win 13 weeks!!! Omg!! How great is that. They said they'd give blood results on the day unless the news isn't great, in which case they would call. Did you go to the FMC in London? Good on your dh for drip feeding Doppler usage. You know it's for the best. Wink

Thanks yorkie! Still trying not to get too excited at the mo, but it's getting increasingly harder not to!

winohhh · 15/07/2014 13:58

Yes feather, fmc in london. Eek, going to be worried about phone calls from unknown numbers till Monday!

FeatherFeather11 · 15/07/2014 14:04

win sorry to make you fret! Their number will come up on your phone. It did when they rang me back yesterday (I called them to see if I needed to have a full bladder for the scan)

jessplussomeonenew · 15/07/2014 16:51

Great news about your scan Feather :) Hope you all have good scan/harmony results soon.

I had my nuchal bloods taken separately from booking in bloods, which I think is normal - have become very used to having blood drawn these last months. I have a private theory that the increase in blood volume in pregnancy (not to mention frequency of weeing) is designed to prepare us for giving samples at almost every appointment!

I'd say theres no point being uncomfortable if you're starting to find your normal clothes don't fit - lots of maternity wear is really stretchy/designed to expand, so you can buy stuff now you'll be able to wear later! Also worth a sift through the back of the wardrobe for stuff that you didn't wear much - I had a few tops (tunic shaped) that I never used to wear because they made me look pregnant when I wasn't, which have now come ino their own!

Alternatively you could get some nice floaty dresses that gather under the bust, not necessarily maternity specific requirements ones? The lovely thing about loose dresses is being able to avoid the whole issue of waistbands!

The timing means you'll probably need to spend a bit more on real maternity wear than I have because you'll need winter clothes - but on the bright side you miss having to sweat through the third trimester in summer, which I have to say really isn't fun!

Just sayin'.

Feather that is amazing! I got a bit teary reading about your OH. not that I am a hormonal nitwit who googles pictures of baby animals and cries at them, oh no

When is your 12w scan, the NHS one?

FeatherFeather11 · 15/07/2014 18:26

Thanks jess! Don't want to tempt fate getting maternity gear pre-12w so going to make do for a bit.

rp thought I was the only one who did that! See pic above for you. Wink my 12w nhs scan is the same date as the private one - 29 July.

Where's our bushy, then??

greatbigbushybeard · 15/07/2014 18:35

Arr lovely news feather, bless your dh! I think the 12 week one will be where it feels a bit more real. I'll have to keep an eye on dh to see if he might well up but he's a bit tough so maybe not!! He did get quite tiddly on the w/e and whispered he's so proud of me and what I'm dong in there-patting my belly. I kept thinking he would let the cat out of the bag!!

Loving all the helpful tips and totally second jess's idea of digging round in the wardrobe! I've found tops I was going to chuck that have been good for this stage. I did buy a few looser tops a couple of weeks ago as so much of my clothing was tight! So do you wear the belly band under your clothes with long top over it so you can wear trousers undone? I am down to one pair of work trousers that are loose enough, leggings and some skirts and v casual crop trousers which are only ok for PE days. Think jess is right we will gave to spend out on winter wardrobe. I think I will look out a belly band thing, some long vests and the extender things. Ooh how glamorous. Looking at my wardrobe so much is off limits as it's too tight to get in or too tight as in shows pudge/ bump!! I've taken to a night before try on every night for work clothes as don't want to give the game away!!

Noticing more twangs and a heavy feeling. Feel quite tired. Roll on the summer hols!!

RevoltingPeasant · 15/07/2014 19:36

If you want something to make you well up try this Pets at Home ad

And yes, glamour is dead. I feel like an old man. I let off a horrendous fart in bed last night which actually silenced DH in the middle of a sentence. I belch constantly. Or sneak off upstairs to vomit. I will only eat beige foods and none of this vegetable muck. And the trews.... Although they really are such a godsend, they are black linen so definitely wearable to work but with a drawstring elastic waist instead of a button. Ping!

winohhh · 15/07/2014 20:21

Just a quickie! Does anyone know, Can we eat chorizo if cooked?

CatsCantFlyFast · 15/07/2014 20:26

Ah the burping and farting...I had forgotten about that

CatsCantFlyFast · 15/07/2014 20:27

Win cooked meat is fine, including chorizo

winohhh · 15/07/2014 20:52

Thanks merk!!

RevoltingPeasant · 15/07/2014 21:39

DH hasn't forgotten Merk.... Nor likely to for some time, poor bloke.

FeatherFeather11 · 15/07/2014 22:33

This one's for you rp. The determined look in this baby fox made me cry the other day. Shock

The berry copter thread for all your clenching and hand holding needs
greatbigbushybeard · 15/07/2014 22:46

Oh Rp that made me laugh!Grin

I've been eating cooked chorizo, cooked is fine just don't nibble it whilst you're preparing it, which is normally what I do!!

RevoltingPeasant · 15/07/2014 22:52

Awwwww.

:)

FeatherFeather11 · 16/07/2014 14:02

Has/Is anyone else having some twisted sexy dreams? I keep waking up feeling like I've just cheated on oh!! Blush

RevoltingPeasant · 16/07/2014 16:53

I had a horrible dream this morning - you know the dream where you wake up and get ready and go to work but something is a bit wrong?

It was a sort of variant on that, except I woke up with the alarm, got out of bed - and realised I was bleeding everywhere, massive clots. Tried getting through to 111 but the line was crackly and I couldn't make out the advice they were giving me.

Then I woke up and realised it was just a dream and woke DH up to sob to him about it

FeatherFeather11 · 16/07/2014 18:52

Oh, rp, that's horrific, and must have been so upsetting. The good news is your subconscious is just working through your fears, while mine seems to be having me shagging my boss! Eeeeeeeewwwwwwww!

greatbigbushybeard · 16/07/2014 19:40

Hahaha feather!!!

Agree it's just your subconscious too rp. Horrible though. Loved the pets at home ad! And the little fox!! 2 more days to go teacher berries, unless you're working next week.

I have been eating so much sugary tut recently,we've had cakes, chocolates etc in staff room-mm but one cake was so sugary it kinda set my teeth on edge, does anyone know what I mean? One of my summer hols jobs is to get a nhs dentist and send the free dental form off.

Still no date yet for scan.

RevoltingPeasant · 16/07/2014 19:50

Ah I can't go near sugary stuff. I tried cola sweets back in week 7 as they'd allegedly help settle my tummy.... Let's just say they didn't Confused cannot have anything sugary now. Probably good given how little exercise I am doing!

Yes I started having cramping early this morning which is what set the dream off, I expect. It was awful, so realistic. I think part of my brain still expects to get my period any day. But I googled and apparently the uterus expands massively in weeks 11-13 so cramping is normal.

I definitely find if I press my hand lightly above the mons pubis the 'triangle' of lower abdo muscle under my belly fat feels distended and like there is something firm or swollen behind it. Very start of bump?!

Apparently this week the baby is the size of a Brussels sprout if all is well. I like that, as it feels less like it might fall out randomly!

greatbigbushybeard · 16/07/2014 20:10

Spoke to soon, checked my post and I have a date- 30th yay but but bummed I have to wait 2 weeks, was hoping it'd be next week which should be 12 weeks, I'll be nearly 13 by then. The letter says appt is for' US obstetric nuchal dating scan. Also says to finish drinking a litre of water an hour before. Any advice wise scanned berry ladies?

FeatherFeather11 · 16/07/2014 20:16

I'm all over the sweet stuff right now. I scoffed a doughnut with pink icing for the first time since I was 12 years old. And just had a load of mango. And now I'm fantasising about chocolate. Can't even go near fish, which I usually love, and the thought of eating anything too meaty make me want to heave. But at the same time, veg, aside from potato, sugar snaps and maybe carrots are really off putting. If I keep eating the way I have been, I'll be the size of Hawaii come my due date, so gotta nip it somehow.

bushy anyway you can push for a scan date? Lay the pressure on a bit?

FeatherFeather11 · 16/07/2014 20:17

Ah, x-post bushy - great news re scan date! Could you ring to see if they can bring it forward a few days? Mine's on the 29th!

Bunnygirlie · 16/07/2014 21:03

Hey ladies

How are we all?

Congrats on scan Feather Smile

Had my 28w appt today, my arm now has many holes Sad
