Well done carrick xx

Question:
When's the earliest you girls have experienced Braxton hicks?
I'm nearly 18weeks and I've only just realised today that the strange tight feelin I've been having on and off is actually Braxton hicks, I suppose it got pay me as its early to have them, what do you ladies think?
Xx

Well done cool x

doleritedinosaur · 17/11/2016 21:37

Hi everyone just doing a long catch up.
I'm 24 weeks today, absolutely shattered after going to 2 messy plays in one day and making a cake with housework in between. Baby is moving loads unless DS is blowing raspberries on the bump and then its nope.

Bec I've had braxton hicks since 18/19 weeks with this one, I had a really bad one Saturday night. Seeing midwife next week so going to ask her about them then. From what I remember its pretty normal and doesn't indicate much.

That's great news on the scan Carrick, have they said anything further about centile drop?

Ants will the blood test show if the baby is RH- too? Just I'm having my anti D next month then don't have to have one after birth if the baby is.

Aw Lynsey that does seem like one thing after another. Have you spoken to midwife yet? I've had on and off nerve pain down one leg and the only thing that works is doing yoga for ten minutes every day as DS is destroying my back. Hope you're managing to rest.

Well done on scan Cool.

Jpeg, we're not finding out though I get a bit wobbly sometimes.

Glad you're out INeedshoes, & hope you're feeling better. Don't if this will help but I had sepsis for 2 months before DS was born, I could barely keep anything down, had anti-sickness meds and shots. Potato wedges were the only meal I could keep down. I managed to stay hydrated and took vitamins and minerals. DS came out 6lbs4 and completely unbothered by it and I could breastfeed straight away. So babies will take what they need and survive a lot of things.
I just had to find out what I could keep down but doctors kept stressing hydration was important.

Hope I haven't missed anyone, will try to keep up more. I feel so huge at the moment. Anxiety keeps going up and down but 1 week until midwife and 8 weeks until next scan/sorting out birth.
I've also washed carry cot, baby swing cover, baby hospital bag/changing bag so slowly getting ready. Once christmas is over its going to get scary.

DoubleCarrick · 17/11/2016 22:33

They didn't say anything about the drop. My belly is obviously just a lot bigger than my baby. Which is odd because my bump is actually really compact

XxBecxX · 18/11/2016 08:24

Took all but my oldest Christmas shopping yesterday and I ended up coming straight back home, minus a small pit stop in JD sports that cost me £300 and wasn't on the list!
My little girl is such a little witch, as smart as she is she know exactly how to create mayhem amongst the others, I had to put her on the naughty spot in the middle of the toy shop and she purposely refused to stay there so I said toys down let's go, the others where fumin, she's can be such a difficult child, she started again today at 7.30 over the iPad!
I've spent the evening trying to finish the kids bits online, it's so annoying as Argos was playing up so now I have to drive down there and click and collect about 30 things, i can just see how the day ahead is gunna pan out already 😳

Sah1987 · 18/11/2016 11:47

Becs - a friend of mine has 4 kids and the eldest is exactly like this. She's 7, and so my friend has invested in a santa cam. It goes on the ceiling and has a flashing ref light.

It has worked for her last year and seems to be reining in the behaviour?

Might be an idea??

XxBecxX · 18/11/2016 16:54

Lol worth a try, she's very stoney faced and doesn't really give any type of hoot when she's in one of those poochy moods lol

MoonlightMojitos · 18/11/2016 17:31

I did something really silly earlier. I had a tiny bit of blood on tissue when I wiped (I still check every time :( ) but I've had a bit of bleeding from bum lately so wasn't sure where it had come from so I had a quick poke to check if there was any more (vaginally not bum!) And there wasn't any BUT my cervix feels open. I know it should be firmly shut now im 11 weeks so now I'm just a mess and feel so anxious that it means it's all gone wrong and I'm going to mc soon. A quick Google suggests it's usual if you've already given birth before but I haven't. I don't know if it's worth ringing midwife or not as I know there's nothing they could do if I am going to mc shortly anyway? I have my dating scan next Friday and a week feels like forever now I won't be able to relax. I just want to curl up for a week.

jbee664 · 18/11/2016 18:00

Oh Mojito, I'm sorry to hear that but hopefully nothing at all to worry about. Call EPU and see if they can get you in for a scan, I'm sure they will if you're 11 weeks. Everything crossed for you!

Naschkatze · 18/11/2016 20:28

Mojito I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but I can understand how you're feeling. If you're worried ask midwife I'm sure they won't mind.

I'm having a freak out this evening. I absentmindedly drank from my glass of water after my cat had drunk from it (before I could stop him)! I'm now panicking about getting all sorts (toxoplasmosis) as a result and doing harm to baby. I know this isn't really rational but if anyone would like to reassure me that I'm being silly I would appreciate it!

jbee664 · 18/11/2016 20:48

Nasch - I freaked out at a friends house when the cat was all over me (I'm not really a cat person anyway) as just generally a bit paranoid about it all at the moment. The way I had to rationalise it was how people have healthy babies in awful circumstances all over the world all the time - people who smoke, drink and take drugs do it so I'm sure a little bit of water that your cat has drank will be fine - you live with this cat after all and have been okay so far. That's not meant to be in the least bit patronising by the way as I totally get it - I googled the other day if I should have the heated seats on in my car!

doleritedinosaur · 18/11/2016 21:25

Mojo can you ring your midwife/midwife triage for advice? I'm sure they can offer advice/book an earlier scan especially if you did have bleeding.

Nasch my cat does the same so I just drink squash now which she hates & we got a kitten when I was pregnant with DS who I ended up bathing/cleaning up poo from with no issues if that helps?
If you really are worried your GP will do the toxicplaxmosis test for you but you've got more chance of getting it if you garden.

Jbee my friend has heated seats in her car, I loved them so much. OH said we do not need the ones from Aldi.

We walked a lot today around Gloucester & my back & hips feel ruined. OH forgot how much I eat as well.

Sorry for those of you feeling anxious today.

Naschkatze · 18/11/2016 21:45

Thanks Jbee and Dino. The things that get to me keep taking me by surprise!

fuzzywuzzy · 18/11/2016 21:50

Mojito can you go into your local EPAU, ours lets women self refer and they carry out scans and examinations and is open during the weekend.

Hope everything is ok.

I've got a question if anyone can help please. I've just received my 12 week Screening results back and my (adjusted) risk for Downs is 1 in 3066.
This seems quite high to me as when I had my other children the risk was something like 20000 or something (loads of zeros).

Does anyone have any idea what this means, the letter is saying it means low risk but I'm worried now, should I go for the harmony test? I'm really feeling worried this baby has been so so so very longed for and I've had so many miscarriages I can't bear it.

MoonlightMojitos · 19/11/2016 00:25

Thanks ladies. I've booked a private scan for tomorrow now. Epu isn't open weekends and I really don't feel I can wait the whole weekend worrying if I'm about to start bleeding. Also I can't really take more time off work, I had to have a meeting with a director this week as I've had too much time off in last 6 months already... I know that should be stopping me if I'm worried but I don't want to have to tell them yet and I'm dreading telling them as it is. 10 hours to wait and I'll have some answers.

MoonlightMojitos · 19/11/2016 00:27

fuzzy did they say anything about why it's higher this time and do you know what the average for your age should be/if this is higher than that? I don't have any experience with screening results yet so can't offer much advice sorry.

emily86 · 19/11/2016 08:01

mojitos keeping my fingers crossed for you for the scan this morning.

fuzzy if it helps that is a risk of 0.03% which seems pretty low to me. I'd say go for the harmony test if it would help gI've peace of mind but that it would be important to think about what you would do with the result whatever the result before you have it.

nasch I also drank some water out of a glass my cat had poked his nose in. They're such little pests! I think you have to come into cat faeces from an infected cat to get toxoplasmosis so I wouldn't worry too much.

As for me no more bleeding since Tuesday. I'm hopefullying 6 weeks today. Have been feeling quite tired and short tempered but don't know if it is still just jetlag from getting back from holiday on Sunday. 48 hours to go until my scan.

INeedNewShoes · 19/11/2016 08:45

Moonlight - hope your scan today is reassuring.

Fuzzy - if you can afford the Harmony test it might be worth it for reassurance. They are low risk results you've had though so once you've had a bit more time to process it you might feel better about it.

On toxoplasmosis, you can ask your midwife to run a simple blood test to check for it. I did after I spent a week crawling in and out of a tent on a campsite that was overrun with stray cats (the campsite not the tent thankfully).

Whatsername17 · 19/11/2016 09:07

My downs test was much higher than I expected and I was told it was my age. I'm 33.

doleritedinosaur · 19/11/2016 09:26

Hope the scan goes well Moonlight, you could see if they will look at cervical thickness for you if that's what you are worried about? It's more accurate transvaginally but not sure if they will offer that but they can see it abdominally.

Hope scan time comes quickly for you too Emily, tiredness does creep in at 6 weeks.

Fuzzy could you talk to midwife or a number on the letter about the results? Or as I need said above, if it helps you going for the harmony test?

Hope everyone has a good day today.
DS booted my bump & bump tried to boot him back, feeling a bit battered inside.

5tardusty · 19/11/2016 11:13

Hi everyone.

I'm back at 4+3 again after 2 mmcs in April and August this year. Found out last saturday as bfp was quite early.

Feeling quite numb about it all and trying not to think about it, though i am still taking daily pregnancy tests. EPU told me last time to just ring them directly next time i got pregnant and they'd see me at 8weeks for a scan. Putting off ringing them though as i just know it'll be bad news again. At least though they can refer me for tests and see if there is a reason this keeps happening.

Nice to see so many familiar names having healthy pregnancies!!

purpleviolet1 · 19/11/2016 11:33

Good luck this morning moonlight, let us know how it goes.

Welcome star dusty, I know how you feel. Miscarriage in January and June and found out I was pregnant again in July. I'm 21 weeks now and the anxiety is still going strong but so is the baby Smile everything looks ok so far so just taking each day as it comes. Xx

jbee664 · 19/11/2016 11:38

Thinking of you mojito, hope you come back on here with good news soon.

Welcome 5star and congrats, I totally understand your fears, I have them too!

INeedNewShoes · 19/11/2016 11:42

Welcome Star

Though I shouldn't speak for everyone, I think we all feel the same as you!

Every little milestone passed is a nice surprise because I keep expecting bad news. I'm 15+3 now after two chemical pregnancies and a MMC at 11. My next milestone is my 16-week midwife appointment on Wednesday when I am hoping the midwife will check the heartbeat.

Its great that you can refer yourself to the EPU for a scan at 8 weeks. The only thing you can do between now and then is keep yourself busy (well this has helped me anyway!).

fuzzywuzzy · 19/11/2016 11:55

Thank you everyone. I was absolutely panicking about the results yesterday. I'll speak to my midwife about it I think.
I think it is because of my age I'm 38.

5tar, I know how you feel, when I got my current bfp I was so scared I didn't want to think about it, our EPAU was very good I got seen at six weeks (I started spotting at five week), the first scan they saw a heartbeat I wasn't expecting it just hoping for a normal progressing pregnancy.

Each and every scan I'm convinced will be bad news, I'm trying hard not to love this baby too much just in case.

I was prescribed cyclogest at 6weeks and will be continuing it till 14weeks. Maybe ask if you can have progesterone perscribed to help support your pregnancy? Or ask to discuss what if anything they can do to help support this pregnancy & you?

I still haven't received any answers as to what caused the previous miscarriages

MoonlightMojitos · 19/11/2016 11:56

Eurgh just did a post now it's gone.....

Thanks for all your support ladies, everything was fine! Had some coke before to encourage movement and baby was flipping and wriggling all over the place! One minute on its back, then on its front then face up and had a little 4d sneak peak. Won't be doing that next week as I doubt they'd be able to get NT measurement it was so fidgety! Anterior placenta. No idea what's up with my cervix but going to stop poking around in there now and try and relax. They dated me 8 days ahead of my original due date though so now 12+3 and gone from a June baby to a May one.
