In honour of our third trimester I thought we should start a new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
AnxiousLady1 · 02/09/2020 17:11

Thanks @Iona1985! Marking my place.

wannabebump · 02/09/2020 17:21

Place marking!

MrsR87 · 02/09/2020 17:36

Thanks for the new thread!

First day back to work today and I’m knackered and a bit grumpy! Lol

Happymama24 · 02/09/2020 18:04

Thanks for new thread. I have been very quiet posting totally feeling exhausted but I have been following along and keeping up to date

TeddyTMP · 02/09/2020 18:34

Had my 28 week appointment today (although I'm 29 weeks today!) all was good with baby and the midwife said that they have brought in that the community midwives will now be available to meet you for the birth which I thought was really nice with the continuity of care Smile

FilthyforFirth · 02/09/2020 18:45

Thanks for the new thread. 28 weeks and got a scan and consultant appt on Friday to discuss birth plan. I am having another section, and still suffering from HG. Really hoping they book me in for 38 weeks, which would take me to 11th Nov...

littlegem84 · 02/09/2020 19:19

Thanks @Iona1985 😀

Wise0wl · 02/09/2020 19:43

Can’t believe we’re on thread 9 already!

Have any of you had round ligament pain, and if so whereabouts does it hurt? I’m in huge pain on the right side of my stomach, it feels muscular but it’s about halfway up not in my pelvis. It really hurts to move/walk. Any ideas welcome! I can feel baby kicking loads so he seems to be ok...

topeeornottopeeisneveranoption · 02/09/2020 20:23

@Wise0wl I've noticed some discomfort, a kind of tender stretching pain in the middle of my bump today. Hard to describe it. It's so hard to know what's normal and what isn't

Has anyone been prescribed iron tablets? I had a call from the doctors receptionist yesterday to say I have been given a prescription for some but the midwife or GP have mentioned nothing to me. I'm not sure really what the benefits of taking them are and would rather discuss with someone first as I've heard the side affects can be pretty unpleasant. I literally have never had the same midwife for one appointment yet! Left a message on the midwife answer machine but no one has come back to me. During my appointments they really aren't covering anything either still other than to take urine and measure my bump. I'm starting to feel really unprepared now!

BonnieBleu · 02/09/2020 22:41

@LozEliza

I am on iron tablets because I am anaemic.
This has led to constipation which has led to piles (joys of pregnancy).
It is best for me to be on them though.

What I normally do when I have an appointment is write a list of questions, and once midwife is done with what she needs to do, I start asking my questions.
When I've forget to ask a question, I have rang in and asked that the midwife call me back and explained to receptionist that I just need to ask a question.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, especially in these times, it's so much better for you to feel prepared x

mOmShanti · 03/09/2020 01:18

@Wise0wl I’ve also had a bad stitch-like pain on my right, just beneath my rib cage. The pain is often in the same place on the back of my rib cage. I saw a doctor who said it sounded like a muscular injury, but I’ve since heard from other mums who’ve had the same pain and so I’m pretty sure it’s pregnancy related. Im 30+5 weeks now.

Anyone else feeling baby hiccuping a lot? I’m feeling A LOT of hiccups (at least 4/5 times a day that I’ve noticed) and so I actually called the assessment unit as I was worried. They just said it’s normal -in a very disinterested kind of way- which didn’t really relieve my concern but obviously they didn’t want to see me. Anyone else getting lots of hiccups??

MillieFTM · 03/09/2020 08:41

How would you describe the hiccups feeling? I think I am also feeling them multiple times a day, but feels more like a ticking?

mOmShanti · 03/09/2020 08:58

@MillieFTM I would say that you can definitely tell they’re hiccups, they are completely rhythmic, repetitive jolts. They’re not like baby’s other pretty random movements. Depending on how I’m lying makes a difference to how strongly I feel them, so sometimes it’s less powerful and sometimes it’s really obvious. My baby is apparently head down so I feel the hiccups low down where their abdomen is (which makes sense!).

MillieFTM · 03/09/2020 09:32

Thank you, mine feel more like a pulsing so maybe not hiccups after all!

HarrietM87 · 03/09/2020 10:07

@LozEliza they check your iron levels regularly (the blood tests you have at midwife appts) so if you’ve been prescribed iron tablets it may be that your levels were too low at your last test? You should be able to call up the midwife and ask. Mine were borderline the last time they checked (they wanted them to be at least 105 and they were 105) so I’ve been taking Spatone as well as trying to eat more iron rich things to improve levels before having to take the tablets. Spatone is much nicer than the supplements (it’s an apple flavoured sachet of liquid) but I haven’t had levels rechecked yet so don’t know if it’s worked!

HarrietM87 · 03/09/2020 10:09

When I was pregnant with my DS he used to hiccup allllll the time, like multiple times a day. This one has only done it once or twice!

@MillieFTM they can feel like a tapping/ticking/pulsing, the main thing like @mOmShanti says is that they’re rhythmic rather than random and last a little while.

Laura0589 · 03/09/2020 10:10

Hello! haven't posted in this thread before but due on the 8th of november :) I've had the round ligament pain really badly on the right side at 30weeks after getting up from a chair from groin and over to the top of pelvis, it felt like ovulation/wind pain but also a bit like if you pull your back? i couldn't walk properly but did settle down with stretching through the pain and paracetamol for a couple of days. I was shocked how much it hurt! ended up going to the birth unit to be checked as babys movements had stopped- but all was fine. Sometimes worth a midwife check as right sided pain can be a few different things if persistent or moderate pain.

HarrietM87 · 03/09/2020 10:11

Oh and @LozEliza if you are anaemic really good to try to sort it before birth - being anaemic makes labour more difficult and you’re more likely to lose more blood after birth/haemorrhage which is definitely best avoided!

Kodiak83 · 03/09/2020 11:08

Hello! Just wondering if anyone has an idea on their weight gain so far? I’m 28 weeks, 3rd baby started with a BMI of 32 ish and I’m already 9-10kg up which seems to be the max that is on recommended charts for the whole pregnancy for someone with my BMI. I asked to check at the midwife purely out of interest as my knees have been hurting and I was interested to see how much I’d gained. But it really shocked me it was so much as I’ve been eating really healthy and completely off chocolate, sweets, crisps etc. I have a big bump but I don’t think it looks like I’ve gained anywhere else. Movement wise I was quite active til about 20-22 weeks walking regularly but my pelvis has been hurting since then so I just do school run walks now. Hopefully I can keep it in check a bit more these last weeks!!! Anyone else?

Jellycat2020 · 03/09/2020 11:20

@Kodiak83 I'm around 13kg up at 29 weeks! 🙈 Started with a BMI of around 21. Had my midwife appointment last week and she said she couldn't care less as long as I didn't look like I was obviously huge and was otherwise healthy. Early on, all I could stomach was chicken nuggets and chips and had zero energy to do anything so I blame that! Am now able to eat a lot healthier and been walking more so hopefully the weight gain will slow now.

Laura0589 · 03/09/2020 12:01

I'm 12kg heavier at 30 weeks, and ive had hyperemesis, lol! Once the meds were right and i could eat meals again i was gaining a kilo a week during the second trimester. I know what you mean about your knees hurting though, mine do they feel the pressure of the extra weight.
