Wow!! Thread 12!!!

Thanks for the mention!

ChildOfFriday · 21/05/2022 23:06

Hello Smile I wonder how many of our babies will be born on this thread? Exciting!

Octoblockisadick · 21/05/2022 23:09

Hopefully this is the thread where a large number of babies will make their arrival!!!

MrsNT · 21/05/2022 23:20

oh wow thread 12... guessing this would be the final one?

GrowBabyGrow · 21/05/2022 23:57

I'd love to know what the MN record is for number of threads for a due date group! I bet ours is close

laurenGame · 22/05/2022 00:34

Checking in!
I'm almost 34 weeks and OB said baby is growing 2 weeks ahead 😳 panicked a bit as I jumped from 'two months to go' to 'almost cooked'

Exciting stuff. Anyone planning to partially formula feed?

slowrunningteacher · 22/05/2022 00:34

Aargh! I've forgotten how to watch a thread. Hopefully posting will do it?
The Due in June crew definitely seem to have more threads than other due dates. I wonder how that corresponds (if at all) to the number of babies due?

Rolledthedice · 22/05/2022 00:50

Thanks for the tag! Can’t believe we’re 12 threads in!

@laurenGame I might try combi feeding. I’m keeping all my options open and just going to see what works when baby’s here.

Who else is still in the smaller baby club? Mine is 10th centile and second growth scan was fine so fingers crossed the next one continues on the curve. She still has little legs!

DaimDillyDoo · 22/05/2022 01:35

Just had a load of blood streaked discharge... hopefully labour is close.

EarlGreywithLemon · 22/05/2022 03:16

@PlodandPod thank you so much for the thread and tag!

Brightsmoke · 22/05/2022 03:59

Thanks for the tag @PlodandPod

Exciting times @DaimDillyDoo, keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I've come to sit in the nursery with the aircon on full blast so I don't freeze my husband in our room. I could do with a cold shower but don't want to wake my son up. Im now convinced my baby will be as late as his brother, so starting to relax about labour. I have 0 signs it's coming anytime soon. Considering I'm due 3rd June, I think I'll be one of the last in the group to give birth, if I can persuade midwives to let me go into labour naturally. I had another appointment on Thursday, she still wasn't happy to sign off for a home birth, so I then had to speak to a consultant midwife to assess me and sign me off. Took most of the telephone call, but managed to agree to HB to 40 weeks and reassess. Growth scan is next week so will depend on that really.

I just don't get it. I know the concern is shoulder dystocia, but I'm a healthy size 10/12, so not a small person. It's my 2nd baby. And he's not even predicted to be giant, just bigger than average 😫. But the stress of it definitely isn't helping me relax and encourage baby to come :(

MrsTwentyNine · 22/05/2022 04:14

Thank you for the tag! Currently lying awake in bed after the 3rd loo trip!

Re: mixed feeding, want to try exclusively BF but open to anything as long is baby is being fed! Anyone tried colostrum harvesting with any success ? Very reluctant to try as I hear it can induce labour. 37 weeks in a few days so perhaps maybe I should ...

Jammymare · 22/05/2022 04:33

Thanks for the tag, I’ve been rubbish with keeping up with posts - congratulations to all the mums so far though.
I think I’m still in denial that there will be a real life baby at the end of this. Feeling majorly unprepared, 37+3 and no bag packed, car seat & crib still in the boxes, house in a DIY disarray etc.
I’ve been so run down the past couple of weeks, sore throat, ear infection and now the most annoying ticklish cough that isn’t letting me get more than two hours sleep at a time. I’m majorly uncomfortable, but swinging from ‘get this baby out of me now’ to ‘please stay put until I feel better’.
I had no idea that being heavily pregnant would be so hard on my body, hats off to anyone having twins!!!

I asked my midwife about colostrum harvesting at my appointment last week as I have it running out of my boobs for weeks now (grim). She said they generally only recommend for mums with gestational diabetes or where there may be early inductions. But as I am midwife led and planning to breastfeed there wasn’t much point and they would show me how to hand express after labour if there were any problems feeding then.

Vimto1991 · 22/05/2022 06:09

Thread 12!! Wow! Crossing my fingers this is the thread we all give birth on!!

Went to hospital for a CTG for increased movement AGAIN last night, and baby decided to sleep through the entire CTG to the point we hadn’t passed the test for half an hour. They sat me up and baby started kicking and passed the test almost immediately so they took me off it before they could see just how much baby has been kicking me which is so annoying.
They apparently don’t really have a guidance for increased movement, and since this has happened 4/5 times before where I get a day or two of constant movement, I should just consider that a ‘pattern’ in itself, and the fact baby has no pattern… is a pattern.
I felt very dismissed but at the same time, my scan Tuesday went great and that was after three bouts of all the movement, and they’ve passed all their CTGs so far, so maybe my baby is just a bit of a wild child. 🤷‍♀️ Doesn’t stop me lying in bed worrying about them.

Lostintranslatio · 22/05/2022 07:38

@Rolledthedice my little girl is a small baby too, but I was discharged after the growth scan as they were not concerned about it. I was also a small baby anyway.

I want to try colostrum harvesting after 37 weeks as I want this baby out asap 😂😂😂 Starting to feel very very fed up now. I'm also all for BF but this might change as I really hate my nipples to be touched /felt (even for fun businesses 😂).

laurenGame · 22/05/2022 07:44

Same here @Rolledthedice want to do combi feeding but want to be prepared for it. So looking at prep machines but am clueless 😁

DP loves "research" might allocate that to him 🤣

MrsTwentyNine · 22/05/2022 08:18

@Jammymare that's interesting there's variation amongst Trusts. At mine, everyone gets given a kit. She gave it to me and said it's good to do it as a "back up" just in case you're unwell after delivery / milk doesn't come in etc

CurryandSnuggle · 22/05/2022 08:20

@MrsTwentyNine I started colostrum harvesting a few days ago at 38 weeks. It takes a while to (a) get the knack (midwife had to show me as hardly anything was coming out and (b) get a good supply. First couple of days it took an hour to get 0.1ml. Yesterday I got 0.4ml in 15 minutes.

I’m going to do it everyday as I had trouble establishing breastfeeding last time, so it takes the pressure off if she’s a bit slow to get it. Breastfeeding is a skill and may not be as easy for you or baby as you might think so it’s worth being prepared.

My midwife said it should prevent me going overdue if I express a number of times per day as it gets oxytocin flowing in abundance.

beansprout55 · 22/05/2022 09:19

Ooooi @DaimDillyDoo when is your due date??

@Vimto1991 so feeling for you. The stress is unreal isn't it, especially when you don't have clear answers. xx

I'm hoping to combi feed but with breast milk, not formula (if i can help it!), so I'm buying a pump. I've read on several sites not to introduce a bottle until you've established BF - 5/6 weeks seems to be what they say. I'd be gutted to not be able to BF so I'm not sure I want to risk introducing a bottle too early, but will be prepared with bottles etc if things don't go to plan!!

Annabell1 · 22/05/2022 09:31

Thanks for the new thread @PlodandPod 💕
@Rolledthedice mine is also on the smaller side, 17th percentile last time, but they were not worried. I have another scan tomorrow, so let's see. Crossing fingers your little one will continue to grow well! ❤️

I'm 36 weeks now and really thought she wanted to make an appearance yesterday. I started to get mild cramping last week and then had spotting yesterday. Seeing blood still stresses me out so much, even though I know that it may be a sign of labour at this stage.
@CurryandSnuggle I'm quite impressed that you went back to bed after the bloody show.
I went to see Triage yesterday, but all is well and apparently there are no signs of labour yet.
A lovely Sunday to everyone! Xx

Octoblockisadick · 22/05/2022 09:33

Ooh @DaimDillyDoo exciting! Hopefully things will progress now 🤞

@Brightsmoke how late was your son? I'm not overly concerned about shoulder dystocia, but when they went through all the risks they properly freaked my husband out. I kept trying to explain to him that they have to give absolute worst case scenario where they can't resolve it, but its so incredibly rare that it would get to that point. Not sure I convinced him though.

I'm colostrum harvesting, like @CurryandSnuggle I found breastfeeding hard last time so want a back up option to take some pressure off.

@beansprout55 I've got one pack of the initial formula stuff (the ones that come with the teats) just in case, we didn't have any last time because the midwife advised not to have any formula in because it would make it too easy to quit breastfeeding, but I think for us it was a mistake. Especially with the tongue tie and poor feeding, and the fact I hadn't harvested any colostrum to use. I'm also planning on using breast milk to supplement if possible though, so I've got a pump and a couple of bottles. Hopefully it works out for us!

Prema112 · 22/05/2022 09:35

@Vimto1991 Sorry you had to go in again, glad to hear baby is well. How do you 'pass' a CTG? I've had 3 now and they seem to be random in length- one was 20 mins and one was nearly an hour. Do they kew you on until you 'pass'??

Prema112 · 22/05/2022 09:36

@DaimDillyDoo Sounds promising!! You must be 39 weeks now? Hope it's happening for you!!

Prema112 · 22/05/2022 09:38

Thanks for the tag @PlodandPod! Thread 12: the one where all the waters break 😄
