We are using Aldi ones and no issues so far, but we have had to go a size smaller than their weights say because little one has such skinny legs. Maybe try a slightly smaller size if possible?

BabyFeb22 · 07/03/2022 15:16

We're using a mixture of Asda and aldi- not having any leaks but are finding the Asda ones a little better just because she's small and they seem to fit a bit better. We were using pampers size 0 which were great but we just can't afford them against the Asda and aldi prices!

feb2022 · 07/03/2022 16:06

Wilkos do nappies and I've recently tried them and they seem good so far
I also use Aldi or Asda ones and no problem
How is everyone getting on with settling their babies of a night time?
My little one sleeps all day at the moment and then she's up all night 😅
We've been doing half night shifts taking turns to "hold her to sleep" 😂
Ohh and really struggling with the wind too

BabyFeb22 · 07/03/2022 16:13

Yeah I've seen online that Asda do size 0 but trying to find them in store is a miracle 😂. Sleeping- she had just started to get into let's call it a 'routine' of sleeping for 2.5 hours then getting up then back down through the night but the last 24 hours she seems to have realised she can stay awake so it's been a case of her fighting sleep- she's had about 3 hours in the last 20 hours! She's finally dropped off now and been asleep for a while 45 mins so far whic is the most she's done in one go since yesterday 😂

Maddie020 · 07/03/2022 23:27

@Sleepyquest : nah, still no sign, how about you? Xx

@AAllen56 : how are you lovely, have you got the baby? My induction is planned for tomorrow but not sure if I should go for it or wait for nature to take its call xx

swiggles · 13/03/2022 03:50

Hi! How is everyone getting on? I am guessing that no one is still waiting for their Feb due baby?
We are still struggling to establish feeding so combination feeding at the moment to get baby's weight up. How is everyone coping with the sleepless nights? Best I've had is 4 hours broken up as little one will only sleep on a person at the mo.

feb2022 · 13/03/2022 07:23

@swiggles hey!
Yeah not much sleep here, we've been splitting the night in half so we both get a few hours of a night, so I'll usually do from 10pm until 2am and then we will swap over and I'll go and get in bed until about 6 when my boys get up 😅
She's constantly hungry though, sleeps all day and up all night

AtomicSquash · 13/03/2022 07:38

We are also struggling with feeding, he has suspected tongue tie and we're waiting on an appointment with a specialist. Sleep isn't too bad at the moment though. I reckon I'm getting about 6hrs broken sleep on a good night. My partner is doing a feed in the middle of the night with expressed milk which is helping a lot!

CucumberCool · 13/03/2022 15:21

I'm breastfeeding and haven't tried with a bottle. My little is three weeks ish now, going to aim for about 6 weeks to introduce a bottle I think, just to make sure we have breastfeeding completely down first.

What ages did you guys start to use bottles?

I'm finding breastfeeding really hard and painful and very nervous about feeding in public! I want to use bottles with expressed milk for out and about and also so my partner can do the night shift!

Jellybean023 · 13/03/2022 17:19

@PrettyPlatapus we introduced a bottle at around 3 weeks but only plan to use occasionally. Little one isn’t totally keen to start with but has taken some milk from it then topped up with breast. We’ll keep trying as it’s useful when travelling etc as you say. We did the same with our first and she took to it pretty well. What I find hardest is all the expressing to be honest!!

CucumberCool · 13/03/2022 17:55

@Jellybean023
Expressing without increasing supply is a nightmare. I'm using a haaka to express around 30ml to calm my flow down a bit or little just chokes and splutters! Also helps with latch I think. I've by accidentally sprayed her in the face a few times also! 🤭 I'm building up quite the supply in the freezer!

What are you using and how often/much are you expressing?

swiggles · 13/03/2022 18:20

LO here is also feeding all the time so it is exhausting! Thankfully feeding is no longer that painful, to begin with I really struggled with sore nipples, no amount of nipple cream was soothing. I used some silver cups which a midwife recommended and they were amazing! I've also been prescribed donperidone to help with increasing my supply but really worried about taking it because of the side effects, anyone else in similar situation? Have an appointment with feeding consultant this week to review and to decide whether to go for it or continue with what we're doing.
Re bottles- one of the midwives told me that babies have a suck reflex for the first few weeks so will take a bottle but then they loose it if not offered so sometimes can be why they refuse.

Jellybean023 · 13/03/2022 18:20

@PrettyPlatapus I have a medela swing electric pump and a Hakka which I try to use together. Only getting about 50ml at a time at the moment but haven’t been expressing regularly, just as and when needed. I haven’t got any stock built up yet.

SouthwestSis · 13/03/2022 19:59

I love my haakaa, I find i get most when I use it on the other boob during night feeds, but it can be hard to keep it on when it starts filling up and I'm in a night time haze!
We introduced a bottle here around 3 weeks so my OH can give some expressed milk at night, but we don't do any more than 1 bottle in 24hrs, and are using the paced bottle feeding method to make sure baby doesn't develop a bottle preference.
If you're struggling with supply I'd really recommend getting as much skin to skin as possible, I walk around the house in my bra and dressing gown a lot!

AtomicSquash · 14/03/2022 12:22

We started with the bottle at 2 weeks, would have waited a bit longer but because of the tongue tie we wanted to make sure he was definitely getting atleast one full feed. We have done similar to Southwest though and limited him to one bottle feed per 24hrs and have been using the 0 newborn mam teat to try and avoid bottle preference. I have read between 3 and 6 weeks is best for introducing a bottle to a breastfed baby. With my first we didn't give him a bottle until he was 4 months and he would never take one even after we tried all the tricks and tons of different bottles and teats.

How is everyone getting on with their little bundles?
My little lady will be 3 weeks old on Friday, and she's still sleeping most of the day and partying all night 😉
I think she's getting a little cold too she's very snuffly at the minute

swiggles · 22/03/2022 15:46

Hi @feb2022! We are much the same, a new cold every week at the moment. Still finding our feet with feeding at 5 weeks but managing to get out and about a lot more now. Just feeling a bit guilty for not being able to spend as much time with my older DC as spend so much time sat feeding!

feb2022 · 22/03/2022 21:02

@swiggles I get that too, I feel like my older 2 are a bit left out and the guilt is awful, I have been trying to fuss over them more than usual just so they don't get jealous but it's so hard as 90% of my time I'm on the sofa feeding or burping 😅

swiggles · 22/03/2022 22:50

Glad it's not just us still trying to find our way with all the changes. How old are your older DC @feb2023? My DC is going to be 2 in a couple of weeks, currently going through a I want to throw everything phase.

feb2022 · 22/03/2022 23:06

@swiggles ohhh yess I'm well and truly in the middle of that phase 😅
Mine turned 2 & 3 at Christmas, 2 year old is jumping and climbing everywhere and loves to throw
And my 3 year old is having monumental tantrums 600 times an hour 😂
He had a tantrum this evening because he wanted to have his bath in the wooden bath... who even owns a wooden bath?

FebBabyNo1 · 23/03/2022 06:33

We had our six week check up yesterday. Six weeks! I can't believe how quick it's flying by.

My little one has had a sniffly cold for about a week now (health visitor yesterday said it's likely to be and on off up to 3 months while everything settles down for her).

We are doing saline drops 15 mins before a feed, about 4 times a day - which is helping - but poor thing gets herself in a pickle when sleeping on her back at night. She's just so congested :(

Any tips?

Hope everyone's getting on great.

Aside from the cold, ours is just dreamy. She BFs so well with a great latch and, due to being in NICU for her first couple of days, is also used to taking a bottle really well, too.

FebBabyNo1 · 23/03/2022 06:34

By the way: never try and handprint a six week old... What a mess! Haha :)

@febbabyno1
That's such a lovely card!
Haha we gave up with trying to get hands! She just had closed fists and when we pryed them open it was a smudge!! Just opted for feet in the end...

feb2022 · 24/03/2022 10:09

@BabyFeb22 the congestion is awful isn't it
We're also using the saline spray stuff which helps, my little lady still doesn't sleep at night time 😅... which is great until you have to run around after 2 boisterous toddlers all day too 😂
Also here's a pic of the most gorgeous hair (obvs can't show her face on here)😍
The heartburn was unreal haha

I've got one of them printing kits upstairs and I'm yet to get it out 😂.. it is on my to-do list for today I'll let you know how it goes
Beautiful card btw! I just love sentimental things like that so thoughtful x
