That’s good to hear @CurryandSnuggle! how far along are you now? I had a lovely bit of lightning crotch earlier while walking to the supermarket. 🙈

Prema112 · 23/05/2022 19:29

Thanks ladies! @CurryandSnuggle That's a relief, so glad to hear she's where she should be!

@Letsbekindplease so sorry to hear about your sickness, how horrible, definitely not what you need. Hope it clears up for you

firsttimemomma93 · 23/05/2022 19:42

Not tagged but jumping in 🤣 due June 25th, is anyone thinking of combination feeding or will I be making my life more difficult (as the midwife tells me) lol

Octoblockisadick · 23/05/2022 21:25

Ooh that's exciting @CurryandSnuggle ! Hopefully not much longer if fully engaged! How many weeks are you now?

@Flowerbug1994 I honestly can't remember what they did at my pre op last time. Maybe mrsa swabs? They'll probably do covid swabs now I suppose.

I know @EarlGreywithLemon, I won't be making it to 41 weeks due to a section at 40+2 at latest due to baby size :(. Need to try and get baby out before that if possible.

MrsTwentyNine · 23/05/2022 22:18

Booked for induction in 2 weeks because of baby's size! Anyone else? I feel the same about not wanting to be induced as you @Prema112 but at the same time, the thought that I have a time and date for labour to start is making me feel very calm. The fear of the unknown waiting period was perhaps worse for me than all the negative induction stories people throw at me...
I'm also now googling positive induction stories!

MrsTwentyNine · 23/05/2022 22:19

PS: need to add that I was offered ELCS over induction if I wanted but choosing induction!

EarlGreywithLemon · 23/05/2022 22:34

@Octoblockisadick I’m hoping ours stays put until the C section at 39+5, so sending all going into labour vibes your way 😁

destiEos · 23/05/2022 22:44

Hey everyone, long time no speak! I have stopped by to check in a couple of times but not got around to actually posting. Hope everyone's doing great and yay for us all being nearly there 💕

I lost my plug today, if that's the correct expression - am now a bit scared that labour will start before scheduled c-section on Wednesday 🥺 Baby dropped down a week or so ago, but no cramps or anything else yet. Hold on little dude!

DaimDillyDoo · 24/05/2022 02:03

@firsttimemomma93 I'm thinking of combination feeding from birth (if I'm able) I'd really like the closeness with baby but I'd also like DP to take over feeds and share that bond too.

My midwife hasn't really asked about feeding or even my birth plan though...

I feel fed up tonight, started to get pressure down below and a lot of discharge (although don't think it was my waters) and a few crampy tight pains. They've tailed off and I'm sick of bloody googling "is X a sign of labour" Blush

I should just embrace the peace and quiet and ability to nap whenever I want but I'm getting agitated Halo

unknownscot · 24/05/2022 02:11

I'm still wide awake, the insomnia is real tonight!!

fpeg · 24/05/2022 04:55

@DaimDillyDoo @firsttimemomma93 I started to express some milk from day 5, milk came in on day 3, and OH has given late evening feed ever since (I actually used hakka whilst milk coming in on opposite boob to one she was feeding on as it just helped alleviate the engorgement a bit). Whilst milk is coming in it's recommended that you keep putting them on the boob, in order to encourage milk in properly. I had a couple of pre-made, formula bottles in my hospital bag in case there was a breast feeding issue, on the third night I gave one as I was just so exhausted and obviously not filling her up, she slept for 2.5 hours afterwards which was great! (Sleep longer stunts happened as soon as milk came in, first three days were exhausting but amazing though!).

Anyway thought I'd share my story as have seen a number of people say midwives say not to introduce bottle until 6 weeks... I actually think this is said to discourage you giving up breast feeding (one midwife pretty much told me this straight out) and on another forum I've been on lots have said wouldn't take bottle after being EBF for so long. I guess like so much it comes down to a personal decision!

Jammymare · 24/05/2022 06:04

Anyone want to join my pity party?
I feel so ill. Last three nights have been spent coughing my guts up on the sofa. am going to have to push to see the GP today after being fobbed off last week, I’m genuinely terrified at the thought of going into labour when feeling so rough. Honey and lemon just isn’t cutting it.

Brightsmoke · 24/05/2022 06:22

@fpeg, completely agree with you! I was combi feeding before the midwife signed me off, so was within a week of birth. Pumping so my husband could do the evening feed to help bond. I had 0 issues with BF or bottle accepting other than the pain!

unknownscot · 24/05/2022 07:14

@fpeg what is a haaka? 🤯

fpeg · 24/05/2022 07:29

@unknownscot it's a passive breast pump. I didn't use the proper pump until engorgement was done as it can make you over produce apparently, whereas the passive pump just collects the excess you'd be losing:

Haakaa Manual Breast Pumps Silicone Breastpump Breastfeeding Pump Milk Pump 100% Food Grade Silicone (3oz/90ml) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07PSDFMLQ/ref=cmswwrcppapiiiRF40NBABYXAXWFGH6HW8?encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Letsbekindplease · 24/05/2022 07:40

@Jammymare hope you feel better soon. Nothing worse when you feel Ill and this stage of pregnancy.

I want to do combi feeding too. I really need to try and read up on it as I’m really not sure how to go about it. I think I want to initially try the breast for the closeness and will use the Hakka to express, but we have bottles and the perfect prep and milk for formula.
will see when she’s here and can see what happens.

my sickness is away. I felt slightly normal last night and had a well needed shower. Feeling much better today so hoping to try and get little things ticked off my list. Hope everyone had a lovely day

laurenGame · 24/05/2022 07:47

@fpeg thanks for sharing your experience that formula can be given earlier than 6 weeks.
My friend just gave birth and she had similar - gave formula to a 1 week old baby and her and her husband had a 3 hour sleep and said it was amazing and made them feel so much more rested.

I'm planning to combi feed from pretty much birth. But I'm happy if things do go to plan and I have to exclusively BF Smile

firsttimemomma93 · 24/05/2022 07:48

@DaimDillyDoo yes that's exactly my view on it!
@fpeg thanks for that, I've guess I'll just have to see how things go after the birth, :)

sunflower198 · 24/05/2022 07:52

@Flowerbug1994 I had an EMCS last time but I have my pre op for my ELCS this Saturday. The hospital called me last night to run through things like where I needed to go for pre op etc - she just said at pre op they'd give me the medication you have to take before c section, a body wash to use, confirm which dressing will be used (apparently there are two types) and to run through any last minute questions.

I was told previously to self isolate for 14 days beforehand (as OH wouldn't be able to attend theatre if he tests positive) which we're doing but she told me last night that they are not doing Covid swabs at pre op anymore!! I'll just be swabbed when admitted.

laurenGame · 24/05/2022 07:57

@MrsTwentyNine (and @Prema112 )I'm also getting induced but mine is elective
I know it's not a popular option but my OB things it's best, and I work in a related field (research) so after a month of studying trials I now don't think that inductions are bad, quite the opposite (for me personally).

You say you've been googling positive stories, this one's good as it analysed 15 million pregnancies (I don't like small sample studies Grin): https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-pregnancy-stillbirth-idUSKCN1UK2L3

Hope that makes you feel better about your induction Smile

slowrunningteacher · 24/05/2022 08:01

@Flowerbug1994 My hospital isn't doing pre ops in person atm. There's a video to watch! That being said, they've sent me prescriptions in the post and I have to go in on separate occasions for a covid test and blood tests 🤷‍♀️.
Other than that I'm staying in from lunchtime today as a precaution. I've just done an LFT this morning and have my 38 week midwife appointment first!

MrsTwentyNine · 24/05/2022 08:06

@laurenGame I'm so pleased you say that!! The consultant here also wanted me to avoid ELCS if there isn't a need so I'd say I'm choosing induction too like you! Will definitely look at that link. When is yours booked for ? Smile

Octoblockisadick · 24/05/2022 08:09

@MrsTwentyNine I declined induction so either 2 weeks on Thursday or 3 weeks from yesterday til my section. Not sure if I'll change my mind as I really want to try for vaginal delivery, but I've said I don't want induction since day 1 so I doubt it.

@destiEos can't believe your section is tomorrow! That's so exciting, good luck! And hopefully labour doesnt start today for you!

@DaimDillyDoo I combi fed from day 2 or 3 last time, no issues with latching until I gave up at 6 weeks. My bigger issue was lack of supply, but that was most likely due to the severe tongue tie meaning my daughter couldn't stimulate much milk to come in. I'm intending on doing similar this time ideally.

@unknownscot I also had a really bad night, could not get comfy at all. Pain in my hip no matter which way I was lying, and so many toilet trips 😩. Anyone else feel like their baby is so low it feels like they are going to fall out when they sit on the loo?!
I've got cramps again too, they have been happening from 5/6pm until 11pm ish, but I've already got them this morning.

MrsTwentyNine · 24/05/2022 08:11

@Octoblockisadick that is fair , as long as your choices are respected, that's all that matters. And you're in a better position than me as you're not a FTM so know more as to what to expect! Ahh 2 weeks for me...it's gotten very close!

Octoblockisadick · 24/05/2022 08:14

I missed loads while typing!

@sunflower198 that's interesting, I was given my pre section meds when I signed the consent forms, and told I'll be most likely having a covid swabs at pre op. Guess all trusts are different still.

@slowrunningteacher how come you need to stay in today? Hope everything OK!
