@Sakura54 thanks for new thread!

@Workingmama1 I’m 28 weeks tomorrow and also struggling with socks and also putting knickers on! I’m sitting on the bed for both but is there a better way!? 😅

@pugprincess I’ve also been worrying about Mrs Hinch taking our name! 🤣 not that it matters really!

@skyblue20 so glad you got the reassurance you hoped for from the scan, that’s lovely 😊

I was reading up, considering I've already had 2 children. I never knew 37 weeks was classed a full term? 😂 that probably sounds really thick, but does that mean any time before 37 weeks is classed as premature? 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

@Sakura54 Thanks for the new thread!

@Pugprincess there have been a few occasions when I’ve woken up at 4/5am and baby has been active and she’s active around 11pm, too, so I’m reckoning she’s a night owl like DH and I 😬🙈
Course sounds really interesting, might check out their Instagram page!
Look forward to seeing the nursery progress.

@Lu93 Yep, keep forgetting how big I am and then I see my reflection or try to squeeze through a small space 😂 Dread to think how much bigger I’ll get over the next nine(ish) weeks 😬

Ahhh just typed out a long msg and lost it 😑 basically wanted to thank @Sakura54 for the new thread.

Thank you @DanceM1 for the sleep bag link as it's good to know you can get them for small weights.

@SkyBlue20 beautiful 4D images 🥰😍 I couldn't take a nursery pic tonight as light switch is hanging out the wall so will take a pic in daylight. The full course sounds useful too but not cheap 😕 think it's £99.

@Poppy10121 I'm glad it's not just me lol. Didn't even think of the name thing. Has she even said how far along she is, I know she's over half way. I do follow her and I do like grey and organising etc so I just didn't want people thinking I'm obsessed 😂

@Pugprincess we only have one name we like so I’m obsessed with no one else using it first! 😁 I don’t think she’s said exactly how far along she is but I think must be 24+ weeks so not too different from us!

We finally made a start on clearing the room that will be the nursery! I’m thinking I will keep it painted white as it was only done a couple of years ago, but would like to add some nice wall stickers of animals etc. someone on here posted some a while back, was it you @Workingmama1?

@pugprincess someone got me like a sleeping bag but it looks like a baby grow but thicker, think it's 2 tog or 1.5 tog. In first size so should fit a newborn ill have a look at it later and post a picture of it. I used sleeping bags with DD from her being about 3 mo ths old till she was 1. You just have to make sure there head can't fit in the neck hole so they don't slip down if you know what i mean x

@ew1990 got you thank you so if they are tiny at first maybe still to a blanket securely tucked?

Will attach nursery updates 😁 there's the window wall and a small wall that comes out from alcove that needs plastering next weekend. Meanwhile trying to sort out where to buy the doors, coving and skirting as delivery would be very helpful. I've also booked a breastfeeding course for next Sunday it's via an Instagram page through zoom. X

Hi ladies! Just found you. Mumsnet doesn't give me notifications any more, it's so annoying!!

@SkyBlue20 sounds like a perfect scan! Really happy for you!! Interesting that they said baby is unlikely to move again now as they told me at my scan baby will probably move again before birth 🤷‍♀️

@Pugprincess sounds like an interesting course. If you want one that goes into all detail I definitely recommend NCT. It isn't cheap but we have had 4 x 1.5 hour sessions so far (there are 7 altogether) and learnt so much. Feel more calm already just knowing what to expect and being (kinda) prepared for different scenarios.

Has anybody thought about the kind of birth you want? I really want a water birth but my hospital only have one birthing pool so I'm not banking on it.

With regards to movements, my baby is also doing lots of pushing out type movements now rather than sharp kicks. Sometimes I feel like he/she is actually going to push through my stomach and get out!😂

@skyBlue my baby seems to be active all the time 😂 I feel him/her every time I wake up during the night and for a lot of time during the day... it definitely doesn't match with how much sleep they say baby gets at this stage!! 😬

ew1990 · 10/01/2021 19:24

@pugprincess this is it. So it's 2 tog like a thick baby grow, it's from Morrisons

@dancem1 I'd like a water birth, I really wanted one with DD but had to be induced and monitored so that didn't work out. Ours only have 1 pool room but they have inflatable pools for the other rooms so it's worth asking

@ew1990 that sounds good! I will speak to my midwife about it at my next appointment.

Pregnancy insomnia is driving me crazy! I've been awake an hour now but I know i won't be able to wake up when my alarm goes off 🙈

You’re welcome all. Not sure if I’ll be around to make the next thread as I’ll most likely be overwhelmed with kids and nappies and trying to sleep at any given opportunity lol!

@Pugprincess That’s good you learnt a lot. I didn’t go to any classes, but I Google a lot and do try to follow NHS guidelines and do things properly even with a 3 year old. TBH you learn as you go and it’s all about a matter of just surviving once baby is here as it’s pretty tough. I’ve been given some grobags and swaddles and just checked and saw the grobag is for 8lb 13oz but I’ll try it anyway, as the head part looks tiny. With DS I mainly used cellular blankets.

@bubblybon20 37w is classed as full term, but it’s not great though. Better for baby to cook longer but maybe not for as long as yours lol! I was very close to 37w and he was fine.

@DanceM1 Water birth does sound lovely. I didn’t have a birth plan or expectations apart from to be in as less pain as possible. I knew I’d probably have to have a CS due to baby being breech despite them telling me that babies can still turn (same situation as now really). Obvs I didn’t know it’d end up being an emergency! Wasn’t impressed that by the time they got me to theatre, I was in full blown labour, dilated and practically ready to give birth.

My mum decidedly to singlehandedly build the cot and my bed in her living room so I guess my sleeping area is ready!

@rosiejess91 how are you doing?

@danceM1 I'd love a water birth, I wanted one last time but they decoded I was high risk at the last minute (literally while I was in triage in labour!) so I couldn't.

@sakura54 how mad to think babies might start arriving before we move onto the next thread. I'd love it if we could find a way to stay in touch once babies are here, maybe on a different thread, or maybe branching out to Facebook or WhatsApp if people were up for it? We've all been on such a journey, I'm not sure how I would have got through the last 9 months without you lot!

Also here is bump at 27+2

I've missed loads again. Spent the last 3 days in bed. Feel mostly okay today, just an annoying tickle in my throat. My OH, son's and both my sisters came back negative. So I'm just the unlucky one I guess. I did say my sisters and OH drank a lot on Christmas day, so I reckon they've killed the virus off with alcohol!

So much to do, 29 weeks on Wednesday and I haven't even thought about packing bags! Haven't even bought nappies yet 🤦🏼‍♀️

What is everyone doing regarding their coming home outfit? End of March, beginning of April. Weather could be warm, could be cold. So do I pack for both eventualities?

Afternoon all! How do? Am having the least productive working day today, just cannot get in to it!

@Poppy10121 There are some lovely wall stickers on Etsy that might be worth checking out.

@PugPrincess Your DH has done a great job of the nursery so far! Must be so exciting to see it come together.

@DanceM1 So glad to hear you’re enjoying your NCT, I’m so excited to start ours on Thursday. I feel like I’m really prepared for baby in terms of having the stuff we need but I need to learn a lot around breastfeeding, sleeping etc etc so am really eager for that, it’s like the (ginormous) missing piece of the puzzle.
In terms of birth, I think I want to go to the midwife led unit that is attached to the hospital. There is one about 15mins away from the hospital that’s meant to be amazing, but it scares me not being right there in case of anything going wrong. I’m not too bothered about a water birth strangely but do like the idea of dim lights and having our own playlist (that DH is carefully curating). I’m quite open to whatever needs to happen really – I’m very pragmatic by nature so am of the ‘just do what you need to do to make sure baby is ok’ thinking…but I am part way through my Positive Birth Company course so it could change (the dim lights is already a new one that the course made me think I might like)!

@workingmama1 I was going to suggest Facebook, too – the ladies from the October MN group I was a member of for the last pregnancy moved across to a private group when their babies arrived and kindly invited me over and they all keep in touch on it so much. It looks invaluable for them sharing advice and just generally chit chatting. Obviously not much use for me right now but it’s nice to see how they’re doing and I too would love to keep in touch with you all to see how everyone gets on.
Your bump looks lovely!

@rosieJess91 Oh you poor thing, I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better today though.
Coming home outfit is a tough one, isn’t it, just no idea what the weather could be like! Do you mean for baby? I’ve packed vests, sleepsuits and cardis but have also packed one slightly fleecy sleepsuit (it’s not a chunky snowsuit type thing as know they can’t go in car seats in them, just thin and fleecy), along with a chunky knitted blanket that is fleecy on one side that I’ll put with the car seat and DH can just bring it in if it’s needed. Also packed cotton hats and a knitted hat just in case, I think that should hopefully be ok – it’s not far from the hospital door to the car and I can get DH to warm the car up before we head out if needs be. If it’s super cold or snowing nearer the time, I’ll take another look. For me it’ll be leggings/tracksuit bottoms, a vest/long sleeve tee, a jumper and maybe a coat. Comfort all the way!

With the sleeping bag talk, I’ve bought two from Mamas & Papas that say they’re suitable from 0-6 months, I think I’ll just try them on her and see if her head can get through the hole, if it can then we’ll just use blankets until they fit but blankets scare the life out of me! Does mean I need to buy a cot sized cellular blanket though, which I’d forgotten about - I only have a pram one at the mo. I foresee a lot of not sleeping due to stressing about whether she’s ok 🙈

Since baby has moved in to her downwards position, I’m feeling her so much more – I’m keeping note of how often I’ve felt her today and it’s at least a short session of movements every hour/hour and a half or so (compared to maybe three times a day not long ago), it’s so, so nice! The movements are quite light but they’re definitely there. I feel so much happier about everything than I did this time last week. I just hope she keeps this little routine up now!

Thanks for the new thread!

I’m so behind, hope everyone is doing okay!

@RosieJess91 sorry about your rotten luck! Glad you’re feeling a bit better though.

@MrsK21 what time is your scan tomorrow? I think it’s just us 2 left now?! Mine’s not till 12.45 on Wed, I’m sure I’ll be waiting a while again.

Still haven’t felt any proper movements & 21w today 😩 Last week I was feeling little twinges here & there which I was hoping were movements, but they’re totally different to the bubbles/popping I had with DD. Wed can’t come soon enough 😭

Ugh I just wrote loads and then accidentally clicked off the thread... here we go again...

@Sakura54 that sounds stressful with your last birth!!

@Workingmama1 I'd love for us all to keep in touch. Totally agree that you've all helped me through this. Love your bump 😍 Such a shame you couldn't have your water birth. I definitely realise I can't have any birth plan too set in stone!

@RosieJess91 hope you are ok!! Im thinking the same as @SkyBlue20 for going home outfits (both me and baby) but im not organised enough to have everything yet 🤣

@skyBlue im sure you will really enjoy the course.. very informative! Im with you on the whole blankets scaring you thing. I would prefer to use sleeping bags but we will see how big baby is! My movements sound very similar to yours too. I love it 🥰🥰🥰

@Starfish762 ahhh its still really early days yet! Im sure baby is doing just fine and will soon be keeping you awake at night wriggling away!!

@Starfish762 I'm booked for 9am tomorrow! So hopefully it means I'm not waiting around long and can get back home at a decent time to enjoy the rest of my day off.
Try not to worry about movement, it's still early days where they have lots of wiggle room. I'm getting odd kicks and taps now and then but I think it's because my placenta is posterior so more likely to be able to feel earlier on (I'm 19+2). X
