Hi ladies,

Just wondering if anyone is due in the next couple of weeks and wants to keep a thread of how they're feeling, their daily struggles or keep updated with labour stories etc?!

I'm 38+0 and have been having niggles for a week or so. I have mild polyhydramnios and have been told to expect baby anytime soon, although some days I don't feel pregnant and feel I still have ages to go!

How're you feeling and have you had any signs that your LO will be making an appearance anytime soon?

Morning ladies,
Can I hop in?! I'm 38+4. Been having lots of 'Fanny Daggers' over past while and been walking like John Wayne for ages now. I'm working the fit ball for all Im worth, DTD when I can muster up the energy but still no sign of baba! I had hot curries 4 times last week...nothing! I fear he/she is getting bigger by the day which is scaring me!!
Any other tips?!!

Cherryblossom200 · 09/02/2015 09:00

No sign for me yet! Due date tomorrow - what is DTD?? x

hazel88 · 09/02/2015 09:26

'doing the deed!' Cherry

Blank well if none of that has worked then perhaps there is no way of encouraging baby?! I've heard really long walks help if you have the energy

I'm going to try going for a long wall today, hopefully get things going. Not due until Friday & I'm happy for the baby to stay in for now. But I need the texts and phone calls from family & friends to stop! I will let them know when anything happens, don't need them asking all the bloody time lol! Makes it feel like time is dragging in when I have to keep saying, no signs yet, not even reached my due date yet, etc. Anyone else found this?

Cherryblossom200 · 09/02/2015 09:51

Ahhhh Grin thanks Hazel! x

hazel88 · 09/02/2015 09:56

Oh my mother has been phoning every single day and if she doesn't get through to me she starts on DH. It's probably because first time I didn't tell her I was in labour but she managed to find out and then the next time I fibbed about my due date (put it a bit later). Sounds awful of me but we don't get on particularly well and she has a habit of speaking for me and 'announcing' things which I just don't like.

I was trying to make DH build an app yesterday for my facebook where you could have two screens, first says "Is the baby here yet" then you click a button and it takes you to a second screen that says "NO!" That way people don't have to text me!

I know family do it because they care, but it does make you feel completely hopeless!

Zsazsabinks · 09/02/2015 10:15

I suppose there could be another screen that you fill in when the baby actually comes with a photo of the baby, name and weight. Then people wouldn't need to phone!

lazzzyg · 09/02/2015 10:45

Zsas maybe direct them to this link: www.haveyouhadthatbabyyet.com/ and see if that shuts them up!

Hello all I think I'll join you ladies if you don't mind. I'm 37+1 and ready to be done at this stage. Uncomfy, unable to sleep and I feel like the size of a small car! Come on baby!

blankfornames · 09/02/2015 11:29

Hazel, walked the legs off myself up and down hills and stairs yday..Beanster still content in there.
I had lots of 'downstairs' pressure but that's gone today. Quite disappointed as I thought that might have been shaping up!

hazel88 · 09/02/2015 12:07

Oh no! Stubborn babies!

Just took the dog and DD2 on a walk, bless her tiny little legs she went all the way round until the end but walk was sooooo slooooooww that i don't think it will have achieved anything baby entry-wise!

Blank, baby can move up and down and up and down so don't worry!

My parents are so excited for first grandchild to arrive, but I'm getting bored of having the same phone conversation with my mum each evening now: "no, nothing's happened today, no my waters haven't gone, no I'm not having any twinges (slight lie but I don't want to encourage her!), no you don't need to tell me about how my sister and I were born again, I remember it from last time you told me...." sigh! Aaaaah she can't help being excited I suppose!

hazel88 · 09/02/2015 15:25

Does anyone know if you're able to take a hot water bottle in to Hospital?! I used one for the first time the other day when I was feeling niggly and it worked wonders.

Zsazsabinks · 09/02/2015 16:10

I think I did with one of them. In Brighton. Don't know if you'll be able to use it on the ward, just because it might not be the safest thing to have around a newborn and might be tricky to get someone to fill it up. I'm sure you could have one if it helps with contractions/labour in some way.

Cherryblossom200 · 09/02/2015 17:07

Just got back from midwife appointment and the baby is fully engaged now! I'm hopefully having a sweep on Wednesday but slightly scared Confused I know they can hurt! But I'm so fed up now I'll try anything. They offered me one today, but I got so freaked out I said no ha! I didn't feel mentally ready, sounds nuts I know Blush

FeatherFeather11 · 09/02/2015 17:16

Hi all! I'm still here and no sign of baby. 40+4 now. Cherry - I'm seeing my midwife on Wednesday too - I chickened out of a sweep last Friday, but will take her up on it this week I think...

And yes! The bloody phones calls and texts! All well meaning, but geez!!!

Cherryblossom200 · 09/02/2015 17:18

Glad it's not just me Feather! They completely surprised me when they asked if I wanted a sweep, and just don't feel ready for it yet. I prefer to plan things a bit which I guess you can't really do when it comes to going into labour Grin

Zsazsabinks · 09/02/2015 17:25

I can have one tomorrow and I'm a bit freaked out by the idea of getting it all out when I'm not in labour....I'll have my DD2 with me too. Especially because it's the community midwife who has done all of my antenatal appointments. She's met my children and my husband, been to my home, chatted and now I'm going to get it all out in front of her?!?!?!?!?

Zsazsabinks · 09/02/2015 17:25

(If I went into labour tonight of course...but nothing doing there so....)

hazel88 · 09/02/2015 18:46

Wow all these sweeps how exciting! I know I would have said no too with it being sprung on me like that despite me moaning that I just want baby here now haha. I too like to plan ahead, and when I thought I was having a contraction earlier I thought 'no no I'm not ready yet!' Hope all comes on nicely asap for you ladies and the sweeps aren't needed!

Cherryblossom200 · 09/02/2015 19:59

Hazel I honestly was like a deer in the headlights when they said I could have one. I literally almost ran out of the hospital thinking to myself 'I'm not ready, I'm not ready!!' I'm actually really scared of having a sweep because I've heard they can be really painful. At least by Wednesday I will be psyched myself up for it Confused

hazel88 · 09/02/2015 20:19

I read that you should expect 'mild discomfort' during a sweep, but not pain. I expect it's every person's different perception of pain, and some may only feel pain for a particular reason. Try not to get yourself worked up over it, although it's a scary thought that you're actively encouraging labour it is inevitable and just imagine how much better you'll feel once your baby is here!! The sooner you get the ball rolling the sooner your bundle of joy will be here and you won't be feeling all 'pregnant' anymore Grin excited for you!
