Christmas babies

Mamabear12 · 14/04/2019 17:23

Just found out I’m expected a Christmas baby, well due 23 December according to online, which has been accurate in the past give or take a day! I know my cycle etc. Excited and nervous. Had some minor spotting the past few days, but AF never showed so took a test today and it was positive!

Anyone else due within days of Xmas? Might take a few days for people to find out if they are expecting a xmas baby. But thought I would start the thread now.

@Funnybunnyfluff I've bawled my eyes out in every scan I've had. They're always lovely about it, I think they must be used to it 🤦‍♀️

Mamabear12 · 26/05/2019 16:39

Today my dh is driving me nuts! Complaining all day about the house being a mess (we have two kids and a dog) and I’ve cleaned a bit, but if it’s such a mess then he should f£@£ing clean!!! Instead he has gone to the gym this morning and now a massage. It pisses me off so much when he complains about the mess and then doesn’t bother cleaning it. Arghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! ESP when I’m pregnant and tired it pisses me off even more.

Forgot to mention he has no idea about pregnancy making you tired. Just because I’ve had a relatively easy pregnancy w my first two and now he thinks it’s all a breeze. But yea I’m tired and not always feeling great, but he thinks if I’m resting I’m being lazy. Argh.

@chishandfipps I'm glad you're feeling okay! Hopefully it will settle although I'd still call them on Tuesday just in case!

@Mamabear12 That's complete wind up behaviour from your husband. I was telling mine the other day how if it was men that had to have children then the human race would die out! I would definitely sit him down and drill it in to him how hard it is. I cannot believe how tired and dreadful I feel and I have no other children and have been off work for nearly 4 weeks due to my wedding. The respect I have for people who already have children is insane!

December2019 · 26/05/2019 17:56

@Mamabear12 yep! My OH has gone the gym too my 5 month old is hard work at the minute he gets so bored easily and constantly needs entertaining I don't get a second to clean anywhere, I've got 2 dogs and they are shedding their winter coats so I'm constantly hoovering when I'm not entertaining 😂 it's so tiring!

My OH doesn't know it yet but he's getting up with Oliver (my LO) in the morning and I'm having a bloody lie in 😜

I had a Christmas baby in 2017 - so just wanted to pop on here and say it was fantastic!

We got a Christmas present (hand knitted hat and blanket donated by kind volunteers) and all the junior midwives ran to the window to look at the snow GrinGrinGrin which was cute

My baby might have objectively got a horrible birth date, but the timings were perfect for a fantastic maternity leave - she grew with the seasons. We were virtually housebound at the start due to her tongue tie and feeding issues, but that was fine as the snow gave us an excuse to stay in an bond. Summer was a dream with a rolling pudding of a baby.

I'm so jealous of you all about to start this adventure! Christmas babies are the best

December2019 · 26/05/2019 18:32

@Sizeofalentil I'm onto my 2nd Christmas pudding baby first was born on the 23rd (he was due 19th) and this little one is also due on the19th it just makes Christmas more magical 😍.... but a lot more expensive 😂

Aims4488 · 26/05/2019 20:03

Evening ladies just wanted to come on and say hello been a bit quiet mainly as my phone broke so been having to use my partners old one and only just installed this on there.

I'm finding now my waves of nausea have moved to the evening rather than the morning also had my first craving of flamin hot monster munch.

I finally have my booking in appointment on Tuesday and private scan on Thursday so exciting week ahead.

Hope everyone else is well?

Mamabear12 · 26/05/2019 20:28

December2019 its a miracle my dh got up with the kids and made them breakfast this morning with out me asking :) I was quite surprised! Hoping he does the same tomorrow! lol.

Aims4488 welcome back. I am feeling a little less pregnant today....not bloated, flatter tummy, not so hungry as before...breasts still hurt and are sore though. I am wondering if its just my hormones levelling out as I approach 10 weeks? In the past I have never felt so bloated or such sore boobs. For a moment I thought I might have two in there! Lol.

@Funnybunnyfluff same here, I had mmc in Ja and was the hardest thing ever. Still can't believe it when I see the little baby wriggling on the scan. I'm very happy for you xx

TDLO · 26/05/2019 22:08

@NapsAndTea thank you. Yours are great as well. I just can't believe it 😊 x

Emmilou82 · 27/05/2019 07:30

Morning ladies......I'm finding my nausea has subsided a lot. I keep pressing my boobs just to check they are still sore and that I'm still pregnant! Ouch yes they are....

I have a question if I can.... Gender reveal parties?! What are people's opinions please? My DH wants one but I'm not keen.... I just think they are very American and personally a bit OTT. I don't like a fuss and because we both have split families, it's not fair to do it with one side and not the other!

We went to the in-laws yesterday despite me saying this to DH and he's gone and told his mum and his nephews and nieces that that's what we are doing so all the kids are really excited now and I really don't want one! His mum starts making all these plans on how and what to do and I've just been completely over ruled!
I don't like being told what I am and am not doing at the best of times never mind when I'm hormonal and emotional. Grrrrr, I was quite narky with his mum after that. She text me later in the evening to say I didn't seem like myself, am I ok and she's hopes she hasn't upset me so I just explained that I wasn't keen on the idea, that my side of the family hadn't been considered and that I really don't want a fuss..... She just replied, I understand, it's your choice and it would have been nice for the kids. She said don't feel pressurised if it's not what you want, I understand. Now I feel guilty!

It's put a dampener on me getting to 20 weeks now. Maybe I'm just being miserable and should just go along with it but I really don't want one 😩

Sorry for the long post. I just needed to vent!

December2019 · 27/05/2019 08:46

@Emmilou82 hey there I totally get the gender reveal it's not for me either to be honest or baby showers, last year with my son we had a lovely day and I'm planning to do the same this time round, we booked a private gender scan and all the family came (I rang the scan place first because there was 20 of us)
And we booked a table after at a nice pub with a park for the kids and had a lovely meal it was amazing!
We found out we was having a boy so most of us had a meal with sausages in to celebrate 😂😂.... I hate the thought of all the attention being on me it makes me so uneasy, and instead of a baby shower I planned a day after baby was born for family & friends to come and give him cuddles and if they wanted to give gifts to HIM they had the option I just did loads of bacon buttys... and to be honest it gave me a free day because everyone else had him 😂 it was really nice

loie · 27/05/2019 08:50

Does anyone's appetite keep going up and down?
I wake up some days and can't eat anything all day, have woke up today and I literally can't stop feeling hungry no matter what I eat!!!

Funnybunnyfluff · 27/05/2019 09:17

@Emmilou82

Sorry to hear this!

I am not one for attention and I'm not going to find out what we are having. We feel it's my only little surprise left.

You do what's right for you and I'm sure it will all be forgotten. Maybe mention to your DH that you don't appreciate being told what to do and we should discuss 💡 ideas first 😁 in a nice way. Before he tells the world

Funnybunnyfluff · 27/05/2019 09:19

@loie

Mine does and my boobs are less saw, I feel less pregnant.
I keep getting a little pain in my side nothing major but I googled it and think it's normal.

So easy to worry though.

Jowd92 · 27/05/2019 10:12

I feel exactly the same my nasuea has stopped completely and my boobs are no longer tender I often sit there and wonder if everything is okay I dont have my 12 week scan until next month Sad

peasando · 27/05/2019 14:43

Is anyone else on here getting the harmony test done? @Mamabear12 I have a feeling you said you were? (I may have made that up!)

I've decided this weekend that I'm going to do it. With my son I waited until after the NHS tests at 12 weeks and he was low risk, so I didn't take it any further; I was going to do the same thing this time but I'm getting my 12 week scan just before going on holiday so might not get the results for ages, and didn't want to be worrying all that time.

So I've booked in for the harmony test tomorrow evening! Bit nervous. It also means I'll know next week whether I'm having a boy or a girl! Weird...

peasando · 27/05/2019 15:15

Should also have mentioned I'm 39 which played a big part in my decision.

Emmilou82 · 27/05/2019 15:19

@peasando what is the harmony test?

peasando · 27/05/2019 15:25

It's a non invasive pregnancy test (NIPT) - basically I think they just take your blood although mine seems to come with a scan as well, not sure if they always do. It tests for downs, Edwards syndrome and patau syndrome and is a lot more accurate than the NHS screening tests but you can only do it privately so it's costing about £400, which is not ideal! Worth it for the peace of mind though (and if the worst happens and the baby has something which is incompatible with life then I'd rather know sooner than later).

Emmilou82 · 27/05/2019 15:45

Thank you @peasando

Mamabear12 · 27/05/2019 17:47

Yes, I am getting the harmony test. I will get it thursday!! Cant wait!!!!

peasando · 27/05/2019 19:16

Have you had it before @Mamabear12? Any idea how long it takes?

Mamabear12 · 27/05/2019 20:07

No, it wasn’t really a thing to do when I had my kids. I think it was just becoming available w my second but no one I knew did it. Now everyone I know is doing it as it’s becoming more well known. I heard it takes a week for the results.
