whatser I love the patchwork! That's what I'd have for a little girl! It's so pretty. My boy has grey and purple spotty curtains - Mum says I should get "nursery curtains" but I think they're just a relaxing colour and I don't want too much in the room.

dirty don't worry about being a wreck for your scan. It's such an awful time. For my 12 week scan I was sobbing before I even got on the scanning table - not even crying. Full on sobbing. She had to try and scan over my heaving stomach!

Oh blimey bec! Trying to hold it together here in RL then just read your last post and I'm in tears! You are a sweety. I know the words aren't for me but I'm sure everyone on here can take something positive from them. par you can only feel the way you feel Hun and there is no right or wrong, you are probably still grieving whilst trying to protect yourself and look after your baby bump now.... and don't forget the hormones! There's a lot going on. Try and be kind to yourself Flowers

bec and jpeg sorry to here you are so worried about your scans. It doesn't seem to stop does it ladies! Just keep looking at the stats of positive outcome per week.

cheese I've been there too (a few times) and yes those days draaaaaaag. You can do it though. Try and keep yourself busy. Fingers crossed for you.

I'm gonna see if I can get a scan booked for Friday now. Let's see if there really is a healthy little baby in there! I can dream :)

Just catching up.

net I hope your scan is good news and can help you get through a difficult day. Have you had an early scan or will this be the first? I don't have a scan date yet. Really worried that my MW hasn't referred me but it may just be slow. My job is very inflexible during October so I want to get the date asap as I'll prob need to rearrange. 1st May seems such a nice date to aim for. Its my Dads birthday so doubly hoping it all works out otherwise it'll end up being a sad day. Fingers crossed we can stay the course together and that in 6months time we'll be complaining about big bumps and swollen ankles rather than worrying about scans.

Thank you Badgerbird. I've had a good cry today and though I feel raw I feel much better than I have. It helps to talk to this baby about my first too.

I really hope you get your scan soon and everything looks good, from what I've read on this thread your docs and hcp have been very woeful and unfair. Flowers

Sympathies to ladies in the early stages, we've all been there but the odds are in your favour that you'll come through it and have a beautiful baby to hold at the end Flowers

On the note of hair-dye, I read up on that and couldn't find any convincing evidence of risks so I've been dying my hair throughout my pregnancy every 6-8 weeks and my twenty week scan showed bump is growing perfectly with no abnormalities. Now the early pregnancy anxiety has gone, it seems to me there's a lot of scaremongering about "risks" in pregnancy that isn't actually backed by any scientific evidence.

On nurseries, lovely to see and read about other people's plans. We're going with a woodland animal theme and very excited to have ordered the decorations so we can get going on it soon! DH sensibly made me order from ebay as the stuff I wanted originally would have been about four times the price from not on the high street.com. I think I've now gone from anxious to excited and my support needs have shifted from needing reassurance and encouragement to needing brakes Smile

23 + 1 today, baby is now doing dolphin flips I can feel with my hand. It feels good to be here.

Gosh this thread moves fast! Welcome to newbies and good luck to those being scanned. I'm patting myself on the back as I've completed all of the forms needed for Maternity and Shared Parental Leave. I will be working until 39 weeks this time, although I'm cheating a bit as I break up for Christmas as 36ish weeks so will only return to work for 8 days. One of those is a teacher day and the rest of them will be me handing over to the people replacing me. I've put the first day of the summer holidays as my first day back so I'll get pain for the 6 weeks I'm off then too! After that, dh is taking three months leave. He said that he felt like he missed out on dd's babyhood because he worked so much and I earn more than he does so it makes sense to split the leave. He cracked me up earlier though when he said he was looking forward to paternity leave as he is 'ready for a break'!!! Grin The baby will be almost 8 months old by the time he takes over, but still, not sure he really understands how much work babies are at that age!

Lucky that's really pleased me reading your post x

Whatser crack me up too, he's a good man my love, my husbands loves the kids but he knows his limitations and I couldn't imagine him doing that not even for a £10000 a week!
I'm definetly the primary care giver and he likes it just fine that way too as I get the blame for there crazy attitudes when really it's the genetics of it all that make them so mentally unstable rofl😂😂😂😂

Is anyone else enjoying the random night awakenings?
It's almost frustrating to me but then baby kicks or flips & it does make it worth not being able to go back to sleep. Even though in 22 weeks there will be very little sleep happening.

Welcome newbies & hope your scans come soon enough for you.

Whatser that sounds like really good leave organisation & also laughing at the "chance of a break," hahaha.

I forgot to say nursery ideas, baby will be with us for 6 months for feeding then as we're currently in a 2 bed in with DS until we move.
If it's a boy, they'll share a current space theme, if it's a girl they get gold sticker circles on their side & go from there.

12 days until 20 week scan & getting a bit anxious also not looking forward to seeing consultant again but should be for last time if everything is okay.

Hope you start to feel better par & talk about your first as much as you feel comfortable with. At the end of the day it was your pregnancy & your loss to go through sadly. Congratulations on this pregnancy.

Now I'm off to make sandwich.

dinosaur I'm now sat in the living room with a blanket and the laptop after trying to sleep for about an hour and a half so I know how you're feeling!! Baby doesn't wake me but I can't seem to stay comfortable for long. It's annoying because I'm shattered! Only 14 weeks to go.... gah...I like being pregnant but I really don't like pregnancy!!! I might try going for a swim in my work gap later to see if that helps tonight.

whatser your plan for ML and PL sounds great. I have a feeling that in my area, you'd need to work a day before reverting back to pay though - so maybe check that you don't need to go back for a day or so before the summer holidays starts? It may have all changed since I was teaching though.

lucky make sure you attach a picture of some of the stuff when it arrives!!! It's so exciting to be able to buy stuff! We've bought a lot on ebay and saved shed loads of money!

I thought that too, Carrick but on checking yesterday I don't so that made me really happy. Really hoping that my placenta moves now so I don't have to have a C section. If i do though, I'll just work upto the day before. With dd I finished at 36 weeks because everyone said I'd need to but she was a week later and I was bored out of my mind. I've just been woken up with little miss kicking. I love the feeling so much. There is nothing like it.

Whatser that's so great timing wise with school holidays!! I was hoping for something like that when we started TTC but obviously it's quite hard to time it perfectly!!
My plan is to work up until the Easter hols (baby is due at the end of the hols) and I want my ML to start the day the baby is due, as I won't be working for the two weeks before anyway! Then I'll go back the week before xmas so I then get two weeks off Grin bit worried about what will happen when the maternity pay runs out but I'm sure it will be ok!

Thank you doleritedinosaur, good luck with your scan and great on all the kicks. The movements I love, can't stop touching my bump - don't know about anyone else? My lo keeps me up many times a night but it's having to use the loo as much as shifting around.

I actually spoke to both this baby and dh about our first and I feel a lot better. He's suggested we tell the midwife to emphasise how important skin to skin contact is for us both and he admits he'll never forget our first baby or stop worrying until this one is born.

Then of course it's a whole lot of other worries.

DoubleCarrick someone gushed to me about how great pregnancy was and such a magical time. Very lucky woman to have had no issues conceivin, no morning sickness, no bleeding knicker checking or worry. She was surprised that I told her I would happily do away with that part. I love feeling baby now but the anxiety especially at the start and upset through...wouldn't wish it on anyone. Most people I've talked too were like minded though, whether they'd had a loss or not.

Woke up and 1.50 and was still awake around 3-4, now I'm trying to dress 4 children and get the 5th to college, all on an empty tank of energy 😩

bec that sounds so hard. Monday night I was woken by DS at 4am and didn't go back to sleep until 6:30. Last night though instead of trying to get DS to go back to sleep I climbed into his bed when he woke up and ended up fast asleep. Was the best nights sleep I've had in ages. I think bunk beds must be my thing!

Hope you can make it through the day and, if not, hope you get a chance to nap.

The teachers on this thread - sounds like you've got great timing although I imagine teaching must be really tiring as you are on your feet so much. Are you Primary or Secondary?
