@starfish762, @MrsK21 scanxiety is so awful. As is the round ligament pain, I'm getting that too.
Yes, scan is tomorrow morning now! I have 2 boys and a girl, so would love for my daughter to have a sister, and we really struggled with boys names last time, but I am more used to boys and they're slightly easier in some ways. We found out by accident with my first as we had an amnio and they showed the results to us with "normal male karyotype" in big letters on the front! 🤣 We then found out on purpose with my daughter - we weren't going to, then changed our minds cos obviously the lady scanning (who will be the same one doing my scan on Monday!) knew so it felt odd. Then we tried for a surprise with our third, though I was very sure I'd seen a willy at the final scan.
(@skyblue) In some ways I'd like a proper surprise, but it would be useful to sort out my boxes of baby clothes, and names. After the mmc I've been struggling a bit with visualising actually having the baby, so it might help with that.
We've got the actual 20 week scan on the 21st January, so will have another chance to find out then if we don't do it now.
@pugprincess, no it's my extra 18 week scan with fetal medicine, I get one as my eldest had cleft palate and small chin, so they like to check. It will be with the same consultant I've seen every pregnancy, so it's a nice bit of continuity (though she's a strange lady!).
That's a lovely lampshade!
The hospital make us use disposable nappies and cotton wool and water. We usually switch to wipes soon after we get home, but it's up to you. Haven't tried Aldi nappies. We mostly use Tesco nappies, which fit well and don't leak. Sainsburys ones always leak, so I'd avoid those. Most nappies have the blue line (or similar) for the smaller sizes. Whatever you use you will get stains on clothing from poonamis.
Bio means it uses biological enzymes to dissolve dirt, non-bio uses chemicals only. Bio doesn't clean as well so you tend to have to use higher temperatures.
Agree with @SmilingDonkey - Napisan is great, and hanging washing out on line does help with stains.
@valval123 sorry, does sound like a chemical.
@ew1990 we tried and gave up with cloth nappies. We'll be using disposables again. With 3 children we already do washing every day at least, no way we have time for washing nappies too, plus all the extra washing is bad for the environment too.
@Lu93, you only need a breast pump if you want to get oh to help feed. It's recommended not to mix bottle and boob at the start to avoid nipple confusion. I couldn't bf my first due to his cleft so pumped for 6 months, which was knackering. I got leant a hospital grade machine though, so not used any others. Managed to breastfeed the other two for 13 and 15 months, never needed a pump. Top tips, lansinoh nipple cream, you can do it - don't panic if you're struggling at 3am, we all go through it. The midwives at hospital can help with latching. And see if you can join your local la leche league, they're very helpful.
@Sakura54 I got to 41 weeks with my first, was so ready for him to come. Fingers crossed baby stays in until cs date.
@rosiejess91 oh no, sorry about the tonsillitis, not fun.
@SkyBlue20 wow look at that bump!
Anyone else get morning sickness back after it went away? I thought I'd finished with it.
