Great news @lisara79!

lisara79 · 31/10/2017 15:24

@daisyland we wanted a girl and I thought I'd be disapointed but I'm really not. It all feels so much more real now x

lisara79 · 31/10/2017 15:24

Thank you ladies! xx

AnnaMadden · 31/10/2017 15:36

No idea what happened to my congratulations post...but that's fantastic news @lisara79

MiniMummy576 · 31/10/2017 15:47

Congratulations @lisara79

HarryHarry · 31/10/2017 16:33

Congratulations lisara79! How many boys and how many girls have we got on the thread so far? I've still got ages (4 weeks) to wait to find out!

amysaurus87 · 31/10/2017 16:47

Congratualtions!! Such lovely news!

emvy · 31/10/2017 18:26

Congrats on finding out about the sex of your LO's Daisy and Lisara! So exiting!

Harry, I have 3 and a half weeks as well until our 20 week scan! It feels so so long away. The only thing reassuring me baby is still growing is my expanding bump! Desperate to feel some movements, too.

MiniMummy, ah I see! Glad you've got a date though. I actually don't have my 16 week appointment until 17 weeks, I don't think it will matter massively.

Wow you guys are so organised with your baby things and buggies! Do most of you have other dc? I've had a look online at ones I like the look of, more to get an idea of price than anything else. I like the cosatto ones but I'm with those of you with tiny boots... I have a Hyundai i10 from like 2009 and the boot is the teeniest thing! I used to nanny and had to put the buggy in the front and my cousin's baby for my goddaughter doesn't fit in my car... so I guess that'll be priority one for me!

ScarletSienna · 31/10/2017 18:52

Emvy I have a 2.5 year old. I didn’t have anything until he was born except for a few bits (important stuff like wellies, swimming trunks and an elf suit). I’ll be almost 17 weeks at my next appointment too.

redavocado · 31/10/2017 19:03

@emvy the travel system is literally all I have and it’s just because I’m a control freak very organised and it was a good deal. I’m not planning to buy anything more until the new year now.

Don’t worry, there’s plenty of time! Right? Confused

HarryHarry · 31/10/2017 19:37

emvy this is my first one but I've already bought quite a lot of stuff as I was in the US a few weeks ago and it was all a lot cheaper than where I live so I thought I should take advantage of it while I had the chance.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 31/10/2017 21:13

Congratulations Daisy and lisara on finding out the sex! lisara, boys are amazing.

emvy I have 2 already, one of each, so we really do have absolutely everything! This poor baby probably won't have a single thing new for a good few years. Hey ho. With my first I remember being about 30 weeks and being like 'well, I suppose we'd better figure out what this baby's going to need'! We didn't buy much before she was born, just acquired things as and when we needed them. And people gave us MASSES of clothes when she was born - we could probably have clothed her til 6+ months in gifts alone.

Harry I have 5 weeks til my 20w scan! We're not finding out anyway, but am desperate to see baby again. 5 bloody weeks! Feels like an age away, although when I think of it in terms of all the xmas prep I have to do, it's not that long really Confused

Londoners/anyone who's going to be using public transport a lot, I'm not usually one for unsolicited advice, but I seriously cannot say this enough: get a decent sling!!! They are sooooo much better than heaving a whacking great buggy on and off tubes, up and down steps, etc. Good ones cost an arm and a leg but they are SO worth it. And if you have a reflux/clingy baby, they're a lifesaver. My first refused to be put down ever and the sling was a godsend.
This baby will be exclusively in the sling for as long as possible, as DS is still buggy age - my plan is to sling the new one til it gets too heavy, then it can go into the buggy and DS can go onto an buggy board/walk. I have a baby jogger city mini and it's bloody amazing, ridiculously easy to steer, handles various terrain really well, easy to put up, put down, recline, holds shitloads in the basket underneath, and weighs about 7kg I think so really light! Doesn't parent face so if that's a dealbreaker it would be no good, but def recommend checking it out.

So I think I've managed to break my toe, which is totally irrelevant to pregnancy but really painful! I think pregnancy has made me even clumsier than usual Confused

AnnaMadden · 31/10/2017 21:26

17 weeks today and need to work on my spacial awareness with this growing bump as a keep walking into things or not opening doors wide enough lol.

So exciting to hear everyone having scans and finding out gender as well as discussing buggies...makes it all seem so real! 😍

Thank you all again... still smiling!! x

DaisyLand · 31/10/2017 21:49

Think you’re pregnant Anna ! Such a beautiful belly !
I’ve aleays had extra belly so so far it seems like 1st day but I’ve started feeling that my jeans don’t fit anymore.

ScarletSienna · 31/10/2017 22:05

Oh wow Anna that is a great bump!

redavocado · 01/11/2017 08:59

GlenCoco any sling suggestions? I'm planning to get one (in London, no car, our tube station has no lifts) but don't really know what I'm looking for! The soft, jersey ones look good but I assume they're only ok for a while?

Loosemoose28 · 01/11/2017 09:19

Im borrowing a caboo to start with and then buying a ergo baby.

So many of my friends carry I know what I want already lol. Means I have had a lot of baby cuddles recently too Envy testing which sling

Loosemoose28 · 01/11/2017 09:19

SHould have been Grin

HarryHarry · 01/11/2017 13:13

redavocado Loosemoose28 I got the Ergobaby but obvs haven't tried it yet.

Second/third/fourth-timers, what other stuff would you say is essential? A friend of mine bought tons of newborn clothes and nappies but when he was born her son went straight into the 3 month size so they all went to waste. Also a lot of people have recommended those baby bouncer/rocker chair things but there are so many I don't know which one to get. We have to buy everything ourselves as we don't really expect our families to send stuff here due to the high shipping costs - so I'm really anxious to avoid wasting money! My mum died last year and I desperately wish she was here to give me advice as I really have no idea what I'm doing!

WineAndTiramisu · 01/11/2017 13:58

I had my 16 week appointment on Monday, heard the heartbeat, but to be honest I'm sure it was mine she was hearing, not the babies!

Not bought anything yet, friend gave me a Doppler (she's an obstetric reg) and a pregnancy bouncing ball thing that I'm not sure what to do with Grin

Another friend has offered a spare cot and lots of bits. I'm off to London next week so may get pram then, going for a baby jogger GT, all my friends have given up with their first larger ones and all use a baby jogger now, and for their seconds, so I figure it'll do!

I'm having a girl if we're doing a count, found out via harmony test at 10 weeks.

My bump is huge as well, definitely no hiding it!

ClaireBear1986 · 01/11/2017 14:04

Glad it's not just me feeling disorganised now then @emvy. I haven't bought anything yet.

I have been more organised with Xmas so far, but now that is all bought and sorted, maybe it is time to start on baby buying :)
I don't really know where to start though tbh. I'm sure once I start, I won't be able to stop.

Thanks for the advice on the sling @four. I will google that this afternoon, while I have a quiet afternoon at work.
