Fantastic news, emily, that's great! So pleased for you Grin

I didn't see/hear a heartbeat. There was a yolk sac and an embryo of 2mm (how big was yours?). I'll admit, I'm worried but the sonographer and nurse both said it looked about right for dates and I shouldn't be concerned. Got another scan in two weeks. My DH keeps saying that because I only ovulate CD19 that puts me five days behind what they'd expect to see...not sure if he's right or not.

fuzzywuzzy · 21/11/2016 13:02

Congratulations to you both. Emily after I had my first scan at six weeks and saw the heartbeat I just cried utterly hysterically in DP's arms (sonographer must have thought I was nuts).

Gizmo, I ovulated much earlier for this pregnancy I think day 12 and the sonographer put my pregnancy forward by a week, so I think your husband is most likely right.

Thank you deloit and Jpeg I'm really looking forward to feeling the first flutters, nothing so far this should (lots of prayers) be my third pregnancy and DPs first. His family are so utterly thrilled and mil is so so so delighted I'm terrified about things going wrong even more. Also love my mil and seeing her so thrilled really is very touching and sweet (she wants to race out shopping lol).

jpeg28 · 21/11/2016 16:42

Congrats emily and gizmo! I didn't see a heartbeat when I had my first scan gizmo and all is fine now!!
Thanks for the shopping tips Ants! I'm hoping I can get lots in the sale!

Gizmojo · 21/11/2016 17:13

Thanks, fuzzy and jpeg. How far along were you when you had the scan where you didn't see a HB, jpeg? Hope you have a good time shopping, by the way! Smile

jpeg28 · 21/11/2016 17:28

I think I was 5/6 weeks gizmo... I can't actually remember now! I went in at 5 weeks with bleeding, had hcg done and it was rising. Then had scans 10 days apart. First one just saw a sac, then 10 days later saw a bit more, then at 7 weeks I had a private scan, as was still bleeding and saw a HB. How far along are you?

Gizmojo · 21/11/2016 17:54

I'm meant to be 6+2. But I ovulated on CD19 not 14, so if that puts me back five days, I guess that makes me 5+4?

jpeg28 · 21/11/2016 17:59

That's still really early so don't worry about not seeing a HB... are they going to rescan you in a few weeks?

Gizmojo · 21/11/2016 18:02

Yes, got to go back two weeks today. They were a bit funny about me having gone so early but it was them that booked me in for today - I even said to the woman on the phone that it would only be just over six weeks and she said that would be fine! Now I wish they'd booked me in for next week, instead, as got another fortnight of waiting. Hmm

fuzzywuzzy · 21/11/2016 18:14

Gizmo they work out your pregnancy as being two weeks when you ovulate, so count the weeks from ovulation to now and it should roughly (give or take a couple of days), be where they estimate your pregnancy to be at.

I know it's really nerve wracking, when I went for my early scans I nearly didn't get out of the car at first one as I was so scared.

Naschkatze · 21/11/2016 18:31

Congrats Emily and Gizmo. I'm pleased the sonographer wasn't worried for you Gizmo. I think later ovulation will put you back. With this pregnancy I wasn't certain when I ovulated but my cycles had been long after previous problems so at my first scan the sonographer explained what we saw would be smaller than expected from my dates from LMP.

Ants thanks for the list. You mentioned cloth nappies - please help me! I'd really like to give it a go and have been researching a lot but I don't know where to start! What kinds do you use? Any recommendations? And how many did you buy to start with?

Gizmojo · 21/11/2016 18:54

Thanks for talking me down off the ceiling, ladies Smile. I've done a little bit of consultation with Dr Google and feeling slightly less panicked - it really is just too early to tell at the moment so trying to stay positive and hoping not to go bonkers in the next fortnight! Grin

emily86 · 21/11/2016 18:57

Thanks ladies.

Sounds promising Gizmo. I imagine it was just a bit early today.

Whatsername17 · 21/11/2016 20:00

Hi everyone, just checking in really. I'm trapped under a sleeping cat so unfortunately can't do any of my marking! Congrats to the newbies and successful scans! Gizmojo stay positive and take one day at a time! I'm 31+3 today and have a scan to check my placenta on Wednesday. It seemed like such a way off when it was first arranged. I can't believe it is almost here! I have no idea if anything will have moved but I'm staying positive. Looking forward to putting our Christmas tree up on the 1st and finally doing the nursery. We have been so busy it has just been put back and back but we are running out of time!

XxBecxX · 21/11/2016 20:07

Jpeg I'm useless at advice about the bag as I do everything over the top, I would say plenty of muslins that's for sure but also make sure you do buy actual maternity towels as normal thin ones just won't cut the mustard, I've also ran into the problem of leaking a lot and running out of clothes/pj's for myself, I have given birth 5 times tho, I do know I'm heavy afterwards so I get always night time and also a Kotex towel, plenty of black full briefs too, also get some mattress pads for under your sheet for before your waters break (in case they do in the nite) and for when u get home, (so u don't leak on your mattress!)
I also liked breast cups as I'm so so milky that I was just leaking through the pads and drowning myself, bra and clothes and it's also sticky so you have to wash which there just isn't time for if your home alone lol
Leggings I find with nice long tshirt or nighties again are a must for the hospital and also the week/10
Days after you give birth, you will be tired and you won't be bothered to get dressed to the nines whilst pooching about the house, leggings hold your pad in nice and tight and it just makes u feel more comfortable especially if you have had stitches. Your belly will feel very very odd, empty and wobbly and your shrinking back and you won't want to wear anything thick like jeans as it will feel alien to you.
Lol sounds delightful eh!

MoonlightMojitos · 21/11/2016 21:32

Great question jpeg and thanks for the lists ladies! I've jotted it all down for later on! Good tip of the leggings too bec, I used to get heavy periods and sleep in leggings when on so defo a good idea for after birth to keep you feeling secure I imagine!

Congrats on the scans ladies and giz I'm sure it's just too early yet so fx for your next scan.

I told work today so got the ball rolling with that. Tbh I don't want to tell people yet but my work Xmas party is next Friday and people will twig I'm not drinking with an open bar (and 3 course meal with wine on the tables) so thought I might as well tell work and I can just be honest then at the party with other colleagues.

Went for dinner tonight with 2 best friends and had a proper chat about it all for the first time so that was quite exciting. Neither of them have kids but we're so interested in everything and asking loads of questions so that was nice!

fuzzywuzzy · 22/11/2016 03:35

For my other two DC I also packed disposable knickers for after the birth, they're not expensive and very very convenient, boots/Superdrug/Tescos all do them.

XxBecxX · 22/11/2016 09:20

I think I felt a kick yesterday, it was a definite something lol but the little sod only did it the once, but it felt substantial lol
I was laying there hoping for a bit more so I'd know for sure, I'm crossing the fingers now hoping this is the start of feeling him xx

jaffacakes16 · 22/11/2016 09:27

Morning all, I'm back here having just got a 3rd positive after 2 mc. I'm a total mess this time. Feeling like I'm just waiting to mc again, had some brown mucus discharge which hasn't helped. Has anyone been signed off work in early pregnancy due to being an emotional wreck post mc? I've not gone in today but don't know if I'm just being a drama queen. Could really do with some positive vibes!

INeedNewShoes · 22/11/2016 09:40

Jaffa - it wouldn't help my mental state to be sitting around. I find work a useful distraction! I think time will pass very slowly for you if you stop everything. But I understand the stress - I've found that it does lessen with every week that passes though.

Bec - that's exciting Smile How many weeks are you?

I may have felt something (though was just a vague sensation) a couple of days ago but I'm only 15+6 so miles off feeling convincing movement yet. I'm so impatient! I can't wait until I get daily reassurance in the form of movement that baby is still going strong.

16-week midwife appointment for me tomorrow. I'm going to beg her to listen to the heartbeat especially after a whole week of me eating next to nothing and not being able to take my aspirin last week after the vomiting bug.

jpeg28 · 22/11/2016 10:15

Congrats on your bfp jaffa... as you know it's the most nerve wracking few weeks and I agree with newshoes I had to keep myself distracted in those first few weeks, although I was on school holidays and spent nearly 3 weeks being miserable on the sofa convinced I was losing the baby. It really didn't help!! I really really hope this is the one for you.

Thanks so much for the list bec.... all sounds so glamorous!! And that's so excited about the kick! I haven't felt one yet but do feel general movements quite a bit now... it's making me feel less worried about my scan Monday.

I'm so so bored at work today. I have so much to do and just don't want to do it! Also I'm ravenous all the time!!

Hope appointment goes well tomorrow newshoes and hope you get to hear the HB... my mean MW wouldn't do it!!

jaffacakes16 · 22/11/2016 16:15

Thanks guys, you're right about working as a distraction I think I was just having a total panic today. My last mc pain started at work quite a long drive from home so I'm terrified of that happening again but I just have to think positive and try to make it through these first few weeks.

Good to see the positive stories on here and no reason I can't be one of them.

HighHopes16 · 22/11/2016 16:54

Had my early scan today and they dated at me 8+6 with a strong heartbeat. I cried my eyes out, can't believe it's really happening this time!! Here's a picture of our little alien 😍

Great news HighHopes!

Welcome jaffa. And congrats on your BFP. I know how you feel. I too am pregnant again after 2 MCs and do feel like another one is inevitable a lot of the time. I had some light bleeding last week so had a scan yesterday which showed a heartbeat. That has helped a little. I've got another booked in 2 weeks time. Can you get an early scan through your EPU?

I still don't have any real pregnancy symptoms, just a bit of tiredness but also haven't been sleeping very well. I really want some for reassurance.

jpeg28 · 22/11/2016 18:38

Amazing news highhopes! So pleased for you.

Whatsername17 · 22/11/2016 18:46

Lovely scan picture highhopes! Dh has been throwing up all day so I've told him he can't come to the scan tomorrow. He's got the major grumpy now. But, the scan clinic shares a waiting room with the MAU and is down the corridor from the delivery suites. He's really ill so it isn't fair on the other women and babies. It's a placental position check so it's more a medical procedure than anything. I feel guilty because he's upset but what else can I do?
