Christmas babies

Mamabear12 · 14/04/2019 17:23

Just found out I’m expected a Christmas baby, well due 23 December according to online, which has been accurate in the past give or take a day! I know my cycle etc. Excited and nervous. Had some minor spotting the past few days, but AF never showed so took a test today and it was positive!

Anyone else due within days of Xmas? Might take a few days for people to find out if they are expecting a xmas baby. But thought I would start the thread now.

@December2019 oooh watermelon 🍉 That might be the answer! Or at least an answer 😃

December2019 · 30/05/2019 21:12

@Jowd92 ohh wow! I'd love a full house like that on Christmas... I bet it's so magical and full of laughter, I'm really exited for Christmas this year and making the house all cozy I make a gingerbread house every year with my sister (she's only 15) I love all the Christmas cinnamon smells at that time of year

December2019 · 30/05/2019 21:17

@peasando yeah anything cold & crunchy seems to settle my stomach, I've been making myself a little fruit salad & putting it in the fridge the night before to keep me away from sweets through the day 😂

Jowd92 · 30/05/2019 21:23

@december2019 it is I wouldnt have it any other way the kids get so excited and I love that time of the year with the Christmas lights on and hot chocolate and xmas films on the TV this year will be more exciting with another little baby due the kids think Santa is bringing it Haha

Morning ladies I tried to post on here last night but it wouldn't let me for some reason. Scan went really well baby is measuring a couple of days behind but she said that was not a worry, it's little heartbeat was flickering away well and baby was having a good wriggle around 😍

peasando · 31/05/2019 07:58

Aw that's great news @Aims4488 so pleased for you

loie · 31/05/2019 09:16

Anyone else still waiting for their scan date?

GrannyClanger · 31/05/2019 09:40

@loie I’ve got mine on 11th June, so just waiting for it now! Seems to be taking forever...

loie · 31/05/2019 09:42

@GrannyClanger how exciting!!! I still haven't even had my letter!Sad

I've bragged this whole pregnancy so far as well that I feel MILES better than when I was pregnant with DC1 and have hit a major low for the past few days now- jinxed it. So nauseous, can't eat anything except grapes and mints and struggling with migraines and zero energy too!!

December2019 · 31/05/2019 09:43

@Aims4488 congratulations hun that's brilliant
@loie I had mine on Wednesday but it was too early so I'm waiting for my "real" 12 week scan through the post

Mamabear12 · 31/05/2019 12:04

Aims4488 glad it went well! I am now waiting for my results for the harmony test. Had the test yesterday, so hoping I will find out next week.

@Mamabear12 me too - hoping to get them next Thursday. Seems to take forever!

December2019 · 31/05/2019 12:32

@Mamabear12 @peasando are you finding out the gender?

Mamabear12 · 31/05/2019 12:44

I hope we are the lucky ones that get them back sooner then later lol. I read some get them back as little as 5 days or longer like 10 days! I will find out the gender, but not straight away. I will get it in a sealed envelope and then hand it in to get a cake made, so we can do a gender reveal with cake. So we find out together with the kids. :) I think it makes it a lot more fun for the kids, as they love cake and hey....I love cake too! I never did anything fun when we found out for our first two, so as this might be our last, wanted to do it in a fun way.

Will you guys find out the gender? And how will you find out?

@Mamabear12 that sounds lovely 😊 I'm so exited for you!

We're gonna book a gender scan for about 16 weeks and then go for a meal with the family after, I just can't wait to find out

Funnybunnyfluff · 31/05/2019 13:07

Is anyone going to keep it a surprise!

My DH and I have agreed for a surprise. Friends think I'm mad but I lie the idea of not knowing.

Bit strange really as I'm a control freak 😂

Mamabear12 · 31/05/2019 13:26

I admire people who can wait. I never could. My husband also thinks the same. We know a lot of people who waited for a surprise. But we think there is enough surprise element of when baby arrives (on what baby will look like) so we like to know what we are having early on to plan for names, clothes etc. Plus it helps me bond with the baby. I always thought if I had a third I might wait for the surprise, but once I was pregnant I knew I wanted to find out lol. I am so curious on what the little one will look like! My husband and I have very different looks. He is blonde w blue eyes, me dark hair and eyes. My dd came out looking so much like me. When I was pregnant with my ds, I thought for SURE he was going to look like me. I imagined him with brown hair etc...even after he was born I thought of him with brown hair bc his hair was dark. By 6 months he was blonde and blue grey eyes. And still blond w blue grey eyes age 5. I am wondering if this next one might be a mix or if it will be one way or the other!

We are finding out too - I did think about not finding out with the harmony results, as it seems a bit weird to know at 11 weeks, but then I thought I'd just be getting a private gender scan at 16 weeks anyway so I might as well find out right away!

I found out at 16 weeks with my son. I also admire people who can wait for a surprise but I can't do it - I'm too much of a control freak and I want to know everything!! This time I think it will help knowing in advance as well because it will make it easier to prepare our son (who's 2) - I think it's easier to explain that he's getting a little brother or a little sister (and compare it to his friends that have them already) than to just say we're having a baby.

peasando · 31/05/2019 13:32

@Mamabear12 my son looks like me and has 100% my colouring - I'm convinced this one will be like my husband!

Funnybunnyfluff · 31/05/2019 15:50

I understand ladies.

This is our first so I have no one to explain anything to and I'm going to hold out for a surprise.

We have names sorted already for both so no issues there 😁.

Let's just hope we can stick with it lol

Losd · 31/05/2019 16:18

Congrats everyone who’s had recent scans! It’s all very real now 🙊 I’m 12 w 4 days now but still not telling anyone haha! Another couple of weeks then I’m shouting it from the rooftops.
I’m not finding out gender. I have lots of friends with baby boys and it would make financial sense to know as I know they’ll give me clothes etc but I want to wait and find out when the baby is born ❤️

Mamabear12 · 31/05/2019 16:27

Funnybunnyfluff a lot of people do say how special it is finding out at the birth. Have you thought of how you want to find out? For example your partner looking and letting you know, or the midwife lifting the baby up for you both to see? Make sure to let the midwife know how you want to find out. So very exciting.

We only ever had one boys name picked...but tried to make a list as I felt we should consider others...but really it was only ever the one...which we names our son. But for girls I had a whole list of beautiful names :) Now, I have not really given it much thought. I should perhaps make a new list for each before I find out, as that is part of the fun thinking of names.

And yes, Losd, that does make sense regarding the clothes...thanks for the reminder :) I have one of each and so does my sister, plus clothes saved from both. Once I find out....I will probably start sorting through clothing. Although, not sure if I could let go of the other clothes...

Now I am debating if we should just tell the kids this weekend! I can't wait!! My ds pointed to my belly again and said "I think there is a baby in there, you got a little bump." My dd then said "Nah, I don't think there is a baby there..."

Ooooh I wish I was good enough to wait and not find out until the birth! I'm too impatient lol

I had to wear my maternity trousers today which were too big but it's the only thing I can fit in at the minute. I feel like I've ballooned overnight 🙈

I'm exactly 11 weeks today but feel enormous.

peasando · 31/05/2019 18:07

I wore a bump band with my jeans today, it's the first piece of my maternity clothes that I've put on this time, but it was great - button undone all day 🤣

Aims4488 · 31/05/2019 18:45

Got my scan date through and it's the 24th June which is luckily the day before we fly out for holiday, it has however changed our plan on when to announce though so we will tell my family that night and then as his parents will already be in Majorca we are going to tell them when we meet up with them that Tuesday. We won't be announcing it publicly till we get back as we said we want to enjoy our holiday.

We are finding out what we are having as like others so impatient and this is our first 😂 we do have names for both picked out as it had been discussed before and the names have just always stuck. My friend is having a boy next month so she has already told me if I have a boy she has plenty of clothes to come my way.
