Hi! So I got my BFP on Christmas Eve and am just under 5 weeks. It's quite a lonely time keeping quiet until after 12 weeks so I thought I would start a thread for ladies who are roughly the same time along so we can keep each other company and talk about this exciting time!

What are people symptoms? Do you feel pregnant yet?? I feel pretty normal! Maybe a little more tired but otherwise fine.
How are people going to play New Year's Eve? We have a big do on the 31st and a family lunch on the 1st - don't know how I'm going to get away without drinking!

Xx

Hi found out I was pregnant Friday. Due 1.9.19. Second baby.

I’m a bit older so have to wait and see if this little bean sticks but feel pretty ‘full’ and plenty of growing cramps so hopeful.

Partners a bit in shock as we’d been trying for a while and as I’m 42 soon we both kind of thought it wasn’t going to happen and stopped even trying.

EllyNC291 · 30/12/2018 18:04

Hope everything is okay @whisky2014, I’m sure it will all be fine but defo go get your reassurance!
@teddie1 defo try Yorkshire tea decaff if you haven’t already!!! Also agree, sometimes making excuses just highlights it, just try not to say anything, look like you’re having a bit when you aren’t!?
@cheekychimp im also the opposite, literally having to force myself to eat at the mo, have background nausea ALL the time, it’s very bearable but just means I don’t fancy anything except toast and butter! Hoping it isn’t a sign of horrendous morning sickness to come!!!

RosieM74 · 30/12/2018 19:34

Hi Guys,

What are everyone's views on cheese?

Do you think it would be ok to eat Camembert cheese made from pasteurised milk that is cooked?

Rosie :)

Clementine19 · 30/12/2018 19:43

@Whisky2014 really hoping it’s good news for you on the 2nd. Xx

@Topofthehills, Ah no, I can’t even have mint because it reduces milk supply and I’m still bf-ing toddler. Looks like I’ll have to stick to the broccoli-water😄
@Cheekychimp1 I too am HUNGRY.

I second pastaallday @Teddie1. Accepting the wine, pretending to drink it/swapping/disposing of it is by far the least noticeable!
Hello @Karigan195- Congrats😊

Cheekychimp1 · 30/12/2018 21:34

@karigan congrats! I too am a little older at 36 with my first. What a lovely surprise for you both Smile

@rosie I’m just sticking to cheddar cheese as I think I’ll slip up on anything else lol

@elly everyone on this seems to be having sickness. I can just eat and eat at mo. Maybe I’m earlier than all you lot. I feel I’ve put on so much weight in general not necessarily from baby. Just the past two months so feeling a bit chub/bloated.

@clementine nice to hear someone else has the munchies! I had two servings of roast dinner at my mums. Eating it whilst I can!

Hope next week goes ok for everyone x

Pastaallday · 30/12/2018 21:38

Congratulations everyone who's just found out!
I've noticed no symptoms at all. I've eaten a lot but I do every Christmas to be honest so can't really blame it on pregnancy! Once I'm back at work etc and I'm a routine I will eat more healthily!

Clementine19 · 30/12/2018 22:47

@cheekychimp Did you read about the study that found women expecting boys consumed on average 10% more calories than women carrying girls? Could be a sign😄

Whisky2014 · 30/12/2018 23:00

rosie you definitely can if it is cooked.

Cheekychimp1 · 30/12/2018 23:11

@clementine no I haven’t read that! Very interesting!

Teachermummy83 · 30/12/2018 23:29

Hi ladies, can I join please? I’ve had 3 positive tests since Christmas morning so I’ve finally taken the plunge to leave the conception threads - where I’ve been for 18 long months - and join here! A chemical in September has left me super anxious but I’ve no symptoms this time but had lots last time so fingers crossed that’s a good sign! I upgraded from ovia conception to the pregnancy app and it all suddenly feels very real! Think I’m just beyond 5 weeks so due 31st August-ish?? Should I see my gp to set the ball rolling with medical folk or is it too early? This is my first pregnancy so looking for as much advice as I can get! xx

EllyNC291 · 31/12/2018 01:07

@teachermummy and @karigan congrats!! Know how you feel with being anxious after a chemical- it’s sort of hard to imagine it not happening again isn’t it! At least that’s how I feel. Keep having to remind myself that one doesn’t mean I’ll necessarily have another 🤞🏻

And @rosie yup I’d eat it if it was cooked all through!!
@cheekychimp once I start eating I feel a bit better, it’s just when I think about food/smell it/see it haha that I feel like it might make me vom. I think it’s quite early to be feeling nauseous though, but I am prone to motion sickness/feeling nauseous generally. Feel a bit better this eve though and really enjoyed dinner, so now worried that that’s a bad sign and my hcg must be dropping again? What am I like!

JessicaMary87 · 31/12/2018 01:33

Hello,

I hope you don't mind me posting in your group.

I tested positive three days ago and my husband and I have only just recovered from the shock...I'm finding the secret a little bit of a burden, especially as it's Christmas and we are inundated with friends and family.

Without being too much of an over-sharer (I am about to overshare) We moved into our first ever home two months ago and I think with the excitement and too much celebration we were a little liberal with the contraception...I feel really overwhelmed because although we both definitely want children, we had planned to wait another year and the most stressful aspect of this situation is that I will be starting a new job on the 7th of January and I just feel so embarrassed.

I'm not sure if anyone else is in a similar position or has any suggestion as to how I can navigate this situation?

I have felt very emotional the last few days, its really weird because I am so close to my family and I know that everyone will be delighted for us but my over-ridding feelings are of shame and I don't know why.

Sorry to be a Moaning Myrtle!

Many thanks

Teddie1 · 31/12/2018 07:48

Oh @JessicaMary87 congratulations! please dont feel shame! Maybe we should unpick why you are feeling that way - is it because you are starting a new job? if your werent would you feel the same? Is it because you werent really trying and its all been quite unexpected? 9 months is really quite a long time - by the time the baby arrives you will have been in your house for almost a year and it would probably be the time would might have been thinking about trying anyway.
I think you and your partner should talk about how you both feel - maybe speak to a few members of your family - they will be able to guide you and maybe help set your mind at rest. whatever happens you will be supported, and it is all very overwhelming - so feeling a bit off is totally normal! its all such a big adjustment.

@Teachermummy83 congrats! I feel you - weve been trying for a year so its amazing/daunting leaving the conception threads! I would call your gp the next time they are open and they will tell you what to do - for me i had to contact the midwife to get the ball rolling.

Anyone else waking up super early in the morning? no matter how tired I am I cant seem to have long lie!

Hi ladies. Hope I can join!!
Got my BFP this morning!! Quite strong lines on the FRER. Af was due tomorrow or over the next few days. I'm around 3/4 weeks but I'm 14dpo as I didn't o till cd22.

I bought a cb digital to do later or tomorrow. What would you girls recommend?
Also nhs due date calc says I'm due 11/9 which is my birthday!! Can't believe it.

Away with the whole family atm. Want to tell my parents but really wanted to do it in a nice way but I won't find the chance cos they will notice I'm not drinking tonight!!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 31/12/2018 08:00

Hi all. BFP yesterday. Faint as my period isn’t even due for a couple of days but it was definitely there.

This will be DC2. I have a beautiful 5yo DD who has been badgering for a baby sibling for ages.

Chickenfillets · 31/12/2018 08:03

Hi everyone, can i jump on please. My last af started on the 17th Nov. Had pink spotting 10 dpo. I have had bfn after bfn. Finally got 2 bfp yesterday! So im guessing im around 6 week? I just dont understand why its taken so long to get a bfp? Had a chemical pregnancy in September so hoping this one sticks! Congratulations everybody on their pregnancies Grin

Karigan195 · 31/12/2018 08:37

Yes I’m waking up early everyday. I seem to be getting cramping mostly in the early hours which doesn’t help.

Think this little one is making itself very comfortable in there 😂

RosieM74 · 31/12/2018 09:06

Hi @JessicaMary87

Congratulations! This is definitely an emotional time, I've been in foods of tears for absolutely no reason.

I've just been promoted at work and start my new role in January so that is also worrying me. I'm trying not to stress about it just yet. My aim is just to get to 12 weeks first before I say anything at work. In the grand scheme of things it's important to remember that we work to live not live to work. Although, I am worried about hiding the symptoms- but I'll just cross that bridge when we come to it.

X

Cheekychimp1 · 31/12/2018 09:38

Wow there’s lots of new people overnight! Congrats everybody and hello!

@jessicamary that’s a very honest post, so thank you for sharing. Is it likely to get easier once you have sat on the news for a bit? It must be overwhelming as three ‘stressful’ things at once with job, baby and house. There isn’t much you can actually change as have the job and start date. If a colleague was in the same situation what do you think you would advise? We are offen much more hard on ourselves, I know I am, and would react totally different if it was a friend. It really isn’t something to be embarrassed of. It’s life and you are an adult. These things happen. Bosses see it all the time. I know many people who have started new jobs and announced pregnancy. Even coming back from maternity and announcing they are preggers again. Just look out for yourself rather than focusing too much on what people will think? Think of all your achievements, you have a lovely new home, have secured a new job and now are pregnant. Woohoo! Star

Goodluck to all those going out for nye tonight and having to dodge the questions of drinking. I’ve shot myself in the foot as was going for a meal with partner and now persuaded sis to join us and she will defo ask why I’m not drinking. Confused Even though I’m driving she’ll think it’s wierd why I’m not staying over at the family home. Eeeeeek.

X

Pastaallday · 31/12/2018 10:06

Lots of new people!
@Cheekychimp1 I think the not drinking upfront of friends and family is definitely the most stressful part! Could you day you didn't feel great during the night so would rather go home tonight.. !?

I've got a few parties coming up in Jan which I think will be fine as they'll be lots of people there and I'll pretend to drink. It's the times where I'm going out one to one with friends where if usually have a glass of wine that are trickier! Thinking I'll drive and use the stomach upset or hangover excuse.

Whisky2014 · 31/12/2018 10:29

Jessica, I feel you. I just started a job in sep so doubt they will be overly pleased. I'm also being bullied so im looking for a new job, have interview on friday! If i get that job im gona be so nervous to tell them.

I don't think there's ever a "right" time tbh. You can plan as much as you like but it could take a long time to conceive, other things come up. I think if you're only 1 year earlier than you were expecting then that's not too bad in the grand scheme if things!

karigan I woke up in the night with painful cramps. is that what you are getting too?

Karigan195 · 31/12/2018 10:46

Wouldn’t say painful just like your period is coming but obviously it isn’t. Actually a bit worse than that as I don’t get period cramps really. More discomfort than pain

Whisky2014 · 31/12/2018 11:19

Oh ok. I am definitely in pain. I get some cramps at period but not much and never need painkillers. But for the cramps I am getting now it's so sore I really want to take pain killers (I'm not cause I'd prefer not to for baby's sake). I have noticed though it seems to be worse when i have a fuller bladder or need a fart!

FrancesV83 · 31/12/2018 11:28

I don’t know about anyone else but I’m 4+5 today and I feel so pregnant! My boobs look like they’re continually expanding in front of my eyes (much to my husbands delight!) and I have this weird feeling of like a lump or something stuck in my throat today.
On the plus side I don’t feel too bad and I’m still able to eat, can’t get enough of ready salted crisps. Smile

BHillary · 31/12/2018 12:42

Have a very faint bfp this morning
