Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Sleepyquest · 29/01/2022 13:02

@Winterfellismyhome

So, so far we have 2 boys and a girl? Anyone else feeling like its going to be soon?
Every day I hope it will happen and then it doesn't Grin
tierneytarny · 30/01/2022 06:36

I’ve jumped from reading every tiny little sign as it possibly starting to hoping it doesn’t as I’ve just tested positive for Covid.

Just looking for some advice from those who have tested positive as bar saying ‘take paracetamol if needed’, my midwife hasn’t given any advice beyond I can give birth in hospital whilst Covid positive (which I obviously knew!). I’ve been boostered etc so not sure what should be advised or done whilst I’m in late pregnancy and covid positive. Please can anyone share their experience.

Congratulations to all the ladies who’s little ones have arrived ❤️

Lionnose · 30/01/2022 06:43

@tierneytarny so sorry to hear that. How far along are you? How are you feeling? Has your birth partner got it? That’s my biggest worry that my husband won’t be able to attend.
I’m 37+5 and covid positive. I’ve had the same advice from my midwives. I’m not sure what to suggest. From day 5 take your LFT’s. Rest if you can (hard here with a VERY bored 3 yr old) hope you get through it without a baby arriving! Good luck

Lionnose · 30/01/2022 06:46

@PissedOffNeighbour22
This all sounds like a nightmare. Glad you have finally had your ELCS agreed but hope you don’t have to stay in for 2 weeks. Keep us updated!

tierneytarny · 30/01/2022 06:53

@Lionnose thankfully DH is avoiding it at the moment. Similar situation in this house with a boisterous toddler who is fed up. I’m 38+6. Track and trace have confused me with dates too so no real idea when I am due out of isolation. Tested positive on a LFT last Wednesday but they’ve pushed my date backwards as I suffered from an upset stomach 2 days before and they’re treating that as me having symptoms. I don’t know what to do for the best. LFT still showing very clear positives so unlikely I’ll be out early but as it stands I am out of isolation on Friday, though I still think it probably should be a week today based on the LFT. So close to due date and petrified of going in to labour and DH testing positive and not being there.

Lionnose · 30/01/2022 07:08

@tierneytarny I really hope your husband avoids it as if he caught it now it would be a disaster. Can your toddler go to childcare? Hope you can get some rest and feel better soon!

tierneytarny · 30/01/2022 10:33

@Lionnose unfortunately no childcare (childminder policy). Fingers crossed this is short lived for us both and our husbands stay negative and can be at the birth!

SouthwestSis · 30/01/2022 10:36

@tierneytarny what awful luck!
You should be safe having been jabbed and boosted but try to drink plenty and remain as mobile as possible whilst home to reduce the likelihood of blood clots.
Get some friends or family to bring you something nice during isolation (sadly your chances of having a negative lateral flow by day 5 are pretty low bit its worth a try).
Has your toddler had covid already that you know of?

tierneytarny · 30/01/2022 11:12

@SouthwestSis it is horrible luck; here’s hoping baby stays put. Toddler hasn’t had covid (yet£; I think this is why the childminder is being extra cautious. Poor child has had more PCRs than anyone I know to keep him in childcare. I’m yet to hear anyone get an early negative on a LFT so not holding my breath. I’m going to do jobs and walk around the garden a bit today to keep mobile.

becarefuloutthere · 30/01/2022 18:15

@BabyFeb22 good luck for tomorrow, I hope they provide answers! I'm booked in for an induction 23rd feb so at least I know she'll arrive by the time the week is out 🙏🏾
@Winnie87 congratulations 🥳
@Sunshine8888 thanks for sharing. I've ordered a tens machine to have that to start with, with the gas and air and if she doesn't turn and it's getting unbearable then I'll be going for the epidural too. I'm glad all worked out well for you and he arrived safely! Wow that feeding sounds exhausting, well done 👏🏾 that's really impressive
@PissedOffNeighbour22 oh jeez that all sounds stressful! What's been decided?

So sorry to hear about those with covid. Hope you recover soon and can labour with your partners 🤞🏾

Sunshine8888 · 31/01/2022 01:42

@becarefuloutthere that’s ok! Best to be prepared I think. What I would say is don’t be scared of the epidural. There is no one waiting with a medal at the end of labour. I was so surprised at how much movement I still had. I only had a small section numbed so I could move around on the bed still and I could feel everything when pushing which was painful but probably saved me from any serious tearing (just a few stitches needed whereas I had to have an episiotomy with my first who was a whole 3lbs lighter). I gave birth kneeling up over the back of the bed so you can see I could still support myself somewhat. My thinking was also that if he didn’t turn I’d end up in theatre anyway so may as well take it! If it had properly worked on both sides - which hopefully it does for most people) I think it would have been the most incredible relief ever!! I had to stay in hospital 12 hours after but Oscar and I were discharged the next morning. Hope this is helpful x

becarefuloutthere · 31/01/2022 08:42

@Sunshine8888 so helpful thank you 🙏🏾 x

Dogt17 · 31/01/2022 09:33

Anyone else can’t quite believe that they’ll have a baby within this next month? I’m due in 2 weeks so even if he’s late by this time next month I’ll have a baby!

becarefuloutthere · 31/01/2022 11:18

@Dogt17 I know it's madness isn't it! Scary and exciting in equal measure. To think that feb is tomorrow is still blowing my mind, it seemed so far away and now it's round the corner 😬

feb2022 · 31/01/2022 11:56

@Dogt17 I know!
I'm so exited but equally as nervous, I'm not due until 28th but I've got a feeling she will arrive early, I've got so much pressure down there...4 long weeks to go for me I hope they go quickly, but not too quickly 😂
I've still got so much to do 😲

Dogt17 · 31/01/2022 12:57

I’m not ready at all for my baby’s arrival. I still haven’t packed our hospital bags or washed his things. It’s just come round so quick and some how caught me by surprise even though I’ve been building up to this for 9 months lol. His sister was a week early so I really need to get my act together this week and get everything sorted!

feb2022 · 31/01/2022 14:14

@Dogt17 I haven't done bags either 😲
I still haven't put most of her things away
And my house is like a builders yard with decorating things everywhere, i can finally get organised on Wednesday when I get a carpet down in my boys bedroom and get that sorted (they are sharing a room) so baby will have her own room, mainly so I can store her things in there if im honest she wouldn't need to be in there for another 6 months 😂

Sleepyquest · 31/01/2022 14:17

Getting so impatient! Bag is packed, crib is up, childcare sorted. Come on baby!!

Hope everyone is feeling ok Smile

FebBabyNo1 · 31/01/2022 15:14

@tierneytarny I'm on day 6 after testing positive last week. 39+1 here and also incredibly stressed about DP catching it as hospital have confirmed he won't be allowed in.

Due to be induced on Wednesday. I have such little energy that standing up is an effort; I have no idea how I'm going to push out a baby!

I am pretty sure that testing negative on day 5+6 is a myth - I don't know ANYbody that has had such luck, ha!

Have you been given blood thinner injections? You should also be provided with a SATs machine to keep a check on oxygen levels.

Lots of rest to keep building energy, Paracetamol and lots of fluids is all I've been told.

I really hope you stay well and your partner stays clear Star

tierneytarny · 31/01/2022 17:30

@FebBabyNo1 oh no, you poor thing! I’m feeling quite lousy right now. A little disappointed with the midwives at the moment as literally bar a quick call (about something else but then touching on covid) I haven’t heard from them. No idea what I’m meant to be doing. I bought an oximeter at the start of the pandemic so I’ve been using that and monitoring my temperature too but nothing about blood thinners or anything.

I hope your DP stays negative. Husband is still negative thankfully.

I’m yet to hear of anyone escaping at day 5/6 (or even day 7!).

All the best for Wednesday ❤️

Dogt17 · 31/01/2022 18:13

@feb2022 we are half way through painting the hallway as it got plastered a couple of weeks ago. I had our living room & dining room carpets professionally cleaned on Wednesday so we had to take everything out & then put it all back in again. I had a guy come today to measure up for new cushion floor in the kitchen & I plan on going Ikea in Wednesday. Really I should be packing our hospital bags. Why do we do it to ourselves? 😆

BabyFeb22 · 31/01/2022 18:18

So glad I'm not the only one not feeling prepared! I do have my hospital bag packed and in the car but I'll end up having to take it out and put stuff in that I've forgot haha. Been to see the growth specialist today- he's happy with her bones and said no abnormalities, she's still showing as slightly small but yet again was pointed out to me that I'm short so more than likely just taking after me 😂. One thing that did throw me a bit is that on Thursday they had her estimated weight at 5lbs and today it's at 4lbs 7! I questioned it and they said it's more than likely just how she's laid but feel due to this when we see consultant on 9th he's going to induce! Has anyone else had any experience of this? She has growth since Thursday so not sure if she is just being awkward in how she's laid

Lionnose · 31/01/2022 18:49

@BabyFeb22 I’ve heard that it’s VERY hard for them to be accurate on the weight in a scan. I know when I went for my growth scan she said she was really struggling to get a head measurement and also I’ve had friends who have been told they have a big baby/ small baby and it hasn’t been the case. I wouldn’t worry about a few oz I’m sure it’s just as you said, the way the baby is positioned on the day. Glad to hear they aren’t worried about the baby.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 31/01/2022 20:42

@becarefuloutthere thanks for asking. I've been admitted to the ward tonight as the baby is slightly off to one side so they're still classing that as transverse. I wasn't due to see my consultant until tomorrow after my scan this morning as they cocked up with the appointment.
Nurses agree with me that I should have waited until the consultant could make the decision tomorrow but as there were no doctors in all day at my hospital they sent me in to the main one.
Keeping my fingers crossed that at some point I can be sent home as I still have almost 2wks until my ELCS.

feb2022 · 01/02/2022 09:11

@BabyFeb22 with my second son I was sent for scans and I was told he would only be about 5-6lbs born as he was measuring small... he was a very healthy 8lbs 7oz of pure perfection!
I'd definitely take any measurements on weight/size with a pinch of salt, apparently he was just scrunched up into a little ball in my tummy, he still does this now actually at the age of 2 😂
