Hi! So I got my BFP on Christmas Eve and am just under 5 weeks. It's quite a lonely time keeping quiet until after 12 weeks so I thought I would start a thread for ladies who are roughly the same time along so we can keep each other company and talk about this exciting time!

What are people symptoms? Do you feel pregnant yet?? I feel pretty normal! Maybe a little more tired but otherwise fine.
How are people going to play New Year's Eve? We have a big do on the 31st and a family lunch on the 1st - don't know how I'm going to get away without drinking!

Xx

You’re all making me very aware I should get in touch with a midwife lol!!
Switch to decaf tea girls!! Tastes basically the same and you defo get used to it, and means you can have as much as you like! I’m mixing that with pukka caffiene free teas! X

EllyNC291 · 29/12/2018 18:57

Also I’m definitely craving veggies - maybe my body telling me to cut out the crap! 😂😂

FrancesV83 · 29/12/2018 22:23

Can I join?
Got my BFP Christmas Day. Sadly had a chemical pregnancy at the end of November so I’m hoping this one sticks!
Not many symptoms so far just achy, growing boobs!

Topofthehills · 29/12/2018 22:28

@Elly Definitely! Can highly recommend the Yorkshire Tea decaf; lovely husband brought me some today.

I'm also a big fan of the Pukka teas already - blackcurrant and lemon/ginger are my faves.

@cheekychimp Yes, Pasta is right, shop bought mayo is no problem. There's a handy (if slightly wordy) NHS list.

jellybaby2019 · 29/12/2018 22:36

Hello all,

I got my first faint line on xmas eve. Tested again on xmas day and shared with OH. This is my 3rd baby but my DDs are 16 and 12 so this one is a significantly late addition and feels like my first all over again!

I'm due 7-sept according to the calculator. I have bad PMT/crying, my boobs are massive and hurt and I feel bloated. However it's difficult to know whether that's Just from too many mince pies Blush

Looking forward to chatting with you all over the coming months x

Cheekychimp1 · 29/12/2018 22:40

@jellybaby how exciting! A nice mix of ages for you. Sorry you are feeling crappy. My tummy feels permanently bloated and full too, water seems to help me.
I worked out my dates and am apparently due 2nd September so not far off you. I will be picking up a pregnancy pack on Monday from gp and maybe it will all feel real then!
X

Cheekychimp1 · 29/12/2018 22:42

Are any of you using any good apps? I’ve got ‘pregnancy +’ app which is quite helpful regarding size and growth etc

jellybaby2019 · 29/12/2018 22:45

Thank you @Cheekychimp1. Congratulations to you! I know what you mean about it all being real. I'm not there yet.

I've not been in touch with gp yet. Wasn't sure if it was all a bit too early. It's been so long since I was in this situation I can't really remember what to do!! Maybe I'll call them next week

EllyNC291 · 30/12/2018 02:46

@cheekychimp I’ve just downloaded ovia pregnancy- it’s very cute!!!

@jellybaby congrats! Very exciting! I’m sept 7th too!

Clementine19 · 30/12/2018 07:58

Thanks @Teddie1. I can’t wait to tell him.
Hello and Congratulations everyone new!

I am liking Redbush tea with milk atm but I might give the Yorkshire tea decaf a go though @Topofthehills.

Just a heads up that some of the fruit teas contain liquorice root which is not recommended during pregnancy. I discovered this to my horror halfway through a cup the other day😄
@cheekychimp1 I have the Flo app which is quite good, and it’s free.

Topofthehills · 30/12/2018 08:09

Bugger - @Clementine19, you're right! Those Pukka teas do have liquorice root. Facepalm. Ignore my terrible recommendation everyone!

I got the Ovia app too, it's very cute!

Teddie1 · 30/12/2018 08:43

Urgh @EllyNC291 all decaf black teas are HORRIBLE! I can't stomach them at all! I've tried loads and they just don't compare to the real thing! The pukka lemon and ginger and peppermint ones are great though Smile

I be just downloaded Ovia to, it's good! I like that you can put lots of symptoms on there. As well as giving you updates on your baby's growth (mine is a poppyseed right now Grin)

Yay welcome to all the new joiners!

@topofthehills it’s super annoying. It seems to be in all the tasty ones.
Was given some lovely Winter Spice tea (not Pukka, but similar) for Christmas and I can’t drink it!
I quite like Nettle tea and it’s meant to be nutritious, but it does have that ‘broccoli water’ taste😝

As far as symptoms go, feeling ok so far, but I am not looking forward to the nausea kicking in, or the nodding off on the sofa at 6.30.

@EllyNC291, just saw your post about craving veggies. Also fancied tons of veg yesterday which is a change from mainlining Lindt over Christmas!

Topofthehills · 30/12/2018 09:22

@clementine19

Checked the packets - lemon/ginger and blackcurrant are no good, but three mint is fine! (Is literally just mint.)

Cheekychimp1 · 30/12/2018 09:25

I haven’t any cravings. Literally just sore boobs and weeing a lot.

I just downloaded that ovia app-is really good. Lots of info and has a good list to look at! Thanks.

I’m going to a family dinner today about 15 of us and hope I don’t feel sick or anything. I may say I went out last night just in case I’m sick lol.

Anyone else wake up starving in the morning!? Could eat so much! X

Cheekychimp1 · 30/12/2018 09:25

*food list.

Teddie1 · 30/12/2018 09:35

@Cheekychimp1 completely the opposite! Wake up with no appetite! Not really nausea - just no urge to eat. Later in the day I get ravenous though. Really weird

I've got a dilemma: spending NYE with my in laws, and a big dinner for MIL on the 1st. Lots of drinking involved. As well as my SIL just announced they are expecting so will be sober and suspicious. I used "not feeling well" on Christmas. How do I get through without people asking too many questions???

OP posts:
Pastaallday · 30/12/2018 09:39

@Teddie1 it's tricky but what I did over Xmas was accept a drink and pretend to sip then slyly swap glasses with husband. Means he got double the amount but didn't complain! Could you offer to drive? Or have a non alcoholic wine/fizz in your bag to swap it with!? I think excuses are often more obvious than just pretending.

Teddie1 · 30/12/2018 09:43

@Pastaallday thats a really good point! Making excuses just draws attention the the fact you aren't drinking. I would offer to drive but again I think that might draw attention. I'll make a plan with hubby and just accept drinks/buy non alcoholic ones when we are out tomorrow.

All this sneaking around is stressful! Can't wait to book that early scan to set my mind at rest! Blush

Cheekychimp1 · 30/12/2018 10:04

Can you say that you are hungover as had a few drinks last night and feel sick? My family always believe that!

Goodluck. We will have to compare how it went later on.

Whisky2014 · 30/12/2018 11:42

I'm so worried. I seem to have very sore pains in my right side and back. I've just booked an early scan privately for the 2nd to try and settle my worry. :( I did have nausea around week 5 to 6 but dont have it now 6+5 and haven't for a few days.

Teddie1 · 30/12/2018 12:49

Oh no @Whisky2014 big hugs and thoughts for you Sad you must be really scared. But symptoms are meant to come and go in early pregnancy- I've googled it quite a bit as mine defo come and go. And pain is also common. I think unless you start to bleed/pass clots things should be okay.

Hope all goes well for you on the 2nd xxx

OP posts:
Whisky2014 · 30/12/2018 13:16

Thanks teddie. I know it does say it's common but my cousin and best friend and pregnant and they don't seem to have had what I'm experiencing. It's very difficult not to worry so at least the scan will reassure me (hopefully). It does seem to be very painful and i thought i had a high pain threshold! Just wasnt expecting this

Cheekychimp1 · 30/12/2018 13:43

Hope everything is ok @whisky2014 x

Whisky2014 · 30/12/2018 13:46

Thank you cheeky. Sorry for bringing tone of the thread down. Hopefully I'll be back with good news on the 2nd xx
