Hi ladies,

Just wondering if anyone is due in the next couple of weeks and wants to keep a thread of how they're feeling, their daily struggles or keep updated with labour stories etc?!

I'm 38+0 and have been having niggles for a week or so. I have mild polyhydramnios and have been told to expect baby anytime soon, although some days I don't feel pregnant and feel I still have ages to go!

How're you feeling and have you had any signs that your LO will be making an appearance anytime soon?

Please don't worry about breast vs bottle. In my opinion it's more important to enjoy your baby while they are still so little.

I'm going straight to formula from birth. Not even a whiff of breast milk. And you know what? All our babies will end up exactly the same Smile

Babie might be having her baby as I type! How exciting!

tannyLoo · 04/03/2015 10:48

Sorry, wrong thread! Its still exciting though!

bambi07 · 04/03/2015 12:12

Thank you for all the advice everyone, I didn't breast feed last night and felt loads better, which is great I have Breast feeding support worker coming over now for advice but I'm trying to chill out.

Well she's been and the general consensus is I'm a bad mum! She was very critical, I'm not feeding her enough, iv given her formula and the sin of all sins, iv given her a dummy.

Firstly I tried to feed her more yesterday but she point blank refused, she even went 7 hours without food but had 5 poos and 3 wees, so I wasn't worried and when she does feed she has had 90ml when iv used a bottle and seems happy enough.

Iv topped up Breast milk with formula about 3 times and have expressed whenever she's fed. Boobs very full and leaky today.

Lastly she tries to latch on just for comfort and gets annoyed, the dummy works a real treat and she drops it after about 5 mins and I just take it away.

I told the lady, I have a very contented baby and I intend to be a very relaxed mummy, as long as she's healthy I'm not going to stress. All very helpful to a new mum.

Hope others are having more fun. Good luck again Tanny, I will be thinking dilating thoughts for you today, roll on baby. X

Can I pick your brains guys?

Just been for my first sweep. Cervix posterior as expected, but I'm fully effaced and midwife stretched me to 2-3 cm and could feel my waters bulging.

Any ideas if labour is imminent? I'm back for another one on Friday morning if nothing has happened by then. I don't understand what it all means Confused

bambi you sound like you're doing fab. As long as baby is fed then that's all that matters.

tannyLoo · 04/03/2015 13:35

Monkey that sounds similar to me! Great that you're fully effaced and the stretch should definitely help move things. I'm in early labour and have been since my sweep yesterday, but it's fine, things are gradually getting going and I've just had my show. My advice is to just carry on as normal for as long as possible and see what happens. And let us know, obviously!

tannyLoo · 04/03/2015 13:36

Bambi you sound like you're being sensible and pragmatic, with a happy baby. Well done! X

bambi07 · 04/03/2015 13:54

That is all sounding very promising Monkey and Tanny, everyone is doing so well. X

monkeyfacegrace · 04/03/2015 13:59

I just can't stop being a little pessimistic because I'm 37 weeks today. I reckon I've got another 5 weeks Angry

Keep going everybody else. It's easier to be positive towards other people+

missmakesstuff · 04/03/2015 16:20

monkey I definitely think I've got 5 weeks to go too. Going to start some projects, a quilt and some bags to go inside an existing bag for nappies etc. Hoping that will make time fly!
I'm so tired today, walked into town earlier and just felt like I was bursting for a pee walking around. Of course I wasn't, just the pressure of a head on my bladder..soo uncomfortable. I have no idea how I will cope when he's bigger and actually engaged!

monkeyfacegrace · 05/03/2015 18:19

How are things going tanny?

No movement here at all. Back in tomorrow at 9am for another sweep.

I've also noticed on my notes that baby is lying asynclytic anteriorally. Dr Google is not my friend Sad I'm just wondering what else is going to go against me now Sad

Hope everybody else is enjoying their squishy newborns not jealous at all, oh no not me

tannyLoo · 05/03/2015 18:33

After a couple of tiring days of contractions starting and stopping, they've more or less stopped. I had tons of show, which was really icky...

I tried to get them to move my sweep forward to this morning, but was told they only do them every 3 days without a Dr's approval. I'm in for my next one tomorrow too monkey so fingers crossed we both get some shifting....

monkeyfacegrace · 05/03/2015 18:34

How far gone are you Tanny? I've got a doctor note saying every 48 hours from 37 weeks.

Fingers crossed for us both tomorrow. I didn't even get a show after my first one on Weds so you're already doing better than me!

Are you dilated/effaced?

monkeyfacegrace · 05/03/2015 18:36

Sorry just put the effort into RTFT and you've already answered those questions Smile

missmakesstuff · 06/03/2015 09:38

I'm starting a quilttoday for the baby, hoping it will keep me busy whilst I wait..
did a 3.5 mile walk to pick dd up from school yesterday, was shattered but I'm thinking I can keep going with doing it at least 3 times a week, plus swimming every other day, it's all got to help! We are collecting the pool on Sunday and giving it a trial run with my doula, quite exciting, once it's here then we are all ready, just hoping I don't go too far over, they won't induce due to previous cs and I'm not having sweeps until at least 40+, although Will try some reflexology at around that time. Got chiropractic appointment next week too, in an effort to sort my rib pain out, with that and the pain in my groin things are feeling pretty uncomfortable now..
those of you who had sweeps, what did the midwife say about the chance of them doing anything? Mine said they'll only bring forward labour by about 24 hrs If it were going to happen anyway, so I'm not bothering, unless I get desperate after 40 ish weeks or am being threatened with booking for cs, mind you im not talking about that with them until I'm at least 42 weeks..

monkeyfacegrace · 06/03/2015 09:49

I'm back from a sweep this morning.

Had one on Weds at 37 weeks, today I'm 37+2.

Am now 5 cm dilated. Few niggle pains but not much else. Midwife has no idea what's actually keeping baby in.

I've called triage and they said that if I'm not contracting well by midday I can go in and they may break my waters.

missmakesstuff · 06/03/2015 09:55

Exciting monkey! Maybe get walking or bouncing on a birth ball?

monkeyfacegrace · 06/03/2015 10:19

Just walked the dog. Maybe even jogged about 30 yards around some of the field.

Now bouncing on ball.

I'm eyeing up a knitting needle and the trampoline.

COME ON BABY!

missmakesstuff · 06/03/2015 12:35

You need oxytocin...watch a funny film, get snuggled up and, apparently, orgasms...not necessarily sex will all help. Adrenaline will slow down contractions. I'm downloading funny films in readiness, although nothing happening here at all..
good luck!

monkeyfacegrace · 06/03/2015 13:07

Pah to orgasms, haven't had one of them for months Grin

I'm off into triage. Nothing happening at all so I'm going to ask them to break my waters. I bet they refuse. I'm going to cry.

monkeyfacegrace · 06/03/2015 20:34

I've had a baby in the last hour Grin

6lb 8oz, hurt like hell, but she is lushious (of course!)

Will update properly after DH gets back with my McDonald's and can take over with her Blush

Are you due in the next couple of weeks?
tannyLoo · 06/03/2015 20:42

My turn to be obscenely jealous! Biggest congratulations monkey that is fabulous news. I want details!

I had my second sweep at 40+3 and had a totally unchanged cervix and no progress since. I hate my body right now.

missmakesstuff · 06/03/2015 21:19

monkey that's fantastic, congratulations! I'm also jealous...
got horrendous back/rib ache, baby has been doing massive movements all afternoon and feels like he's trying to push himself out my belly button...
I'm hoping he's not moving cause he's been in a great position since 34 weeks and the worry of him turning breech is always at the back of my mind. Another scan Monday, fx they won't --make up-to-date- find something wrong to make things complicated, with my dd everything started to go wrong about now...

missmakesstuff · 09/03/2015 07:10

Have I killed the thread..?!

tannyLoo · 09/03/2015 07:48

Sorry, miss, I meant to update last night but was knackered! I think there are only a couple of us around though...

Bertie Lee was born on Saturday afternoon after a 4 hr labour in a birthing pool. We were allowed home that evening and are still settling into things.

Keep us posted about you though, and you're still on the stats on the pg after mc thread, so they will deffo want to hear how you're doing...
