Thank you everyone, I don't feel such a lemon now! Am very glad not to be at work today as it is stupidly humid & hot - the only thing I have done today is go to Tesco & loiter round the chilled section Grin & pop into New Look on the way back to pick up a couple of summer dresses so I have something cool to wear (they're not maternity but 'tis the season of stretchy things apparently!)
Poppy I hope you get your cuddles today - have they said how long your little boy will be on the CPAP for?
marmite you have exhausted me with your activity, sit down & have a cool drink (just discovered Copella Apple & Elderflower diluted with sparkling water, v refreshing & half price at Tesco!)
Have been invited out for curry tonight so no cooking, hurray!

ffscatmove · 29/05/2012 16:56

Also Poppy I think you are obliged to stay on the thread - you'll be an old hand dispensing advice to the rest of us by August!

WelshLadyCDF · 29/05/2012 17:36

hi all,
just a quick tip for you, I am suffering from Sciatica, I have read that swimming really helps so I went to a fancy hotel near my work and they agreed to let me use their pool for a rate much cheaper than the going rate and only for a month i.e. no contract.

also, my bellybutton is moving from an innie to an outie - anyone else?

panpipe · 29/05/2012 17:49

Yes Welsh my belly button is rapidly disappearing too; only a couple of weeks I reckon before it completely pops out!

(ps sorry if this ends up posting twice - phone not cooperating!)

susiegrapevine · 29/05/2012 19:36

pan just wanted to say boobs are definatly not mummylicious just large and saggy (tho dh is not complaining)

scottish very funny about the discharge especially as you work in IT!

poppy glad to hear he is ok and well done on the expressing, must be hard when you only have collostorum.

I'm sure i had at least 4 sessions of about 2 hrs of antenatal classes so 2 sounds a bit few but one was about breast feeding. I missed one that was about aftercare, but that would have been number 5. Thats from what i can remember from over 2 years ago anyway.

0FrillyKnickers0 · 29/05/2012 19:36

Hi welsh! Mine started popping out ages ago! It's pretty much given up the ghost now though (such a random saying...where did it come from Hmm)!

Just had a lovely dinner of half a baked spud with Tina and salad Grin Couldn't manage the whole thing due to eating rice crispy cakes before hand! Ok so I had 3 but they were only small...Blush

tashaw28 · 29/05/2012 21:35

I have no belly button left at all!!!! Has gone completely flat already!
Poppy well done on the expressing, not much c section advice I'm afraid except walking etc will get easier over the next few days, don't do anything (lifting carrying etc) as the painkillers mask the pain and you feel ok and then do something and it'll hold up your healing.
Looking forward to hearing your boy name!!!

MrsMigginslovespies · 29/05/2012 22:33

Just thought I'd say that my feet are so puffy tonight that they're actually wrinkled with folds. And it's not even hot here. Hope they go down soon as am bit concerned. Maybe I need to up my fluids, bizarrely. DH had a go at me earlier for doing too much and said I should be taking it slowly. So I will. When I can Wink. Off to bed, sweet dreams all x

sc0ttishlass · 29/05/2012 23:01

belly button almost flat here too.. cankles are here - adn have been for weeks - they dont even seem to go down at night - im drinking more than ever (definately around 3 litres a day) - my mum wants me to go to doc tomorrow to get BP checked - but just putting down to heat and will see them in a weeks time - i wish there was something else i could check myself like BP or protein in urine to know if anything wrong without another trip to hospital. my hands are not too swollen though - only sometimes and my face isnt - all very odd!
anyway - off to bed - if anyone hasnt tried ben and jerrys vermont (something) - cant remember second half of name, but its just like pralines and cream, i recommend it - although VERY easy to eat whole tub! did have with strawberries so they are healthy right? :)
night everyone and special love to Poppy and mini poppy :)
xx

ishopthereforeiam · 29/05/2012 23:51

I'm sooo into Ben & jerrys too! Although recently discovered a penchant for cornettos...

And frappucinos but that's because they're half price and I'm on a budget til this house stuff gets sorted... Feel like I'm running out of time to move pre baby?!

Belly button flattened out ages ago Blush

poppy of course you have to stay on the thread Grin hope you're slowly recovering x

Thank God for maxi dresses otherwise I'd be stuck for clothes in this weather!

Hello all, I had written a big speil but the bloody computer logged me out of my MN login and everything I'd written disappearedAngry.
Firstly congratulations Poppy, 30 weeks is a good gestation so fingers crossed that miniPop continues to do well. Hope you're feeling less sore soon too.

I've got my GTT on Thurs, I'm not looking forward to the fasting bit. Hopefully all will be ok especially as there has been no signs of glucose in my wee so far. I didn't get it with DD so fingers crossed this pregnancy will be the same.
However, he is being a little monkey. He's mostly favouring the breech or transverse position but so long as he's head down in 12/13 weeks time I don't mind. Saying that, if he's inherited his Father's sense of direction then I don't hold out much hopeGrin.
This weather is just glorious at the moment, I'm making sure my Vit D levels remain topped up! The downside of the heat are the swollen ankles, but working nights isn't helping much either I suppose. I'm hoping to stay on the ward until 33 weeks, after which I think I'll be in antenatal clinic until I start my mat leave. That's the plan anyway, how it pans out only time will tell.

have a good week everyone.

WelshLadyCDF · 30/05/2012 05:58

'miniPop' ! What a cute name for baby Poppy!

Can't sleep, cancels, bad back, back and for to the loo, Zzzzzz

The3Bears · 30/05/2012 08:58

Good Morning everyone,

Hope your feeling well today Poppy and 'minipop' (cute) You have to stay on the thread, looking forward to your next update :)

I agree we should carry on the thread, it's so much nicer hearing from people going through the exact same stage as you it's v reassuring when your worried etc cant believe there is not that long left really 10 weeks on Saturday for me :)

Ive been going crazy doing the gardening, the garden looks lovely now can just imagine sitting outside with a brand new baby in Aug :) Hope the weather stays lovely for Aug.

My belly button is still an innie but v shallow so im sure soon it will pop.

Hope everyone has a lovely Wednesday!

Vinolover · 30/05/2012 09:02

Morning all :)

How are you and bubs today Poppy?

My belly button is still more or less as it was but then it didn't pop out with my other two either so I suppose it won't this time. It may have something to do with my long body and the fact this baby is a very low rider Wink.

I have got a real obsession with Mochas at the moment! I've resorted to buying the nescafe sachets which actually are really very nice but I do limit it to one a day. Can't wait to meet up with a friend on friday because then I get to have a 'real' one Grin

Hope everyone has a good day :)

hamncheese · 30/05/2012 09:03

I can't tell if my ankles are swollen but my hands are... :( miss wearing my wedding rings as I look young and without I think people take me for a knocked up teenager!

Anyone else got extremely sore feet, like walk for 30 mins and they are so bad you literally can't get back on them? Probably doesn't help wearing toms all the time but the prospect of going back to shoes with laces depresses me.

No more chat as on phone hate typing on touch screen but our WiFi is out for some reason grrr

Hope all have a good day esp poppy and minipop :)

sc0ttishlass · 30/05/2012 10:04

ham - i took my rings off last night :( i m 35 but also look young (got ID'd in marks and spencers last week for dine in for a tenner with bottle of wine!!) - so i know what you mean! i am thinking of buying another large ring just to put something on that finger!

enjoy your day everyone!
xx

fairtradelu · 30/05/2012 10:14

My hands are swelling and I have itchy forearms too (sun burn plus slight swelling) so had to take engagement ring off last night. Am going to try and persevere with wedding ring a little longer as it is bigger but think it'll have to go soon too :( Also my feet have become fat and I can no longer wear my fave shoes - it's a good job it's hot as only sandals seem to fit at mo.

And one final moan before I go (sorry, having a bad morning!) - baby has developed a tendency to kick me in what feels like the diaphragm. It kind of takes my breath away when it happens and is mighty uncomfortable. Anyone else getting this?

PoppyS34wantstogohome · 30/05/2012 10:18

Morning ladies, just checking in. Had my first cuddle last night, MW helped me express some colostrum to take to Bump and the nurse looking after him was just about to weigh him, so got a cuddle.

He is so teeny tiny, but is doing ok at the moment, so just taking each day as it comes.

Poor little mite, feel so bad for making him go through this.

Can't wait to see him again today.

Lovemarmite · 30/05/2012 10:48

Great to hear you had a cuddle Poppy and wow, that must be amazing. Don't feel bad, he's in great care and you're doing your best, what more can you do x

OK, sorry but... me too on the moan now. My belly button is sooo painful and just talked to mw who says that sometimes the muscle there tears and it just gets progressively more painful and then tears. OMG!!! Apparently most lady's just pop / stretch but a few don't and from what I described she said that it sounded as mine might be part of the few... things they don't tell you until it happens eh?! Ahhhh.
Fingers seem fine, ankles not yet swollen but I have few spider veins appeared on them - sexy!
Oo wish I was still ID'd for things, now at err hem, 39, the laughter lines are obviously obvious.

Baby is kicking me to the sides and lying across my belly... I have a very rounded tummy, not a high bump but definitely bigger across the middle (may explain belly button?). However I do get the odd kicks up towards my diaphragm and so maybe she is turning around a lot.

Your garden sounds amazing 3bears. I went for it yesterday but there are so many weeds and so may tackle them at the weekend or learn to love them!

susiegrapevine · 30/05/2012 11:16

Great to hear you got a cuddle poppy

No belly button popping for me didn't happen last time just got shallower so am hoping it won't this time!

I do get kicked in the diaphragm fair but don't really feel it i just hiccup once! thats how i know he's doing it but he always seems to be really high up was soooo uncomfy in the office yesterday could not sit still. And sometimes i think he digs his feet into my ribs as it really hurts! Push him down all the time lol!

The3Bears · 30/05/2012 11:58

Aww Poppyso glad you got a cuddle!

Marmite That sounds painful, never knew that the muscle there could tear hope your okay. Thank you, our garden is only small but I like the flower beds to look lovely and neat so feel much better now it's all done, felt so tired doing it though had to keep stopping and having a large glass of water I just need to realise I cant do too much, as dp told me. Just have the shed to paint now but leaving that to dp :) ds1 wants it to be yellow Hmm but no just boring dark oak.

After going to John Lewis a gazillion times and oggling over the limited edition Bugaboo Bee dp gave in and ordered one last night Grin Grin Grin cannot wait for it to arrive in about 4 weeks. So excited now we have everything ready for ds2's arrival after getting all ds1's newborn clothes out of the loft last week we are overflowing in babyclothes, Just have a monitor to choose Confused and my hospital nighties etc but waiting for July sales for that so now just 10 weeks of relaxing and cooing over babygros Grin
Is anyone else nearly done with there baby shopping?
Has anyone any monitor recomendations?

Lovemarmite · 30/05/2012 12:17

ooo wow 3bears, you're so organised! And what a lovely DP for ordering the bugabee. Hmm my DH gave in a few weeks ago when I was obsessing over change bags, and so I got an expensive one! Blew the budget there (what budget?!) but I think I needed cheering up :o

Also need advice on the monitor but our list is still quite big. This month, I'm going to get a change mat, a sleep bag and I'm quite confused about how many more clothes we may need. So far only one newborn baby grow but have two 0-3 months and quite a few vests.

Also confused about swaddling as I've got a swaddle but not sure what you put the LO in under the swaddle (obviously a nappy but maybe more clothes? perhaps it depends on the weather). Hmm I get confused about what to wear myself let alone this LO?! All advice warmly accepted here please!

Feeling a little grumpy about my painful belly button and was looking at the Boden 20% discounts and wondering if maternity leggings may give me my belly more comfort or a belly band.

alisonmcg · 30/05/2012 13:24

eeek 3bears you've scared me there, we're not organised AT ALL!! Other than putting a deposit down on a pram we haven't done anything else yet, starting to worry a bit as only 12 weeks to go!! DP is off this weekend thankfully so come hell or high water I WILL be dragging him round the shops to start getting things chosen/ordered. For my own piece of mind would like things to be sorted now so that we can't be taken by surprise by an early arrival!

poppy that's brilliant that you got to have a cuddle, hope you get some more soon!

tashaw28 · 30/05/2012 13:43

3bears I love my anglecare monitor with sensor pad, wouldn't be without it!!!
poppy delighted u had a cuddle at last, did u try kangaroo care? Xx

The3Bears · 30/05/2012 16:05

Ive been looking at that one tasha, thinking that or a bt one dp likes a Samsung video one but im not sure Confused there is so many!

I know alison i'd just rather be prepared so I can relax and enjoy the last few weeks without thinking 'i need this and that' etc of course if I see another adorable teddy I may just purchase it Grin

I know marmite he's officially best dp in the world now :) also took me to JL a couple of weeks ago and picked up lots and lots of cute baby bits and let me choose changing bag, I have a pink lining one which one have you gone for?
I would get a few newborn baby gros because thats all they will be in for the first few weeks, a couple of cute outfits are nice but not really necessary. Some cardigans for when it's a bit chilly and a thicker jacket as it's Aug it should still be warm :)
Im not too sure about what to put them in when swaddling as ds1 was a winter baby so he was wrapped up all the time really, maybe just a vest when it's quite warm and a baby gro when abit cooler. You should look at the groegg nightlight we still have ds1's now and it's great for knowing what to put them in at night etc and the colours v calming (it's sometimes about £13 on amazon)
