Christmas babies

Mamabear12 · 14/04/2019 17:23

Just found out I’m expected a Christmas baby, well due 23 December according to online, which has been accurate in the past give or take a day! I know my cycle etc. Excited and nervous. Had some minor spotting the past few days, but AF never showed so took a test today and it was positive!

Anyone else due within days of Xmas? Might take a few days for people to find out if they are expecting a xmas baby. But thought I would start the thread now.

Yeah, mine says 7 working days, I'm just hoping that's the maximum time and they actually come back a bit quicker. I'm not very patient!!

m0jit0 · 28/05/2019 18:57

Has anyone started wearing maternity clothes yet? I am going to get mine down from the loft after my 12 week scan (if all ok). Can anyone recommend places to buy maternity stuff online as I fancy some new stuff (plus I'm pregnant at a different time of year from last time!) but cheap, don't want to spend a fortune on stuff I'll only wear for a few months.

Emmilou82 · 28/05/2019 19:53

I'm wearing maternity tops purely because they are longer! I'm wearing cheap elasticated waist trousers but they are becoming too small now

I have maternity ones but they are too big at the moment 🙈

Just crawled into bed.... I'm soooo tired!

m0jit0 · 28/05/2019 20:04

😄 yes, definitely noticing my jeans are getting tighter, I just change into my pjs at the first possible moment! This tiredness is a killer, I don't remember being this tired last time round, hope it eases off soon!

loie · 28/05/2019 20:09

I haven't started with maternity clothes yet. With DC1 I very much just put on bump though and no fat but this time round, I'm noticing I'm getting a muffin too and just look chubby so far!

peasando · 28/05/2019 20:36

I pulled out my maternity clothes at the weekend but they're all still too big at the moment. I'm just looking chubby too, although the bottom of my stomach is definitely starting to feel firmer. Elasticated trousers are my friend at the moment!

Mamabear12 · 28/05/2019 21:01

Jeans are tight on belly. I don’t like to wear as I don’t want anything pressing on belly. I wear dresses or skirts mostly now.

Today I have my booking in appointment. I am 10 weeks 2 days. I wonder if I will be able to hear the heart beat via doppler? At 6 weeks had a scan and heart beat, but I forget when they start using the doppler (this is my third). Also, how long does it usually take this first appointment? Unfortunately, it is the same time my dc have dentist appointments and I am hoping to make it to them at least before they finish so I can talk to the dentist (my booking appt was supposed to be yesterday, but they change it last week via a letter to today and I couldn't change dentist appt bc wouldn't be able to get them both in back to back for awhile and this works perfect while they are on break).

My booking in appointment was nearly an hour and a half, loads of questions, blood samples & a urine sample. She didn’t do a scan either so I’ve yet to have one! My 12week scan is booked for a week on Friday when I’ll be 12+1 :)

peasando · 29/05/2019 07:39

My booking in appointment was only half an hour - none of my details had changed since having my son 2 years ago so she just whizzed through and confirmed the answers rather than having to type them all in. I had fewer questions this time round too. Yours might be quite quick too @Mamabear12 as this is your third?

She didn't use a Doppler but I was only 8 weeks at mine which would have been too early. I can't remember when they start using that either.

I had my harmony test last night - all looking good so far, baby's measuring 10+4 so a little bit ahead. I get the results in 7!working days (she said it was very unlikely to be quicker - I checked!)

MsSquiz · 29/05/2019 07:46

My booking in appointment was only about 30 mins and that included them taking bloods and me getting a urine sample.
Unless you have any immediate family history of diseases/medical issues that they're asking about, you just whizz through the questions with a load of "no, no, no"

We didn't hear the heartbeat, but when she booked in the 16 week appointment she advised that we will hear the heartbeat then.

My appointment was 2 weeks ago, and I'm now just waiting for my 12 week scan appointment letter to come through! I'm like a little kid checking the post every day! Grin

VeryNewToAllThis · 29/05/2019 07:48

I'm also in maternity clothes! Certainly maternity tops as my boobs (which were 36F to start with) have ballooned! Jeans are tight now too so might have to switch to maternity jeans, but they're currently too big! Going shopping tomorrow to hopefully find a cheap in-between! Asda do some cheap jeggings that are elasticated at the waist, tempted to just buy a pair of those in a size up for now!

loie · 29/05/2019 08:25

Booking appointment today!!! Smile

Mamabear12 · 29/05/2019 10:09

Thanks all. It took an hour. And she said they don’t try to listen for heartbeat until 16 weeks. Boo. I was hoping they would. At least tomo I have a scan before they take bloods doe harmony test!

@Mamabear12 have you got your own Doppler?
I git mine off eBay for £15 I ive been able to hear baby's heartbeat since 8+5 it's soooo reassuring 😊

Mamabear12 · 29/05/2019 11:26

December2019 no, I think it would make me listen to it all day long lol. I don't know why they don't try to listen to it at the appointment. Especially if you can hear yours from 8 weeks! Ah well. Its okay, scan tomorrow...I can't wait! :)

Just had crisps, jelly babies and now a small milky way bar...not sure why!!!! Never usually eat these things!

peasando · 29/05/2019 12:37

Apparently it's really hard to listen to the baby's heartbeat on a Doppler yourself because if you don't know what you're doing you can easily be listening to your own body rather than the baby's heartbeat. I definitely wouldn't have a clue what I was doing so I decided not to get one - I wouldn't find it very reassuring if I couldn't be sure whether I was listening to the baby or to my own blood flow/other random things going on in my body.

Mamabear12 · 29/05/2019 13:08

I am so tired today. I have to work on an essay, but I can't take a nap, because the kids of course keep popping into my room (had my au pair playing with them for a couple hours) but they still of course run into my room, not to mention the dog also does the same. Wish I could let the kids know I need sleep bc mama is pregnant! Maybe they would let me then! I don't sleep well at night because I wake up so many times for pee, which is partly my fault because I love drinking water in the evenings, it helped before when I wasn't feeling great (tend to feel a little sick in evenings, but that seems to be getting better). Anyway, I am thinking today I must reduce liquid in the evening and try not to drink any after 8pm...maybe then I won't need to pee all night long.

I got really tired earlier and all hot and stuffy in the office so took a nice 15 minute walk around the block! I feel loads better for doing so. I really need to step up my exercise because i haven't really done anything since finding out i was pregnant!

RLI1105 · 29/05/2019 13:21

@peasando The midwife I saw yesterday said exactly the same thing!
I had my booking in appointment (which I actually really enjoyed!) and she made a point of saying don't get one because you're not trained and there's a risk that you won't be able to find the babies heartbeat and panic or find your own and think there's
nothing wrong when there might be.
I didn't know you could even buy them but I suppose you can get everything these days!

Emmilou82 · 29/05/2019 13:21

Also, slightly off topic but i noticed a thread that im on reached 1000 comments yesterday and now you cant post on it.... if this one reaches 1000 should we create a 'Christmas Babies - Part 2'?

Wish me luck ladies
I’ve got an early scan tonight and I honestly just feel like there is nothing in there.

I thought I’d gotten away with having to make excuses to not go to a spa day thing as my friends never mentioned it for a month, then of course it was flippin brought up again yday. So I’m ignoring the 50 msgs I’ve had pop up. Haven’t even opened the app so it looks like I haven’t been online until I know what the crack is after the scan

peasando · 29/05/2019 14:33

Good luck @Comps83, it's so hard not knowing what's going on in there isn't it. I'm sure everything will be fine and you'll see your baby wriggling around in there - such a surreal thing to see when you can't feel anything! Let us know how you get on.

Mamabear12 · 29/05/2019 15:01

Emmilou82 Yes we can just make a Christmas babies part 2 thread when this one fills up 😀

Comps83 Good luck tonight. Scans can be a little scary early on as you can’t feel baby so you don’t know if baby is actually in there. I know I have something in there from 6 week scan, but tomorrow I’m worried still. I get nervous until after 20 week scan. That one is so nerve wracking as they check all the organs! Keep us updated and good luck! Xx
