Hi ladies,

Just wondering if anyone is due in the next couple of weeks and wants to keep a thread of how they're feeling, their daily struggles or keep updated with labour stories etc?!

I'm 38+0 and have been having niggles for a week or so. I have mild polyhydramnios and have been told to expect baby anytime soon, although some days I don't feel pregnant and feel I still have ages to go!

How're you feeling and have you had any signs that your LO will be making an appearance anytime soon?

Thanks Hazel Smile I hope so! x

If you can, take my MW's advice and try nooki and lots of it! She listed the benefits of it and what did seem like a tiresome and non-enjoyable exercise has suddenly become very appealing haha

Hi Hazel, yes that's pretty much it. If you're booked in for an induction they don't just stick you on the drip, they start with a sweep, monitor you, try a pessaries, monitor you, if contractions become regular they'll take you down. If not they might try again, or they might just take you down anyway and start with the drip. For me they have asked me to come in about 4pm, and if they can't trigger labour they'll put the drip in the following morning.

What actually happened with DD was I went in Saturday and it started to snow so they didn't have many midwives and in the end I didn't get to delivery suite until 1am Monday morning. It was a bit dull hanging around but no other problems.

I'm 37+3. feeling v ropey today. Also I feel lots of pain right down low I can't describe where exactly (cervix?) but stabbing/stretching. Maybe the fanny daggers discussed below.
At my 38 weeks appointment would my midwife check to see how dilated I am, would it be worth it, or is it unusual to ask.?
I'm feeling like I could be dilating.
As I was stuck at 4cm last time with strong contractions for days I feel like if I found out I was a little dilated it would make me feel relaxed.
I don't know how i Will find energy to labour I'm begging my 2 yo to nap, so I can. I'm absolutely zonked and feel sick too.

hazel88 · 11/02/2015 15:58

You could always speak to your MW, there's no harm in asking. Sorry to hear you're feeling rough, try and take it easy if possible and maybe try a warm bath or shower and rest up Thanks

Good luck cherry! Grin

Thank you all. Feeling a lot better now. Have dull cramps though. I'm
Wondering if this is from using clary sage in bath lady night.
Hope all of you are feeling ok in the last weeks

Good news here, midwife checked today & baby is 4/5ths engaged! Still some movement but head is no longer free. Have booked a sweep for next Wednesday & if baby hasn't arrived by then will book an induction then. Means baby will be here 2 weeks today at the latest Smile

Got admitted last night with a small bleed, kept in for observation, started contracting a bit but not much, and just been examined: 3-4cm so had a stretch and sweep and they think baby will be with us tonight or tomorrow! Is it too late to change my mind?! Good luck to everyone else who is niggling away, bring on the babies!

hazel88 · 11/02/2015 17:18

Oh wow fishcake!! Hope all goes well for you Thanks

I'm feeling left out...c'mon baby!!

Zsazsabinks · 11/02/2015 18:35

Ooooh, that sounds promising fishcake, maybe there'll be two babies born tonight now!

Cherryblossom200 · 11/02/2015 18:36

My waters have gone and having regular contractions which are completely bare able at the mo. Staying in for a little bit to see if I go into established labour. If not will be induced tomorrow if it doesn't happen tonight!

Bloody scared now it's all happening! I was skeptical if the sweep would work but pretty much worked straight away! Shock

Zsazsabinks · 11/02/2015 19:01

Ooooooh! Well if you're having regular contractions AND your waters have gone then fingers crossed you're in business! So exciting!

OP posts:
Zsazsabinks · 11/02/2015 21:44

Yes, fingers crossed that means everything's going the right way!

Cherryblossom200 · 11/02/2015 22:03

I'm home again now grrrr! Contractions slowed down when I lay down and stopped so they sent me home. They are slowly starting up again now I'm home again ha! So annoying. It's all a very frustrating process this birth malarkey!!

I'm booked in for an induction tomorrow at 4.00 because my waters have gone but they are hoping I go into established labour on my own.

Contractions are very odd Confused I didn't have Braxton hicks and nothing to compare it to. But when your whole tummy goes hard it's a very strange feeling!

Anyway hopefully something will happen before 4.00 tomorrow afternoon because I don't want an induction Sad means I won't get my water birth!

Hope you ladies are all doing well Smile thanks for thinking of me xx

hazel88 · 11/02/2015 22:10

Aww no home again?! Sods law that the contractions are starting up again! Good sign though. Have the contractions been painful? You must be fed up already!

OP posts:
Cherryblossom200 · 11/02/2015 22:27

I was being monitored for 30 mins and the midwife was surprised that I had such regular contractions so early on, but I didn't feel anything but tightenings. Then an hour or so later things start to get more painful like very bad period pains and pains in the bum coupled with back pain too. This is only the start of it Confused one weird thing that happened was my legs started shaking, apparently it's a surge of adrenaline, lovely stuff!

I'm in bed now and about to try and get some sleep! I'm exhausted now.

xx
