@glasspaw my first was born naturally at 38 weeks 5 days. I was due to be induced at 39 weeks due to GD but we beat them to it.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 massive congratulations. Also pleased to hear supposed whoppers don’t always turn out that way. I was diagnosed with GD at 35 weeks (exactly the same as with my first) and baby is measuring on 89th centile at 36 weeks so a bit nervous about size. I’m seeing the consultant next week and expecting they’ll offer me an early induction again due to GD but it’ll still likely be 39 weeks. DD1 was only 6lb 10 at birth despite GD but she was also measuring small on scans.

glasspaw · 22/01/2022 15:40

@Jellybean023 amazing! that is the kind of positivity I need right now 😂 (I’m only half kidding, I was reading about someone who got to 42 weeks last night and the idea of it taking that long genuinely makes me want to cry)

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 22/01/2022 15:44

@Jellybean023 oh hope this one comes similarly early for you also!

I know, I didn't think the scans would be that off. I bought all three month clothing based on them, and even newborn is big and I've only got three items of it as thought it would be a waste 😂

Hope2022 · 22/01/2022 16:01

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 congratulations 🥳
Hope you’re all doing okay!
Exciting to hear little ones are starting to arrive now!! 🤩

penguin303 · 22/01/2022 19:31

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Congratulations! Sounds a lovely birth. Also glad to hear your expected big baby was actually an average size, mine is expected 9lb+ at birth based on growth scans and have been really thrown on how much clothing of each size to buy!

Sunshine8888 · 23/01/2022 08:48

Congrats @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7, wonderful news! Do you mind me asking how you found induction? I’m booked for a week tomorrow and I’m feeling nervous. Did you have a sweep beforehand?

Peachi82 · 23/01/2022 10:07

Just checking in into the new thread!
So exciting so read that the first babies have arrived! ❤

I'm OK here, GD sucks and I'm so tired and don't really have the energy got lots of time on the playground or anything.
Baby stuff and hospital bag is all sorted.
I have another growth scan next week and they will then decide when to bring on induction/elcs.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 23/01/2022 11:25

Thanks so much everyone.

@Sunshine8888 it honestly was okay. I expected it to be awful, but it was a positive experience. I wanted a sweep first but wasn't aware they could only do one if your cervix is open already - I think about 2cm according to the midwife. Mine was closed. But after one pessary it was open enough and I had a sweep. Had contractions but not enough to dilate to active labour. I found the pessary relatively painless, the sweep okay, and the breaking of the waters I was dreading but it was fine and about the same as the sweep for slight discomfort. The syntocinon drip can be started off low and turned up slightly every half hour - I didn't realise this I thought once you were on it you were stuck. It can also be paused or turned down if it gets too intense. So you can start without pain relief if you want, and then pause it for an epidural later if you choose. Check with your midwife but mine was lovely and paused it for an hour five hours in so I could get an epidural. Epidural was fab, I barely topped it up so I could walk around, bounce, labour on all fours etc and up on knees. However that meant it only took away 50% of pain, but I was fully alert and able to feel contractions and push.

Was petrified to have an induction, but I'd have another one. Have been up and about the day after, no pain relief after needed, and my sister was also with hers. I think my antenatal class and some of the threads terrified me about interventions etc, but the midwife said that's not the full story and a lot of people have really positive easy inductions.

Good luck lovely x

Sunshine8888 · 23/01/2022 12:44

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 thank you so much, that’s really reassuring to read and hear. I’m so scared of that drip and needing an epidural ! I had my first baby spontaneously and she came really quickly, I was fully dilated within 1.5 hours and she was out after another hour or so of pushing so there was no option for pain relief. I’m so scared to do it all again

CucumberCool · 23/01/2022 13:08

As a FTM the detail you guys give is so so helpful! Thank you!

With regard to quick labour and births, can they be just as scary as no time to prepare and focus on what's happening? Sounds like we've had a few quickies, at least some members of this group have experienced this perviously or this time round.

FebBabyNo1 · 23/01/2022 13:51

We're booked in for induction on Sunday morning (30.1.22) at 39 weeks and have three sweeps before-hand.

I was so focused on the doctor talking about the induction plans, I think I based everything on Sunday.

But am I being unrealistic in thinking we'll reach Sunday? How successful are sweeps likely to be?

I'm so nervous!

Skybooks · 24/01/2022 08:10

@PrettyPlatapus DS#1 was born very quickly at 39 weeks and I felt totally fine afterwards until I tried to to comprehend how quickly I went from family dinner at my mum's to holding my baby.

I had 24 mins from arriving at hospital car park to delivery, no time.for pain relief or even a hospital band. Everything was fine however and baby has always been a bit quick!

This time round I'm panicking I might have to labour for quite a while or even hit my due date so there's no guarantees in this.

Good luck however it happens.

apricotoreos · 24/01/2022 09:54

Hi ladies, nearly there now.
I am feeling pretty done with pregnancy, had some lower back pain last night which rattled me a bit but its gone away now. I want him to make his entrance soon but preferably not feet first like he trying at the moment.
Is anyone else finding their dreams particularly vivid now? I dreamed I made a very fancy cheesecake I had never made before. I woke up before I got to eat it but the smell and process were clear as anything in my mind so I got the ingredients I used in the dream and made it without a recipe and it was lovely Grin

laalaaleelee · 24/01/2022 10:38

Haha @apricotoreos that's so funny! Nothing more disappointing when you're about to tuck into something tasty and wake up!

CucumberCool · 24/01/2022 10:56

@apricotoreos
Yes! So vidid!! It's takes minute or two when I wake up to realise that it was a dream and not real!

CucumberCool · 24/01/2022 11:00

@Skybooks

Gosh! 24 minutes!

I've a puzzle book and novel in my bag to try to temp fate a little 😉 hopefully won't be in long enough to be bored but equally would be nice if I could time to process!

Best of luck to you too!

catinthehat12 · 24/01/2022 11:55

@apricotoreos Yes to the vivid dreams!! I had them all the time in first trimester and early second, they soon settled but they have come back now with a vengeance. They tend to be useless odd scenarios but the dreams I have about baby are so odd, often the baby is asleep for 8+ hours and I get stressed as I had forgotten about them?

I am just coming up 36 weeks and starting to get so impatient, had some cramping in the night and just have a general feeling of period pains that come and go. I feel so huge now and I am sure it gets worse but I can’t see how I could get any bigger!

BabyFeb22 · 24/01/2022 15:12

So exciting that babies are starting to arrive! I find out Wednesday if I will need to be induced or not when I see the consultant, 35 weeks today so they said that even if needing induced will try and get me to 37! I've woke up today though and my bump has dropped! Feels so weird like I almost don't have a bump anymore but being able to sit down without feeling like I can't breathe is lovely haha

MollyQueenOfSocks · 24/01/2022 16:14

How exciting! Good luck everyone Flowers in case I miss anyone's announcement!

I'm technically not February anymore as my Csection is on Friday but to be honest I got such amazing advice and info here from all you ladies and it was so helpful talking to women around the same amount of weeks as me.

I honestly read every response to me even if I didn't reply and it was lovely to have the support.

Winterfellismyhome · 24/01/2022 18:16

Another pre feb baby here! Baby girl was born at 4.05 via elective section. She's perfect 💖
