Hi - sorry to gatecrash your thread. I think i might be having an october one but have not even confirmed it yet! It is mad I know but i did a home test and it was not clear to me at all if it was possitive it was too faint. I have rang the doctor and will be going in with a sample on Monday.

Apart from the breast tenderness and a bigger belly I have no other symptoms. I have had one child so you'll think I should know better. I think I am scared to find out for sure.

I have definitely not had a period since Jan ending even though my periods have been eratic since coming off the pill.

beansprout · 07/04/2004 16:59

Hi aku! Not gatecrashing at all - sounds like you are in the right place! Good luck for Monday, hope it all goes well.

Harman - can definitely feel a firmer bump lower down. I won't notice any change in it though as I never leave it long enough inbetween inspections for it to have really changed! Agree with Piglit on the scan front though, would be great if you could have that reassurance, it's the very least someone could give you at the moment?

geogteach · 07/04/2004 18:34

Hi
Just finished first week back at work - very hard to take it seriously when I know i''ll be going again! Haven't told them yet but have finally told parents and a couple of friends who are suprised but happy. Hoping clothes don't get tight too soon , haven't told friend who's got all my maternity stuff as she only had the baby last week and I don't want her to feel under pressure to give them back. Finally managed to have my booking in bloods taken this week - had to see a phlebotomist (how do you spell that?) - time to see midwife for results soon, am I the only one who thinks the pregnancy is going fast?

Toots · 08/04/2004 17:18

hi Aku!

Had real preggie episode on Thursday. Lost car key 'somewhere in house' and puked up behind sofa on old baby mat and cushion whilst looking for it there. Nice. DP found key later in big bin in front garden, I had thrown it away with a load of pizza leaflets. He's very good at working out how my mind works.

Had scan yesterday. Everything fiiiiiine. Such a relief. DD on other side of bed to the screen being a little poppety thing, hugging my hand and sucking my finger (!). Meant I couldn't really gawp at the screen as kept wanting to smile at her. The split loyalty thing starts early, huh?

scruff · 09/04/2004 21:26

Does anyone know any thing that's safe to take for constipation during pregnancy. Tried Fybogel and it's coming straight back up again!!!!!!!!!!

Toots · 10/04/2004 00:26

Lactulose? Know it's safe, but think you might need a scrip. Sorry to hear you're suffering Scruff.

Toots · 10/04/2004 00:27

Come on everyone, want to hear your news. Hurry up and get to work or wherever it is you post from.

beansprout · 10/04/2004 01:09

Hi! Toots, loved your keys story! My brain is (not) working in a similar way at the moment. Actually went out and left the iron on today, something I have always considered criminal. Doh!

Went mat. clothes shopping today, to Brent Cross (big shopping centre). Not a one item of maternity gear in the whole place, apart from Mothercare (possibly some of the worst clothes I have ever seen). Got v depressed at all the nice clothes that there is just NO POINT WHATSOEVER in me buying. Did get a couple of bras.... put it this way, we don't get pg for the underwear, do we?

Came home and burst into tears, saying "it's all moose discrimination out there", but did manage to get over myself with the help of a nice bagel. Feeling better now. Just wait until I have to dress for work though.... boo.

Good luck for tomorrow Aku. Let us know how you get on?
And sorry, no suggestions on the constipation front. I keep eating prunes like they are going out of fashion (so far so good).

Turtle35 · 10/04/2004 17:16

Scruff I got Lactulose from my GP and it works!! you do need a prescription though.

Bean - try Isabella Oliver, it's on-line essential mat clothes, just got some goodies today and will be trying them on tonight!! Also Blooming Marevelous is pretty good, there is one in Richmond - they do fab g-string for pregers which are really comfy and some decent looking shirts for work and skirts.

Feeling pretty good today, my tiredness seems to be easing off as does the nausea - thank God!

Had a wedding in Dublin this weekend which I must admit I struggled, it was very hard staying sober when everyone else was off their trolly! it got very tedious.

I had to laugh below on the pot bellie stories, I thought I was the queen of pot bellies and now it's seems to have doubled in size!! I measured myself this am, bust, legs, waist and arms. I have a feeling I may regret doing that in a couple of months.

Hope everyone is feeling chipper and happy.

aku · 11/04/2004 11:30

Hi everyone - just taking things in stride. Waiting for results. I am cool with it all. My instincts say there is an litle one on the way, if not not I'll like to know what is! Good day all!

piglit · 11/04/2004 12:25

Glad to hear about your scan harman.

My bf was really off with me when I told her. She doesn't want kids so it's not as if she's been trying without success or anything. I cried my eyes out about it but as my dh says "sod her". I've barely spoken to her since and although I'm sure things will be fine between us eventually I'm not going to get in touch with her whilst I'm still upset about it. I'd advise you to take the "sod the lot of you" approach with anyone that upsets you. You don't need that stress right now.

Turtle35 · 11/04/2004 13:48

Harman congrats on moving your scan forward. I agree with Piglit, if they can't be happy for you then tell them to go stick it! People are weird, I can't imagine anyone not being happy about a baby. I have my scan a week today and feel nervous/excited. I had really weird dreams about the scan last night - felt upset when I woke up.

piglit · 11/04/2004 18:59

Having a very embarrassing trouser episode today. My bump must have grown since I last wore these trousers last week. My zip keeps coming undone, especially when I sit down/stand up. I'm constantly checking myself and I'm sure that looks odd.

Is anyone else getting twinges and funny sensations very low down in their belly? I was getting a bit panicky but wondered if it might be my muscles and ligaments stretching with my tum.

14 weeks tomorrow and looking forward to some blooming. Ha ha.

Hope everyone is well.

beansprout · 11/04/2004 19:15

Piglit, I had the same twinges over the weekend, which were actually pretty painful, but they seem to have stopped now. I assumed the same as you, that things are just adjusting.

Good news about scan date Harman as I know you really wanted it brought forward. Good luck to everyone else with scans too

If someone isn't happy for us - that's with them. If someone has been trying, has m/c, or, as with dp's family, has just been through cot death, that is, of course, very different indeed. But all those MILs who are just being odd - no way (in a Ricki Lake sty-lie) "tell it to the hand, lady!!".

All of that said, have had a sick, tearful day today - bring on the blooming!!

Turtle35 · 11/04/2004 19:36

Piglit you are going to have to face the facts and go shopping!! It's a real struggle to get into any of my pre-pregnancy clothes now.

I am so fed up with lying to our friends as to why we aren't out socializing with them, can't wait to tell the world "I AM PREGNANT". Next Tuesday the big day.

piglit · 11/04/2004 19:50

Unfortunately when I mentioned pg clothes to my mum she said "oh, I didn't need maternity clothes until I was 6 months with you". Aaarghh...

You are right Turtle, time to succumb to lovely comfy pg trousers methinks.

beansprout · 11/04/2004 19:53

I did try on a pair of mat jeans at the weekend that someone has kindly let me borrow and I have to say, the blessed relief of putting on an item of clothing that fits... ah bliss. Highly recommended.

Mat clothes these days are designed to fit from quite early on aren't they? It's the trousers/skirts that are the thing for us know I think, can make do with pre-pg tops for a little bit. I might get a nice billowing dress with some really big bows and a sailor collar - anyone join me?

piglit · 11/04/2004 19:56

Oooh, yes please beansprout. I'll look superb in one of those. Not.

beansprout · 11/04/2004 20:04

Excellent, will get a job lot and send them off to you all. No worries about sizes, they only come in XXXL anyway.

How are our bumps? Mine is ok when I leave the house and enormous when I get home. I got a bit moody with someone at work today who was talking about my pg a bit loudly, as I feel I would like to announce it in my own time. Then went to the toilet and could just see this unmistakeable belly hanging out of my skirt - doh!!

piglit · 11/04/2004 20:09

That's the same as me beansprout. I leave the house my (almost) normal self and come home with a bump (and my zip undone).

Chocotrain · 11/04/2004 22:12

Hi,

can I join the party? Let me see if I can get the hang of these abbreviations.

I'm 38, - 23rd October; ds1 6.

Only read about the site on Sunday - where have I been?

Glad to hear that some of the sickness is wearing off - gives me hope! I was sick for 16 wks last time. This time it just feels like I've got a permanent indigestable lump at the top of my stomach.

Anyone else unable to eat chocolate? First time in my life I've gone more than a day without it - its been six weeks now, ds is eyeing up my easter egg.

My scan is next week which seems at 13 wks a bit later than normal? Is there a mini baby boom going on? Bit nervous this time because of age.

Haven't got a problem with clothes yet - I've always had a bit of a pot belly. Can highly recommend www.Formes.com for smart maternity clothes - there is a shop in Guildford, or you can order online.

Jx

Toots · 11/04/2004 23:51

Welcome Chocotrain! So let's see, you've gone off chocolate......how are you feeling about trains? Normally go on one a day, but haven't been on one for six weeks....? I'm just guessin'.
Choc - am 37, normally pot-bellied and had my scan on Friday at 13+1 weeks.

Beansprout - NEVER LOOK AT THE MAT CLOTHES IN MOTHERCARE AGAIN, EVER. They are bad. Move away. Naughty clothes, go to your room. I'm really sorry you had to suffer their awfulness. Now listen to me. Go as immediately as possible to H&M at Marble Arch. If I am right you will find upwards of several items of happy making, reasonably priced clothing, of possible dubious quality. If I am wrong, come to my house and pelt me with rice crispies (if you think you're hard enough).

This is what I got in H&M today.

black short sleeved t-shirt £5.99
black linen mix sleeveless Audrey Hepburny dress
with little bow at bust £24.99
black spaghetti strap top, elastic ruched to under bust then nice and flowy to hips £9.99
slightly mad art student velvety patterned combat style trews £7.99 reduced from £20 odd.

A roaring success. The dress, t-shirt and ruched top come in colours other than black - dress: red. Ruched- I think blue and pink T-shirt - lots.

Also noted for your good self that they had some work wear which look OK, but I work in my own home, so can look like mad trollop, like yesterday in purple dressing gown with green and white striped belt from other towelling bath robe. Am wildly chatty tonight! Had my least tired day yet and have had half a glass of red wine.

Look forward to more tales of zip malfunction tomorrow.

beansprout · 12/04/2004 00:24

Chocotrain - welcome!! Have been off chocolate myself lately, but hope that normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

Lol Toots!! And will go henceforth to H&M and do as you suggest, if not before, then certainly by the weekend. Thank you for restoring my hope. Brent Cross is a God foresaken souless place though - what was I thinking?!

May need to borrow your dressing gown combo though, as have been acting like a mad hormonal trollop today, so the appropriate dress may be useful as it would at least give unsuspecting people some warning....

Aku - any results yet?!

piglit · 12/04/2004 12:07

Welcome Chocotrain! I can still eat huge amounts of chocolate (phew). I've gone right off meat though.

I moved from London to the South West at the end of last year and can't quite get my head around the lack of shops. Might check out H&M online if such a thing exists.
