@workingmama1 congratulations on your scan- how exciting! Really pleased for you. I also had my flu jab today... military operation here too!!

I went for a scan today as I was feeling a little nervous this week. Baby was perfect and still on track at just over 17 weeks. Loved hearing the heartbeat and the lady showed us the baby in 4d while it was in a good position. We didn't find out the sex and weren't even tempted! I feel like we are going to have a girl now but was always convinced we would have boys!! Who knows!!

Regarding pushchairs and other big purchases, I was thinking around Black Friday would be a good idea! Love a sale!!
Someone on FB said the other day that they were told it was a boy at their 12 week scan as well (might be the same person I suppose!), i was always told it wasn't possible until at least 16 weeks, but some have said it depends on how new the scanning machine is. Some are better than others...

@pugprincess how was your day with your nephew?!

@workingmama1 how old is your DD? Mine will be 2 1/2 and I'm wondering about just getting a buggy board she can sit on? You can get these things called buggypods which convert most buggies to a double but I think might be a bit shit! Our buggy can be used from birth without a carrycot so really don't want to buy another!

We literally need to buy nothing - we used cloth nappies and wipes too so if the baby was born tomorrow we would be fine! I will get it a couple of new outfits but otherwise I can't think of a single thing other than a buggy board that we need! I feel a bit bad for it 😩🤣

I need to also recommend the bbhugme pregnancy pillow. I had such a shit one last time! This one has changed my life! It has adjustable firmness etc. It will be fab for breastfeeding / sleeping sitting up all night with a newborn too! It's very pricey but in my opinion worth every penny X

@Workingmama1 yea my due date is 6/4/21 doe that make yours the 9th?

@RosieJess91 maybe they can tell sooner with boys due to the extra bit haha I have a picture of this ones so I'll be shocked if its not. Its definitely not the same person I don't put things on FB

@nep2020 I have friends who were told they thought it was a girl at 12 weeks (it was!) Think it just depends if you get lucky at the scan! I don't think we will find out this time ... I can't decide!

@Smilingdonkey I wish I would have been patient enough to wait, it would be nice to find out when its born but I want to be able to buy stuff for the right gender (which I wont be doing until I've had confirmation at 16 weeks)

@neb2020 I had a very rough pregnancy with my first and found out to try and help me feel better! Now I think this will be my last so I feel like I'd like the experience of a surprise! It would be better to know in that if this is a boy I will have to give away all DDs particularly girly clothes but I guess I can do that at a later date!

Ah had a right long message typed out but I forgot to send and now it’s lost 😫 @Smilingdonkey had a good night and day with my nephew thank you, he was sad to leave 🥰 hard work when you are so tired but I survived and DH helped too. X

@smilingdonkey I thought I wanted a surprise this time round but I really want to find out now. I'm happy either way it just makes it more real. I still don't believe there's a baby in there

On another note 4am and I've not slept a wink. Hope this isn't the start of the insomnia. DD has been asleep since 7 so no doubt she'll be up in 3ish hours 😩 I'm deffo gunna have to try and sneak a nap in

@ew1990 I know what you mean about it not feeling real. I’m not sure it will for me until feeling movements. I definitely want a surprise with it being my first. I’d probably find out with a second so that I could plan better use for old items like clothes or think ahead to our bedroom situation (we have a 2 bed house). I don’t mind a boy and girl sharing until they get too old too but we would like to stay in this house we think so maybe an attic conversion one day... see what happens. Got to get this one into the world safely yet.

I have one bag of donated clothes from friends that are their unisex bits. So I will start with that and top up with bits I buy I think, thinking greys and whites. Last time I’m sure DH parents said they were planning to buy the pram so I’m hoping that’s still on the cards 😂 would love a baby shower too but don’t know how that will pan out with covid 😩 got a lot of work to sort out spare room too. It’s got textured paper that needs stripping, carpet needs tearing up and replacing, walls will probably need replastering, door needs replacing and frame fixing or replacing. Then I will need the furniture. Brothers kindly donating their old cot bed and changing table so that will save us a bit. Then I think I will want a single wardrobe and chest of drawers. X

P.S looking forward and hoping I get to get the donated clothes out and wash them like I was planning with the last baby. Waiting until second trimester and dating scan. Don’t feel out of the woods by any means yet. I’ve just got this vision of baby grows drying on the line and it makes me smile 😊 I hope I get to see it for real 🤞🏻 Just thought I also need to replace the radiator in nursery as it’s single and really really old. Needs to be more efficient than that xx

@ew1990 I was up as 6:45 with mine. Why do they want to be up so early?? Tried to get her to sleep in bed with me again but she was having none of it. I'm now sitting watching Hey Duggee with no tea as we have run out of milk. My partner is away so we are both just sitting here drinking fizzy water 🤣😩

Report
Smilingdonkey · 27/09/2020 07:44

@pugprincess I wouldn't rush on the radiator! One of the most surprising things about motherhood is how bloody cold babies' rooms are meant to be!! We got a room thermometer and when it's green (so a good temp) it is seriously freezing and we couldn't sleep in it for shivering 🤣 in fact on reflection I spent the first 6 months stressing about her temperature and what to dress her in!

Report
Pugprincess · 27/09/2020 07:49

@Smilingdonkey aw thanks that’s reassuring. I swear I read years ago it’s like between 16-19 degrees or something for a babies room?

Report
Pugprincess · 27/09/2020 07:52

It’s 16.5 in our room right now, really cold and windy here. This house is a semi and 1945, open plan downstairs so it gets soooooo cold! Only one radiator to heat right through kitchen/diner/living room downstairs 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’ve brought my draught excluder upstairs to do bedroom windows today while it’s light and windy as spare room windy is so bad you can see gaps of daylight 😱

Report
Smilingdonkey · 27/09/2020 07:58

Yeah 16-19 degrees - so cold! We sleep with it at 21 at least and that doesn't feel hot at all!

Just had a mammoth catch up from Monday, this week has just been work, gym, eat, sleep for me 😂 so lovely to see so many more people pass that 12week mark and get those dreaded (but also amazing) dating scans out of the way.

@Nep2020 I found out gender at 15weeks but I think most sonographers can tell from around around 12weeks but they don't say because everything is still so tiny and don't want to be wrong 🥰 but whoop whoop to another boy, think that is no. 3 on this thread x

@DanceM1 yay to a lovely scan, the sonographer at mine printed out the 4D image of little one sucking his thumb and I honestly can't stop looking at it 😍

@bubblybon20 I've picked my pushchair and will order it around January I think only a 3week wait on it arriving, unless I see a really good deal before that x

@Smilingdonkey I'm a FTM but my nephews are 16months apart and my brother swears that a side by side buggy is a nuisance for day to day life, like you can't get into small shops or cafes/ restaurants so he had one of those board things at the back for the eldest to stand/ sit on and then they had a cheap double buggy for full days out without a car/ holidays. Obviously everyone's situation is different but just thought I'd mention his views x

@ew1990 Ahh I really hope you get a nap later, I've only been up since 5.45 when OH left for work and that felt too early for me x

@Pugprincess a surprise would be amazing but me and OH are way too impatient and I had this image of me bursting into tears if it was a girl in the delivery suite, I'd obviously be happy with any healthy baby but think I'd need time to get used to the idea of a girl 🙈 I love unisex baby clothes greys, yellows and whites are so nice. I'm with you on needing to sort out babies room aswell, we currently have a friend staying in there until Christmas so I'm going to hold off buying any clothes etc until we've sorted the nursery and can put it all away, excited for next year 🥰

So exciting that people are thinking of decorating and buying baby things ☺️

I’m with @ew1990 and @Pugprincess on not quite feeling it’s real yet. Got another 4 days to wait until scan and then if that goes well I will be 13.5 weeks and will finally allow myself to finally buy the maternity dungarees I’ve had my eye on! All I’ve allowed myself so far is 2 new bras which were very essential!

We moved house last year and are still decorating, I am working on the guest room first and leaving baby’s room til last because I don’t want to jinx things but have already got it planned out in my head! For us having a nice comfortable guest room will be important as I’m hoping (Covid permitting) that my mum can come and stay and help out a bit!

Pugprincess · 27/09/2020 10:33

@Poppy10121 pregnant ladies in dungarees 😍 we need pics when you wear them. Think I want some too now as that’s always been one of those images of pregnancy too in my head.

Well I got up for breakfast then ate and came back bed 😂😂 slept loads but work really killed me off last week. The kids are hard work at the moment.

If we don’t get the nursery done in time I have room in our bedroom for a chest of drawers so I could get that to store babies clothes for now as I want baby in my room for a good while, want want of those next to me sleeper cot things. Cause I look after my nephew over night I’m going to have to get a blow up single bed and think where to put him while rooms being done 😅 have him every other Saturday at the moment. X

Hey, I hope it's ok to join. I was on a ttc thread with some of the girls on here. I'm currently 10 weeks 1 day based on lmp and have been to scared to join due to my mc in June. However I had a scan yesterday and measuring 1 day behind, but seeing my little one moving away with a nice strong heartbeat has given me some reassurance 🤞🏻 just over 2 weeks to go until my dating scan.

@Workingmama1 I got cramps before and after peeing with previous pregnancies too so its deffo a pregnancy thing. I don’t like how Dr Google says UTI though. Bladder pressure makes sense. Sometimes when I stand up, I suddenly get the urge to pee! I haven’t had any cramps for a while but now it seems like my heavy uterus is giving me all sorts of mild aches.

I’ve just had my flu jab too so another thing out the way. Now that I think about it, the W. Cough jab used to be given after 28 weeks, so I might decide to have it later instead when baby is bigger. Would rather get it out of the way though.

@Pugprincess I type my messages elsewhere and then copy and paste onto here as I tend to write long ones. I have a 2 bed house and it’s a new build so it’s small everywhere and gets absolutely freezing. I do wonder how two kids will fit along with all their stuff, let alone when they become older, plus if it’s a boy and a girl! There’s no questioning that they’ll be needing a bunk bed in future. However, I know when it comes down to it, it’s not really a big deal as kids just get on with it. It’s only because I’ve never had to share a room before whereas people with many siblings like my DH, had to squash and share until adulthood and were fine.

Welcome @Lollol86

Hey guys hope everyone’s having a nice weekend. Seen as though my scan feels forever away I booked a private one so my husband could be with me for the 12 week one. And to be honest the fear was creeping in again 🙈 but had a lovely scan with a very active baby! Feel so much more relieved and I’m now officially 12 weeks which feels amazing 💕 my due date is now 11th April xx

Ah that’s lovely @Lu93 great pic! It’s so annoying waiting past 12 weeks for the NHS scan isn’t it!

Welcome and congratulations @Lollol86 😊

I thought my nausea was getting better as I approach 13 weeks but really caught me by surprise today when out in the car, I had to stop on a hard shoulder and throw up in a bush 😳😳 wished I had a big sign to say “I’M PREGNANT!” It was so embarrassing!

Hope everyone else has had a lovely relaxing weekend x
