Completely not @clarebear. My dh wanted to call our ds with a name beginning with same initial as his to carry on the tradition?! (Even though his grandad was last one with that initial before dh) anyway I managed to persuad him otherwise and this time round he said it again if a boy wants to do the same thankfully it’s girls so he can’t. But we can’t decide on names at all the ones he likes I hate and ones I like he hates. Just gonna call them baby a and baby b 😂

Emoconn · 07/11/2017 12:14

Hi ladies due my first baby 7th April and have thankfully passed the awful sickness stage. However at work yesterday I got very dizzy, had heart palpitations and breathlessness and fainted. I work in a hospital (im a radiographer) so one of the nurses checked me over. She said my blood pressure was slightly low but my pulse rate was fast. She then measured pulse lying down and it was normal but as soon as I sat up it increased again. DH (who works round corner) came and picked me up and brought me to the gp who was totally bitchy about having to fit me in and quickly checked me and just said ya it's just pregnancy related as your blood volume increases etc. That's all fine I understand that but I was in work treating a patient and I have never fainted before so was understandably freaked out. I'm worried that this can happen again. Has anyone else experienced this?

DaisyLand · 07/11/2017 12:34

ClaireBear1986 hope you can reach an agreement, i can see your point and hopefully he'll as well. Does he like any of your top 5?

My DH family used to use the main name of the DF as the middle one of the baby and so. I was willing to have a name from my country as middle name and a british one as main but my DH said he really likes the idea of the baby having a name and only one and that is in my language so I was over the moon, however, when I've been suggesting some I've realised that some of them might be quite difficult for someone that is not Basque, my parents arent and I know that they'll also struggle haha.

Emoconn a couple of weeks ago i had to take care when getting up from places as I'd get dizzy suddenly, now I'm feeling better. A frend of mine who is 12w completly fainted when she was 8-9 weeks and they discovered she had HG, I guess this is not your case is it?

@Emoconn A few times now I've come close to fainting and did in a shop. I've had my blood pressure and bloods taken and all is perfectly normal, I'm thinking for me maybe I hadn't drunk enough or eaten enough - I've got breakfast biscuits and water in my bag constantly now so if I start to feel a bit dizzy I have some and makes me feel better, maybe one to try?

Bez9087 · 07/11/2017 13:08

@emocon funnily enough I had to rush out the playground this morn on school run with dd as felt like I was going to pass out. Was stood up got a funny feeling in my tummy and really light headed and felt like I was swaying. I quickly said bye to my dd then rushed out playground and sat in my car for a good five mins trying to focus so I could drive home. I hadn’t eaten (which to be fair I don’t usually do till we are home from morning school run) so wasn’t sure if that but after being at home all day still feel the same. Maybe it’s the stage of pregnancy we are all at?

Pumpkinma · 07/11/2017 13:13

@Bez9087 Yeah I think it may be the stage too, it's such a horrible feeling though isn't it? From what I've read it seems to be due to increased blood volume - I'm finding it so surreal what the body does during pregnancy and that I knew nothing about it before I got pregnant 🙈

Bez9087 · 07/11/2017 13:15

@pumpkin completely agree. This is my fourth pregnancy and still finding out new things. I think our beautiful bubbas must be having a growth spurt and zapping our iron etc and sending us funny

Pumpkinma · 07/11/2017 13:30

@Bez9087 Definitely sending us a bit funny! I got into work today and my area manager was in, almost threw up on him and so got sent home till at least Friday 🙈 Got to the station to go home sat and waited for a train for 13 minutes, got on the train and then realised I had t bought a train ticket 😂 baby brain is a real thing, anyone else having any baby brain moments?

ClaireBear1986 · 07/11/2017 14:10

He likes a couple of my top 5 @DaisyLand, so hopefully we can reach an agreement.
He is very stubborn though, so think I might need to stand my ground with this one.
I wouldn't mind quite so much if his name wasn't so terrible. Ha.
I think having it as the middle name is a good compromise tbh.

That's good news on the name then, might need to be something that your DH can pronounce. Otherwise you can just teach him.

ForeverHopeful21 · 07/11/2017 16:45

Newbie here. I'm 17 weeks tomorrow.
Interesting to read so many people have bought baby stuff and booked classes! Eek. I haven't done anything. Thought I was eager for buying maternity pyjamas last weekend haha.

Other than my spotty skin and greasy hair, I'm feeling so much better compared to just a few weeks ago. Great to have a little bit of energy back. I'm even able to stay up until 9pm ....which is an improvement from 7pm Blush

emvy · 07/11/2017 18:15

Claire I don't think that's unreasonable at all! Names are so difficult. My OH and I had already come up with boy and girl names before even conceiving due to wanting to be parents for a while but the further along we get, the more he says he's going off the names!! So annoying!! They have to be so perfect - they're stuck with them for life after all!

I'm with you on the fainting. It happens about once a day and I can usually stop it if I feel it coming on and then can quickly sit down. If I try to fight it, it's bad news! My midwife suggested low blood pressure was to blame.

I'm sure they are going through a growth spurt now! This past week I've felt unbelievably shattered (more like I did in the early days) and my bump is feeling really uncomfortable. It looks like we're moving into new territory!

Loosemoose28 · 07/11/2017 19:05

@foreverhopeful I am also getting spots and greasy hair. I used to be able to leave my hair for 4 days easily without washing now having to 2/3 days tops. Blew up the hairdryer its never been used so much Grin

Ive been feeling better in sickness but zapped for energy and brain function.

Floradix I think is helping its a natural iron and vitamin supplement.

ScarletSienna · 07/11/2017 20:33

Ah tiredness has hit here too. Last time I’m was shattered in the first trimester but this time it’s just started.

amysaurus87 · 07/11/2017 20:59

What is it about being pregnant that makes people think they can say anything to you?! I was at Slimming World, and one of the members asked how far along I was, so I told her 17 weeks...her response...oh your going to have a big baby of your already showing!

I've only put on about 7lb since I found out I was pregnant so the bump is not huge, plus it grows during the day!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 07/11/2017 21:13

Ah Claire congrats on your boy! Boys are lush Smile I can't believe your parents still don't know! You're an amazing secret keeper. Also I'm very nosy and now desperately want to know your OH's name! It's not Colin is it?! (Sorry to anyone who loves the name Colin). He is def being very unreasonable, you can't give a kid a name you hate! Give it as a middle name.
Daisy I love your announcement! Very cute Smile
Welcome vanana and pumpkin! Sorry to hear you're still sick pumpkin. I'm luckily through the worst of the nausea now, it creeps in slightly if I overdo certain food/drinks. The tiredness, on the other hand, is real. It's been nonstop since 1st tri this time round. I think I have slightly more energy now, but it's possible that I've just adjusted to being painfully exhausted. Also no glowing going on here. Crap skin, crap hair, look like a zombie. Being full of cold is not helping.
I also keep having weird spells where I go really weak and feel really lightheaded. Also keep getting out of breath really easily. I probably need to get my hands on some iron, but (TMI!) I'm frankly terrified of starting the constipation up again...things are only just back to vaguely normal. Who said pregnancy was glamorous?!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 07/11/2017 21:14

Oh cross post amy - I'm exactly the same with a magically growing bump! In the mornings I look completely normal, by the evenings I look about 10 months gone. Totally bizarre!

HarryHarry · 07/11/2017 21:27

FourForYouGlenCoco Haha, I was actually considering Colin if mine turns out to be a boy. Shows how desperate I am for boys' names - we literally can't think of any we both really like!

ClaireBear1986 Congratulations on your boy! Sorry if there are any other recent gender announcements on here that I might have missed - congratulations to you too! How did you all find out so early - private scans?

Welcome to the ladies who have just joined!

I've got my second appointment with my doctor tomorrow morning (it's all doctor-led rather than midwife-led here) and I'm extremely anxious about it.

ScarletSienna · 08/11/2017 06:34

Good luck @Harryharry let us know how it goes.

ClaireBear1986 · 08/11/2017 10:50

Thanks all :)

Yes I booked a private scan with Baby Bond (Mothercare) at 16 weeks. It was £59 and she spent ages with us, as well as showing us the baby on 3D scan and giving us about 15 different scan photos.
I think people will start thinking I am on commission for Baby Bond but I really can't praise them highly enough. They have been amazing on my early and gender scan.

I think I am going to have to put my foot down with this one and say he can have his name as the middle name but we need to choose the baby's first name together. Its the fairest option all round I think. As the Mum, I can't really be expected to have no say in my first child's name.

@FourForYouGlenCoco sadly it is worse than Colin!! His name is Kevin, so I think most people would understand why I can't let my DS be called this. Ha ha.

HarryHarry · 08/11/2017 15:16

Hi everyone. Appointment went well - heartbeat 160bpm and blood tests results show 1 in 10 thousand chance of having Downs. Phew.

Bez9087 · 08/11/2017 16:02

@HarryHarry that’s great news 😊

ScarletSienna · 08/11/2017 17:27

That’s great Harry!

Claire-will your baby have his surname? If so, done deal-you’re choice of first name. Obviously best to agree on one but I think definitely means he does not get total decision!

Pumpkinma · 08/11/2017 18:49

Glad your scans went well ladies! I'm really nervous about my 20 week scan, I was beside myself at my 1st scan thinking something was going to be wrong but everything was fine, my screening testing came back low as well. Anyone else get really nervous before theirs or am I being irrational? Haha

I think it's because I haven't felt baby yet? I'm 18+3 today anyone else around this mark not felt baby yet?

Pumpkinma · 08/11/2017 18:52

@ClaireBear1986 ohhh name choosing is so difficult to agree on. I don't think I'd be able to let it go if I really didn't like the name my partner wanted to pick. Defiantly put your foot down if you're not happy with it, plus middle name is such a good compromise! Good luck!
