Thanks for starting it @Winterfellismyhome into the final bit of pregnancy now!

CucumberCool · 20/01/2022 14:31

It's all getting a bit real!

Sleepyquest · 20/01/2022 17:32

Hi everyone. Wonder when these babies will start arriving! I agree that it has gone super fast with the exception for these last few weeks Grin

AtomicSquash · 20/01/2022 19:02

I definitely feel like things are starting to slow down now, I'm not due till the 27th Feb so still what feels like an age to wait, but excited to start seeing some babies arriving!

Hope2022 · 20/01/2022 20:14

Thanks @Winterfellismyhome it’s going to be an exciting few weeks!

tierneytarny · 20/01/2022 20:25

It’s so exciting isn’t it?! I’m trying to keep myself in check by saying I could go 2 weeks over (I hope I don’t!)

Sunshine8888 · 20/01/2022 20:33

Thanks for the new thread 😊

AndTheyLivedHappilyEverAfter · 20/01/2022 20:40

Thanks for the new thread. The title of it terrified me 😳. It really is getting so real now, eeeeeeeeek!

Yotofan · 20/01/2022 23:13

Is anyone a member of the fb group that could add me? I was a member before and then life got in the way

Skybooks · 21/01/2022 01:51

Checking in for the last thread.

Currently can't sleep due to head ache (tested positive for covid Wednesday,)

37 weeks need baby to stay out until I've recovered.

Skybooks · 21/01/2022 01:51

In not out obviously

BabyFeb22 · 21/01/2022 06:10

Sorry if this is going to be a TMI post! Ended up having my 34 week midwife appointment over the phone yesterday and she was talking to me about birth plan and everything (all fine). Something she did say though was that I needed to start perineal massage, I don't know why but this completely threw me! Does anyone do this/done this in previous pregnancies and does it help? Not going to lie my partner would have to do it as there's no way I can reach hahha. He would happily do it and I know he'll take it seriously and not turn it into anything else but the thought is kinda creeping me out and I don't know why 😂 x

miracle2022 · 21/01/2022 06:31

@BabyFeb22 I'm doing it as was advised to as well. Much easier if husband does it as agreed it is difficult to reach and do it properly otherwise. Supposed to help with getting baby's head out and to avoid tears as the massage is supposed to make that area more supple, elasticated and stretchy. Bit uncomfortable at times but every little helps I guess!

FebBabyNo1 · 21/01/2022 07:35

Good morning all,

Haven't posted in here before but thought now is the time to say hello!

Due Feb 6 but as baby is growing in 90 percentile, I have convinced myself I'll be induced early.

Off for my final growth scan today (37w 5d) and can't help but think she'll get an early eviction notice today, off the back of it!

Anyone in a similar position or think they might be when the time comes?

Good luck, Mamas!

glasspaw · 21/01/2022 08:32

@FebBabyNo1 how exciting! Hope the scan goes well!

I’ve convinced myself that mine will be here w/c 14th Feb even though I’m not due until 21st. I have absolutely no basis for thinking that though 😅 pure wishful thinking because I’m too excited to wait longer.

CucumberCool · 21/01/2022 10:22

@glasspaw
Hey, wanna swap ? I'm down for 14th but want 22nd... We could just swap right?! 😊

Regarding perineal massage I've heard really good things. Lots of info on techniques online.
I'm not in the greatest place with my partner at the moment so trying to do it myself with a vibrator!!

Also tried a bit of hand expressing in the shower this morning, didn't get anything but didn't really expect to. I know you have to be relaxed but I feel far far from it at the moment.

Aren't we meant to be look after by our partners during this last bit and not wound up and undermined?! 😟

glasspaw · 21/01/2022 11:12

@PrettyPlatapus haha, yeah I’m pretty sure we can just swap due dates 😂

Jellybean023 · 21/01/2022 14:56

Hi all checking in to the new thread. I’m. 36+1 today. Had my final growth scan yesterday and baby is estimated at 7lb already, so I’m now sincerely hoping he arrives early or he’s likely to be a whopper.

KiwiDramaQueen · 21/01/2022 15:05

Whoop whoop! Exciting times everyone. I just logged off at work to start mat leave and I'm start to feel that sense of excited anticipation you get before Christmas.

Sunshine8888 · 21/01/2022 22:47

Is anyone else feeling nervous about the birth? I haven’t forgotten what it was like first time round and saying I’d never do it again and here I am… I’m terrified!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 21/01/2022 22:59

Baby arrived this morning at 38 weeks, not named yet as we still haven't chosen one! But he's doing great and we can leave hospital after a health check tomorrow morning.

Re: perineal massage, I def think it's worth doing. I got the Aniball device on recommendation from friends and used it for 15 mins every other day from week 35. It's a pelvic floor trainer, and gets you used to the sensation of birthing a baby, crowning, how to push and not tear etc, and the breathing for pelvic control. I had an unexpected back to back birth. The midwives and Drs were shocked as a FTM and with a back to back generally that I didn't need forceps, episiotomy, or have tears. So for me it was worth it. On the opposite days I just used olive or coconut and gently stretched the skin

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 21/01/2022 23:06

And yes @FebBabyNo1 my whopper with a 97% centile abdomen, a GD mother, and large growth scans was born two weeks early weighing only 7lb. I bought all larger clothes as a result of the growth scans 🤣 he'd only have been 8 lb ish if at term

glasspaw · 21/01/2022 23:07

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 omg congratulations! Glad to hear baby is well :)

I hope you don’t mind me asking, but did you go into labour spontaneously or were you induced? I’ve been reading stats on when first babies arrive to try and give myself some hope that he’ll come early because I’m fed up of being pregnant 😂

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 21/01/2022 23:10

@glasspaw induced sorry! Because I had gestational diabetes. However I got in and on the trace machine and turns out the period pain feelings id had for a few days were starting contractions. I know how you feel so hope he comes early! X

FebBabyNo1 · 21/01/2022 23:55

A huge congratulations @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 - how exciting! How are you feeling? Bet you can't wait to get home!

Consultant and midwives agreed I'd be induced at 39 weeks next Sunday due to hypertension. They were all very happy to keep a bigger baby in until 40 but worry about preeclampsia becoming an issue.

So the countdown is on for me!

And yes @Sunshine8888 - I'm getting really nervous, now! I just hope I do a good job for my little girl Confused
