Oh Moonlight this is excellent news Smile

Quite agree with your plan to stop poking around your cervix! Although to be honest I say that because I have never investigated my cervix so I wouldn't know what's normal and what's not!

jbee664 · 19/11/2016 12:04

Oh mojitos, I'm so glad, how lovely you got to see baby having a goof old wriggle too. And yes...no more poking around now Smile

jpeg28 · 19/11/2016 12:20

Moonlight that's great news and a lovely scan photo!!

purpleviolet1 · 19/11/2016 15:46

Very good news !! Grin plus you are past the 12 week milestone now. Xx

fuzzywuzzy · 19/11/2016 16:44

Mojito that's a lovely scan, hope you feel reassured. If you are spotting I'd suggest resting as much as possible. I had bleeding at five weeks (and was inconsolable), I just had bed rest as much as possible and eventually it stopped.

fuzzywuzzy · 19/11/2016 16:45

Ps we're almostdie date buddies I'm 12.2 weeks today.

Whatsername17 · 19/11/2016 16:50

Congratulations moonlight!

Naschkatze · 19/11/2016 17:50

Great news Moonlight. Lovely picture too!

emily86 · 19/11/2016 18:02

Congrats moonlight! Great news.

Welcome star

5tardusty · 19/11/2016 19:32

Great scan mojito!

Been feeling quite queasy for the past few hours and had travel sickness feelings on the two mornings i car shared this week. Gently hoping this means something is different this time, as i never had any nausea with either of my others. Anyone else noticed differences with successful pregnancies??

jbee664 · 19/11/2016 19:45

Hi 5star - I've felt a lot more sick this time and actually been sick, my acupuncturist told me it's a v good sign as a strong pregnancy hormone.
I've found acupressure bands really help take the edge off it if you're struggling.

fuzzywuzzy · 19/11/2016 19:49

5tar, I've felt nauseous and exhausted throughout this pregnancy, previous ones I felt fine. I'm cautiously taking it as a good sign and am greatful for every wave of nausea (didn't think I'd ever write that).

And doh realised I'm 13.2 weeks today, have been waiting to get to 12weeks safely for so long!

doleritedinosaur · 19/11/2016 23:24

Great news Moonlight! & yes definitely stay away from the cervix.

The nausea was definitely more constant with my successful pregnancies Sah, I still get it now at 24 weeks.

XxBecxX · 20/11/2016 08:05

Amazing moonlight!
I'm 34 and my risk for DS come back as 1-1500.
Last healthy pregnancy I was 29 and it was 1-100000, so I looked at this one a bit squiffy, but I'm not going to worry to much about it right now, if it where the chance to win £50000,1-1500, I wouldn't feel particularly lucky, so I'm not going to dwell on the odds, got my scan on the 30th so we shall see, iam very scared about him being healthy and pray everything will be just as it should ❤️💙❤️💙

Thanks Bec, it does put things into perspective.
We've had such a hard time with past pregnancies I'm finding it hard to relax at all.

To cap it I've got a horrible cold which is now causing high temperatures.

Everyone who's further ahead and is feeling movment when did you start to feel those first flutters? I'm waiting to feel something so I can actually feel there's a baby in there. I know I sound a bit mad.

jpeg28 · 20/11/2016 14:02

fuzzy I've just started feeling flutters this past week and I'm 18+5 now. I don't feel it every day and sometimes I'm not sure what it is! But it's definitely something. My MW said she wasn't worried that I hadn't felt anything when I saw her at 17 weeks, she said that's too early for a first baby.
OH suggested we made a list of baby things we need. Which means he is watching the rugby while I make the list!

For those of you who have children already... what are the absolute essentials you think is new mums need for those first few months with a newborn? I don't want to spend too much!!

doleritedinosaur · 20/11/2016 14:48

fuzzy I felt flutters from 10 weeks but this is my second and they did not get regular until 20 weeks, also it depends on the placement of your placenta and baby still has room to "hide."

With DS it was 18/19 weeks with anterior placenta and not completely regular before 26 weeks I think.

jpeg for me with DS I picked up several boxes of wipes, I use Aldi ones now but pampers sensitive/water wipes/johnsons sensitive.
Cotton balls for beginning,
Coconut oil to stop the first poo's sticking to baby's bum,
Nail clippers and thermometer,
1000 nappy sacks,
several packs of newborn nappies but I didn't get too many as don't know which brand is going to suit,
I picked up some up to 1 month but mostly 0-3 babygros and vests, I actually got gros up to 6 months then outfits from 6 months,
several baby "jackets"
A couple of blankets, both cellular and fleece,
A sophie giraffe for teething, actually worked and now need to get enough as we've lost her.
A playmat and a baby swing as DS was clingy and hated bouncer,
A sling which saved my sanity,
Moses basket and several sheets,
About 30 muslins cloths
A nice changing bag, mine came with the travel system, I packed a change of outfits 3 times, and one for myself, (learnt the hard way when DS pee'd all over me in a coffee shop.)

For yourself
Lanisoh for breastfeeding and breast pads plus maternity pads,
Giant black granny knickers, maternity nightie and a black towel for hospital.
Also for after birth - dark pjs/leggings incase you leak,

This time I'm just getting a sleepyhead so new baby which actually hopefully sleep in the cot, another Sophie, one of the mum teething necklaces and that's it really as still have all the baby stuff above.

One of the best ways is just to buy basics and then go as you're going along as babies are fickle, you'll see someone use something and think oh that's useful.
Hope my list helps, think I've remembered most of it.

jpeg28 · 20/11/2016 15:05

dolerite that is so helpful!! Thanks so much... I'm writing it all down now!!

emily86 · 20/11/2016 22:28

Good luck for your scan tomorrow Gizmo.

I have major scanxiety for mine. Not feeling hopeful right now. Keep thinking I must have imagined the positive and when I go tomorrow they're going to say I was never even pregnant and I'll feel really stupid!Confused Just want to get it over and done with.

Gizmojo · 20/11/2016 22:54

Thanks, emily and same to you. I'm really worried, too. I had no signs at all that anything was wrong last time, so second guess everything. I know what you mean about just wanting it over and done with. Will keep my fingers crossed for you.

jbee664 · 21/11/2016 07:50

Good luck Emily and Gizmo, thinking of you today.

emily86 · 21/11/2016 08:53

Thanks jbee.

I've had mine already and there was a heartbeat! Never actually had a scan when there's been a heartbeat before. Measuring around 6 weeks. Got another scan booked for 2 weeks time. I'm not sure how long the relief will last but I guess I need to just take one day at a time and hope for the best.

Fingers crossed for you Gizmo.

jbee664 · 21/11/2016 09:25

Brilliant news Emily, I understand the relief, I cried this time when I heard the heartbeat as I never had before either!

theAntsareMyFriends · 21/11/2016 10:01

jpeg so nice that you are beginning to feel movements. I love that feeling.

Here is my essential baby list:

Lots of muslins (you really can't have enough)
Nappies (we only got one pack and bought more when needed and went over to cloth after 2 packs)
Cotton wool for wipes (I used a spray bottle to moisten it)
Baby grows - a few of each size but not too many of the small ones (I only got 0-3 but DS was too small for these. Other people I know have gone straight into 0-3months ones or bigger)
A nice baby grow for photos and to take home from the hospital
A few cardigans/jackets (anything that doesn't go on over the head as its easier to put on them)
A few blankets (I had 2 cellular, 2 fleece and one knitted)
A play mat (or just any where nice to park the baby when you need to out it down)
A sling/carrier
A baby bath (some people use the normal bath but I was worried I'd drop him so was glad I had one)
Sophie the giraffe (I was sceptical about the hype but it was amazing)

For me
Lansinoh or mothercare 100% lanolin cream (this saved my nipples!)
Breast pads and nursing bra
Maternity pads (take as many from the hospital as you are offered as they are really good)
Black pants and loose fitting stretchy trousers

Happy shopping!
