Thats a v. good idea. Ive not got bump yet (9+ weeks - due in July) but I am north of border, north Glasgow

bananasarny · 14/12/2006 13:40

my mother in law went in labour down south and they desperately tried to get back over the border, think they made it to york!!

weewishyouamerryonion · 14/12/2006 13:48

good afteroon folks - and thanks to GMM for the new thread!

geordiemacmincepie · 14/12/2006 13:51

dp reckons that as soon as I go into labour he is driving south... I asked him if he knew where the hospital in Carlisle was... his response "who mentioned hospitals? As long as you are in England it doesnt matter where you give birth..."

bananasarny · 14/12/2006 13:53

ha geordie, tell him that the wee one will also have a cute Scots accent when starts school!!

Vio · 14/12/2006 13:55

yes, scots accent is cute isn't it? little boys and girls talking in cute accent...lovely!!

geordiemacmincepie · 14/12/2006 13:57

He will indeedy... although mummy is from newcastle and daddy is from liverpool... so h's going to have a very mixed up accent!!! Everyone at work is telling dp that the little one will end up scoring the winning goal for scotland against england in the 2026 world cup.. that went down well!!!

Double dutch to all other relatives south of the border - my mum's husband is from Edinburgh, she still doesnt understand him after 20 years!

geordiemacmincepie · 14/12/2006 14:17

Just done a quick round of touting on the ante-natal threads to see if anyone wants to join us!!!

Was thinking about a meet up in the new year... a friend of mine owns PURE, the spa at ocean terminal in leith... would be lovely to have a treatment, shopping and lunch before the beans arrive!!!

OP posts:
bananasarny · 14/12/2006 14:38

geordiemacmincepie · 14/12/2006 14:42

Infact my friend was in the scotland news on tuesday night talking about the new pensions thing if anyone saw it?

OP posts:
Baublesbenson · 14/12/2006 14:47

Me me! just saw your tout on May 06. I'm in Edinburgh and live about 10 mins walk from Ocean Terminal. Would like a meet up

geordiemacmincepie · 14/12/2006 14:49

Ooooh it worked then!!!

There is another thread that we had before, private scans in scotland, we are all on there but have replaced it with this new thread. I'm over in uddingston, orginally from newcastle, expecting no.1 (a boy) at the end of april.

Nice to "meet" you

OP posts:
Baublesbenson · 14/12/2006 14:58

Nice to meet you too. I'll have a look at the other thread - have to say I'm not too bothered about not having a 20 week scan, I can wait till May...

geordiemacmincepie · 14/12/2006 14:59

its just all our details and such like, I'm sure the others will be around soon to introduce themselves... I had a 20 week at a place in Livvy last week - have to say that it was amazing, if expensive at £150!!!

OP posts:
Chooster · 14/12/2006 15:23

let me introduce myself!i am originally from HK., 32, expecting my 1st baby. ( a boy !!) I am in Glasgow.

weewishyouamerryonion · 14/12/2006 17:00

hi folks - good to see more of a tartan gang emerging! hello to you all! we will need to do a call round for all our old pals! liath, chubski etc!

maybe we should all do our vital stats on this new thread
me irish 35 1st LO, pink bean, 18.04.07, glasgow

a meet in jan sounds fab. i am all up for a bit of pampering! on the april thread there is talk of a london meetup but i think that will be in feb? i live in glasgow but do teh daily commute through to edinburgh so wouldnt mind. guess it would have to be a saturday as quite a few of us work..

GMM - we talked about accents - i think i wil get cds send over from home with my family talking to play to LO in the womb. i have been here 3 years and cant understand what alot of people say. baby sign language may be the way ahead!!

Anjo1 · 14/12/2006 19:49

hello everyone !
yay ! more bumps
WO - everything go well with your appointment ? hope so .
Baublesbenson- I used to live a stones throw from Ocean Terminal , now live in Hamilton, miss Leith though ,
My baba is due February the 11th so might be a bit too huge and awkward to make it to a January meet up
maybe after baby comes.

Miaou · 14/12/2006 20:30

Another one north of the border here - however I have no chance of joining you for a meetup, I'm too far north! I'm 9 weeks pg with my fourth and live just south of Fort William on the Morvern Peninsula (I can see Mull from my house, just to give you an idea where I am!). Not Scottish - moved up here from Yorkshire about 5 years ago. Hoping to have this one at the hospital in FW but may have to go up to Inverness .

Hello to my fellow Scotland-dwellers!

trixymalixy · 14/12/2006 21:03

Nice one with this new thread GMM, have attracted some new northern bumps!!

LOL at your dp GMM!! When my GP asked us which hospital we would like to go to for the birth, my DH said Carlisle as he is originally from Bolton!! GP was very confused.

suzi2 · 14/12/2006 21:32

Hello - I'm in Fife so not too far from Edinburgh. A meet might be good but I'm starting to feel a bit cumbersome at only 31 wks! Baby girl is due 15th Feb. I'm 28 and have a 16 month old DS - same age as Miaous... waves

suis · 15/12/2006 02:02

... and not to be confused with suzi2 on the last post, (hello from the Feb thread BTW)...

I'm just about the only actual Scot on here...

I'm just outside Stirling (though an Edinburgh commuter for my sins) and due Feb 11th with my first.

I think I also manage to be the oldest on here (I was at the last count anyway) at a creaking ancient 36..

Chooster · 15/12/2006 08:21

Hey Suis - I'm 35 so not far behind you in the creaking old age stakes!
