I meant I'm off sick for the next 3 weeks and then 2 weeks till my Al starts. So 5 weeks till I go off, 9 weeks to go tomorrow. How the hell is it nearly here? I've got everything but tbh I'm worried about coping with 2 kids. At least this time round I have a bit of an idea what I'm doing x

Sakura54 · 07/01/2021 21:25

That’s bad. Problem after problem for you. Sorry @RosieJess91

@ew1990 Did her nursery close? I didn’t know homework from nursery existed. I'd like that but I think at ours, they mainly play all day.

@bubblybon20 Don’t feel bad, it’s great you’ve been given that choice. I think my decision would depend on how scared I was, what job my husband does and how easy it is to look after the kids and homeschool? I don’t know how it is to have older boys (only a bonkers toddler who I don’t have the energy to run around after all day, let alone when heavily pregnant) but my nephew is 7 and is sensible and able to attend online classes and complete homework. His mum is pregnant too lol, but is kinda strict and we are big on education. He’s used to doing homework and other learning so that may be why it’s not a struggle for them? Ideally, I’d want the whole family to stay indoors!

She had a successful 12w scan today (last time it was a blighted ovum and bleeding from the get go) so I’ll be getting a new niece/nephew in 6 months. My nephew was trying to determine the difference in the two unborn babies’ gestations and sizes right now so then asked me out loud: ‘Mummy’s baby is so small, so why is mummy so fat and you’re so skinny?’. Oh gosh.

Having my blood test tomorrow. The breathlessness and heart palpitations seems to be ok now but I still asked to get checked out in case. I’m also able to walk and feel normal. Maybe that day when I thought I was going to faint was just a one off, but still won’t be risking walking anywhere far alone. Still have to do the nursery run but it’s nearby, so just hoping my waters don’t suddenly break or I get pains in the street!

@sakura it's open to keyworker kids but they've asked me if it's possible to keep her at home because the number of kids they have in is very high.

I thought it was just playing but they've sent me the name card they gave her to practice writing her name, then there's loads of activities for me to do with her and like number games and stuff, it's good because I want her to learn but it's all just a bit overwhelming, you wouldn't think I've got my level 3 in childcare 🙈🙈 this was like 12 years ago now so I've forgot it all. I just don't want them to think that I can't be arsed when I don't really know what I'm doing. She's only just turned 3 so I'm not going to expect loads off her.

I hope your blood tests go well tomorrow and congratulations on the new neice or nephew.

Pugprincess · 07/01/2021 22:28

Oh no @RosieJess91 I hope you are through the worst of it now, so it's defo not tonsillitis or do you think covid has set that off as I used to suffer until I had my tonsils removed and a doc once explained that they are the first like of defence but it sometimes backfires as they themselves get infected.

@SkyBlue20 sorry to hear you are feeling anxious. Definitely be good to try anything that you think might help such as a scan.

I want to book a 4D scan does anybody else?

Feeling bloated and stomachs rock hard tonight. Definitely had an uncomfortable day. Do any of you find the stomach muscles get abit uncomfortable with the growing?

Regarding wfh I'm so glad I am. I've really quite enjoyed teaching online today and the day flew by. Weirdly cause I'm talking to my teacher on video and the kids I don't feel as lonely. So that's a positive. It's nice to enjoy teaching and not be wearing ppe and worrying about germs every second of the day. It's also giving my day some structure and routine. I was very worried about how my mental health would be affected but I'm feeling more confident that I might be OK. @JoJo58995 it sounds like you won't be in much soon and if you can keep to more admin work when you are in you may be OK. It's obviously hard to say for sure. Like others have said even us staying home face potential risks. Just receiving post or bringing the dustbin in could be a way for covid to get in, that's how my brains been working anyway lol. I had to take my car to garage tonight and the mechanic drove my car etc so I wiped everything down, hand sanitized and had car window open after 😅 I don't think we can ever 100% eliminate the risk can we, just reduce it as much as fits in with our life and keep everything crossed we will be OK. I do think I'm avoiding shopping in my final trimester though I must say, will leave food shop to DH. X

Workingmama1 · 08/01/2021 08:59

Morning ladies!

@Pugprincess I'm considering getting a scan, we did for my daughter so I kind of feel we should for this one too. I was looking last night and 4d scans aren't avaliable around here, it would need to be a wellbeing one with a 4d preview. That actually suits me fine, the one I was looking at does measurements and checked the placenta and cord blood flow so I think that would reassure me. Thinking of booking it for 3-4 weeks time so around 30 weeks.

@ew1990 I'm impressed the nursery are sending home activities! I would guess at that age though if you don't do it all she's not going to miss out too much, its more about keeping her stimulated. The work some of my friends kids have got from their schools is shocking, literally heres a list of bbc bitesized videos to watch and thats it!

@RosieJess91 sorry to hear about the positive test. Hopefully as you've not been feeling too awful it won't affect you too badly despite being ECV?

Does anyone else feel the baby's movements make them feel a bit sick? I feel like someone is massaging my stomach but not in a good way, it makes me feel quesy! Anterior placenta last time so didn't feel movements like this

Workingmama1 · 08/01/2021 08:59

Also can't believe this thread is nearly full! Maybe we should revive the due date list so we can start the new thread with it?

SkyBlue20 · 08/01/2021 10:07

Morning!

@Workingmama1 Where did you find that scan, would you mind sending me the link? Sounds like exactly what I'm looking for (only DH doesn't want a 4D scan so would probably ask not to have that bit!) Reviving the due date list sounds good. I wonder if thread #5 is where the babies will start arriving? It's taken us just over two months to fill this one so possibly! 🥰

@ew1990 Hope your daughter feels better and it's not Covid 😔

@DanceM1 Ooh starting NCT is exciting! How did you find it with it being over Zoom?

@Sakura54 Lovely news about your new niece or nephew - nice that they'll be so close in age!

Feeling a little bit better today - had a cry on DH last night which helped. Baby is still being annoyingly quiet though - if she doesn't perk up a bit this morning I'm going to have to go to triage as yesterday she was moving lots just gently but although she moved a decent amount in bed this morning, there's not been much since (which could be normal for her but need to see how she gets on). Urgh, she just doesn't have a pattern at all, it makes it so difficult, and every time I think she's settling in to one, it changes. On the flip side, it's Friday! No weekend plans whatsoever of course but nice to have a couple of days off at least.

@workingmama it does seem like a really good school, glad I picked it and it's a 2 minute walk from my house!

@skyblue20 she's OK now, she vomited a lot last night so just think she had a bug, she's not warm anymore but just lay in bed watching peppa pig, such an easy life 😂 please ring triage to put your mind at ease, I think at our trust if it's 3 episodes of reduced movement then they scan you or put you on daily monitoring for a bit

DanceM1 · 08/01/2021 13:31

@Pugprincess we had a 4d scan a while before Christmas. We loved it 🥰 My stomach is also aching from baby's punches 🤣 but I think also from growing! Feeling bigger and bigger!

The scan place we've been to throughout the pregnancy does growth scans so we may possibly book one of those if I'm worrying in another week.

@Workingmama1 I'm not sure baby's movements are making me feel sick but I have been feeling sick the last couple of weeks. I guessed it was changed in hormones in the last trimester?!

@SkyBlue20 it was great! There are only 5/6 couples so it still felt quite personal and everybody was lovely.

Exciting that we are ready for another thread and that there might be births on there!!

Workingmama1 · 08/01/2021 14:31

@SkyBlue20 this was the one with Ultrasound Direct (although I think I remember saying you didn't have a great experience with them last time?). I've had one with them this pregnancy and used them last pregnancy and found them to be ok.
www.ultrasound-direct.com/mobile/babybond-pregnancy-scans/growth-scan/

DanceM1 · 08/01/2021 20:45

@Pugprincess was it you doing a cloud themed nursery? You've probably already seen them but H&M home have cloud shaped shelves x

Pugprincess · 09/01/2021 02:15

Ooo yes it's me thanks @DanceM1. I'm concerned Mrs Hinch is going to do my theme now and people will think I've copied her 🙈 let's hope she doesn't. I've already bought cloud items so I'm sticking with it.

@Workingmama1 yes I know of one scan place that has completely closed up for lockdown and another that's not offering 4D only essential reassurance scans so I've booked with my usual place and hoping they don't cancel. Booked for Saturday 6th Feb when I would be 30 weeks. Something else they offer that I want to have is a strep b test. My friend had strep b diagnosed by chance through NHS and its dangerous for baby if left but NHS don't routinely check for it. Think my place says to have it done from 35 weeks and they charge £60 so I would like to do that.

Nursery update. We are ready to start plastering tomorrow 😁 I have an online course for I presume first time mums tomorrow, I will take notes and feedback to DH as he's going to be busy plastering bless him. It's 1pm till 3pm so I will let you know how I get on. Will attach latest nursery pic and my giant stomach last night lol x

SkyBlue20 · 09/01/2021 09:55

Thanks @Workingmama1, I’ve booked a scan. I ummmed and ahhhhed a lot as didn’t have a great experience with UD last pregnancy but that was the Stretford branch (and tbh I think I remember it worse than it was just because of how the pregnancy ended) so trying Bolton this time and feel safe in the knowledge that you had good experiences and that if I have any questions, I can ask my midwife on Wed. I think it’s just my nature to need to know everything about everything so even knowing that she’s measuring ok (🤞🏼) and that the placenta looks ok (🤞🏼) will help me relax a lot - I’m not good with the unknown! Baby girl has been moving a lot this morning though, think she has the hiccups 🥰 Felt a HUGE roll yesterday evening and have been able to feel her much more clearly since so she’s obviously changed position. Little scamp.

@ew1990 Glad your little girl is doing ok, hope you are, too!

@DanceM1 My nausea has been back the last week or so, too - it’s a joy, isn’t it?! 🙈

@Pugprincess Ooh you’ve reminded me I was thinking about a strep B test, too. Do you know when’s best to do it? I believe it’s one of those things that can change quite quickly so best as close to birth as possible (though impossible to say when that will be for many!) Hope your course and DH’s plastering go well. How useful to have such a handy DH - we’re so useless that we can’t even get the shelves put up in the nursery until mum’s partner is able to come and do them after lockdown 😂🙈

Today is hospital bag organisation day, eeeek! Not going to pack 100% properly but just get everything thrown in there, wash baby’s clothes, generally organise them and leave a list with each saying what still needs packing (things we’ll be using to the end really), so if we do need to grab and go, we’re not all over the place with no idea what’s what!

Hope everyone has a nice weekend planned - super foggy here so probably just spend the weekend organising the house a bit unless it clears and we can get a walk or two in. Xx

Pugprincess · 09/01/2021 10:44

Hey @SkyBlue20 🙂 strep b is best after 35 weeks so I think I will just go with as soon after 35 weeks as possible. I think my friends only got picked up cause she was having a swab for some other reason so it's scary, sure she told me it's been in one of the soaps storylines recently too so people must be trying to raise awareness. That's a great idea about a last min list for the hospital bag as I can imagine us in pain and not thinking straight and trying to order our partners around to find everything 😅 I suppose it's abit like packing for a holiday, some stuff you need the morning you leave so in it goes last min. Yeah DH is much handier than he used to be 😅 his change in job to a stonemason helped massively, he used to work in retail lol, its in his blood though as his dad's a chippy but can do many things. Helps save a lot of costs in labouring its just materials to buy. Glad you are feeling more. My quieter times usually follow a big roll but my placenta is at the back. Just sounds like this is your babies pattern isn't it. My midwife said they all have their own personalities by this point. Mine often reacts to my 8 minute long muscle relaxation clip 😂 reckon I will be playing that to baby when born as defo seems to respond to it. I reckon mines quite good at night atm, most find babies are more active at night but mine seems to sleep with me so let's hope that continues after birth 😂😂 (yeah right good luck me)

Will update plastering progress later, not sure if he's getting it all done today, he wasn't sure either. Then it's going to need time to dry so in the meantime we can buy skirting boards, coving, paints and wallpaper we will need I guess. I would have said DH can have a rest but now our driveway fence is wobbling so a post needs replacing 🙈 no rest for the wicked. Have a good Saturday all. Xxx

Sakura54 · 09/01/2021 13:04

@ew1990 I’ve noticed that most of us here are key workers or our husbands are lol. I think it’s good they’ve provided learning materials but that does sound a bit much. I don’t think that’s the norm seeing as sending them to nursery is a choice so surely they don’t expect you to complete it all or hand it in? Our nursery never has many children anyway. It’s not that great a place, but I just picked the closest one to my parents’ house, baring in mind I’ll have a baby to juggle too. They provide free lunch and snacks though.

@Pugprincess Your OH is doing a good job and working hard. I was going to ask if this was his job. Don’t worry about Mrs Hinch lol. Cloud theme makes sense when you don’t know the baby’s sex. Have fun learning on the course.

Movement-wise, it’s different now. Before it was constant kicks, but now it’s baby squirming and pushing out while still doing things to my bladder as she’s massive now. Keeps feeling like I need to pee which is why I thought I might have a UTI, but now I know I deffo don’t. Sometimes the moving verges on painful and when sleeping I have to go on my right now and again to make it stop and ‘move’ the baby.

Will make a new thread soon.

ew1990 · 09/01/2021 13:14

@sakura it's a school nursery this one she's done an early intake so she'll be there 18mo ths before going to reception, they only do morning sessions so 3 hours a day Monday to Friday, I had an email yesterday saying they are open to all kids from Tuesday, no they don't expect me to complete them all it was just if I wanted to do something with her.

I know what you mean about the kicks, I just get stuff poking out now and rolls but when she does kick I feel it deep inside if you get me?

@pugprincess I think I'm gunna have a night owl like DD was, she's still hit and miss if she sleeps through 🙄 I get my most movement between 12 and 3 am which isn't fun when I'm trying to sleep.

Pugprincess · 09/01/2021 18:49

@Sakura54 thank you, the course was really useful, it was by the baby academy and they have an Instagram page with useful videos if anyone wants to see. Sounds like even non first time mums do them because they are forever changing rules and guidance. I got to see how to bath baby and when you can do this. How to handle the whole cord situation lol. How to change nappies, like with my nephew I always lifted the legs up to wipe bottom now they say to roll on their side supported. Nail cutting I recall someone telling me years ago the parents can bite them off but now they advise against it and to use scissors or clippers. How to avoid sids so like not letting them sleep in their bouncer as not flat which I would have done... Question, how long can you use moses basket for? She said to always have baby sleeping in same room as you no matter the time of day so I'm thinking moses basket downstairs... Il need a new matress for it as its second hand from a friend. Then once they outgrow that I guess it's travel cot but goodness knows where I will fit that lol. Another thing I found interesting was how to dress them 😂 it sounds so obvious but I didn't realise how much baby grows necks stretch when going to put over their head, and they advise against scratch mits as they can get them in their mouth and cause problems, so said to use baby grows where the sleeves fold over the hands. And I didn't know you put them in a baby grow vest and then into a bodysuit so 2 layers 😅 now I'm thinking I don't have as many clothes as I thought as they will be wearing double. She did this trick with the sleeves to, she gathered it up and put her fingers through hole to pull babies arm through rather than trying to push their arm through a sleeve. I also didn't know they can sleep with a blanket from day 1 aslongs it's all tucked in under their arms etc. I have sleep bags but she said they are usually for 9 pounds and up so if babies smaller it's likely to be too big. Just so many little revelations to me today lol. Really tempted to pay for a full course that takes you through labour and so forth. I'm assuming if you have had a child before you would stick to what you did the first time?

@ew1990 wow really so I've been lucky so far then. X

I've not been up to take photos yet but I hear 3 out of 4 walls are done. DH is now napping on sofa lol. Think that's it until next weekend. Next task is to get skirting coving and doors ordered. X

Lu93 · 09/01/2021 18:51

Just checking in, I do always read and it's nice to see everyone's okay, that made me laugh about Mrs Hinch! I also follow her and when she said she was pregnant I actually said to my husband that I hope she doesn't have a girl and due before me and uses the same name and people will think we copied her 😅😅 need to get over myself 😅

Had our diabetes check this week, pretty boring but luckily I'm okay and no sign of it, baby monitors also came today and stripping the wallpaper for nursery tomorrow, can't believe I'm nearly in my 3rd trimester. Does anyone else just feel massive? I think I'm pretty small still then catch myself in a mirror or a window and think wow... you've got 13 weeks left?! Hope everyone's having a nice weekend. Also is anyone else self employed and applied for maternity yet? Not sure when's best to get that sorted?

SkyBlue20 · 09/01/2021 20:16

Omg @Workingmama1 thank you SO much for recommending that scan!

We’ve just got back and I am on cloud nine. The whole experience was amazing, we were the last appointment of the day so they spent ages talking us through everything and we decided to get the 4D in the end so the sonographer took ages trying to get the perfect images as she had her hands in front of her face.

Baby girl is measuring PERFECTLY - on average, she’s right around the 50th-60th centile, two days ahead of where she should be and the fluid around her is exactly perfect, too. I feel so much better for having gone, really reassured. She’s also now head down, which I’m sure happened about an hour before the scan as I suddenly felt like somebody had kicked me down there and had (still have) pain there and in my bum! He said it’s unlikely she’ll move back now (but can happen) so she’s in position for the big day 😬

I’m honestly so happy, I can’t stop looking at her - they sent all of the pics and even some videos (I can’t attach the vids, which is a shame) and it’s just mesmerising, I love her so much already! She really looks like me and my mum, too - it’s the cheeks 😂 Super happy 🥰

@skyblue20 glad you enjoyed the scan, your pictures are just perfect! We are hoping to book one in a few weeks.

@pugprincess that course sounds really good, I have never heard of rolling babies onto their side to wipe bums, I've always lifted my daughter's legs but it does make sense. Also you can get sleeping bags that are suitable for newborns, these are really good as you can have their arms out or in if they like being swaddled. www.tommeetippee.com/en-gb/product/the-original-grobag-grofriends-snuggle-twin-pack-0-4-3-9m

@Lu93 I'm just feeling massively pregnant! And only 27+1, so still have a fair bit more growing to do too! I wish I was a bit smaller as things like putting socks on is already getting tricky.
