Sorry, sleep deprivation taking it’s toll 😂😂 she’s clusterfeeding!

I think it was a couple of really good sex sessions the day before, along with lots of walking and relaxing that helped get things going for me.

CurryandSnuggle · 09/06/2022 07:30

@MrsNT are they painful?

MrsNT · 09/06/2022 07:31

@CurryandSnuggle yes does stop me in my tracks or whatever im doing

Bango2019 · 09/06/2022 07:40

May I join your "waiting game" club?😅 40w and 2 days and no signs of any labour starting soon. Walking everyday for about 40 min to 1h, eating dates, some exercise but nada. Midwife appointment at 41 weeks for either sweep or induction. What do you ladies suggest? Never done this before as my 1st was born at exactly 40 weeks.

Starbeach · 09/06/2022 08:06

Good luck girls in labour hope it goes well.

I've woken up in absolute agony my ribs and either side of my abdomen feels like all my muscles are pulled but more painful. Taken paracetamol hasn't touched it. I know she is breech and her head is in exactly the same place as it has been for the last god knows how long and my blood pressure monitor shows my bp is 144/89 so I called triage and spoke to the most horrible midwife, who said walk it off and call back - I can bearly move with the pain. Translated is triage shuts at 9 so she cant be bothered to see me so after 9 I have to go to day assessment in my local midwife unit. Which with her attitude I'd rather anyway. I pray she's not my midwife when the time comes 🙏

GrowBabyGrow · 09/06/2022 08:32

@Starbeach that's awful they dismissed you like that, rib pain and high blood pressure can be signs of preeclampsia so really they should be getting you in to check you over asap. Can you ring again to try and speak to a different midwife?

GrowBabyGrow · 09/06/2022 08:36

Congratulations to all the new mums on the group! I finally finished work yesterday and feel almost ready for baby to arrive. Had some uncomfortable Braxton Hicks in the night which were a bit more painful than I anticipated.

@Bango2019 welcome! I think I would go for sweeps over induction as a first step to try and start things naturally. But it's completely up to you!

Starbeach · 09/06/2022 08:42

@GrowBabyGrow thats what I was worried about hence calling them. I'm calling my midwife at 9. Its a bit complicated where I live our trust only has MLU's and no actual hospital units so we have to go to a different trust for ooh triage and the same midwife mans the phone all night 😭

Hope your ok with your Braxton hicks

Letsbekindplease · 09/06/2022 08:46

Oh @Starbeach thats just awful treatment. Why do people act like that. They must know how worrying it is to be pregnant and in pain etc. hope you get some relief soon

I have a sweep this morning. I’ve never had one before but I’m not over my due date and willing to try anything.

Clomid1 · 09/06/2022 10:03

Hey everyone,

sorry for the very delayed update. We were only discharged from hospital on Monday and sleep deprived me has just been taking it really easy 😂

Here’s the update:
I went into Labour on Saturday evening around 11pm. As you guys know I was in so much pain but the hospital wanted contractions every 3 mins with 1 min length. I wasn’t coping with the pain well. On Monday night/ early hours of tuesday morning I lied and went to the hospital every 3 mins.

They hooked me up to a ctg found that contractions were every 10 minutes. But then due to the fact that I’ve been under heavy monitoring for small gestational age of baby the lovely midwife decided to let me stay. Another one came in and told me off as I screamed in pain saying you’re not even in that much pain and if I cry and moan like this baby will get distressed and I’ll end up with a c-section 🤦🏾‍♀️ Some people really should think before they take a job in health care.

They admitted me and gave me Pethidine? It did nothing at all. I screamed and cried all night. Thankfully my husband was allowed to stay with me. Then some genius thought that it was a great idea in the morning to hook me up to a ctg and just leave me there for a couple of hours. Obviously the ctg wasn’t completing because I was not keeping still through the pain. I continued to cry and scream, I didn’t eat anything. The only thing I did was drink water.

Then one midwife turned up for her 8am shift. She is honestly someone I will never ever forget in my life. She could hear me screaming and she kept saying “I am coming darling just breathe through the pain, I’ll be with you as soon as I finish with this patient”.

She bought be gas and air. Explained how to use it and kept coming back to check on me. She was absolutely amazing. I got extremely high on the gas and air. No idea what happened next, all i remember is my husband crying and then being told I was 4cm dilated and going to the labour ward.

As soon as I got to labor ward I made them give me an epidural. And then the pain stopped it was amazing. It’s the only reason I would ever consider having another child.

Baby was born on 31.05.2022 at 7.12pm weighing 2.225kg at 37+2 weeks. She was tiny. So the first scan was right she was on the 3rd centile.

The doctors had no idea why she was so small. They kept us in hospital for 6 days. Thankfully my husband was allowed to stay. My baby had jaundice in the first 24 hrs and they told me thats a double red flag. She was under the billie box for 3 days. I cried and cried to every midwife and doctor that walked through the door but everything worked out well in the end. We’re now home with our healthy beautiful little girl.

I haven’t read through the thread properly but can see a lot of people have had their babies. Congratulations everyone

Kittycat2022 · 09/06/2022 10:41

Hi everyone!

I haven’t posted since one of the way way earlier groups around 15 - 20 weeks pregnant but I’ve been following all your threads since! I was struggling really bad with anxiety and worrying about things going wrong and I had some lovely reassurances!!

Our beautiful little girl arrived on Monday weighing healthy 7lbs 8oz the day before her due date. I ended up having an ELCS as she was breech. I’m so relieved - and sleep deprived 🤣🤣

Congratulations to all you Mammas who’ve had your babies and hopefully those of you still waiting won’t have much longer to wait 💗💗

Baby Boy 💙
Arrived this morning at 0652am, after what was a hellish induction, it was the best birth ever. So relaxed, quick and just gas and air once in the labour suite x

MrsNT · 09/06/2022 11:01

@unknownscot congrats

Im so confused with whats happening with me. Im in a super early phase of labour where contractions start and stop .definately not brackton hicks as its been over 12 hrs now

MrsNT · 09/06/2022 11:03

And also congrats to all the mamas who have had babies recently @Clomid1 and all the others.. so many babies..hopefully we wont be long

Prema112 · 09/06/2022 11:33

Yay @unknownscot congratulations!! Well done! So glad it wasn't too long for you and that the pushing stage was so much better than the beginning. Enjoy your beautiful new bundle 🥰

GrowBabyGrow · 09/06/2022 12:00

Oh @Clomid1 congratulations. I was wondering how you were doing. Glad to hear you are home now. What a difficult experience you had! That second midwife sounds like an absolute angel, it's good that someone came along and actually listened to you. I hope you can recover and settle into the baby bubble now you are out of hospital ❤

annie1994 · 09/06/2022 13:43

Congratulations @unknownscot @Clomid1 and @Kittycat2022! Hope you ladies and babies are all doing well!

Prema112 · 09/06/2022 13:50

@Clomid1 So sorry you had such an awful experience. I really hope you put in a complaint when you've recovered a bit, your care sounds awful, no one should be treated like that. So pleased to hear your baby is doing well now ❤️

destiEos · 09/06/2022 14:30

@Clomid1 congratulations! So happy for you and your tiny one 💕 Such a shitty start to it all, but then your midwife in shining armour turned up! And now you are home with your bundle of joy... Enjoy every moment!

@Kittycat2022 congrats! She is beautiful and I love her bunny! 7lbs 8oz is the best weight - that's what my little one was born at - 2 weeks early by ELCS also 😊

@unknownscot - yay for lovely easy birth! Sorry you had to suffer through crappy induction but congrats to you and enjoy your new little boy 🥰

So exciting watching this thread now 😍

JAR1981 · 09/06/2022 15:42

Hi ladies congratulations to everyone with the recent arrivals.

i just haven’t found time to log in here since the weekend, so will try catch up at some point! So tough with the sleep deprivation.

Does anyone have any good electric pump recommendations? My hospital rental went back on Sunday and my manual just isn’t doing enough for me. Anyone have the Elvie and is it worth the hefty price tag? I love the idea of being wireless and hands free as so time poor, but the reviews seem very love or hate

Starbeach · 09/06/2022 19:11

Congratulations everyone.

I spoke to my midwife after she's not happy that triage refused to review me so has spoken to them and they apparently apologised and said they were busy.

So I've walked or waddled the dogs round the field and waiting for the OH to pick my curry up on the way home 😂

CurryandSnuggle · 09/06/2022 19:52

Si much I want to say to above posts and would like to share my own birth story.. willl do so later as exhausted however @JAR1981 - I would recommend the Ardo Calypso, it’s really good and a closed system so it’s hygienic. Don’t go for an open system otherwise the milk flows into the mechanism and can’t be cleaned, then it goes mouldy (disgusting!) and you certainly can’t sell on.

CurryandSnuggle · 09/06/2022 19:57

@MrsNT so sorry for delay, it does sound like you’re in early labour. It’s so frustrating when they start and stop, thinking of you. I would try to get gravity on your side, lots of rocking side to side and figure of 8 on birth ball - helps babies head push on the cervix. The reason mine stop started was due to the babies head not being flush against my cervix. I’d also try to do things that keep oxytocin going - cuddles, nipple stimulation, funny programmes, treat food etc. It really does help the contractions be more effective. But sometimes it’s beyond our control and we need help - mine stopped and in the end I needed oxytocin drip xx

beansprout55 · 09/06/2022 21:38

Congratulations new mummies!!xxxx
@Clomid1 you poor love. What a nasty midwife, she really shouldn't be in that job. Definitely complain when you're feeling up to it! If she gets a talking to your complaint will stop other women having that experience. Sorry it was so tough for you but I'm so happy you and baby are healthy and home xxx

@Prema112 hope you're doing ok? Your waters were getting broke at some point today weren't they? You're either in labour or holding your bubba right now! Eeeeek x

@unknownscot Well done you absolute warrior. You're amazing xx

So cross I'm still over two weeks away! It's all happening on this thread!xxxx

beansprout55 · 09/06/2022 21:41

@JAR1981 - I was fully prepared to spend £100/200 on a good pump and because reviews seem mixed on all of them I thought I'd start a Mumsnet thread asking for personal recommendations of electric pumps that work quickly (as ill be pumping at work) - I was so surprised that most people recommended the Bellababy, it's so cheap on Amazon! I couldn't believe it. The reviews on there are so good too. People even said it's too good to be true for the price. I've got that and a Hakka ready to go.
xx
