@Prema112 the little icon goes from light blue to green on the screen, that’s when the machine passes you. You have to have a certain amount of decreased and increased episodes, and in last nights case I didn’t case any increased until I sat up, so the machine actually wanted accelerations. I’m not sure if every trust has that same Ctg machine but would have thought something very similar if not?

Brightsmoke · 22/05/2022 09:40

@Octoblockisadick he was 42+1, and only came then because I was induced 😂. Me and husband are completely opposite to you guys. My husband is like nope the scaring is just that, where as I'm here freaking the F out about it 😂

I'm also colostrum harvesting, going to up it to twice a day I think. It's not doing anything except kicking Braxton hicks off. But then stops as soon as I stop 😅

Rolledthedice · 22/05/2022 10:35

Thank you @Annabell1 💜 I hope your scan goes well tomorrow! Glad to hear all was well at triage.

I’m exactly the same with the nip situation @Lostintranslatio! 😂 They are very sensitive because I’m fair and have Raynaud’s which apparently makes BF more uncomfortable. 🙈 My MW said get nipple shields.

I don’t know whether to try colostrum harvesting - I’m 37 weeks tomorrow and not ready for the baby to come yet (not got anything ready in the house, that’s next week’s job). I’m also nervous about Raspberry Leaf tea as don’t want to induce Labour before she’s grown a bit more! But I read about the tea and the evidence is not conclusive so I should probably just give it a go.

RoseValleyRambles · 22/05/2022 11:18

We had our nct breastfeeding sesh yesterday and the consultant advised that you wait until you and baby have breast-feeding down pat before introducing a bottle if you want to do both. She says 6 weeks is a reasonable estimate, but whenever you feel you've got it sorted it's an ok time to introduce bottle too.

unknownscot · 22/05/2022 11:37

Thanks for the tag. 35+4 today - feel 42+4 🤣🤣

Octoblockisadick · 22/05/2022 11:51

Haha that's funny @Brightsmoke. My husband is extremely risk averse when it comes to my safety, he would rather the known risks of a planned section than the unknown of a labour that could go any which way. He is really worried about something going wrong and me or baby ending up hurt.
I'm less concerned because I know how inaccurate the scans are and how unlikely the worst case scenarios are haha.

That's good advice @RoseValleyRambles , I'll remember that and try not to supplement too early.

I've got cramps again this morning, can't get comfy at all. Dull ache in my lower back too, and so much pressure in my vagina. I'm literally kneeling forwards over the arm of the sofa to try and get some relief haha. My cervix still very far back though, feels slightly more forward than the other day though, it was easier to reach.

Clomid1 · 22/05/2022 12:42

@DaimDillyDoo how exciting!

I can’t believe we’re at a point where all the babies are now coming. Anyone else feeling really nervous about labour and also being a parent? I don’t think I thought about it properly until now but I am now responsible for a little human and it really scares me.

Vimto1991 · 22/05/2022 13:04

@Clomid1 when I think about it I have a little internal scream like am I ready?? I still feel so young (despite being 31), will I be a good mom? What the heck am I doing? 😂 I have two weeks (or less!) to figure that out.

I think baby is properly running out of space now. Movements are starting to get so much different, I almost miss the little kicks! Now it’s just a slow elbow move of the occasional big boot. Other than that it’s them shoving their legs into my ribs. 🙈

EarlGreywithLemon · 22/05/2022 13:15

@Clomid1 , @Vimto1991 personally I found I relaxed massively once our daughter was born. Don’t get me wrong, there were still worries, but being able to see her was very reassuring. Also, I found looking after a baby hugely more rewarding than being pregnant. What helped is that she seemed very much her own little personality from the moment she was born. She had very clear likes and dislikes and preferences and that really helped. It didn’t feel like it was a one way street of me being responsible for her, but a process of working things together out by her and by me (and my husband).

beansprout55 · 22/05/2022 13:19

Those of you who have BF before, did you use a nursing pillow? Did you find them useful and did it make getting the 'right' position baby should be in difficult? (Not too flat, not too upright etc...)
Wondering whether to get one or not.

Im so excited for all of those who's babies will be born on this thread! I doubt mine will be as only 35 weeks today and I reckon we are going to fill up this thread SO fast. Eeeeek!x

@DaimDillyDoo knowing that that could be your show is going to make me refresh my mumsnet a hundred times over the next 48 hours I'm sure! 😂 🤞

Brightsmoke · 22/05/2022 13:32

@Vimto1991 I'm with you with the huge movements. He's CONSTANTLY in my ribs or hip. He's run out of space, so he needs to realise it's time to evacuate 😂

@beansprout55 I used a normal pillow. Worked fine for me as I could move it into more

EarlGreywithLemon · 22/05/2022 14:35

@beansprout55 yes, we did use a breastfeeding cushion and I found it very helpful. But then I have a bad back so it also helped with not slouching etc

MrsNT · 22/05/2022 14:42

@Octoblockisadick @CurryandSnuggle how are u finding colustrum harvesting? Ill start sometime this week.. do u express into a cup and then fill syringe? And how long is it taking? Is it painful

CurryandSnuggle · 22/05/2022 14:48

@MrsNT it is not and should not be painful. I would syringe bead after bead directly off the nipple and it’s normal not to get much at first. My friend who is a doctor recommended doing it in the morning as hormone levels are higher, definitely works for me. I have a pint of squash beforehand, seems to help it flow more. Don’t be afraid to ask midwife for support if nothing is coming out. I didn’t have the technique right but now I do it’s going really well 🙂

CurryandSnuggle · 22/05/2022 14:51

@MrsNT further to previous message. Technique is: have two fingers at bottom of nipple on the areola, one just above the nipple (you’re cupping it in a C shape), push the nipple into your rib cage with the bottom two fingers and then squeeze the nipple with the top. Then release and repeat. You may need to do it a few times before it starts coming out (you’re essentially tricking your body to thinking a baby is suckling).

RooSut25 · 22/05/2022 15:37

@MrsNT I've managed it the last two evenings - I've just had a shower and relaxed on the sofa, and kind of had a play with no pressure. Takes maybe 5 mins to get going, and then you start getting tiny beads. Then follow @CurryandSnuggle technique and hoover drops up with the syringe as you go. Be careful not to take up too much air with the syringe as then you spend ages flicking it to get the air bubbles out! Managed to get 1ml per boob in an evening!

It was really exciting - feel oddly proud of my body for doing it (I half expected it not to work!)

MrsNT · 22/05/2022 15:45

@Octoblockisadick @CurryandSnuggle @RooSut25 thanks will try
Do u use one syringe per session? Also when did u start? Im 36 weeks now. Midwife said safe to start but a bit scared

CurryandSnuggle · 22/05/2022 16:17

@MrsNT You can keep topping up the same syringe for 24 hours, but keep it in the fridge between sessions then put the syringe in a labelled bag (with your name) in the freezer.

I started at 38 weeks but only because I didn’t want to do it while I had covid. Most trusts say 36 weeks but some say 37 weeks. If you’re worried wait until 37 weeks 🙂

Prema112 · 22/05/2022 16:18

@Vimto1991 I didn't know that about the lights! I will look out for it next time I'm on CTG which is hopefully never...

CurryandSnuggle · 22/05/2022 16:19

@RooSut25 yes! I’m strangely excited about it too, so proud of my body! I managed to fill a full syringe today for the first time 😊I reckon the supply gets more each day, just got to keep going.

Octoblockisadick · 22/05/2022 16:46

@MrsNT not painful at all. Quite difficult to get much at first, but as you do it more and get the technique it gets easier. At first I expressed and used the syringe to suck up the little beads of milk as they appeared, as i started getting more and finding it easier I started expressing onto a teaspoon / into a tub then syringing up from there. I found it hard to get much at first, but can get maybe 2ml per breast in a session now (after doing it for a while - 37w now, was cleared to start early due to baby measuring ahead).

I definitely have that feeling in my lower stomach like my period is due to start in a day or 2 if you know what I mean? Like a dull ache. Could this be the start of something possibly? I feel like I'm symptom spotting more now than when ttc haha!

Vimto1991 · 22/05/2022 16:47

If your baby hiccuped daily, couple of times a day, then nothing one day - would you be concerned? They say not to count hiccups as movement, and I’m still getting movements (a lot quieter but still movements). Just concerned as to why baby hasn’t hiccuped yet. 🤔 I’m gonna feel like a dick calling triage again at this rate.

CurryandSnuggle · 22/05/2022 16:58

@Vimto1991 hiccups are random so I really wouldn’t worry about it

Vimto1991 · 22/05/2022 17:02

@CurryandSnuggle thanks! I know they specifically don’t count them as part of babies movements, and maybe me lying on the sofa drinking water to help my cold and not caffeine free Pepsi is why they haven’t hiccuped. 😂

just seemed odd! Baby is still prodding and moving around today so I shouldn’t worry, but I probably will. 🙈

also I hope I get to harvest some colostrum before my sweep but I really don’t want to do it whilst I feel so pooped!!

Vimto1991 · 22/05/2022 17:09

@Octoblockisadick yeah I’ve been getting periody pains that feel like the start of something! I used to get very heavy and intense periods so hope that means I have had some form of training for this. 😅
