9 days late but neg tests.....

Hi,

Im 9 days late and with no cramps. usually my periods are spot on so im confused with this one. Thing is my pregnancy tests have all been Neg. I had a nasty water infection for which i got "pregnancy friendly" anti-biotics for and finished them almost a week ago.

Could this be the reason i am so late?

Does it look hopeful i may be pregnant?

I have been told to go and get a blood test @ the docs but how long does it take for the results?

Don't mean to be negative, but sometimes a period just skips for no reason, are you stressed? Are you eating well? A doctors blood test should just take about 2 -3 days, I had a blood test before I had a procedure at the hospital one time and the result was back in an hour or so, so from GP's should take a couple of days. good luck...

Its ok, i'd rather ppl were truthful! I've never missed a period in 8 years (never been late until the last one but that was only 2 days). Im probably less stressed than i have been for the last 6 months and diet is the same. The only reason i can see is a water infection.....?

don't know that that would cause you to be late, but then don't know that it wouldn't??!!! I have skipped one once for no reason, only reason I said so...just a random thing...

have all the tests you've done been the same brand? Only reason I ask, I've noticed recently people saying they got a negative and then tested with another brand and got a positive! never heard of it before???!!

Hmn, i just dont know. My boyfriend and i have been trying for 5 months so i would hope its positive but i dont know! Do u think i cld go to hospital for a blood test or wld they get angry and send me to my GP? Hospital not very helpful around here

Yeh they have been actually. Think its worth doing a diff 1 in the morning? Its sad but i bought a clear blue digital but because it was expensive, i've been buying cheaper ones to test. I wanted to do the clear blue when i knew i was pregnant so i cld take a pic of the words on the stick (sounds sad doesnt it!)

Not a chance! Sorry, hospital would not offer this service, it would be a waste of your time trying, your GP is the only person who would do this. Only reason i had mine done at the hospital was because I was having a procedure and they needed to know that I wasn't before they could go ahead.

Not at all sad, my friend has her BFP framed on her living room wall and her dd is 3! Probably would be worth trying a diff brand, you never know make sure it's first thing though!

I have to go into docs in the morn because they're doing some more tests for my water infection so i think i'll see if i can get in with my doc too......hes been very good with me so i hope he'll help! I feel like such a lemon but im one of these ppl thats like clockwork and i usually get cramps 2 - 3 days before bleeding and i've had nothing!

You're going in for blood tests? If you are, you could ask them to do one, they may say no if it's not ordered from your GP, but they may be helpful, they could always get authorisation afterwards, save you needing two tests, btw, DR wouldn't take the blood anyway, would send you to nurse or phlebotomist, but for cost reasons, a GP would probably need to order it. Could always ask if you could speak to GP on the phone and save both of your time. Still might not need to, if you dare to use your clearblue!!

Do you reckon i cld make an apt with the nurse and ask for the blood test without seeing my doc first. The problem i have with telephone apts is they only do them when im working and i darent tell my work im trying for a baby! My doc knows we're trying, in fact they've suggested a procedure to check for kidney stones that cant happen till your cleared of being pregnant so i cld use that as an excuse in a way couldnt i? this sounds awful but i just want to know for sure now whats going on.......the clearblue is in its packet on top of the loo seat so i remember to do it in the morn!

Well did the clear blue and its come back neg. sigh im so confused now! Started to feel a bit sick so im taking that as being a good sign instead of a bug or something! Waiting for 8.30 to see if i can get in at docs!

Just made docs apt, earliest i can get in is 9.25 on Wed. I asked for a blood test and they said theres no such thing! Help!

ive just had this happen to me last month, i was 10 days late and done 4 tests which were negative. I went to the doctors and they took a sample to send off and when i got home later that day i got my period.
If you are worried or stressed about this then that could be affecting you as well

Did they take a urine sample off you? Thats what they said to me but apparently it doesnt show anyway until you're 45 days+......

Yeh i am worried about it, i mean i feel like i have no control over my body! But i've been through some really stressful times and its never made me late before or miss a period so i cant see why something that in comparrison would be small, could have such an effect.

Im gutted i cant get into the docs before, hes really good and i could just do with some advice more than anything to ease my mind.

they took a urine sample off me but they said that if ive had negative tests that the chances are that the one they send off will be the same.
I was worried from being about 2 days late because i have a 7 month old baby already so the thought of being pregnant so soon worried me.
Can you not go to a family planning clinic or something as i know they can do tests for you, just a thought

I had 2 negative tests, and used the clear blue digital ones so it was definite i.e. pregnant/not pregnant rather than 'Is it a line?' My af still hadn't come - I was about a week late - and always really regular - so used another brand - and was pregnant - dd2 is now 10 months!

(Dd1 was only 7 months when I got pregnant with dd2 and it hasn't been half as hard as I thought it would be! )

I have read a number of times that stress can only delay your ovulation dates and that is the reason for delayed periods.

If you google ovulation myths am sure you will fine something about it.

Sorry to hear that your test was negative, it's rubbish that there is no such thing as a blood test, admittedly I hadn't heard of it before I had it and questionned it, I've heard of it since as well. I am assuming that it was not your Dr who said so? Receptionist??? Still thinking of you ((hugs))

Thanks so much for everyones comments. Wilkie50, you're so right, its much better here

I've made a docs apt for Wed so im gonna push him hard for a blood test. I bet you its all about costs etc........

See i wondered if i'd ovulated late as i'd been doing the ovulation tests and they were coming out neg. Thing is i missed a couple coz i went away and i asumed it was then. Also the doc said my anti-biotics cld affect the test results and make them neg.

Im gonna have to wait till wed i guess......

Thanks! Keep your fingers crossed please! I dont know, i got some hope from reading peoples comments in threads before mine about low hormone levels etc and keep hoping!
