Hi ladies,

Just wondering if anyone is due in the next couple of weeks and wants to keep a thread of how they're feeling, their daily struggles or keep updated with labour stories etc?!

I'm 38+0 and have been having niggles for a week or so. I have mild polyhydramnios and have been told to expect baby anytime soon, although some days I don't feel pregnant and feel I still have ages to go!

How're you feeling and have you had any signs that your LO will be making an appearance anytime soon?

Thanks Smile fingers crossed! Maybe tonight one of us will have our babies!

Just joining your thread! I'm due on Wednesday with DS2. I didn't need a sweep with DS1 (he was 11 days early) so am wondering what people's experiences of them are. Is it worse than being checked how dilated you are?

EmilyCHN · 09/02/2015 22:13

Just to say BabyCHN has arrived!! Waters went Sunday 10pm during Eddie Redmayne's acceptance speech, baby boy born 0637 9lbs11oz, no pain relief, 3 x small tears needed to be sutured under local afterwards.. All in all a rather eventful night :-) BabyCHN BF well and I'm a bit battered and bruised but he's here, he's healthy and I can't believe how it's all happened! Good luck ladies! May you deliveries be everything you hope for. X

Congratulations EmilyCHN! What great news! Nicely done.

Can't help but be a bit jealous, I want mine to come now too!

hazel88 · 09/02/2015 22:27

Congratulations! What a good weight!

Tmi, but anyone noticed increased discharge? Have noticed it last day or so & I'm now panicking incase it's my waters, apparently they can just trickle out. Have now put a pad on so I can see properly incase it's just urine (yuck)! No contractions or pains or anything so don't want to rush phoning the hospital yet.
Any advice would be great Grin

Cherryblossom200 · 09/02/2015 22:43

Awwww congratulations Emily! Flowers glad it happened naturally in the end for you! x

hazel88 · 09/02/2015 22:45

Mrs Corr I have! Mine defo isn't waters, just yucky discharge Confused I think it's a sign it's getting close...maybe?!

EmilyCHN well done!! Lovely birth weight! Take it easy and enjoy your newborn, they grow so quickly!

CherryBlossom and Hazel I've had several sweeps in the past, and I've not found it too painful just a lil odd n uncomfortable, with slight cramping n some bloody mucous afterwards, they've never worked for me till I've gone a day or so overdue as its when the cervix is ripe. It's worth a shot though.

Can't wait till Friday now, being induced!
Maybe a lil nervous actually even though its my 5th!! Lol.

Really hoping to sleep tonight, past 3 nights have been dreadful Sad I'm shattered.
Hope to hear more baby announcements soon!
Smile

MrsCorr · 09/02/2015 22:57

Hope it's a good sign for us both hazel88! Wink

Cherryblossom200 · 09/02/2015 23:04

Thanks Jodie! I will be 40 +1 when I have my sweep so maybe it might work but I'm anticipating going a week or so overdue.

And yes to the discharge Confused all pretty gross, but been having it for over a week now so thought things might be happening but no luck yet.

Zsazsabinks · 09/02/2015 23:10

Congrats CHN!

xx

Phantomteadrinker · 10/02/2015 06:16

Hello, can I please join you, 39+1 with dc3 and going slightly mad! Been losing plug for over a week and show since Sunday and all day yesterday. Was having regular contractions all afternoon yesterday which intensified all evening last night ....and then just stopped! A couple overnight but had expected to wake up in labour but nothing doing Confused. Dc1 & 2 were here by the point so really had expected to be done and dusted - this seems to be taking ages, feels like I've been in some kind of labour for days, anyone else feel like this - totally different from lady labour. Thoroughly fed up!

Phantomteadrinker · 10/02/2015 06:17

last not lady!

blankfornames · 10/02/2015 06:39

Ladies, I'll be 38+6 tomorrow and have been offered a sweep by my consultant.
What do you think I should do?

Cherryblossom200 · 10/02/2015 08:33

Blankfornames, my midwife said sweeps are less likely to work as your cervix isn't ready until after your due date. Maybe wait until you are 40 weeks which isn't long, you may even go into labour on your own before that point?

If you do go for the sweep good luck and let us know how it goes Smile x

blankfornames · 10/02/2015 09:13

Cherry, I think you might be right. I'm going for reflexology this morning so might get some insight into how 'ready' I am there.
Thanks for that!

Phantomteadrinker · 10/02/2015 09:15

Blank, is there a reason they've offered you an early sweep?

Cherryblossom200 · 10/02/2015 09:32

No worries Smile I have also heard if done a bit too early they are more painful all reasons for waiting just a little bit longer maybe. I'm having one tomorrow when will be 1 day overdue so will let you know if it hurts Confused

Zsazsabinks · 10/02/2015 12:40

Go for it blanks. Could do nothing but won't do any harm.

Just got back from mine and it was actually OK, a little bit worse than a smear but small fry compared with what's about to come!

Zsazsabinks · 10/02/2015 12:43

They probably aren't considering 38+6 as being particularly early.

Of course! I can't believe your waters have broken! How are you feeling, you must have had such a shock.

MrsCorr · 10/02/2015 13:42

I've got midwife tomorrow but have already been told I can't have a sweep until 40 weeks (2 days later) Hmm might not be able to have a sweep at all unless head engages because there is a risk of the cord coming down first. Fingers crossed this wee ones head is engaged tomorrow Grin would prefer things to happen on their own but will take all the help I can get!

Zsazsabinks · 10/02/2015 13:49

Is this your first baby Mrs Corr? Just wondering because my midwife said that it was fine even if baby's head isn't engaged because in women who have had babies before there isn't necessarily 'engagement' (is that how you say it?) until they're actually born?
