Oh my god, has anyone tried flossing recently? I just gave myself the shock of my life - so much blood came out my gums that I looked like I'd been punched in the mouth repeatedly. Was so terrified the bleeding wasn't going to stop. Just phoned brother and SIL and thankfully they reassured me it's normal and the bleeding stops eventually.

Seriously, if you want to play a practical joke, just have a floss! You could scare the hell out of someone!!!

NeedlesCuties · 03/06/2012 21:41

fairtrade my gums also bleed when I floss during pregnancy! Freaky! There is an old wives tale/saying that goes, "a mother loses a tooth for every child she has." Think it means that being pregnant takes so much out of the body.

I didn't lose any teeth after I had DS Grin but think the saying has an element of truth in it.

ImissMiniPop · 03/06/2012 21:54

Bleeding gums is normal, honestly in hospital I was so fed up with bleeding - everytime I went to the loo, my nose and my gums... and the flippin nurses with their needles... gah!! :)

I really need to up my calcium and get to the dentist pronto actually. Good reminder.

tashaw28 · 03/06/2012 22:06

Poppy if you get Floradix, make sure you get a prescription for it as is £15 a month otherwise (iron expert speaking!)
So exhausted from our street party, and it's DS2's 4th party tomorrow at home, arghhhhh!!! Been chopping veg, blowing balloons, cake making etc all evening and lower legs throbbing, DH out on boys night so going to bed in 5 mins!!!

0FrillyKnickers0 · 03/06/2012 22:14

Chopping veg for a 4th birthday party, Tash you are a good mum!! Shall I get DIA Part 5 set up as we are speeding towards 1000 posts? Wish we could see the oldest one...reminisce!

ishopthereforeiam · 03/06/2012 22:41

Let's fill this thread up first, then set up the next. Still got 20 odd posts to go Grin. We should find the first one though, I started it in dec but no idea how to find it?!

Good point tash

Urgh have had bleeding gums forever, not even flossing just randomly during the day!

Gah! Stupid phone won't let me view it!! Well done ihop!!!

geekette · 03/06/2012 23:20

DH just packed my maternity bag Grin. We got most of the stuff on the nhs maternity bag page
We didn't put in as many baby vests as in the video just 2 and got the rest except snacks and nursing bras which i will be fitted for in about 7 weeks. OMG that makes it sound so close... I am not ready yet!!!

Bleeding gums. yeah brushing tends to bring that on for me. Some weeks ago it was also spontaneous. I upped my cheese intake and it stopped. could be coincidence... Confused

Just looked back on the first thread. There are so many names I do not recognise any more!

ImissMiniPop · 03/06/2012 23:42

Blimey, almost on part 5 -and I didn't even make it that far! :o

This thread has been so useful, helpful and supportive. Hope all your bumps are brewing well over this jubilee bank holiday weekend

We live fairly close to the river, but I wasn't able to make it so watched it all on telly while DP went to have a closer look with some friends. I think I might have had a better, drier view :D

ImissMiniPop · 03/06/2012 23:44

thanks for the tip tash I am really scared to take my iron tables, so might go to the doctors and get some of that instead. I'm on paracetamol and codeine for the pain, so that's not helping in the old poo-department either Blush

ishopthereforeiam · 04/06/2012 00:28

Ohhh geekette well done on getting the bag sorted! Am feeling tres inadequate as poor baby only has two onesies at the moment!

Have seen a cute gap outfit which I might get soon as a going ho me outfit for ds to be.

Tip there are a few codes available for gap online if anyone needs anything at the mo. I managed to get £40 of baby stuff down to £25. Happy shopping Wink

poppy did they prescribe you some movicol or laxatose? I had some laxatose prescribed due to tear with dd, my friend had a c/s a month ago and was prescribed the same... Helps with the poo and avoids further injury to your stitches etc Blush.

May finish this glass of water and try sleeping again. Hopefully I won't be sick. Cannot afford to be ill this week as running my dad's e-bay business while he is away.

0FrillyKnickers0 · 04/06/2012 03:16

Ah Susie, feeling sick is the worst Sad EBay business? What does he sell?

ishopthereforeiam · 04/06/2012 03:17

I had the itchy roof of mouth too Susie altho wasn't sure if hay fever had kicked in yet... Hope you're feeling a bit better? What does your dad do on eBay? I'm selling bits and bobs at the mo but difficult to make much on stuff due to the fees etc.

Oh he sells fish keeping stuff like heaters and pumps and has just moved into doing food as well! Not very exciting but he is really into fish so decided to do when he got made redundant a couple of years ago but could not get a job due to his age and too much experience!

0FrillyKnickers0 · 04/06/2012 03:22

Yeah...no harm...! Well, after two bowls of cereal I think I'd better head bedward in case I use up all the milk --and get fat in the process, although I'm pregnant a so I could cover it up for another 12 weeks Hmm...

I hope sleep doesn't evade you for much longer Ishop Smile Feel better soon Susie Grin
