@MrsTwentyNine honestly, the previous c section is my main reason for not choosing induction due to the extra stress it puts on the scar tissue. I have no issues in general, and would happily accept one if I wasn't considering the effect on my scar tbh

slowrunningteacher · 24/05/2022 08:17

@Octoblockisadick I'm supposed to self isolate for 7 days pre C-section! It won't be perfect though with appointments!

sunflower198 · 24/05/2022 08:43

@Octoblockisadick they must all be different!

I've been told a different thing every time I've queried the Covid swabs with midwives and consultants so I don't trust what I was told last night, so definitely still self isolating until Saturday.

MrsM29 · 24/05/2022 09:02

Morning! I’ve seen a lot of you worried about inductions and thought I would share my positive story to help with those that have just heard negative. With my first at 39 weeks I had to be induced. I had a pessary inserted and after 2 hours contractions started.

My Labour was very fast under 3 hours and I pushed for an hour of that as I was terrified of tearing haha. I had no other intervention and although it is intense it was a really positive experience.

The only thing I would say to all first time mums is that you know your body best. I don’t think any midwife believed how fast my Labour was going so I had to reAlly push for them to check me as because I was a FTM they thought it would be much slower.

I have a growth scan today as baby is measuring big even though my tummy measurements are on the 50th percentile. So potentially have to have another induction but I feel fine about it :)

Vimto1991 · 24/05/2022 09:53

Morning! Had a bad evening last night due to baby strongly kicking fast and erratic with two bouts of hiccups then going quiet, but all is fine, I didn’t go to hospital (although I pictured them with cord compression in my head), I lay in bed as I realised I was having major anxiety and baby is happily squirming around today making themselves known.

I had lower back ache and the need to poop this morning, but no mucus plug or waters broken yet :( and the cramps have tailed off. I know it’s possible my mucus plug has either fallen out or will go just as labour starts, but I’d like a sign, please!!

Interesting to hear different perspectives from inductions. My friends said they’d never have another induction, but I am not allowed to go over 40 weeks due to my thyroid, so booked in for the induction in two weeks (no mention of C section either). I’ve been offered sweeps to get me going before then, but as a FTM, I have no idea what my body will be like with an induction - I guess it’s down to experience? You all seem to know what you want, and I’m here like 🤷‍♀️😂

destiEos · 24/05/2022 10:31

I'm planning on combination feeding too - also happy to throw in some formula if that's needed - I've also got some pre-made bottles, as well as a tub of powder @fpeg all ready for when he gets here. He can have whatever he prefers!

I avoided the colostrum harvesting, didn't much like the idea and also worried about bringing on labour - am very convinced a planned scheduled c-section is the way forward!

I've got the haakaa on my Amazon list, think I may just order it, have heard from quite a few people now that it's useful for "passive boob" milk gathering.

@Jammymare sorry you feel rubbish, hope you're better before labour kicks in.

I've been feeling nauseous for a few weeks now, I went back onto the cyclizine but it hasn't fully sorted it and I've had to stop as of yesterday anyway, as it conflicts with the c-section meds 😕

@sunflower198 - I went in yesterday for pre-op, nothing was mentioned about body-wash or dressings, they did give me omeprazole to take (2 today and 2 tomorrow morning) and some metoclopramide for the morning of the c-section, for nausea. Also did a covid swab and was told to isolate for 2 days - seems like each trust has their own rules. DH has to take an LFT on the day and that's the only visitor I'm allowed.

destiEos · 24/05/2022 10:34

@Octoblockisadick thank you! Very much looking forward to having the little fella out rather than in 😬

Prema112 · 24/05/2022 11:29

@destiEos Oh my word your c is so soon!!!! How exciting you get to meet your baby this week for sure!! Wishing a smooth op for you, a perfect sweet baby and a quick recovery. Can't wait to see photos! Xx

Prema112 · 24/05/2022 11:54

Pictures/updates of the babies born so far?? @PeeAche2 @fpeg @thewindbeneathmywings

thewindbeneathmywings · 24/05/2022 12:14

Wee Callum is just over 2 weeks now. (I should only be 38 weeks yesterday!)

We were in the hospital for a week as Callum had jaundice but it's clearing now. His weight was 5lb 8oz and is now 6lb 3oz so we're heading in the right direction! ☺️

@fpeg & @thewindbeneathmywings - Thanks for sharing the photos of your gorgeous babies with us! I still can’t believe I’m going to have one of those myself soon. How do you both get anything done? I think I will just be staring at my baby 24/7 in amazement!!

annie1994 · 24/05/2022 13:02

Oh look at them @thewindbeneathmywings and @fpeg! glad you are all doing well 😊

I’m 35 weeks tomorrow and midwife thinks baby is somewhere between transverse and breech still. Got another scan to check for sure in couple weeks. But she said if he is transverse I’d have to be admitted to the hospital from 37 weeks as there’s a risk of cord prolapse so they’ll want to make sure my waters don’t break outside the hospital…. I wouldn’t be having my elective section till 39 weeks. So this would mean so much time away from my toddler 😭 I can’t go over 2 weeks without seeing him!!!

Really hope at the scan baby is head or even bum down 🤞🏼

thewindbeneathmywings · 24/05/2022 13:09

@Roxystar23
It's the best feeling! I spend most of the day with him sleeping in my chest! Everything else can wait. He won't be small for long. Then when Daddy gets home at tea time he has cuddles and I get stuff done! I did hoover with him in my arms earlier before the health visitor arrived! Smile

Octoblockisadick · 24/05/2022 13:53

Oh @thewindbeneathmywings and @fpeg they are both so gorgeous 😍!

GrowBabyGrow · 24/05/2022 13:55

Oh @thewindbeneathmywings and @fpeg your babies are so adorable!!

Had our clinic appt today after the scan yesterday following reduced movements on Friday. It was so bizarre, waited for 2 hours only to go in to see a very puzzled obstetrician who didn't understand why I was there because the scan was 'wonderfully average' and all looks fine with baby. So no clearer on why I have had a few eps of reduced movements but he did say that the movements can feel quite different now because she will be running out of room to move and 'take a running kick' (he was an odd character!) and to just go back to triage if I have reduced movements again.

Prema112 · 24/05/2022 13:55

@thewindbeneathmywings & @fpeg Thanks so much for sharing pics, they are both gorgeous!! It makes me so excited to have my own soon! Glad to hear Callum is out of hospital now and doing well. There was also a baby Louie so sorry can't remember user name but hope he's doing well too!!

Prema112 · 24/05/2022 13:58

@annie1994 Sorry to hear your baby is still not playing ball! Really hoping they move for you so you don't have to be admitted. Good to hear they are monitoring you closely

@GrowBabyGrow That's confusing but good to hear dr wasn't worried at all, I hate monitoring movement it's so stressful

destiEos · 24/05/2022 14:00

@Prema112 just got the call, I'm first up tomorrow 7:30am! Argh!

@thewindbeneathmywings and @fpeg they are both adorable, I love the tufty hair above the ears💕

Prema112 · 24/05/2022 14:01

@destiEos Wow wow wow so exciting!!

CurryandSnuggle · 24/05/2022 14:19

@fpeg @thewindbeneathmywings omg beautiful babies 😍🥰🤩 awww so lovely to see your bundles of joy.

Will be us soon ladies ❤️

@destiEos OMG! 😍😍😍😍 so exciting. Good luck! 🤩

CurryandSnuggle · 24/05/2022 14:23

@annie1994 have you asked if they might be able to try external cephalic version? I know you’re having a c-section but at least this way you don’t need to leave your toddler for 2 weeks.

annie1994 · 24/05/2022 14:56

@CurryandSnuggle I said to the midwife if baby was still transverse would they do ECV to at least get a head/ bum down but she said that would be the doctors decision as sometimes it’s not advised depending on baby’s position and where cord etc is. I wasn’t keen on an ECV but if meants not having to be away for ages from my toddler then maybe I would give it a go. I guess we will see in 2 weeks!

@destiEos good luck tomorrow!! How exciting!! Will be thinking of you x

Flowerbug1994 · 24/05/2022 15:35

loving seeing all these gorgeous babies and loving the symptom spotting everyone is doing for labour 😂😂 it’s like 1st trimester again. Am back with another movement question anyone else’s movements changing. I thought I was having reduced again today so sat in the chair for a couple of hours I’ve a good 15 movements in the past hour or so but they feel as big as what they used to l. Am 37+4 today and am thinking so I call triage or is it just different movements as he is getting bigger. Anyone advice for this or anyone had it ??

Lostintranslatio · 24/05/2022 15:42

@thewindbeneathmywings @fpeg Your babies are so cute 😍😍 Seeing your photos makes me want to hold my baby so much ❤️

I had my MW appointment yesterday and baby is doing fine, head down and engaged. 35 weeks tomorrow and so tired of pregnancy now 😂
