Hi! So I got my BFP on Christmas Eve and am just under 5 weeks. It's quite a lonely time keeping quiet until after 12 weeks so I thought I would start a thread for ladies who are roughly the same time along so we can keep each other company and talk about this exciting time!

What are people symptoms? Do you feel pregnant yet?? I feel pretty normal! Maybe a little more tired but otherwise fine.
How are people going to play New Year's Eve? We have a big do on the 31st and a family lunch on the 1st - don't know how I'm going to get away without drinking!

Xx

Hi Laides,

First of all congratulations to all and hope you don’t mind me tagging along on this thread.

I was a few days late and decided to take a test this morning, which came back positive, so took another 3, just to make sure and I’m definitely pregnant. We’ve been trying for just over a year so still in a bit of shock!

This is my first so not sure what all the acronyms are just yet lol.

My questions is how do you manage to keep something so exciting a secret?? I want to tell the world.

Also I have so many nights out coming up int he next month (including a hen do abroad) and have no idea how I’m going to keep quiet.

x

Hello everyone....first time on here and first posting!
I'm 40 and tested positive on 30th Dec. Am apparently 4+6 today, apparently due date will be early Sept 19. Been trying for a year amd this is my first pregnancy. Just wondering if there's anyone else on here expecting at same age? Been trying and hoping for that positive test for so lomg but now it's happened I'm terrified it will all go wrong, either miscarry or something wrong with the little bean.
So many mixed emotions and the statistics I've just been reading about have just knocked my confidence completely. It would be nice to talk with someone else going through similar.
Angie

Hi Angie, I’m 41 and 5+3.

I too am a bit worried about things going wrong but I worked out the other day that at least 20% of my female colleagues had had baby’s over 40. Plus I found a miscarriage risk calculator that only shows a very small increased risk when you put in our age. There’s an 80% chance it’ll be fine so that’s good odds really.

How are you feeling? We had been trying but I stopped because I had an injury that required surgery. I’m finding it hilarious that we tried for a year and got nothing and then I end up pregnant from one getting carried away when we were trying to be careful. Luckily medical stuff is all sorted and I’m now signed off so it’s not an issue and just a funny story.

Hi ladies!

Hope you don't mind me joining - I feel late to the party.

I'm due around 3 September. It's my first. I'm 35. Wanted a baby with my OH 2-3 years ago, got breast cancer, had chemo, had to wait 2 years to come off the cancer drugs. Had 2 failed rounds of IVF (one of which was a chemical), and then fell pregnant first time trying naturally.

I'm sooooo bloated. Helllllp! Getting all the symptoms. Except in my fake boob - that is not sore, nor is it going to get bigger like the other one. God - I'm going to need some chicken fillets! 😂

Congrats on all your wonderful bfps. Yay us. x

sa11zza · 03/01/2019 03:25

@Langpants congratulations such lovely news for your

I'm so bloated been up since about an hour now in agony! That's punishment for eating some of the Christmas chocs stash.. this is the first night it's been this bad.. are you taking anything to stop the bloating?

Langpants · 03/01/2019 06:13

@sa11zza - and congrats to you!

I didn't realise you could take anything? I have swapped sparkling water for still, but otherwise have just been dealing with it. I look 6 months pregnant most of the time. And it does get pretty uncomfortable.

If you find out anything that can help, please share? x

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 03/01/2019 06:22

MUNIRA12

I didn’t look pregnant until about 20 weeks with DD1. Don’t be disheartened that you don’t look pregnant. Films and tv shows get it so wrong. I saw one where the woman looked about 5 months pregnant 5 minutes after she found out. Most likely just bloated. Grin

Anondonkey · 03/01/2019 07:12

Hi everyone - please can I join?

I tested early on 28th Dec and got an obvious, albeit faint line. My period was due on Saturday/Sunday and no sign yet so I’ve been testing regularly (9 so far!) and had plenty of BFPs since my faint lines including a clear blue digital. I think I am 4+5 and due around 7th September.

I am 29 and this our first. We are very lucky to have conceived on the first true cycle after I cane off the pill late October, especially as my doctor and I suspected I had endometriosis so I am in total shock (hence the 9 tests!).

We haven’t told anyone yet which is so hard! But my booking in appt is on 29th Jan so I might tell close family after that.

Symptoms so far have been swollen, tender and painful boobs which are so bad I have started wearing a soft bra at night (heaven!), some mild abdominal discomfort and pulling sensations and a heightened sense of smell.

Karigan195 · 03/01/2019 07:16

I’m managing to feel less bloated by staying away from fizzy drinks, eating smaller meals and drinking plenty of fluids. I’ve actually lost half a kg but I still look pregnant. Can’t pull my tummy in anymore at all. I think it’s because it’s a second pregnancy.

W0MANlikeME · 03/01/2019 07:32

This is my fifth. I want to keep it quiet until 12 weeks! Bloated now and then but not too bad. Only 5+5 though!

MrsRRC · 03/01/2019 07:42

I have had awful trapped wind and bloating. I’m 5w2d today. At the moment, I am trying to up the amount of veg and fibre. A dried fig or two in the morning, plenty of water and peppermint tea seem to be doing the job right now.

I’m thinking of filling the midwife self referral in today 😬 I’m really nervous about that because last time I got things officially moving I had a chemical shortly after.

Other than bloating, very occasional light cramping, sore nipples and afternoon fatigue I feel fine. I don’t think I’d even know I was pregnant if it hadn’t been for the positive test and missed period, because all of the symptoms I’ve listed are quite subtle!

W0MANlikeME · 03/01/2019 07:58

I felt slightly nauseous this morning but had some toast and now fine. Thats the first time. I have sore boobs and bloating. About 2 maybe a bit more weeks ago i had terrible cramps one night, they kept waking me up.
Now i get cramps at the end of the day when i am sitting relaxing but they are only mild

Teddie1 · 03/01/2019 08:01

@MrsRRC I'm 5+2 as well and exactly the same! The symptoms I have are so mild! I was expecting to feel horrendous, but no Shock

Congrats and welcome to all the new joiners! Xx

I was a bit confused there - I had no idea there were two threads! I’m Tefiti2, 5w4d today and due on 1st September with a long awaited DC2! Lovely to see so many of you with Sept due dates - why don’t we all combine into the same group on the antenatal board? Xx

Teddie1 · 03/01/2019 08:35

@Tefiti2 I didn't realise there were two boards! I made this one because when I found out I couldn't find one for people the same length along as me. I'm kind of new - how do we combine boards? Xxx

Hi everyone I'm 28 and 4+1 I have a 4 year old and I found out fairly early this time round. I'm in Belfast anyone from here know if we go to gp first? I'm getting twinges and bloating, very gassy as well. Started taking my vitamins yesterday. Haven't told anyone and don't think we will until I need to go to the 12 week scan

Chickenfillets · 03/01/2019 08:51

Can anyone help me as to how far along i am please. Last af started on 17th Nov. Had some very pink spotting and discharge on the 8th and 9th December. Which im guessing was implantation bleeding. Although i didnt get a bfp until 2 week after af was due. Im thinking this maybe because i ovulated late, but then it doesnt explain the implantation bleeding. Im so confused. Am i 6 weeks and 5 days? Or ealrier? Thanks Confused

DuggeesWooOOooggle · 03/01/2019 10:38

Hello all. Bfp New year's Eve for me - had taken a test 2 days earlier but the line was so feint. The clear blue ones are very good aren't they although I was a bit miffed that in my pack of 2 costing £11 one of them didn't work but hey ho don't suppose you can get the £5.50 back!

Anyway I'm due around 7th sept although the scan will give more accurate dates. If we get that far. My last pregnancy in the summer ended in a mmc at 21 weeks (was actually only 8 weeks along when baby stopped developing). So any hint of a symptom is being seized upon as I had very few symptoms in that pregnancy.

When I was pregnant with DS (now 3), I felt absolutely vile from the moment I found out, I had excruciating cramps and was utterly exhausted and nauseous for weeks. So anything less than that and I will be worried. Although it's still early days so the sickness probably won't kick in just yet.

sa11zza · 03/01/2019 13:44

@Langpants I'm giving peppermint tea a try today to see, apparently it's meant to help!

Whisky2014 · 03/01/2019 15:06

chicken I think you are roughly the same as me...my af was 20th Nov but my cycles are a little irregular. I went for a scan yesterday and was told I am 5 to 6 weeks. I thought I was 6 to 7. My fetal pole measured 2mm!

Whisky2014 · 03/01/2019 15:07

Hello and congratulations to all the new posters :)

MrsRRC · 03/01/2019 15:24

Have any of you been in touch with the doctor or self referred to the midwives yet?

Whisky2014 · 03/01/2019 15:26

I called the midwife and I got my first appointment through for 22nd jan

Chickenfillets · 03/01/2019 15:39

Thanks @whiskey. Am i past the stage of having a chemical now then? Or could it still happen? I cant stop poas as im super paranoid of my pregnancy not developing. Did a test today amd got a really strong line!

Whisky2014 · 03/01/2019 15:47

Im pretty certain youve passed that point now. If anything went wrong it would be a miscarriage. But dont worry about that you just have to try and keep positive. If you think anything is wrong call the midwife or go to a and e.
