vanimal · 31/05/2012 15:39

Can I ask how big your bumps are? Mine's fairly big now, I am getting lots of people saying 'wow, you're only 7 months? You're huuuge'. It makes me want to kill them. (alisonmcg I am also going to blame the pregnancy hormones, it's a perfectly reasonable explanation I think!)

I am big, but it's my 3rd pregnancy in 5 years, so everything has also stretched (lovely thought!).

I had a late scan earlier this week, baby's growth is fine, and I have a normal amount if fluid in there too. I have put on around 10kgs, so not too excessive at this stage although I could do with cutting down on the cakes.

It's really annoying!

WelshLadyCDF · 31/05/2012 16:09

ishop she locked herself in the cat?? am not sure who i feel the most sorry for! (oh you mean CAR!)

marmite I am on iron tablets (120g a day) and seem to be avoiding constipation, I have changed my diet to cut out some sweet stuff and junk so that might help.

hamncheese · 31/05/2012 17:00

Meh I'm with you on the lack of materinty allowance miggins it's annoying thinking that some people get it and some don't, yet we are all doing the same thing, having a baby and caring for it.

Owww baby just flopped to the right side of me and I currently have a lopsided bump and if I push the feet out my ribs it pushes the whole baby onto my bladder eek! It's so weird to actually be able to feel it's form from the outside!!

Haha ishop loving the roll to all fours Grin we are all so elegant these days!

Sorry to hear of the feeling bad warzone and feeling murderous alison!

I just went through my hospital bag stuff. Still some bits to get but it was mostly grabbing stuff from around the house so I am totally prepared for any early visits.

I feel so sore again today, ribs and back aching so much I need a hotwater bottle on them but that's making me too hot. Has anyone been feeling faint recently? I THINK it's because of overheating but I have been having a few funny turns. I've never actually fainted in my life but just felt a bit sick and dizzy. Iron was checked at 28 weeks so will no doubt find out if that is anything to worry about at next MW appointment.

OW OW foot in rib again... argh! Going to go do some moving about to get this naughty one back into a sensible position. I have no idea where I'm going to stash him/her in the coming months!

Lovemarmite · 31/05/2012 17:05

Alison yes blame the hormones! I had a real wobbly yesterday with the doctors' receptionist and then she phoned again this afternoon with my prescription and told me to pick it up - I've got ferrous fumerate and folic acid. So I asked her why the folic acid. She said because you're pregnant (ooo, am I?!) and so I had to say that it was recommended in the first three months and so not sure why they're on the prescription now... I then asked to speak to the doctor but was told that I can't see him until the 16th June... ahhhhhh... so I had a boo on the phone and he's calling me tomorrow. Not sure why I cried but I think it was a case of the crap-ness of the doctors here now, why be prescribed things if they are not explained?! My pregnancy vitamins have 400mg of folic acid and so I'm taking that daily. Pregnancy = over-reaction obviously!

Saw that the ferrous fumerate is also known as Ferasday and so looks to be the same as your recommendation tashaw and it seems that NHS says that it may reduce the chance of tummy upset, constipation, but then later down the page it lists the possible side effects - tummy upset, constipation etc... so let's see!

vanimal I think my bump is sometimes massive and then it seems to get a little smaller. I think she is lying across my belly and I have a rounded bump and then in the morning it seems smaller and it's more out the front. Hmm, still I feel huge!

Lovemarmite · 31/05/2012 17:13

Ham yes I've been really fainty and also way less energy than ever!
I walked up a slight hill and almost passed out. My mw said 'to just sit down'. But then my blood results came back with normal haemoglobin level but very low ferritin level and so blood has iron circulating but no reserves to back them up, so not sure if that's the reason for the fainting. Low blood pressure maybe too?

May have to stop the sweets too Welsh - apparently LO starts to develop a taste for what is being eaten and so must do it for her sake too! OK, may have to leave out the milk chocolate and just try the really dark to see if it makes a difference :o

WelshLadyCDF · 31/05/2012 17:43

marmite for me it was sweet fruits and fruit juices that I think i was overdoing. By the way I am on Ferrour Fumarate and my tummy seems fine, no constipation so far.
I had a urine test today I have Ketin (spelling?) in my wee so need to look up what that means.

Wow its funny how it's ok to tell people you don't know stuff like this. I really appreciate this forum. xxx

hamncheese · 31/05/2012 19:09

Hmmm interesting about the faintness/ferritin marmite.. keep us updated if the prescription stops the faintness.

Do you think I should contact the MW now or wait and see if it is ok before next appointment? It's only happened a few times and never enough to see stars or anything like that.

0FrillyKnickers0 · 31/05/2012 19:30

Sorry to leap in and moan but I literally can't stop crying...anyone else get this? I just feel so miserable! Miserable and bored.

We are house sitting for my parents, been here 2 weeks, 1 more to go, but I just want to be in my house with the baby stuff Sad

I'm so tired too. This pregnancy malarkey is so full on!

pintofmilk · 31/05/2012 20:00

Warzone I know how you feel, for some reason anything that passes my lips at the moment is giving me massive acid and reflux problems. Not sure what has set it off but it can bugger off.

Vanimal some days my bump looks huge, depends which way she is lying and what I am wearing. This is my 3rd too, but bigger gap from my last DS. Still get the 'was it an accident' comments which really gets on my nerves. Some days you just want to tell people to naff off and not be soo rude. Angry

Ham I feel faint on a daily basis, have very low blood pressure. Whenever I bend down I get light headed and wooble. Look like a sober drunk person!

pintofmilk · 31/05/2012 20:06

Frilly just saw your update and I will hold your hand. I have been crying most of the day. Woke up with a water infection , tried to get into Doctors only to be told they have no appointments for 3 days!! Felt a bit sorry for the receptionist as she then had me sobbing down the phone. But 2 hours later the doctor phoned me and arranged antibiotics over the phone which I collected 20 minutes later.

Lets have a virtual Wine

0FrillyKnickers0 · 31/05/2012 20:16

Thanks pint Smile

You poor thing, a water infection is not what you want! I had one a few weeks ago and felt so rough with it. I sympathise.

TBH, I felt so poo tonight that I opened a bottle of beer which I am sipping throughout the evening. DH bought me sweets which was kind :-)

Whiteangel · 31/05/2012 20:35

Hello all. Nothing much to add. Sharing your sleeping and dizzy woes. Wanted some advice on behalf of a friend due in five weeks. Her DS is 14 months so she is going to need a double buggy but she is struggling to find one to fit in her car which is a BMW one series. She got rid of her mini less than a year ago so doesn't want to change her car again. Any tips for a compact double? Thanks xx

ffscatmove · 31/05/2012 21:25

Oh FrillyKnickers I sympathise with the crying... I started on Monday at work and literally couldn't stop! I can only assume it's a hormone surge combined with being tired & uncomfortable. I would hate to be away from home the way I've been feeling this week so I really feel for you.

Have a Brew & a Biscuit (a low sugar, high fibre one, obv) & put your feet up.
marmite at least sometimes the tears have their uses!
ham gve your MW a ring and see what they think, I keep getting told off for savingquestions / niggles for appointments so I think they're keen to hear from you.
WelshLady probably Ketones in your wee? Having this may be a sign of diabetes but don't panic, they'll just keep an eye so make sure you have another pot!
Anyone, LO is a bit quiet tonight so I'm going to get a drink & a biscuit & see if that starts the usual evening macarena off!

Lovemarmite · 31/05/2012 21:58

Sorry ham, just seen your post.
I would call your mw if your appointment is not for a few days... I was feeling faint for a few weeks before my 28 weeks bloods but the results sent a flurry of doctor calls to give me a prescription.

Hope you're feeling better frilly
and hope your water infection clears asap pint

Hoping I don't cry tomorrow... not sure when the last day was without a few tears Blush

susiegrapevine · 31/05/2012 22:53

Hey everyone sorry to hear you have all been a bit down. I had a lovely picnic and afternoon in the park today with a lovely group of ladies from our toddler group and ds. Also saw someone i hadn't seen for ages and her twins who are only a couple of weeks older than my ds.

Baby has now turned to be head up did it sometime on tues tho i did not notice so instead of being kicked in the ribs i am being kicked in the fanjo!!

marmite vit c helps abosorb iron so is best to take a vit c supplement at the same time to get the best abosorbtion of iron

ishopthereforeiam · 01/06/2012 00:07

whiteamgel we got the Phil & teds explorer double, we have a three series BMW but a convertible so v small boot too! Picked one up from kiddicare when they had a sale on for less tgan £400

war zone are you feeling better now post the previous scares? Insomnia a plenty here... Still. Going to bed soon but will no doubt be wide awake in an hour and a half! Hope you get some zzzzs

vanilla any photos of your bump? Feeling ginormous here and lots of comments of surprise that still two months to go because of how 'big' I am!

Sh*TTY day today here feeling fed up and like I'm wasting time / being too unproductive as I quit work. But nice bunch of flowers from dh, dd and bump has cheered me up Grin

Final thought ... Anyone else fou d their skin is v itchy or numb?!

OP posts:
The3Bears · 01/06/2012 08:47

Hope everyones well today,

Ham Just have a good rest call the mw if your worried, they usually ring you if your iron levels are low but no harm in checking with mw, hope you feel better today.

Im with you all on the feeling big, baby is also being v active atm not that im complaining it's a lovely feeling but was shopping yesterday and bump kept going in alsorts of funny shapes not sure if he's moved Confused but he is alot more active than a couple of weeks ago which is funny as he's bigger now so surely more squashed.

Going to drive you all mad now but i've been sleeping quite well Blush but had terrible cramp in my leg this morning dp wondered what was wrong as I just burst out crying!

ishop my skins been okay but I did get itchy legs in my last pregnancy so hope that doesnt come back as it was horrible :(

Had a mad cleaning spree last night at about 9 oclock just started mopping the kitchen floors cleaning all the cupboards and skirting boards and then the same in the bathroom v odd as usually im flat out then Grin

Hope everyone has a lovely day weather is rubbish here so not sure what were doing yet.

McBaby · 01/06/2012 09:17

Haven't been on for a while and cant believe we have our first August baby in May. Poppy Hope everything is still going well and comgratulations on you little one. Please keep us updated.

Another day in hospital this week with 24 hours of contractions :( still getting quite a few but as they were every 10 minutes when on the monitor had the doctors a little concerned! But yay they don't think I'm in labour! The hospital have said they wouldn't stop labour now anyway as I had the steroid injections four weeks ago when the contractions were first regular. But can't explain why I'm having them so regularly. Is any one else having regular practice contractions?

But the premature contraptions combined with bad SPD meaning sittong is v painful means no more work. My GP has now signed me off untill my may leave was due to start. It's all a bit scary as only 30+3 today and real now and didn't get a chance to say good bye!

Sorry to hear so many people are struggling with so many things wondering is the insomnia and tiredness is here to stay untill the end. But at least it feels like the end is in sight!

panpipe · 01/06/2012 10:02

Oh McBaby hope all is going ok.

I'm going to join in with YES to feeling faint (I blame my blood pressure), YES to funny shaped bump (mine's been sticking out to the left for about 3 weeks now) and a big YES to virtual Wine. I've been good so far with cutting right down on caffeine, having it about once a week, but this morning I caved and am currently enjoying a strong black filter coffee from a posh expensive place near work where you even get to choose the beans (Rwandan this morning).

On the other hand I've discovered that a great way to cure insomnia is not to get back from work til midnight Confused. Had my best night's sleep for ages last night but am completely ruined this morning!

Let's all try and look forward to the lovely long weekend - what have we got planned? We've got a wedding Sunday but apart from that nothing else planned so I'll either just completely veg out, do some baby shopping or clear out the last of the stuff from the nursery-to-be.

ishopthereforeiam · 01/06/2012 10:40

McBaby hope you're ok? Did you get any pain relief for the contractions?

Panpipe I'm with you on the Wine

3bears hoping the itching for me calms down as have moisturised lots and lots but it was driving me nuts last night.

I started leaking colostrum this morning arghhhh this did NOT happen with pg1! Might need to buy some breast pads sooner rather than later!

OP posts:
susiegrapevine · 01/06/2012 11:12

ishop i feel your pain! Leaked loads with ds but not so much with this one so am the opposite way round! although yesterday morn i was crouching down knee in boob to change ds's nappy and i felt a wet feeling! I was like ut oh! So i squeezed the colostrum out! However luckily was still wearing pjs so could just change!

Mcbaby sorry to hear you are having a tough time hopefully they are just weird braxton hicks and baby is planning to stay put for at least another 7 weeks!

Sorry if this annoys anyone but i always get a good nights sleep however i always wake up with horrid dry mouth as cannot breath properly through my nose seems all this pregnancy on account of my hayfever/dust allergy which makes me feel like a i have a permanant cold! Forgot to ask doc when i went before if there was anything i could take but to be honest unless it gets really bad i would rather not take anything for the baby's sake

Happy Friday everyone!

MrsMigginslovespies · 01/06/2012 11:59

Hello all, tis the Bank Holiday weekend hurrah! Am getting packed up again for the ruby wedding stuff and make nice roulade and a VAST amount of fridge cake for tea.

Susie I quite often have that dry mouth/blocked nose thing too. Think it's also dust/allergies/hayfever too but is better if I prop myself up. Had better sleep last night, but woke up at 0500 and dozed for a bit then got up. Sigh!

Feeling a lot more kicks now which is nice, but only as ever on one side!

Off to sort out some stuff, then we're away in a couple of hours.

Have a fab bank holiday and Jubilee weekend...what are your plans?! xx

alisonmcg · 01/06/2012 14:49

No long weekend for me unfortunately :( We don't take the Monday bank holiday (think it's maybe primarliy an English one?) and not getting the Jubilee day however I have taken the Tuesday as annual leave as have a mw appointment in the morning and DP is off so thought it would be nice to spend the day together!

Sorry to hear you're having a hard time of it McBaby. For all the mumping and moaning I seem to be doing lately, in reality I have had a relatively easy pregnancy so should just be counting myself lucky! If extreme tiredness and an achey back/pelvis is all I'm going to have to suffer then I shouldn't really be complaining!

Thankfully not feeling quite so murderous today :) party due to the fact that the two colleagues who usually make me feel that way are off today! It also helps that it is a Friday!!

For those of you who are benefitting from the long weekend hope you all have a great time! Our plans for tomorrow consist of doing a major shopping blitz to try and get as much ticked off our list as possible!!

Lovemarmite · 01/06/2012 15:16

McBaby hope you're feeling better asap and all is well.
And warzone hope you're feeling alive today?

ishop hope your day is getting better?! No itchy skin here but am differently stretched. Lovely DH with the Thanks!

You're being very good panpipe with caffeine. Since about 14 weeks, I've been having 1 and half cups of tea everyday and I like it strong. I was having two cups and then it went to three and I realised that my tea level was getting a bit heavy. Have bought a posh decaff one and will try it tomorrow to cut out that .5 one as of tomorrow. Hoping it's nice as decaff is usually bleuch!

LO just pushed a foot out of my belly and it seemed to rest on my arm, I kind of thought ahhhh weird!!
Just bought a hypnobirthing paperback and I think I should have gone for a CD? Thinking of getting into birthing plans soon as 30 week mark is tomorrow, gulp!

Thanks for the advice on the iron supps, have the ferrous fumerate ones and so hope they don't constipate and start to make me feel less tired.

Hope everyone is having a good Friday.

Lovemarmite · 01/06/2012 15:21

OK, LO is moving a lot and seems to tug in places with little pulls - does anyone else feel needling?
Kicks are strong but it feels like fingers are tapping, it makes me giggle and move as it's really odd. Reassuring I guess Wink
