Hi! So I got my BFP on Christmas Eve and am just under 5 weeks. It's quite a lonely time keeping quiet until after 12 weeks so I thought I would start a thread for ladies who are roughly the same time along so we can keep each other company and talk about this exciting time!

What are people symptoms? Do you feel pregnant yet?? I feel pretty normal! Maybe a little more tired but otherwise fine.
How are people going to play New Year's Eve? We have a big do on the 31st and a family lunch on the 1st - don't know how I'm going to get away without drinking!

Hi @Teddie1,
Nice to see you over here from the tww thread we were both on! Got my bfp Boxing Day so we’re on roughly the same timeline! How are you feeling? I’m actually really anxious- keep expecting AF to arrive. Been getting waves of very mild nausea and lots of low down pelvic pain, have you had many symptoms yet? X

Teddie1 · 29/12/2018 10:18

Hey @EllyNC291, yay thanks for joining over here Smile
I'm exactly the same - really anxious and worried that today will be the day that I find out I'm not actually pregnant. chemical pregnancies (and MC in general) are common and it's kind of gotten in my head a bit. But also I know that there is no point worrying about that sort of thing - unless bleeding starts you are more than likely to be ok. Plus I think worrying is normal Blush

I had really bad nausea and pelvic pain the day I got my BFP, since then I've just felt a few lower abdo twinges, breast tenderness and generally just quite tired/emotional. Wondering when it will all hit me!

EllyNC291 · 29/12/2018 11:09

@teddie1 yup I had a chemical a couple of months ago (I think) so really weighing on my mind! Plus my cycles are anything up to 32 days long and I’m only on day 29 so feel like I’m in for an anxious week. Trying very hard to chill and keep myself well and calm though!! Have you been testing much? I’ve tested every morning just for reassurance so far!
Hoping the pelvic pain stops soon but heard that it can last a long time as stuff moves! Feel your pain with the sore boobs! Xx

Cheekychimp1 · 29/12/2018 11:11

Hi all!

Am joining this thread as did my first preg test on xmas eve, it was a very very faint line as only due on that day. Since then I’ve tested every day and the lines gradually become stronger. Apparently due sept 2019! This is my first and think I’m classed as an elderly mum at 36 years!

Feel a tad guilty as I’ve had a few heavy drinking nights over Xmas (before finding out).

My boobs are very sore but that’s about it at the mo. I have to collect a pregnancy pack at gps next week to start the ball rolling.

I’m not telling any family until 12 week’s as I’m still in a bit of shock. It only took 2 months since came off pill too so it’s hit me a bit!

Glad to have others to chat to xxx

Teddie1 · 29/12/2018 12:28

Yay @Cheekychimp1 the more the merrier! And congrats! Amazing how quickly you conceived - I took almost 2 years to get AF "normally" after I came off the pill! And don't worry about the drinking - the little bean might not have even implanted at the times you were drinking (and it obv didn't do any harm )

@EllyNC291 I'm really sorry to hear about your chemical. Can I ask about your signs and symptoms when you had it?
I've only taken 3 tests. All positive 10-12dpo. My cycles are usually really long 32-42 days. But I think a positive is a positive! I've got my first maternity appointment booked for the end of jan. but unsure if I should contact the GP and get checked out first? It's my first pregnancy so not really sure what to do

Hi ladies, can I join you? I got my bfp 21st Dec so I'm around 5 weeks pregnant now. Im also really anxious about something going wrong but I'm pretty sure that's normal! I've had no symptoms really at all. Pretty tired but that's quite usual for me anyway! I also had a load of the cheap strip tests so been doing one day to see the line get darker. Should stop really! Also done another digital which now says 2-3 weeks which is good.

I've contacted my local hospital as we self refer for midwife booking in appointment. Hopefully will hear when that is soon.

EllyNC291 · 29/12/2018 13:37

@teddie1 I got a faint positive then the next day got my period, but it wasn’t a normal one it only lasted a couple of days and didn’t feel like my normal AF. Never had it confirmed but we took it to be a chemical as I’d had what I think was implantation spotting about 5 days before and lots of strange twinges etc.
Just waiting for day 32 I think and Then I’ll feel like my period is late and feel a bit reassured!! Glad I’m not the only one who has irregular cycles and so has had a potentially early positive!!
Congrats @pastaallday and @cheekychimp1 lovely to have people to chat too!
I have told a couple of people at work already because I was having a really tough day, and we’ve told 2 of our friends because my husband can’t keep his mouth shut haha but I’m so torn with when to tell our families, defo won’t be able to wait 12 weeks!
Also when I spoke to the GP on the phone he just told me I need to make a midwife appointment at reception? Found this a bitweird, are you all going to have your positives confirmed? Xx

Pastaallday · 29/12/2018 13:42

@EllyNC291 I think it's pretty uncommon to go to the doctors to confirm, most don't want to see you lol. They only use the same cheap tests that I have got anyway. I just got told to refer myself to the hospital.

We aren't telling anyone until the 12 weeks. I'm going to book in an early private scan for around 9 weeks and then after ive had the usual 12 week scan will tell people I think! Literally no one else know. It's so strange keeping this huge secret!

Teddie1 · 29/12/2018 14:32

Ohh thats really helpful to know @pastaallday - I thought it was weird when i called the GP and just got told to self refer to the midwives - I thought everyone just went and got a blood test when they got a positive test!
Ive got my first midwife appointment when im about 8 and a half weeks. Do they scan you then or do i need to wait for my 12 weeks? im really interested to hear more about getting a private scan - what would you recommend?

Im too nervous to tell anyone. Maybe once my symptoms ramp up and i FEEL pregnant but for now i think we will wait until after the 12 week scan. Its killing me not telling my mum/friends though!

Pastaallday · 29/12/2018 14:41

@Teddie1 As far as I'm aware, you won't be scanned then at your midwife apppintment as it's too early so they will then book you in for your 12 week scan.

That's why I'm going to book a private scan as I can't wait that long! I googled scans near me and there were a few places that offered it. In order to hear a heartbeat ideally you need to be after 7-8 weeks so I was going to look into booking one for when I'm 9 weeks ish.

EllyNC291 · 29/12/2018 14:44

Ok fab it’s not as weird as I thought then haha! Will just book in with the midwife!!
I’m defo keen for a private scan too- I’m too anxious of a person not to! I think we will tell family at about 8 weeks, everyone else after 12! Although I have a high risk job so I’ll have to tell them earlier which makes me a bit stressed! But oh well! 🤦🏼‍♀️
Glad we can be on this journey together it can be quite lonely I think, when it’s all a secret!! Xx

Topofthehills · 29/12/2018 14:47

Hi all! Just tested this morning - had a pretty strong suspicion as period was a week late!

Due date 30th August, but I'm guessing that might mean the very beginning of Sept as it's my first one...

It's all happened very quickly - first month of trying! We're obviously very lucky, but it's a bit of a surprise - how long do you think it will take to really sink in? Confused

First real sign is like a kind of mild motion sickness during the day, and totally not fancying alcohol whatsoever. (Handy!)

Clementine19 · 29/12/2018 14:56

Hello all, can i join? Age 29, first month TTC.
Just got my bfp today so it’s early days. Am hoping this little one sticks around.
Cramping, metallic mouth, tiredness have been my symptoms. My husband doesn’t know yet.. I tested negative yesterday and he thinks that’s it now. So all being well, I’m going to tell him on New Years Eve😄

Teddie1 · 29/12/2018 15:05

@pastaallday @ellync291 Im defo liking this idea of an early scan - Ive already googled and like the look of firstscan and window2womb (ha!), good ratings and ok price. I think doing one would defo set my mind at rest, i too cant wait that long and am a very anxious person as well! But i think ill wait until after 6 weeks to book. I feel im getting ahead of myself, anything can happen in the next few weeks.

@ellync291 i also work in a high risk job so annoyingly i think they will need to be told within the next month or so

Yay congrats to @topofthehills and @Clementine19! Lucky ladies on your first tries :D Though Clem I dont think i could wait the 2 days to tell my husband! xx

@Teddie1 yes both of those are companies I've been looking at too. I agree, I swing between being petrified and being really excited! I'm going to wait a couple of weeks before I book too.

Cheekychimp1 · 29/12/2018 17:10

I went into town today and ate out. Not sure if I’m being OTT on the ‘food not to eat’ but it’s literally my whole diet I have to change! I may tell my sister tmw as won’t see her again face to face for months. I will have to swear her to secrecy though. Congrats to the others who have joined too. We can all go through this together! X

Pastaallday · 29/12/2018 17:45

@Cheekychimp1 it's hard getting your head around everything especially when it hasn't really sunk in properly yet!

What have you changed? I've only really stopped drinking alcohol obv but not much else has changed tbh.

EllyNC291 · 29/12/2018 17:54

Finding most food quite offputting too actually- I have to think quite hard about what I want when I’m hungry as the thought of food generically makes me feel so queasy!!
Definitely waiting till 6/7 weeks to book a scan, too!!
Welcome everyone, and congratulations!!

Whisky2014 · 29/12/2018 18:11

Hey! Im 6+4 and dont have many symptoms accept sore growing pains generally at night. Throughout week 5 I felt nauseous but week 6..nothing.

Dye date sep 2nd

2nd cycle trying for our first!

Cheekychimp1 · 29/12/2018 18:12

@pastaallday I think it’s as my diet is actually quite bad and usually snack on choc, crisps etc. Ive read to stop having mayo on stuff, last night I couldn’t eat the chorizo pasta my bf cooked, today I couldn’t order croque monsieur cos of the soft cheese? Even having more than 3 cuppas so now on herbal tea. Tell me if u think I’m ott! This is where my sis can help if I tell her tmw as she’s had 2kids lol xx

Cheekychimp1 · 29/12/2018 18:13

Hi Elly and whiskey! Smile x

Teddie1 · 29/12/2018 18:20

Im defo seeing my preferences in food have changed. I normally have a major sweet tooth, but that's completely gone, I've gone off fruit, milky things... all I want is salty things all the time!
Defo heartbroken I have to cut down tea SadSadSad

Tested positive on Boxing day. The test ee had didnt register a positive or negative so had to get another kit. Both positive.

Ups and downs with anxiety at the moment but hoping its mostly hormones.
Already had a call from the midwife to get things moving (set off all sorts of questions as this is my first).

Expected to be 4 weeks +6 so going for a early scan around 8 weeks.
Due 2nd September which suddenly feels very close!

RosieM74 · 29/12/2018 18:28

Hi All,

Had a positive pregnancy test today. This will be my first time. (Also my first time using Mumsnet!)

Felt terribly tired and had awful mood swings. I thought it was just bad PMS but did a test as the symptoms were more extreme than normal. The test said 'pregnant 1-2 weeks' (but from the date of my last period, 4 weeks) so way too early to tell anyone yet. I've worked out, if all goes well, I'll be due in September 2019 :)

So far I'm really tired, really thirsty, urinating loads and having a few mild twinges. I felt really nauseous in the car yesterday. My boobs aren't too sore yet but they definitely feel bigger. Atm- it doesn't feel real so I'm going to do another test next week just to make sure.

Any other advice at this stage welcome!

X

Pastaallday · 29/12/2018 18:33

@Cheekychimp1 I had thought with mayo it was homemade only due to the raw egg. Assumed shop bought one was fine? With the cheese I guess if it was a soft cheese yea but cheddar etc be fine. I have stopped drinking coke due to the caffeine. I know there's not in it. But figured it's not great for me anyway so might as well. I know what you mean about the junk, I've eaten so much lately but that's because it's Xmas! Need to be back in it in the new year.
