Hi ladies,

Just wondering if anyone is due in the next couple of weeks and wants to keep a thread of how they're feeling, their daily struggles or keep updated with labour stories etc?!

I'm 38+0 and have been having niggles for a week or so. I have mild polyhydramnios and have been told to expect baby anytime soon, although some days I don't feel pregnant and feel I still have ages to go!

How're you feeling and have you had any signs that your LO will be making an appearance anytime soon?

I'm 40+2 today. Still waiting and know what you mean re sometimes feeling 'not pregnant' and still having ages to go. Other times I feel huge and like I'm about to pop! Been having a few Braxton Hicks and lower belly cramps (like period pains) but no show or waters breaking or feeling like 'Jesus, it's about to happen!' - just the general tiredness/crabbiness now. Also hating sleeping on my left side only!

From what everyone says, there's not always any warning and I think it's just a matter of waiting it out till baby is ready to make an arrival.

Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy! Flowers

hazel88 · 07/02/2015 21:48

Wow 40+2 and still no sign, you must be pretty fed up by now! Hope you don't have to wait too much longer. I'll be so crabby if I go over!!

I'm 39+2 today with DD3 and driving myself completely mad with it already, so I can imagine it must feel rubbish at 40+2, poor you Feather!

Keep looking for any tiny sign that it might be starting which I know is silly because both times before, when it really was starting I was completely in denial not looking for any signs.

Absolutely see where you're coming from with some moments feeling massive and about to start and the next feeling like the whole thing is passing in a flash and I'm not ready at all. Oh it's so frustrating!!!!!!!

Zsazsabinks · 07/02/2015 22:06

Oh, and talk about being a bit mad with it all. This morning, I cried because it was an arse putting my socks on, then cried because DH didn't sympathise with me being a total wimp about said socks. Then lost it over lack of biscuits in the cupboard. Hormones are ridiculous!

fishcake84 · 07/02/2015 22:07

38+2 here with dc1. Totally ready for baby to show up, I'm getting bored of waiting now! Think I have had a small "show" the other day and plenty of braxton hicks, but nothing very convincing. I'm dreading going overdue, it feels like I've been pregnant forever! Good luck to all!

FeatherFeather11 · 07/02/2015 22:10

Hahaha! Feeling ok for the moment. But if she's not here by the end of the week I'll be climbing the walls!

zsas what were the signs that had you in denial?!

Zsazsabinks · 07/02/2015 22:17

Might be a bit TMI but......

Just back ache, braxton hicks, I think a little bit of mucous plug (it was like clear snotty jelly rather than blood tinged), general raging hormones. I had a little 'investigation' and can feel my cervix too, which I couldn't before......

Nothing actually doing though I don't think.

I know that with the other two I was having real contractions that I could time before it even occurred to me 'oooh, this might be it' so I'm just being super impatient and annoyed.

FeatherFeather11 · 07/02/2015 22:21

Ooooh, sounds like it's all coming along!

Good luck everyone! Here we go....!

Zsazsabinks · 07/02/2015 22:26

Oh it really isn't for me, I think I might be the first woman ever to be pregnant for over ten years or something stupid like that. Grin

What's everyone doing to try to distract themselves from the constant 'is it isn't it going to happen today' thoughts?

fishcake84 · 07/02/2015 22:55

I am mostly distracting myself with chocolate! Went to the cinema the other day too, that was good.

Anyone else feel like they've got a grapefruit between their legs?

bellaboo88 · 07/02/2015 23:01

38+6 tomorrow! I deffo have a melon between my legs, dp tries to make me walk normal paced & gets frustrated as I waddle!

I'm barely sleeping, intense BH that don't seem to end & lovelybrowny cm. Think I had part of my plug a week ago, not quite what I expected!

Cherryblossom200 · 07/02/2015 23:11

I would like to join please Smile I'm 39 + 4 and had enough grrrr! This is my first so could go overdue, but I've been losing my show every day since last weekend. Also been having lower back pain the last few days and mild period type cramps and strange shooting pains in my boobs! Who knows when it will happen, but I hope soon. My bump is rock hard to the point it feels like I'm sleeping with a football inside me. I've definitely had enough and the thought of going over due by 2 weeks I think would seriously drive me nuts!!!

Good luck ladies! Maybe one of us will go into labour tonight Smile

Xx

MrsCorr · 07/02/2015 23:13

I'm 39 + 1 today & no signs of baby. Heads still not engaged but midwife said that's normal, some babies done engage until your water breaks. Plus side is I don't really have any pressure/pain down low because baby isn't that low yet.
Convinced I'm going to go over & need to be induced. I'm placing bets now that all your babies come before mine Wink
Have had an easy pregnancy though so can't complain, the boredom & waiting is what's killing me!

Zsazsabinks · 07/02/2015 23:22

I have a lovely midwife friend and we were talking about baby being engaged and the cervix today. I think engagement can mean pretty much nothing and babies can pop in and out right up until they're born. So when someone says "ooooh bump is still very high", don't worry. Also, with first babies, your cervix tends to thin out and drop down prior to birth and then open over the course of the birth, whereas with subsequent labours that can all happen at once. Basically, there is no real way of telling if anything is imminent.

Babies are really annoying! Would be much simpler and less frustrating if we could just have a crystal ball!

WorrisomeHeart · 08/02/2015 07:43

37 weeks today with DS2 and scheduled for ELCS on 23 Feb. It can't come soon enough! My DS1 is getting totally fed up with me not being able more around much to play with him and I'm just sore, tired, emotional and the rest! Have to sort baby's room out but otherwise I'm not doing anything but lie on the sofa and watch telly. Thank god for full time nursery! Will have a read back now to 'meet' you all! Grin

hazel88 · 08/02/2015 08:12

Before last week baby hadn't begun to 'drop'. I felt a bit different a couple of days last week and had bouts of period-type pains and backache. Went to the Hospital at the end of the week for a polyhydramnios check and baby is 4/5 palpable, so I'm guessing those feelings were baby starting to make her way in to position! Over those couple of days I was convinced labour was nigh so when having a shower I insisted on shaving every inch of my furry body...we're now a few days on with no baby and it's all starting to grow back already Angry

Looking forward to the small things in life when baby is here like being able to do the dishes without having to bend right over the sink to reach them causing my back to feel it's going to break and me getting way to emotional over a few plates, or being able to turn in bed without making noises that can only be described as 'animal-like'.

The only thing I'm doing to pass the time is nesting! Trying to keep busy as I'm too fidgety and uncomfortable to sit still and put my feet up. Now and then I've tried to pamper myself- even managed to give myself a pedicure last week and felt so much better for it!

Is anyone nervous of their waters going during the night? I don't know why I am really, but when I get up for the usual trips to the loo I get out of bed so cautiously thinking Niagra Falls is about to shoot out of me!

Hope someone pops soon!

Cherryblossom200 · 08/02/2015 08:30

I'm worried about my waters breaking at nightConfused I've been leaking 'something' not sure what the past few days. So will see what happens! Anyone go into labour last night? x

FeatherFeather11 · 08/02/2015 08:42

Still here! Still no labour!

hazel know exactly what you mean re shaving! Was thinking that I have to do it all again soon!

Also, re waters breaking, I am so paranoid about it happening IN bed, that I've had a Tena incontinence bed pad on under the fitted sheet for the last month...!

Cherryblossom200 · 08/02/2015 08:55

Awww bless incontinence pad sounds really sexy Grin but better safe then sorry I guess!

hazel88 · 08/02/2015 08:57

Glad I'm not the only one worried at night! I don't know why I'm scared though, DP will be here whereas if it happens during the daytime I've been told to phone for an ambulance due to risk of cord prolapse and so would have to meet DP at the hospital , so at home during the night would be better! I've been thinking about sleeping on a towel but thought it could cause even more discomfort during the night?!

OP posts:
FeatherFeather11 · 08/02/2015 09:08

Buy yourself some bed pads if you're worried! Don't even feel it's there and they're specially made for people who wee in their sleep! Blush

Didn't know about the chance of cord prolapsing - one more thing to worry about!

Jodie1982 · 08/02/2015 09:14

Hey, I'll join you lovely ladies. 39+1 with Dc5. In severe pain with pelvic pains, my pubic bone feels like it's burning and tearing, each step I take is agonising Sad I've literally been awake all night, I'm so tired I feel like crying I have no patience whatsoever today, poor kiddies Sad I feel like a poo mummy. Getting 'Him' up in a minute, he falls asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow, snores all poxy night n gets a good 8+hrs sleep, so I'm going to bed for a few hrs I shall b telling him to leave me alone, do NOT wake me for anything! Every night I struggle, but last night was a p*ss take. Sad
On a brighter note, 13th feb is induction day! I asked consultant to not let me go over due, due to clinically large babies n severe SPD and he kindly agreed, so day before Due date I'm going in, I'm actually quite nervous lol didn't think I would be as I've done it 4x before? This week will drag by for me Sad I need my body back now, it hurts way too much.

Hope all the over due ladies deliver soon, it's awful going over due, bloody mean on the body n mind.

Jo x.

hazel88 · 08/02/2015 09:18

Oh the dignity!! TMI but I was sat on the toilet for what felt like an age the other night with constipation...I coughed and wee'd at the same! Did it again to check if what just happened actually happened and yes, new party trick! Blush

I'm only at risk of cord prolapse because of the polyhydramnios. But while waiting for the paramedics I can go on to all fours with my bum in the air to encourage baby to move and to reduce the risk. The Consultant told me the other day that when I phone Delivery Suite they may ask me to put my hand up my nooni and see if I can feel the cord...what the?!! Surely once your waters go you're at an increased risk of infection without putting your own hand up there, plus...WHAT THE HELL DOES THE CORD FEEL LIKE?! I could be shaking DD's hand for all I know! Think I'll leave the rummaging to the pros!

Awww Jodie that sounds awful Sad it really isn't long for you now, imagine how much better you'll feel in just 5 days time and with a beautiful baby in your arms Smile Thanks

Hi all,
It's great reading all your stories, as a first timer, it's useful to hear what to expect and what is normal!
I'm 37.5 and feel like she's going to drop out as I walk, although I'm told it gets a little more painful than that! I only have to walk short distances and everything from my belly button down is in pain. People keep telling me they think I will have her early, which is starting to really annoy me, as I'm already getting the "anything happening yet" text messages and never seen my in-laws so much.
I think I will be investing in some bed pads they sound like a great idea, I never though I'd worry so much about my waters breaking everywhere but it's starting to freak me out a bit!
I will be keeping my fingers crossed for all of us, especially those of you 40+ weeks! xx
