moonlight I have 3 boys so although I'd be fine with another, obviously it's exciting to be told I'm having a girl. I can't help but worry and I know I shouldn't be but now I've been told a girl, I would be disappointed if that were to change.
Diarrhoea and constipation are both quite common as far as I've read. I had to run the toilet a few times a day in the early days. It's now I can go a few days without going. I preferred going a few times a day than being bloated and constipated.

moonlight just checking into see how you are doing today. Sorry to hear you have had more cramps Flowers

I had a really early night last night, I just wanted to curl up and sleep. Today my headache has gone, which was absolutely cracking by the afternoon yesterday, and I feel a lot better today. No more spotting, but I feel like I am checking every 5 mins. Counting down to the 12 week scan on Friday and can hardly breath thinking about it Star

Welcome to all the newbies.

Cramping is really normal, its all the stretching, I get it now at 17 weeks but its mainly trapped gas. Drinking more water and actually "releasing" as much as possible has helped me. Stretching wise it does stop eventually. But it did scare me this time around after my MC as I expected to see blood but didn't.

As Lynsey said its either constipation or diarrhoea until you adjust really.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

OH felt baby kick this evening and is really excited. I had a brief look at DS's old baby stuff and am now wobbling over not finding out but I don't think we will. Just over 2 weeks until 20 week scan now.

Hi all! Tentatively popping my head in here.
M/C at 10 weeks in July, now pregnant again first cycle we've tried. This is obviously great but as it happened so soon, a small part of me thinks 'shit, what if my body can't determine between good and bad eggs'. Don't even want to book a doctors appointment yet - may wait until next week when I'd be 6 weeks. Hopefully will get an early scan because I can't imagine 7 weeks of anxiety.

Thanks for the advice again ladies. No cramps in the night last night, just one last lot in the evening. I'm still off work with this cold that won't shift so curled up on sofa. I feel a bit of a fraud taking time off for a cold but I've never had one this bad! And no good me spreading it round the office anyway I suppose.

long I'm only 4w+4 so very early days to be having such crappy symptoms! I got a BFP at 9dpo though so the last week and a bit has gone so slow after knowing so early. How far are you? Have you asked about a scan or did you decide you'd rather wait it out?

lynsey how exciting, I do hope it is a girl now!

dirtydancing so glad you are feeling better. I hope you've got a few things planned to try and keep you busy until Friday. It's crap that were going through this and it should all be so exciting but instead it's just nerve-racking

phamtom welcome and congrats! I mc in July too. I'm the same, holding off ringing to make the appointment for the time being but probably will next week at 6 weeks too :)

mojito your original answer did make me giggle but now obviously really just hoping those cramps just leave you alone!! Sounds like it is to do with digestion and possibly womb stretching (I had that) rather than baby though so fingers crossed it buggers off!

something sorry to hear you are feeling low. It's such a tricky time isn't it. We think we should be over the moon, it's what we've always wanted, yet it's so f*^#%ing scary, nerve wracking and down right exhausting sometimes. Hang in there, hope you are busy this week till Friday

Morning ladies, had more bad dreams last nite but managed to sleep a little better than usual, no idea how.
Had some family over for dinner and my home looked like the Toby carvery, had to dish about 13 plates of dinner out, I won't be doing that in a hurry again lol
Hope everyone is feeling better than MWAH😒 today, I'm just trying to poodle through each day until my nuchal next week, I've also got to go have that blood test at some point for the combined test so that should be a joy.
I was able to go the loo this morning, hadn't been for at least 2 days so I'm hoping that my cramps might piss off today now 😉
Fingers crossed, trying to distract myself by planning a small Halloween party for my nearest, dearest and those I can't get rid of lol
I like have something to focus on it kind of helps.
How did you evening go moonlight, any more running too the loo?
Xx

Morning all (just!!)

Just checking in. Sorry to hear that some are having wobbles Flowers the first 12 weeks was the longest of my life! I hated every second!!

On a pick me up note - has anyone started thinking about nursery decoration? DH put the cot up on Thursday last week and has ordered the furniture after I threw a hissy fit saying he needed to get it done Grin

Aww carsick that's lovely, I love doing that it makes everything feel so real!! Have you been stocking up on your nappies and wipes and milk?
I asways grab some weekly and add it on my shopping after about 20 wks, it really does help being organised, send us a pic of what you've done so far xx

Hi phantom, yes I'm the same as I got pregnant the first month we tried as did I last time which led to the MC. I also worry about my body just grabbing on to any chance to be pregnant. I'm 37 so not much time left! All we can do is hope our bodies do know what they're doing!

moonlight I'm 6 weeks today. I'm not planning to get a scan despite the potential of 6 agonising weeks ahead. Partly because it's not very practical for me but also because I dread the scans. I like being in blissful ignorance in a way. That way I can still have hope that all is okay. Probably sounds weird I know!

Random question for everyone : does anyone have their hair coloured whilst pregnant? I waited 12 weeks last time as no one really knows if there are any adverse effects on the baby. I have more grey hair now and it looks a mess, so I hate to think what it'll be like in 6 weeks time!

Place marking. This thread moves so quickly but I'll try to catch up.

10weeks today. Vomiting got really bad on Saturday and couldn't keep anything down, Sunday I was fine and today just back to nausea in the morning. Just want to get to my scan and find out.

Hello to anyone joining the thread and hope everyone is getting through it all in whichever way works best for them.

Oooh a picture, good plan, I'll do that now!

Carsick is about the right autocorrect for my tbh!

I've been given a load of reusable nappy bits so have just topped that collection up really - came across some stuff at a children and babies market an indoor carboot sale basically!!! So for £140, I think I'm all sorted for nappies from birth to potty. IF (and that's a big if!!) I can pull it off with the logistics of reusables. I'm not an eco warrior but since I've been given stuff already it's more of a frugality type decision.

Equally, I've not bought any milk as I'm hoping to breast feed. 1) It's free. 2) both my husband and I have milk allergies so Cooper is likely to have one too so finding the correct formula will probably only cause a world of pain and hassle. 3) bottles seem like a pain in the arse.

I also managed to stumble upon a yard sale where I bought all of their baby clothes - £12 and have almost all I need from birth to 18 months.

We always seem to have loads of money, but truth is, we've both got low paid jobs but are just super careful with our money. We got rid of the single bed from the spare room and managed to pick up a sofa bed on ebay for £50. It's in amazing condition. Now trying to sell our sofa for £80 to fund the cost of the "new" sofa and a runner for the hallway as my dog has dodgy hips and needs some more grip on the laminate floor.

Anyway, I'm waffling. I'll go up and take a pic of the nursery so far! He's having the box room. We got the cot off ebay and DH has modified (stuck a bit of wood on top) and painted it to make it look fancy. Crib will come out and go into our room

carrick your nursery is lovely. It must make it all feel so much more real.

It amazing what you can get second hand too. There are often loads of people out there who just want their used baby stuff to have a good home.

I did (and still use) reusable nappies with DS. Washing can feel like a bit of a faff but you don't get the exploding poo all over the clothes like you do with disposables so I thought they were better.

doleritedinosaur · 03/10/2016 13:12

Long with hair dyeing NHS website says from 12 weeks but there's nothing in the dyes anymore than can have any bad effects.
I had red hair with DS and re-dyed from 10 weeks every 6 weeks and my midwife said whenever I felt comfortable to dye it from when I booked in.

Aw Carrick that looks lovely and I really hope re-useable nappies work for you, there's usually a re-useable nappy groups around, I went to one and did a one month trial but DS has soya and milk intolerances so wasn't working out for us.
If you need any advice for breastfeeding, I breastfed DS for 18 months and did an awful lot of reading on it as I wanted it to work so please feel free to ask me but you don't have to. Also if you manage to get to a group before giving birth, you can get loads of advice and tips.
I bet you feel great for being so organised. Cot looks gorgeous.

Hope the nausea passes soon Ants.

Hello, everyone.
I've just found out today that I am pregnant. This is great news but after having 4 miscarriages in 2 years (3 in the last 12 months) I'm understandably nervous.
I'm under consulatant care for the miscarriages but I was told that I should phone EPU should I fall pregnant before my next appointment (Nov), is this right? What would they do? I'm 5+4 weeks going by LMP but I know I ovulated a bit late.
Should I be doing anything to maybe just top the balance in my favour?

Report
Badgerbird · 03/10/2016 16:33

Congratulations strawb! So sorry to hear of your losses, you've had a very tough couple of years :( Not sure how your EPU works but maybe just give them a ring anyway and see what they say. They're all so different, as I'm finding out!

Hope yesterday and last night hasn't caught up with you bec! I normally have pretty vivid dreams but they def ramp up in the weirdness when I'm preggo!!

Badgerbird · 03/10/2016 16:40

So latest scan/gp/EPU news I am no further ahead! Long story short my gp agreed to scan, she called EPU to refer me, they refuse to see me until 14th oct! I'll be 8 weeks then, apparently that's their policy even though when I called last week the sister said I could go this week due to previous MMC's Angry

Looks like I've got a fight on my hands or I stump up £100 and go private. Hey ho. Had accupuncture this afternoon so feeling a little more chilled about it, especially as he says lots of his clients don't have as many symptoms due to having accupuncture. Who knows but I'll buy that for now!

Sorry for long rant ladies, it's so good knowing I can get this crap off my chest here where others will understand. Thankyou

Carrick your pictures are lovely! We are going to be getting started on the nursery during half term which is in two weeks. We are using dd's old cot and I'm going to treat myself to a comfy chair too. We have a fitted wardrobe so plenty of storage space. We are painting the room duck egg blue and then having a patchwork design for the curtains. I've had a few people pull faces about the lack of pink but I actually think it will look really girlie. I'll see if I can post a picture of the curtains and bedding I'm coveting!

Whatser I think it sounds lovely and the patchwork idea will definitely make it look girlie. Not every girl needs pink!

We went a little mad this weekend and bought lots of things so I think we're nursery furniture ready. I feel hugely silly for not waiting a bit longer (19 weeks at the mo) but I think feeling bump move so often now has made it feel a bit more real and I'm feeling positive.. For the moment anyway; I'm sure the scanxiety will increase over the next week before scan.
Hoping for a safari themed room for baby, will be my half term project. Not planning on painting walls but just lots of accessories.

Welcome newbies; the early weeks are tough and you just have to do whatever feels right to make it through. Lots of support here!
