When i was pregnant with ds about 3 years ago my brother's boyfriend asked me 'is it true that the cord can get wrapped around the neck and strangle the baby?'

I nearly threw up at the thought of it.

I haven't seen a 'tactless shit people come out with' thread in a while.

Please share!!

"Was it planned?"
Angry Fuck off as if that's any of your business.

ithoughtofitfirst · 06/04/2014 21:06

Haha YES i hate that question. So fucking rude!

weebigmamma · 06/04/2014 21:06

I've had 'was it planned' too! Also, 'why are you having a section?'- EVERYONE asks that and although I don't mind telling people one-on-one I don't particularly want to explain my obstetric history to entire rooms full of people, and NOBODY wants to hear about what a third degree tear entails anyway.

FoodieMum3 · 06/04/2014 21:07

'Will you go again if this one is another girl'?

'You lucky bitch having a section'

'Was it planned'?

Giveme5minutes · 06/04/2014 21:09

'What will you do with it if it's autistic like your other dc?'

JaquelineHyde · 06/04/2014 21:09

'Oh I always thought you were too fat to get pregnant'

My stepmum ladies and gentleman, a lovely lady but a real tactless shit Grin

Someone asked my friend if she felt she was bonding with her baby because she was FF. She had severe pnd and was taking citalopram. Like she needed a reason. I blew my top when she told me.

Are you preggo? I am preggo!

Those are both pretty daft things I have heard people say about pregnancy.

Asking about whether cords can get wrapped around necks is possibly insensitive but not stupid - as it does happen and is a common cause of stillbirth and birth trauma.

ithoughtofitfirst · 06/04/2014 21:16

The term 'preggo' is indeed very silly mintyy. well done you.

'oooo a springer spaniel!' Grin

Fluffybastardcloudkittens · 06/04/2014 21:41

a family member keeps bringing up my MIL's first pregnancy. I don't know the details but the baby died at term. She brings it up like it's a family fact that I should enjoy knowing about - it's so bloody insensitive to poor MIL and to me Angry

goofygoober · 06/04/2014 21:44

Recently, someone (a medical professional who was treating me) started talking about stillbirth - I am 6 m

goofygoober · 06/04/2014 21:45

Months pregnant and very sensitive. Idiotic twat.

beela · 06/04/2014 21:54

I am pregnant with dc2. Many people have chosen to share with me stories of their best mate's cousin's sister etc, who had their second child in about 30 seconds / on the kitchen floor / in a cup stop / the hospital car park.

Also, my personal favourite from a colleague 'some women do die in childbirth, you know'.

I am surrounded by positivity.

OurMiracle1106 · 06/04/2014 21:55

Are you sure your not closer to full term than you think/ it's not twins or triplets? Yes I am for the hundredth time sure. My scans confirm. Yes I am huge but baby is normal as is my weight so go away!

beela · 06/04/2014 21:55

A bus stop, not a cup stop.

dramajustfollowsme · 06/04/2014 22:11

"Oh, I thought you were barren."
Said to me after several mc and the birth of my stillborn son.
Or
"You'll be hoping this one isn't ginger too"
Both got "fuck off" as a response.

Blueberry234 · 06/04/2014 22:16

'You must be disappointed it is another boy'

And

'You must be high risk of a prem baby as you are so skinny' (my booking on bmi was 21.5!)

Christelle2207 · 06/04/2014 22:18

I always hated "hows the bump". Um, getting bigger.

miniHovis · 06/04/2014 22:19

this baby is my 4th and the comments are all wow! you must be crazy, are you stopping after this one? my reply now is the tv was broke and we are buying a mini bus and are going to stop when its full, that soon shuts them up lol

ithoughtofitfirst · 06/04/2014 22:19

Oooh no they didn't!!! My brother is ginger and he's the coolest. I heart gingers big time.

When dd was 2 days old, crash section because I haemorrhaged and her heart stopped:

Mw - Mrs Ski, have you considered your future contraception options?
Me - a stranger stuck a knife in my stomach 48 hrs ago, and you think I want to have sex ?

Blueshine · 06/04/2014 22:20

In response to me telling my work place I was pregnant one girl asked "what with a baby?"
No with a goat WTF do you think!

ithoughtofitfirst · 06/04/2014 22:21

Haha hovis that's brilliant

OP posts:
Hoppinggreen · 06/04/2014 22:24

I got pg very soon after a mc.
My SIL on hearing I was having a girl " I thought you would have a boy, maybe the baby who died was a boy"
Even my rhino hide insensitive oaf of a brother was visibly shocked at that one!!!
