MrsMigginslovespies · 22/02/2012 09:38

Well done frilly, thanks. Mine's a chocolate digestive please. How are you feeling today? Really sorry that you've had such a rough time; I didn't realise you'd been off for so long. Hope it ends soon. Having been off work a lot myself, it can get really boring! Grey's Anatomy saved me from myself at those times!

Still feeling tired too, not helped by grumpy DH. He's only been back at work 2 days after half term and already moaning about tired he is. Hmm. I wanted to make nice jacket potatoes for lunch and he said he didn't like them. Who doesn't like jackets?! Grump.

Angel feel free to steal! I find the whole idea of lots of presents too much after a big wedding list last year, plus suspect that people will give a little thing anyway. Much rather sit and eat a lot of Lebanese food (my fav).

Still have very itchy breasts. Thought I'd share Smile.

Angel786 · 22/02/2012 10:00

Yummm I love Lebanese too. Yes - had DD's shower in 2010 so may be a bit much to have another and don't want to pressure friends on gifts etc. We have almost all we need from DD still...

Am also rather itchy (esp the nips!) sorry if TMI!

PoppyS34 · 22/02/2012 10:02

Morning evening, thanks for sorting the new thread. :)

I am absolutely shattered, cannot get over how tired I am - what is wrong? It's getting worse not better - bah humbug (am I able to use that in Feb? :))

I know this might be completely phsycological, but I stopped taking my vits (see thread 2 re folic acid past 12 wks), and it seems to be since then that I've felt rough - even have nausea back... like I say, could just be coincidence... lots of people are ill at work, so maybe something's in the post..

Wishing you all a good day today Biscuit Brew

Lovemarmite · 22/02/2012 10:55

Oh wow, had to find us on a new thread!

Yes, my nipples are itchy but very sore. I suddenly have breasts which is a really great symptom!

Having mad dreams at the moment but glad to say, that other than waking quite often, sleep is coming easier now. Phew not so cranky from lack of sleep. Must say though that my face is very bumpy/spotty - I didn't have this in the first trimester and I thought it was meant to clear up as the spot producing hormones would be lessened in the second trimester - not blooming, more like a tragic old teen :o

Lovemarmite · 22/02/2012 11:08

Hi Poppy

This link about folic acid might be interesting - as it's a B vitamin, it's needed for energy and iron absorption etc and so maybe your body may be requesting it again? www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/vitamin-b9-000338.htm
Maybe a B vitamin complex supplement might be worth investigating to see if it helps with tiredness etc if you don't want to take pregnacare? Sorry, don't mean to give advice as it's just a thought.

I am taking a pregnancy vitamin pack still and most probably will take them for a bit longer, however I feel they are quite hard going and my pee turns bright orange and then yellow after a few hours. I need to drink more water when taking the vitamins too otherwise I get tired, sick and headachy. Don't think it's any advice but just my observation as it's the opposite of what you've been finding.

PoppyS34 · 22/02/2012 11:14

Thanks lovemarmite I am very open to any advice I can get, especially as my I've only seen the midwife once. I'll ask her next week (I hope the appointment is long enough, I've got such a long list of questions!! :)).

It really might be coincidence, but I'm going to finish the packet and then see what MW says, agree a complex might be needed instead.

I'm also suffering spots as well, have been for a few weeks - still not blooming (unless you count blooming tired!! :o)

PoppyS34 · 22/02/2012 12:34

Hanncheese that's great news about heartbeat, and baked camembert - making my mouth drool just thinking about it... :o

I have to admit I licked the knife (bad manners I know) after cutting the stilton for my partner's salad the other day Blush

It was the minutest amount, though.

NeedlesCuties · 22/02/2012 13:00

Angel786 · 22/02/2012 13:50

One post away from the limit on the second thread.... Whose tempted?!

Angel786 · 22/02/2012 13:50

Who's*

MrsMigginslovespies · 22/02/2012 13:54

I'm officially not having a baby now, but a jacket potato. My tummy is huge after lunch. Not good and now need a nap. I'm going to keep taking my vits all the way through I think, as have always taken supplements of some sort and figure they won't do me any harm, plus know that way I definitely get everything.

My skin's gone super dry which is wierd for me, as I normally am combo/oily. Even my scalp is a bit dry (tis a joy). My sister who has perfect skin normally went really spotty which was odd for her too, so maybe it does the opposite of normal?

Baked camembert sounds awesome.

Off to see Woman in Black tonight and am bit nervous, having seen the stage version twice, both times of which actually made me scream aloud in the theatre Blush. I may not make it out alive...!!

PoppyS34 · 22/02/2012 13:56

Cross-posted Angel, so the part 2 thread is offically at it's limit... yay! I don't know why this pleases me, but it does.

Enjoy the Woman in Black, i saw the stage version too, and i made me jump a lot.

Thanks for the list Needles

namechanger12 · 22/02/2012 14:03

Oh, I love a new list! Grin

alisonmcg · 22/02/2012 14:55

Hi everyone!!

Wow, don't post anything for a few days and come back to find a new thread, you have all been busy!!

Lots of reading to catch up on! I've noticed that quite a few people have been allowed to hear the heartbeat but at my first midwife appointment they said they won't try to listen to it until 22 weeks :( Was anyone else told that but then ended up being allowed to hear it before then anyway? Would absolutely love to hear it at our 16 week appointment instead if I can find a way to convince them! Otherwise I won't have any proof that all is still well with bubs until our 20 week scan (unless of course I'm lucky and manage to feel it moving about by then!) x

farmerswifey · 22/02/2012 15:25

Had my 16 week check-up last week and got to listen to little dumpling's heartbeat. Our lovely Midwife said that due to the rate she thinks it's likely we're having a girl Shock Does anyone know if this has any medical basis or just another old wives tale? Not that we are bothered either way, I'm just terribly impatient and can't wait to find out :o

panpipe · 22/02/2012 15:34

Mrsmiggins +1 here with the newly dry skin. Mine is normally oily too so my foundation/moisturiser etc (including fancy new £30 Dior foundation -grr) is all for oily skin. I feel a shopping trip may be necessary!

alison maybe it depends on your midwife/where you live. We heard hb at 16 week appointment last week and it seemed a standard part of the proceedings, but SIL (who only lives about 10 miles away) had to really make a point of asking as the MW they saw wasn't keen on doing it until later. Apparently you can't always hear anything at 16 weeks so it can worry people if they can't find it. I'd definitely put your foot down and ask!

Angel786 · 22/02/2012 16:36

Hey Alison we didn't get to hear hb at 16 wk appointment.

farmers that's interesting, haven't heard that theory before?

Well done on last post poppy I wonder how many we'll get through before all the babies are here? Hoping to see woman in black next we for a (cheap orange Wednesdays) date night Wink enjoy!

ham am off for supper with a friend at cAfe rouge this eve, def getting baked Camembert to start!

Westcountrylovescheese · 22/02/2012 17:45

Farmers, actually I heard that today from a girl at work who is six months pregnant. Apparently a higher heartbeat rate is a signal of a girl. Happened with her first and was a girl now, now she thinks this one is also a girl!

Had a horrid few minutes at 16 week midwife appointment. She was trying to find the heartbeat and couldn't hear anything. Then I was sent off to go for a wee... still nothing. ...she then said she'd be sending me for a scan if still nothing.... ....eventually heard it and we were both completely still listening. After she admitted that she had been starting to panic and that she'd never taken so long to find one. But all ok as we'd heard it and also heard baby moving!

Good but stressful!

NeedlesCuties · 22/02/2012 17:51

Farmers when I was pregnant with DS a few years ago I saw the midwife and she listened to the baby with the doppler. I can't recall how far pregnant I was, but it was after my 20 weeks scan.

She kept saying "he" and then giggled and asked if I'd found out the sex at my scan, which I hadn't! She said she reckoned it was a boy and she was right Wink

0FrillyKnickers0 · 22/02/2012 17:55

Evening!

To whoever asked, so sorry but my memory is that short, I haven't been feeling too great today! Was almost sick but there was nothing in my tummy so nothing came up, try though my body did! I'm just fed up of this stupid nausea and sickness.

AND THE BLOODY SPOTS. I feel 17 again. My face and chest (why my chest?!) are freaking hideous! Bleugh bleugh bleugh.

OP posts:
0FrillyKnickers0 · 22/02/2012 17:57

Oh and Farmers, apparently it is rare for a MW to let you hear the heartbeat so early. Mine tried at 10 weeks then again at 12 weeks. I guess some are just more matter-o-fact. She said at 10 that it was unlikely we'd hear it but she'd give it a go. Heard it at 12. This all from the MW who has seen me 5 times now and my scan isn't until tomorrow!!

13+1

Angel786 · 22/02/2012 18:02

Hope you feel better and the scan goes well frilly

west. That sounds horrific but pleased all was well x

hamncheese · 22/02/2012 18:05

My midwife just checked for heartbeat as if it was normal; I didn't ask or anything. Got it pretty quickly for a few seconds then baby moved and had to re-find it :) Glad she didn't say anything re: speed of heart as we don't want to know! Baby heartbeat sounds like it's going "woop woop woop" to me haha

Angel enjoy that camembert mmmmm the memory of mine makes me feel all fuzzy inside

I've got the spots too BAH. Got an acne/dermatitis thing on my chin ever since I got pregnant... had to get then antibacterial roll on thingo from the doc for it.

PictureThis · 22/02/2012 18:21
