Hmm don't know whether to just stick with what I'm given really. At least it'll be bigger by then and I have already had an early scan at 7 weeks, which measure 6 weeks. Think they're pretty jam packed at mo.

Speaking of doughnuts I had a jam one, a flap jack, an iced cake and a cornetto today and only a banana as the good stuff!! Jeez that's bad!! Glad I'm not the only one getting stuck into the bad stuff!!

EDD of 3rd Feb 2015 Shock. Though obvs that may change next week at scan! Mine will be a week early than yours Bushy and Feather, so I will report back thoroughly!

It is interesting what you say about eating foods you haven't since you were a kid. I totally find I'm eating what I did when I was about 11 - pasta and carbs, cheese inc strong stuff, fruit, some meat, but noooo fish or veggies. Also want ice in my drinks like when I was little. Weird, eh?

Oooh, bunny! 28 weeks! Boo to holes in the arm.

The EDD on my letter from yesterday's harmony test is 5 Feb 2015. It said that I was 10w +5 according to the sizing of the bean, which is what I thought I was according to my ovulation date. No point in counting from first day of my last period as my cycles were so ridiculously long. Gosh rp, that means we're literally days apart.

bushy iced cake! Yum! I want that now. LOL at "now the old legs" - made me snort out loud.

rp good point! It is weird - palates returning to childhood. I could murder a trifle right now.

I've had an awful headache since yesterday that I can't seem to shake. I'm hydrated, and took paracetomol yesterday and it didn't touch the sides. Not taken anything today but it's getting worse. Urgh!

Eurgh nasty. Pg headaches are A Thing apparently. I have awful hayfever and can't take my trusty loratadine because it's not safe. I spend working days alternately puking as quietly as possible or spotting all over colleagues in meetings. Tres professionelle...

Bushy, you do need a full bladder for your scan but I would definitely recommend not going overboard as it can feel quite uncomfy if you're waiting for a while or if they have to push the probe firmly against the lower abdomen to get the images they need. My scan letter said comfortably full bladder (and no fizzy drinks) which seemed more manageable than a whole litre!

Pregnancy headaches are horrible - I had them about the end of the first trimester but they did go away fairly soon.

Report
winohhh · 16/07/2014 23:09

If I had a whole litre, I'm not sure I could wait an hour before going to the loo! I've drank far less than that before scans and been told my bladder looked nice and full. I'd recommend not drinking hot chocolate! The sugar meant the little bean was dancing all over the place! Not good for getting measurements!

I'm freakinv out a bit about the harmony results and scan on Monday. It feels a bit like the final hurdle to get over. Although in reality, I imagine it just brings more hurdles into view!

Report
FeatherFeather11 · 17/07/2014 11:24

Oh, win, please try not to freak. You've a few days to go and they would have called you by now if they wanted to see you earlier. Everything will be fine! Totally understand why you are feeling the way you do though. When you've been through what we have ttc, it loses a certain innocence which means we're more anxious than instadiffers. My MiL had some great advice the other day. She just said "you need to stop seeing yourself as a special case. You're just a pregnant woman like any other now." - she's right, but it's hard to remember when The Fear creeps up. Flowers

Had my penultimate acu session this morning. She stops seeing her clients after the thumbs up at the 12 week scan. She got rid of my headache, but I had to have needles in my eyebrows which was WEIRD. Feel a bit sad about not seeing her anymore - she's become a regular feature in my life and has not only managed to help get me pregnant, but has been a brilliant counsellor too. She went through five years of infertility and finally had a baby at 41, so she knows how it feels. Will miss her! She's said to go back at 36 weeks to help prepare for the birth and I think I will. I want to get her something to say thank you. She always wears fabulous earrings. Do you guys think if I got her a pair in the style that she wears that would be too weird/intimate?

Win, sorry to hear the stress is building - it is a huge milestone and I fully understand the temptation to freak out, but I certainly found it got emotionally a lot easier after scan/harmony was done. Having a detailed private scan made the 20 week NHS scan fell like less of a hurdle as they'd already checked a lot of the things they look for at 20 weeks.

I'm not sure if it helps, but I found it comforting to keep telling myself that the scan/test wouldn't make anything go wrong, it would just tell me what was happening - if that wasn't great, I needed to know, and if it was good (vastly more likely now!) then I really wanted that reassurance! Thinking of you.

Oh, and on diet returning to childhood, I am totally addicted to rice pudding (eaten cold from the fridge) at the moment - that and glasses of cold milk seem to be about half my diet. Apparently the baby needs a lot of calcium at this stage, which may explain my sudden obsession!

Report
winohhh · 17/07/2014 15:27

Thanks guys. I do actually tell myself that Jess, and it does help. I'm not changing anything, I'm just finding out. Unfortunately I do see myself as a special case feather! My gp was so damning about my fertility test scores, saying I was unlikely to get pregnant, and if I did it would be poor egg quality and more likely to miscarry (and I also took that to mean more likely to have chromosomal problems too). Grr. Subsequently I've been told that's not strictly true, but I can't get it out of my head!! Anyway, sorry, whiney pants today! Must try and distract self till Monday!!

I hear what you're saying win, and sorry if I came across as flippant - I'm not at all. I'm freaking out myself but fighting tooth and nail to be as positive as possible right now. Your doctor sounds like a douche bag by the way. X

You didn't sound flippant feather! It's a great point, and one that subsequent consultants have said. I'm trying to hang on to that!!

Feather I don't think it'd be weird at all to get your acu lady a gift, in fact I think it's rather lovely. After all it's a v personal thing helping infertility. I think she'd really appreciate it, perhaps get a little card too and write what you've told us. As a teacher I love the cards that the parents write in saying how much x has come on etc, I keep them for when I'm feeling rubbish to remind myself I'm better than what I think.

winnoh I agree with feather your doctor is a douche bag!! How many weeks are you at this scan?

Can't say my diet has gone back to childhood really but cold rice pudding sounds lush but I've always loved it!! To counteract the sheer load of sugar yesterday ( it got worse peeps, shared a bag of minstrels with dh before bed Blush I ate a big ass salad with some salmon tonight. Had a choc ice today, a brownie cake so bit of an improvement on yesterday!! Pub after school tomorrow, any recommendations for a nice cool non alcoholic drink? Was thinking black currant cordial and soda or lemonade as could have a big old pint of that or a coke (which has become my naughty treat because of the caffeine!)

Report
CatsCantFlyFast · 17/07/2014 20:25

I wouldn't worry about diet ladies, it all calms down once you're into the second tri
No need to drink loads of water for the scan. You can drink too much and be asked to empty a bit out of your bladder (surely almost impossible) whereas if they need it a bit fuller they will tell you to go and have a glass of water. I used to wee before leaving home and drink most of a bottle of water eg small bottle of Evian or whatever on the way there

Report
jessplussomeonenew · 17/07/2014 21:00

Elderflower cordial and tonic (in a posh glass with ice and lime/lemon) was my favourite home non-alcoholic drink until the heartburn started to set in. Orange and lemonade is really nice and more readily available, but bit the dust for similar reasons. I have so far resisted asking pubs/cafes for a glass of cold milk, though iced chocolate or chai can be lovely...

Good thing Merk as the diet is not so hot. Today the dino decided it no longer likes the tap water at work (which I have drunk for 4 years without incident) so I went to M&S and got some bottled water to stay hydrated.

Whilst there, I saw they had a kale and mango juice which I remembered liking and thought ooh, that will get some vits in.

45 min later, work loo like scene from Exorcist :(

However, nearly at the end of the first tri! Onwards and outwards upwards! I hope Confused

Mmmm....cold rice pudding sounds dreamy. Those nice Rachel's ones you get in the yoghurt aisle in the supermarket are lush!

win glad I didn't piss you off!

bushy good shout in the card too - will do that and get her some lovely earrings I saw in a shop months ago.

I'm at the MiL's from tonight till Sunday. She's having a summer soirée on Saturday and I'm helping her make all the food - I bloody love cooking but will have to reign in The Bossiness. I've most eaten carbs today: croissant, bananas, a bread roll with Philadelphia, half an m&s moussaka, a few green beans, and now I'm thinking about sneaking downstairs for some marzipan. Roll on the second trimester - I need to get healthy!

Oh, and rp, poor you! To be fair, kale and mango don't sound like comfortable buddies. The idea of them both squeezed into a bottle makes me green around the gills!

I second that, the thought of kale and mango- bleurgh!!

Last day of school today-yay!! Had a kids v adults rounders match & was quite chuffed with myself, didn't get out and whacked it a bit too. My flipping legs are killing me now though!! I haven't done any exercise that gets me out of breath since before all of this. No spotting afterward so pleased, hope it was ok. Had a few you're not drinking comments at the pub, said I was driving and going out afterward.

Ironically this year have got lots of wine!! Trying to throw people off the scent by saying how much I'm going to enjoy it!!
