Hi! So I got my BFP on Christmas Eve and am just under 5 weeks. It's quite a lonely time keeping quiet until after 12 weeks so I thought I would start a thread for ladies who are roughly the same time along so we can keep each other company and talk about this exciting time!

What are people symptoms? Do you feel pregnant yet?? I feel pretty normal! Maybe a little more tired but otherwise fine.
How are people going to play New Year's Eve? We have a big do on the 31st and a family lunch on the 1st - don't know how I'm going to get away without drinking!

Xx

Hi ladies,

I am tentatively joining you here.

I am 38 and this will be my first baby. I’m currently 4w6d along, I got my bfp on Boxing Day on the cbfm and according to the NHS website I am due on 6th of September.

We have been properly trying since October - had a chemical pregnancy the first month, which has made me very wary and less excited than I think I would otherwise be. I took another test, a FRER, on 28th the day before AF was due and the test line was stronger than the control line so I am hoping it was a good sign.

I had some fairly consistent but very light cramping around the time when AF would be due and a couple of symptomless days when I thought perhaps I may have dreamed everything up but last night my nipples started to become quite sore and today I have started to feel a bit sick.

Other than that, I have been suffering with a bit of trapped wind but that could well be a symptom of Christmas!

Congratulations to everyone.

I’m 5+2. And already have a pot belly. Totally depressing when you realise it’s just bloating 😂😂

W0MANlikeME · 31/12/2018 13:36

Hello

Bfp this morning. Bit of a surprise. This will be DC5.....

Due between 30/8 and 1/9 so can't really decide which thread to post on!

Anyone else on dc5+

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 31/12/2018 15:44

When I had DD1, I felt so sick for months. Could barely eat. She wasn’t planned though so I wasn’t looking for early symptoms. I’m finding it hard not to just see everything as a symptom now. I’m more tired than normal (that’s saying something as I am anaemic) and was incredibly tired at the beginning of my first pregnancy.

Teachermummy83 · 31/12/2018 17:23

Thanks @Teddie1 I dropped into the surgery today but as it’s a small village with a full waiting room, and a friend who is the receptionist, I didn’t want to discuss why I needed an appointment! Anyway, going to see the GP on Thursday so fingers crossed he can point me in the right direction. Hope all you ladies are doing fine? I’ve started with the funny taste in my mouth which was a strong symptom last time so fingers crossed that’s all ok!

BeeYouTiful · 31/12/2018 17:33

Looking to join you all!

Got my official BFP today at 2 days late. Did two digi tests from Lloyd's but then read lots of reviews to say how rubbish they were so went out and spent more on a CB digi which confirmed my suspicions.

Currently 4+3 and this will be my third (AND FINAL) dc.

Wasn't actively trying but had a little "incident" this month. However, we were planning on trying in June/July time so what's 6 months?

Can't quite believe it this time, with my previous pregnancies "I just knew" this time it all feels a bit strange but it might be because I thought my chances had been slashed after having radiation treatment for a cancer in my neck two years ago.

Still so early but I'm taking every day as it comes as I'm 100% this is my last dc so I want to treasure every moment one last time.

EllyNC291 · 31/12/2018 17:41

@whisky I was getting a similar pain too- would come in waves and like you it was worse when my bladder was full or I had gas or had eaten a big meal! Seems to be easing now though, I’m just getting the odd twinge! (I’m 4 weeks 2 days).

Congrats to all the newbies who have joined today!!

How’s everyone feeling? I’m working tonight so can avoid any sober questioning! Seeing all of my family tomorrow though and toying with telling them- it’s a lot earlier than I’d like to but we have such a busy Jan and Feb I’m not sure we’ll have such a wonderful opportunity again. What’s everyone doing about telling family? Is 4.5 weeks too early?? X

Whisky2014 · 31/12/2018 18:11

Hi ellly, it's reassuring to know others have felt this way. I'm 7 weeks tomorrow! I'm really hoping my scan will be ok and then I can just be labelled a wimp!
I think it's ok to tell close family and friends, after all if anything was to happen if be relying on them to support me. Just up to you if you want to tell them! I find it really difficult keeping secrets to myself hehe.

SJR86 · 31/12/2018 18:12

Can I join? I got a bfp on Christmas Day and think I'm due on the 2nd September according to the NHS calculator.
Excited and anxious as I had a miscarriage in October and trying really hard not to google every symptom.

Whisky2014 · 31/12/2018 18:22

Sjr im also due 2nd sep! Congratulations! What a nice Xmas present!

Clementine19 · 31/12/2018 20:23

Hello and Congratulations everybody new.
@MrsLBear, we have the same due date. I got a BFP on Clearblue digital in the evening on 12dpo if that’s any help?

@W0MANlikeME this is our 4th and final! Were you done at 4 before your surprise, or had you imagined another in the future?

@EllyNC291 if you’re close, tell them! It would be good to have support if needed. I’m keeping this one under wraps for as long as possible as I don’t want my other children to know yet.

@BeeYouTiful- this is probably my last too and I’m treasuring it. It must feel extra-precious after your treatment and recovery.x

Pastaallday · 01/01/2019 18:21

I hope everyone had a nice (And sober...) new year. My first!
I seem to have been invited to 3 different social events in Jan (all would usually involve drinking). I'm thinking of using dry January as an excuse to not drink. Only prob is I've never done it before ever (damn!) So not sure if it will be believable.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 01/01/2019 18:29

Luckily I’m almost completely alcohol free anyway so no one batted and eyelid at my lack of drink.

MrsLBear · 01/01/2019 18:45

Hi @Clementine19!! I ended up doing it yday afternoon and got my 1-2 weeks!!! For some reason my app has stopped letting me upload photos 🙄🙄
Ah no way!!! Same day! Seems such a long way off!

MrsLBear · 01/01/2019 18:47

@Pastaallday my first too!! Not gonna lie I was ready for bed at 10. I'm not gonna be one of the pg ladies who stays up with all of those who are drinking. I've got so many occasions this year where I've got to do that as well. Hen dos and weddings galore!!

Emsie11 · 01/01/2019 18:53

Hi I’m 6 weeks and have no symptoms at all yet. I’m so anxious as it’s a long wait until that 1st scan

Pollie89 · 01/01/2019 18:57

Hi! Can I join? Got my bfp on Saturday and I've been testing every day since like a mad woman! 🙈
3rd cycle TTC, 4 weeks today, due 10th September.
I just wanted some advice as I've had spotting on and off for 3 days now and getting a little worried. It's really light and to be honest I probably would miss it normally but because I've currently got hawk eyes 👀 I'm constantly picking up on the lightest of pink CM.
Congrats to you all on your BFP's
😊

Teddie1 · 01/01/2019 18:58

@Emsie11 I'm 5 weeks today and feeling pretty much no symptoms! My SIL is 9 weeks and has been dying with nausea, sickness, sore boobs and exhaustion since week 4! My boobs are a little tender, I'm tired (but nothing excessive for me), feel a little weird each morning but it's short lived and could even all be in my head. I know I should count my blessings but you can't help worry that maybe something isn't right? Hmm

OP posts:
Emsie11 · 01/01/2019 19:03

I’m just so anxious to know everything is ok with the pregnancy

Pastaallday · 01/01/2019 19:06

@Emsie11 I am the same constantly checking when I go to the loo and at every little twinge! I am going to get a private early scan. Is that something you've thought about?

Teachermummy83 · 01/01/2019 20:09

Well it’s been an interesting week of avoidance..... family gatherings for Christmas, Boxing Day, visiting family, a wedding, Hogmanay and now New Year meals! Stories galore as to why I’m not drinking (poor hubby is now labelled as a total selfish alcoholic that a chauffeur everywhere!) and now tonight it’s a friends for a new take on New Year Dinner - starters of antipasti full of smoked fish, cured meats and odd unpronounceable cheeses that I normally love but am worried to eat and a dessert of whisky-laced cranachan! (and I mean LACED - we’re proud Scots!)
Does anyone else wish they’d gotten there BFP any month other than December??!! This is soooo hard to keep from everyone!

MrsRRC · 01/01/2019 21:07

@Teachermummy83 I was only saying to DH any other time of year this BFP would be no issue to hide, but since Boxing Day I have had to tell at least 4 lies, we told one group of friends we couldn’t come out because I was having ‘trouble with my wisdom tooth’ (we had other reasons for not going), stupidly forgetting that we also have a fancy dinner with that same group that I had to book six months ago at a Michelin starred restaurant on Saturday so having to further the lie by telling them I am on a second course of antibiotics.

I also have another friend that recently had a baby and is desperate to go out on the screaming lash, I am usually quite willing to oblige her so trying to convince her that tea and cake would be nicer is proving to be difficult!

I am basically going into hiding until at least the end of February after next weekend!!!

EllyNC291 · 01/01/2019 21:44

Congrats newbies!!
I’m 4.5 weeks and was feeling quite nauseous but it’s eased off a bit in the last day or two. Hoping that isn’t a bad sign! ☹️ I’m such a worrier I’m overthinking everything I feel!!
@pollie89 I’ve poas every day since Boxing Day haha, so you are not the only mad woman!
Agree, this is not an easy time of year to hide it- luckily I’ve worked a lot of the festive period so gotten away with it, but I think the way I’m going to play it is just not to say anything and swap drinks with my husband- not a huge drinker anyway so hoping this throws people off!!

ATFarmWife · 01/01/2019 21:56

Hi ladies, I'm slightly further than some at 8+2 but finding it had to keep a secret. Had a few issues with foods but getting better with each day. Got scan on the 28th and meet the midwife a week tomorrow! So very excited but also very scared!

MUNIRA12 · 02/01/2019 09:52

Hi, I'm so glad I came across this post. I found out I was pregnant on new year's Eve so couple days ago by doing a test at home. I called my gp today first thing in the morning as I thought I had to see my gp first. This is my first pregnancy so I'm new to everything and have no idea how anything works. I was told by the receptionist at my gp to call queen's hospital in romford to let them know. Queen's told me to fill out a form online which I have done and now have to wait for someone to get back to me. I have no idea how many weeks pregnant I am. I don't feel any different apart from a bloatiness feeling so far. Would be helpful if anyone could explain to me the next stages. Thank you
