Absolutely LOVE the name Lola but its my dogs name - considered changing the dogs name but we've had her 8 years and we keep forgetting to use another name!! DH likes Esme but i'm not entirely convinced, quite like Lyla as its similar to Lola but i'm going round in circles and getting nowhere fast. DH chose my DD's name so i want to choose this one!! Considered Lolita so i can shorten it to Lola after my dog has popped his clogs but my mum nearly fainted when i mentioned Lolita!!!

Any suggestions or views on any of the above? I actually cannot get anywhere with this muddle of names and can't seem to find any new ones either - my brain is like jelly at the mo!

We know a Layla, Lana and Lilah which are sort of similar to Lola HTH xx

Tinasan · 14/09/2006 13:04

Hi Lolabelle,

I think Esme is lovely! But on your Lola theme, how about Lila, Lily, Lydia, Layla?

Good luck in choosing (I'm having similar problems)

or just call her Lola anyway - I bet you'll remember to call the dog something else once they're home together...

LIZS · 14/09/2006 13:09

Leila/Layla, Laura, Laurel, Laurie

Piffle · 14/09/2006 13:11

I know a gorgeous Lyra and a gorgeous Lola
DD wants to name our new baby (due in March) Lola or Maisie

JoPG · 14/09/2006 13:12

We had the same problem when DS1 was born. We really liked Harry, but our cat was already called Harry (we got her from the Cats Protection League and she already had that name, didn't wnat to change it). Sorry, no other advice on names though, it's a very personal choice.

Lotta is nice

i know a Saskia

I LOVE girls names, its so hard to choose

I have a Melanie and a Kirstie

Lolabelle · 14/09/2006 13:17

Lucie is my DH's ex so no for that one! I know 2 Lilys so no to that one - like Lila, Esme is growing on me and love Lola! Tried calling the dog J-Lo actually as thenew name (don't ask why) but family know my dog really well as does DD so could get confusing but in 10 years time i doubt it'll even be a slight issue but DH has issues now with naming our second daughter after the dog!!

Estee is sweet - god this is hard, do you hink people would think of Kate Moss everytime i said Lila?? Better to be associated with Kate Moss than mongrel though i guess??!

or Charlotte and call her Lola?

I'm just imagining a post from someone on here saying 'my dd is 15 years old and I still wish I'd called her Lola, it was what I really wanted but at the time we had a dog called that' etc.

I suppose I can also imagine a thread with a title 'my mum named me after a dog'...

TBH you can't please anyone but yourself with names!

Tommy · 14/09/2006 13:18

I like Lotta - then you could have the Lola "theme" anyway!
Please not Lolita.....

Lilia ?

Lolabelle · 14/09/2006 13:18

Is Lolita really badthen??! Quite liked it in an odd way but realise dodgy film with dodgy plot puts people off it!

Lottie?

LIZS · 14/09/2006 13:20

Wasn't Lolita a fictitious child prostitute ? tbh I woudln't want to grow up thinking I'd been named after a pet !
