Thanks eyelash - that's really helpful. I am 35.

florenceuk · 30/03/2004 13:16

Hi everyone

Well good news is that sickness has subsided to "just" nausea with only occasional retch - here's hoping it's gone forever soon. Everything still tastes weird though and I am still not eating normally - still feel like I have my stomach too close to my throat IYKWIM. Still very tired, good that DS still naps in the afternoon as I have one as well then.

BTW I am 38 (oldie) and already have one DS who is 2yrs3mths.

beansprout · 30/03/2004 15:04

Thanks for putting the list together Eyelash.

Have just got back from booking appt. Everything is fine, slight revision to dates and am 12+2, not 11+6 as I thought, so due date is now 5th October. I am 34 btw.

Possibly the most exciting thing though is that the sickness seems to be going for me too. Blessed relief!

Hope everyone else is ok too xxx

geogteach · 30/03/2004 16:34

Well done eyelash. I'm 33 DS1 is nearly 3 DD is 10 months.
I've kept a bit quiet as everyone else seemed to be having a rough time and apart from being spotty I was beginning to wonder if i'd made all this up! Well had the scan this morning and its definately there! Told a friend afterwards who thinks i'm mad but was pleased, just everyone else (including family and work) to go then!
I start back at work on Monday after my maternity leave which makes it even weirder - I think i'll save telling them until after the easter holidays.

Turtle35 · 30/03/2004 20:00

Eyelash thanks for doing that, it's really helpful, my nickname was Neuman which is my surname (not very imaginative) and then decided to use a nickname my sister use to call me. I am 35! Yikes and this is my first child. DD 26 Oct.

Beansprout congrats on the new date, how great being further along than what you expected!! Lucky thing. By the way my GP gave me lactose (sugary drink) for constipation as it's ok for pregnancy. I hope it works!!?? Sickness also seems a bit better this week so fingers crossed it's on its way. Hope everyone else is feeling well.

piglit · 30/03/2004 20:10

I made the mistake of getting too tired this week. I have had a really hectic week with a couple of late nights and my sickness and nausea are back with a vengence today. I even heaved when I popped into Tesco at lunchtime. Nice.

eyelash · 30/03/2004 23:23

A new and updated list ladies.

Eyelash (age 36) - 30 September (but always very late). DS1 4 and ds2 21 months
Beansprout (age 34) - 5 October first pregnancy Piglit (age 35) - 6th October First pregnancy
geoteach (age 33) - 7th October ds1 3 dd 10 months
Toots (age 37)- 8th October dd1 2
florenceuk (age 38) - due 15 October ds 2
Debra64 (age 40?) - 20th October dd 7 ds1 6 ds2 4
Miffy2 - 20th October dd 5 ds2 2
Harman (age 34) - 22nd October dd1 6 ds2 3 dd2 2
Turtle35 (age 35)- due 26 October first pregnancy

geoteach - how great to be going back to work to tell them you are going off again - are you nervous. I too have lots of spots especially on my back.

Good tip re the constipation. I hope it works for you.

I may be going mad but I am sure I felt fluttering this afternoon at work. I thought I felt some last week when I was lying down but I am probably imagining it. They do say you can feel it earlier in subsequent pregnancies but surely this is too early. Probably wind!

Hope everybody is well.

Toots · 31/03/2004 13:01

Eyelash, feel like I'm feeling fluttering too.

So glad most people's sickness is abating.

Piglit, poor you. It's so easy to overdo it. I remember from last time that every time I had a good day and did loads, it would be followed by a really knackered one. Some connection there I feel.

I've finally made an osteopath appointment for this morning. My back has been giving me lots of trouble for about ten days, but because it always felt so much better first thing in the morning, I haven't acted on it.

I'm having a miserable time with DD. She's normally very responsive and basically, a good girl. She's really been ram-rodding her boundaries though. And what with the bad back and feeling so tired...well you can guess. I am very easily irritated and we are getting very snippy with each other. I've done a few 'just this once can't hurts' and let her get away with things I wouldn't normally - fatal! Going to make a real effort to get back on top of things this weekend. I swear this morning is the last time ( for a while anyway) that I stand behind her miming the knife scene from Psycho Feel better for deciding things are going to improve from today. Sure that getting something done about my back will help.

piglit · 31/03/2004 14:24

Toots - LOL at knife scene from Psycho!!

I had my nuchal scan today - risk has gone from 1 in 200 to 1 in 1663. Thrilled to bits. We have pictures too - I know they are grainy but you can definitely see arms and legs and eyes, nose and mouth. I laughed when I was having the scan and the baby did somersaults - amazing.

I'm going to have a chocolate biscuit to celebrate.

Hope everyone is feeling ok today.

Toots · 31/03/2004 14:40

Piglit! Must crack open a couple of (banned)choccy eggs to eat to your good health.

Really pleased you had such a good experience. Very jealous of your risk adjustment.

florenceuk · 31/03/2004 15:00

Congrats on the scan Piglit! Yes they do seem to move around, don't they? I am convinced I feel fluttering as well, but wondered if it was just cramps.

Went to bed at 9pm last night as was so tired, plus threw up dinner - the first for two days! Another yuck tube trip today - ugh. But have consumed one apricot Danish, one cup-a-soup and some weird health drink and now just feeling bloated. Trying to concentrate on obscure government accounting algebra at the moment which is a lost cause...I want to be able to eat chocolate! It's not fair!

beansprout · 31/03/2004 16:50

Big hugs to those of you who are still suffering (and that seems to be the word) with sickness. Mine is getting a tad better but I really feel for those of you who are actually throwing up.

Toots - I still find pulling faces etc at dp and his daughter very therapeutic, when the situation calls for it. Hope you are having a better day.

Piglit - your scan sounds fab!! Great news about the nuchal fold too. Bean wouldn't move when being scanned yesterday so I had to go and drink 4 cups of cold water. He was a lot livelier second time 'round, but as dp said, the little one probably thought he was auditioning for Titanic or something!!

Turtle35 · 31/03/2004 18:51

Piglet - fantastic news on the scan you must be so pleased. My sickness came back this morning but I think it was because I went to bed late (10.00) and didn't sleep well. I am getting roughly 10 hours a night but waking up still feeling exhausted! The only thing that makes me feel better is eating! I have now gained 7 lbs, I know I shouldn't get to hung up on it but all of my trousers are too tight! Will have to do some shopping this weekend!!Yippee

piglit · 31/03/2004 18:58

Turtle - I can really recommend the Next maternity trousers. I'm still (just) in my "normal" clothes but I bought a couple of pairs of maternity trousers so that when I pop out of these I'll have something to wear. They are a little bit big round the waist (well, they were last weekend...) but sooooo comfy and smart for work too.

beansprout · 31/03/2004 20:04

Oooh, thanks for the clothing tips, and for talking about clothing!! I have got it into my head that I shouldn't buy anything yet, and yet am sitting here with the zip on my skirt only half done up!!

According to the medics I have already put on five kilos (say it isn't so ), so my clothes not fitting me is hardly going to make me feel better.

Now, where is my nearest Next? Have friends who swear by (and look good by) H&M too.

piglit · 31/03/2004 20:08

beansprout - I got mine from next directory. I ordered them on Friday through the website and they arrived on Saturday morning. Easy peasy.

They also send you a fabby catalogue a few days later which is stuffed full of maternity clothes. I'm going to have a really good look (and spend) this weekend.

piglit · 31/03/2004 20:29

harman - what a bummer. Why do people do that? It's so unfair.

beansprout · 31/03/2004 20:31

Oh Harman, that's miserable. I told someone here yesterday and then, when everyone was present later on (someone's leaving speech) she said "oh, I'm so excited for you.... I just love babies".

So that's my workplace done then.

Piglit, I think I may do the same. Penny has just dropped for moose brain here that, hey, there isn't actually much point in going to the shops and trying them on to see if they fit!! You can tell it's my first!

motherinferior · 31/03/2004 22:10

Also try Blooming Marvellous (variable though) and Jojo Maman Bebe (ditto but I did get my fabulous black PVC maternity trousers there).

eyelash · 01/04/2004 00:44

Next have some great clothes as do H&M. Also managed to find lovely white linen trousers in dp (for holidays later on). The bargain at next have to be the lovely stretchy ones I bought - £15 really comfy and they hang really well. Enjoy your shopping.

I was wondering about crossfingers - could she have been a November bod?

OP posts:
Turtle35 · 02/04/2004 14:23

I never knew Next did mat wear!! Ok so I am off shopping but don't know where the nearest Next is? Does anyone know if there is one in Richmond? Was also going to try Bloomin Marvelous? Not sure where that is either, will try to search on google. By the way, I know this isn't pleasant but my life has changed since my dr prescribed the Lactulose for consitpation, I don't know why so many pregnant woman suffer for months, as I did, when there is something out there that is safe for the baby. I feel so much lighter now, although the scale is implying I have gained another pound!! It's inevitable.

I have a wedding this Friday and have decided instead of trying to hide the bump which is so obvious now, that I don't care if people just think I am fat or might guess.

Hope everyone is feeling well and I will report back if I find any great maternity wear.

Turtle35 · 02/04/2004 15:03

Touching Story

Not sure if anyone has the Sunday Observer Magazine, but there is a wonderful article called, Sweet Child Of Mine, it's about a premature baby, made me cry but it's worth reading, it ends well.

Diddums · 02/04/2004 22:36

Thanks everyone for all your thoughts etc and all your advice especially bunny2. I am okay apart from this week someone at work told everyone that she is six weeks pregnant, I know she is excited but that didn't help. I am getting my bloods tested by the doctor who has been extremely supportive as she always is. I will keep in touch and let you all know how it's going.
Love to everyone Diddums

Turtle35 · 03/04/2004 00:08

Diddums, I have been thinking of you and hope you are OK? That must of really hurt hearing someone else at work announcing a pregnancy - at such an early stage - very brave. Please do keep in touch and let us know the outcome of the bloods. All the best to you and a very big hug.
