I was going to reply on the other and then realized we were so dangerously close to maxing it out!
@annlee3817 @Tinadecember @Goodgoodthings @stimpyyouidiot @ShiningStarz @madeleine85: Thanks for the feedback about the stretchmark “preventatives”! I think that since I’ve got some stretchmarks on my boobs that maybe I’ll play it safe and keep using the stuff on my belly. I totally get that it might be doing absolutely nothing, but hey, at least it’s making me feel a little more pregnant when most days I feel like I just look like I’ve packed on some winter weight instead haha
Not to mention it smells really good! And I just kind of like the routine of it I think. But it’s good to know that the consensus is that it’s probably not doing anything (so I won’t need to panic if I miss an application or something)

@Goodgoodthings do you remember around when you did start to feel the kicks? I know it’s different for everyone, but it helps to hear from someone who had an anterior as well. It’ll give me a time to look forward to so that I won’t feel so disappointed when everyone else starts feeling before me

Congrats on your scan @SoOverThisCrap!

Yay @stimpyyouidiot! I can’t wait to hear the heartbeat! So far we’ve only seen the heartbeat but haven't heard it yet. I think we’ll get to hear it for the first time at my 18 week appointment?

annlee3817 · 21/03/2022 21:24

Thanks for the new thread, I haven't heard the heartbeat either yet, hoping I'll hear it at twenty weeks 🤞

handbagsandholidays · 21/03/2022 21:25

Hi everyone,

I'm back after taking a break.... I had a lot of bleeding between weeks 8-12 and so spent more time worrying than anything else and kept off the boards as I didn't know where I stood and was constantly filled with worry. Thankfully I'm now 12+5 and had a scan last week where everything looked fine. Hope you're all keeping well. It's been a while since I last had a child and I have forgotten what weeks 13-20 feel like! Am i right in thinking those are the weeks where you don't really have any symptoms aside from perhaps a growing tummy? 😅

stimpyyouidiot · 21/03/2022 21:28

I think I was very lucky to hear! They did say they might not be able to, but we caught it very quickly and then it went - from the scan I know it's probably wriggling around too much anyway! Reassuring to hear, even for a few seconds!

SoOverThisCrap · 21/03/2022 21:35

@IzzyLeigh thanks for the new thread 😊

TotoAnnihiliation · 21/03/2022 21:38

Thank you @IzzyLeigh

Anterior placenta - I had one with DD, I felt movement from 19 weeks abs this was around the edge of my bump. DD was breech, I don't know if it would have been different if she had been a conventional head down baby! She was breech for the whole pregnancy.

madeleine85 · 21/03/2022 21:44

Thanks @IzzyLeigh for the new thread. @handbagsandholidays glad you are feeling beter! For me, I don't feel much or anything right now. I remember feeling "pregnant" around 20 weeks last time. When I had my 14 week doppler check the older experienced doctor barely found it, and commented that she had to follow him around as he was moving so much. I'm lucky she found it, even for a little bit. Today's was transvaginal, so they just turned it on and you could hear it on the monitor so that was nice. Saw his top or bottom bobbing up and down in the image though that wasn't where it was focused. Very much looking forward to the real kicks. Glad people are beginning to come around from the first trimester woes though :)

IzzyLeigh · 21/03/2022 21:52

@handbandsandholidays welcome back! Did they ever find a cause for the bleeding? Also, don’t feel like you need to answer that if you’d rather not talk about it. I’m very happy your scan went well!

@totoannihiliation 19 weeks isn’t too shabby! That’s about the “normal” time, right? I have a feeling with my luck I won’t feel until like 24 weeks. And I know once I do feel, that I’ll be anxious nonstop worrying about imagined reduced movements. We just can’t win, can we? haha

madeleine85 · 21/03/2022 22:09

@IzzyLeigh I agree with the feeling things late first pregnancy, last time I barely felt movements in general with my DD. I couldn't even count minutes in between contractions in labour. I was a rubbish pregnant lady lol. When I had my day of kicks last week I was properly freaked out by it though. We can't win!!

Goodgoodthings · 22/03/2022 02:59

@IzzyLeigh I think I was about 18/19 weeks and first feelings were like "pops" - blink and you'd miss them. Those first few that I felt inside were also just about noticeable from outside too! My DD was very active so from that point on there was no mistaking it and the feelings got stronger to the point where you could see my belly changing shape as she thrashed about/kicked me 😅

Totally get that you obsess about it - but try not to overthink things. That said this time my placenta is posterior and I am anxiously awaiting those first wriggles again!

Anyone else waking up at stupid hours in the night ready to take on the day and then absolutely dead by 9am?

ShiningStarz · 22/03/2022 06:32

@handbagsandholidays that's great, it must have been a very worrying time for you and I'm glad you got to your scan with everything ok. Did anyone event tel you what was causing the bleeding?

@madeleine85 snap with feeling totally normal! I can actually function a whole day at work now! Last few weeks I was napping during the day!!! It was bad!!

I have a scan tomorrow (15.5 weeks) then one at 16.5 and the the lovely glucose tolerance test!!

MedbN · 22/03/2022 07:03

@Goodgoodthings yes on the waking up at night. Regularly waking up wide awake at night only to realise it's hours away from morning and then when the alarm goes off I'm so tired again it's as if I haven't slept at all.

110APiccadilly · 22/03/2022 07:29

Hi all, checking in. Life has been pretty hectic for me (and will continue to be so until Easter) so I've not been on the thread much.

I'm still feeling sick off and on at nearly 16 weeks, but I remember I was like that with DD as well (she made me throw up exactly once in each trimester) so I think that must just be how I am with pregnancy.

110APiccadilly · 22/03/2022 07:31

Oh yes, I'm doing the random waking in the early hours thing. Then at 7 when the toddler wakes so I need to get up I'm dead! Can't complain too much though as at least the toddler does sleep through.

Belle2210 · 22/03/2022 07:43

Can't believe we're on to thread 5!

@handbagsandholidays Glad everything is going good for you 💕. Would be so scary.

I definitely have a chubby bump going on now. Just ordered a first batch of Maternity clothes from Boo Hoo.

2 weeks today and I'm still waiting on my NT scan results 🙈. Wish they would hurry up. Other than that my sickness/headaches seem to have eased up again (thank god) and I'm sure I've felt little movements. Husband gets home end of this month finally after being away working since January. Can. Not. Wait 🙌🙌 Our gender scan will be the first time he's seen bean in real time 😊😊😊.

All this excitement though has made a bit of a dent in my work motivation. I WFH and right now I'd much rather be clearing out rooms and reading baby stuff 🙈. It's a bit like the last week working before the trip of a lifetime.... But there's still 5 months to go before the trip 😂.

Belle2210 · 22/03/2022 07:47

@Goodgoodthings Been waking up much earlier and easier than normal. Had a few nights that I woke up about 3/4am and couldn't get back to sleep. Found having a snack helps 😂.

Tinadecember · 22/03/2022 07:50

morning girls, thanks for the new thread! I was losing control with the last one haha!

I am 14+6 today and have my 15 week midwife check, anyone know what to expect?

I have a doppler at home which I have rented so I have been having a listen every now and then to the babys heartbeat, however, it hasn't been easy to find so I can appreciate how difficult it is for a midwife to find before 20 weeks! sometimes I can be searching around for 20 minutes before I briefly find it for a few seconds and the little one moves away!

I am beginning to feel more like me again! I went off tea completely during the first tri but I am starting to enjoy a cup again :) sickness has pretty much gone now aside from the odd wave.

stimpyyouidiot · 22/03/2022 08:05

@Tinadecember I had mine yesterday. Was only there for about 15 mins! Told bloods all fine (I knew this anyway), checked baby's heartbeat (not offered everywhere though), tested urine and did blood pressure.

amorningperson · 22/03/2022 08:28

@IzzyLeigh sooo I know this is a pretty anecdotal but I used bump oil and bio oil on bump and boobs with zero stretch marks. I stopped using it on my bum (which grew three sizes I swear) because I got a lot of bum acne (sorry everyone TMI) and I got marks on my bum!! So I don’t know if that’s significant but I’m oiling my bottom Grin (lol!!) for sure this time…

@handbagsandholidays - I definitely feel a lot better this trimester- especially this week (I’m 15+1 today) holy moly- the tiredness was so real.

@stimpyyouidiot that’s so cool- I’m hoping I’ll get to hear the HB too- my appt is in a couple of weeks.

Out of curiosity- where is everybody in the world? I’m in Scotland (but I’m actually from SA.) it’s been glorious weather and I’m finally feeling a lot better so I’ve been walking and attempting a run (though I need to do some
More pelvic floor exercises as my poor muscles took a beating last pregnancy/birth).

Speaking of which how is everyone feeling about birth. If you’ve had a baby before- how are you feeling about round 2? I had a good straightforward labour but I also remember that it was a tough and crazy time. There are things I’d do differently for sure!

We have some house viewings this week but I feel totally uninspired by all the options but also feel desperate to have our own place. Again it’s a first world problem as we are lucky enough to be any where near the property ladder. But house prices have been mad in Glasgow since 2020, I mean crazy expensive and we are almost being priced out of our area. It’s a bit miserable as all my mum friends are in this area and it’s of course near all the nice parks etc

Goodgoodthings · 22/03/2022 08:58

@amorningperson ah I love Glasgow - totally get the frustration of being priced out of where you want to be though! I live outside of Birmingham and feel lucky we bought when we did as prices seem crazy right now. I hope you do find something that works for you!

I need to take a leaf out of your book and get off my bum to do some exercise but it's not quite happened yet 😅 keep telling myself I'll start up swimming again...soon.

Birth wise I feel 90% sure I'll have a cs after an emcs with my first and this is what my midwife is recommending. There's still a part of me that feels like I failed first time and wants to have a vbac- though I'm not sure if that's more around trying to fix what happened before and prove something to myself. How are you feeling? One thing's for sure - I will be packing more food in my hospital bag than I did! And nursing bras 😬

110APiccadilly · 22/03/2022 09:09

I'm in Wales, we've got lovely weather at the moment.

I had a EMCS with DD and will be trying for a VBAC - but if it goes to a C-section I'm not worried about that. In fact, if they want to induce me I'll be asking to have a section instead - DD's birth meant I experienced both and I would rather have another section than another induction (and a risk of a section anyway!)

handbagsandholidays · 22/03/2022 09:11

@madeleine85 @IzzyLeigh @ShiningStarz @amorningperson

They never found a reason for it! I was actually abroad on holiday when it first began so you can imagine the initial stress and worry. I had full on fresh red bleeding with clots but it then tapered off in to a mixture of brown, pink and red which has remained since then. The hospital abroad prescribed me progesterone to help stabilise things which gave me some reassurance. I've had a few scans now where all has been ok so I'm starting to worry less about it. Knowing me, I'll probably start worrying once the bleeding stops now 😂

I'm so pleased to hear that you're all having an easier time in the second trimester! I'm hoping to book a gender scan for 15 weeks. 🤞🏽

GlitteryGreen · 22/03/2022 10:06

Just checking in :)
