Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@PrettyPlatapus, a quick labour isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it just got very intense very quickly and there were no options for pain relief. I also had to have an episiotomy to get her head out without tearing. The recovery was good though

Huge congrats @Winterfellismyhome

CucumberCool · 25/01/2022 09:21

@Winterfellismyhome

Ah! Congratulations!! X

Congratulations @Winterfellismyhome! Hope you're recovering well x

Sunshine8888 · 25/01/2022 13:13

Just had my sweep at 38+2! Midwife said I’m 2-3cm dilated and the head was right there. She scored me a 9 on the bishops score. Booked for a second on Friday if nothing happens before. I’m also so relieved as she said that even if I am induced next week I will just need my waters to be broken so no need for balloon / pessary

BabyFeb22 · 25/01/2022 13:42

Seeing everyone getting so close is actually making me excited to see the consultant tomorrow! Actually half hoping they give me a date she will come rather than them say just go into labour when you do! X

becarefuloutthere · 25/01/2022 19:27

@Sunshine8888 do you know how many sweeps you can have in a week? I saw the consultant today (36 weeks today) and she said I can start them at 39 weeks and has also booked me a ballon induction at 40+1 if the sweeps don't kick start it. Were you due to have the balloon/pessary if things didn't start? I opted for balloon as you can go home but my sister just told me that she's heard it's really painful 😣

tierneytarny · 25/01/2022 20:45

I’m wondering if things are starting for me. Definitely lost a decent amount of my mucus plug today (I’ve been losing bits of it for weeks) and now have quite an upset stomach and some cramping 🙈
I’m excited but all of a sudden frightened 🤣

teaandchocolate1 · 25/01/2022 20:51

Exciting to read everyone's posts xx I'm currently 35 weeks and 2 days and still have to wait a bit longer 😁

Sunshine8888 · 25/01/2022 21:05

@becarefuloutthere I think you can have a sweep every 2-3 days? Yes I would have had the balloon next week if I wasnt dilated enough. Haven’t had any contractions but do feel a lot of pressure down there and crampy period like pains and backache after the sweep. Not sure if it means anything…

becarefuloutthere · 25/01/2022 21:56

@Sunshine8888 interesting, hope things start moving soon for you. 🤞🏾Do you get to see the midwife again soon?

Sunshine8888 · 25/01/2022 22:19

@becarefuloutthere back on Friday for another sweep

AlreadyThere · 25/01/2022 22:44

Let me join in.

Currently 35+1 and getting a CS in exactly 2 weeks at 37 weeks. Concerns with growth and previous operations.

FTM- this is becoming all too real for me. Exciting and terrifying.

Congrats everyone whose baby has arrived ❤️❤️

FebBabyNo1 · 25/01/2022 23:07

Due an induction this Sunday (30.1.22) at 39 weeks and I've JUST tested covid positive on an LFT.

PANIC!

Booked in for PCR first thing tomorrow but assume results won't come in until Friday..

I'm due another sweep on Thursday so will obviously speak to midwife in the morning.

Does anyone have any knowledge on what a positive induction looks like?

Parnter is currently testing negative but likely he'll catch it by then. Will he be allowed in with me still if we're kept off the ward?

If not, would I be allowed to postpone the induction date so we're both clear?

Arrgh! Sad

SouthwestSis · 26/01/2022 04:50

Oh what a shame @FebBabyNo1
Do you know how you caught it?

I guess how willing they are to postpone it depends on why they are doing induction, which will dictate how urgent it is. They might at least let you put it off a couple of days until you are less infectious.
Mine was put off 2 days anyway as there was not enough beds/staff free for me to have it the day I was booked for mine.

FebBabyNo1 · 26/01/2022 04:56

@SouthwestSis my very best friend came over for one last coffee on Saturday before we began isolating ready for induction. She had PCRed two days before and LFTed every day but then tested positive Sunday morning.

We kept our distance the whole time but sat in the same room. It's just sods law!

Induction is related to high (but medicated) blood pressure so it may be that they're okay to delay a day or two (taking me past the new 5 day isolation) as long as I continue to monitor BP.

And just keeping fingers and toes crossed that DP doesn't catch it off me now!

SouthwestSis · 26/01/2022 05:02

Ah that is such bad luck!

Tbh it's only 5 full days isolation if you have negative lfts on day 5 and day 6 and I've never known anyone be negative on their LFT before day 7 or 8 anyway.

Hopefully you can avoid partner catching it and all will be OK, crossing my fingers for you!
Perhaps you will go into spontaneous labour next week and not need the induction afterall

FebBabyNo1 · 26/01/2022 05:17

@SouthwestSis - very true, that's my wishful thinking!

I'm just sat waiting for the clock to turn 9am so I can speak to the antenatal team at the hospital.

We'll see! Thank you for your messages xx

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 26/01/2022 05:32

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7

And yes *@FebBabyNo1* my whopper with a 97% centile abdomen, a GD mother, and large growth scans was born two weeks early weighing only 7lb. I bought all larger clothes as a result of the growth scans 🤣 he'd only have been 8 lb ish if at term
I'm hoping this is the case for me too. I'm really fretting about the supposed size as was estimated to be over 7.5lbs a couple of weeks ago. I'm 37wks now and if it doesn't come early it could be huge! I had a bad enough time with my 7lb baby a couple of years ago. It's constantly flipping to transverse and back every couple of days and I wish it would just stay transverse so I could be guaranteed a CS.
Sunshine8888 · 26/01/2022 06:25

Oh no @FebBabyNo1 I really hope you and your partner are ok and you can delay induction 🤞🏻 Not sure if it’s different for each trust but here if you test positive but your partner is negative they can still be with you. If they are positive though they can’t be.

I’ve been in discomfort all night since the sweep and barely slept. Having irregular contractions now but doesn’t seem to be any pattern yet and they’re far apart. I honestly don’t know what’s going on as with my daughter my waters broke before I had any contractions and that’s def not happened. I feel like this could be a long, exhausting experience!

Jane7891 · 26/01/2022 15:27

Hello everyone! I’ve been MIA for some time now but love catching up on all the messages! It’s so exciting that people are starting to give birth! I can’t wait! I’m a FTM & currently 36+5 and was wondering if anyone has used Tens machines in previous labours, and if so what were your thoughts? Im thinking of getting one to try but I don’t know whether to buy one or just rent.. what have you ladies done in the past?

Anyway I hope you’re all doing well, not long to go now ladies Smile

Sleepyquest · 26/01/2022 15:50

Congratulations to those with babies here already!
I have a week to go! DD was born on due date so we shall see Grin

Skybooks · 26/01/2022 15:57

@febbabyno1 I'm 38 weeks tomorrow and day 8 after testing positive last week. I started to get symptoms 12 hours after testing positive and had 2 days of bad cold type symptoms/no sleep but have been fine since. Call your local midwife team, mine have been great and checked in with me each day and offered great advice and support.

Hope you feel well.

Pm me if you want to chat

Winterfellismyhome · 26/01/2022 16:45

Thank you everyone. In a bit of pain but managing okay

@Jane7891

I've just ordered a TENs machine to rent for 7 weeks off these guys - birthease.co.uk/tens/.
Went for a rental seems pretty cost effective (around £27 with spare pads) as I am thinking of buying one for my partner anyway who has chronic back issues. This way we can both give it a go for a reasonable amount of time before committing to one.

If you're only ever going to use it for labour, surely renting is best?

MollyQueenOfSocks · 26/01/2022 22:37

Congratulations @Winterfellismyhome on having your baby!

Good luck again to all still waiting. I need to catch up properly but I've been hospitalised with covid, had all sorts of scans and ended up treated for potential clots in the lungs.

Thankfully the last CT showed no clots and after chatting with the consultant I am officially brought forward again and on the list for tomorrow morning! Baby will be here before midday as long as no emergency sections come in before my slot!
