MrsL I always found M&S useless for fitting. I love their bras, but always ended up in very much so the wrong size there. I normally get fitted at Debenhams, and then go to M&S for the bras lol especially as we have an M&S outlet where I can sometimes get them quite a bit cheaper - I nearly died when I saw the price of their bras yesterday.

I'm usually a 34F-FF now, but I lived in non-wired bras with DD's pg. I hung on to her maternity bras as long as possible after finishing bfing her, as they were sooo comfy!

frilly I've mentioned them on one of the previous threads before, ages ago, but have you considered sea-sickness bands? Mine were a life saver with DD's pg, as I had bad ms up to 20 or 22 weeks, something crazy like that. And as soon as I had the first wave of nausea this time round I put them straight on.

I haven't needed them for as long this time round (is it a boy!?) but they're such a comfort to have on the side, just in case...!

glittershoes · 23/02/2012 16:57

Great news Frilly! So pleased it was all perfect!

I am dreading going bra shopping. I am normally a 28GG and am currently in one of my only 30H bras but it is getting rapidly tight! God knows where I will find some affordable bras that fit! I did mention it in M&S a week or so ago and the woman just blinked at me and told me that she was sure I wasn't that size and had I tried one of their new DD nursing bras... ummmm, not a chance of me fitting in that!

I would head to Bravisimmo which I love but it is so expensive if I am going to need two new bras every six weeks or so!

hamncheese · 23/02/2012 17:02

Oh Miggins you are spot on with the riding up and poor shape of nursing bras! I got one and it had a plastic strip vertically between the cup and strap and the whole thing curls up on itself and the strap dug in! Had to take it out but it still rides up and I'm always fidgeting with it arg. Anyone got any advice on where to get really good ones that don't cost the earth?

I got the support vests from M&S aaaages ago and refound them in the wardrobe... so useful and comfy now. Again not the best shape but the comfort is worth it! Got to go get them in a bigger size now though..

Congrats on the scan Frilly yay for wriggly babies Grin

Also anyone making a link between headaches and caffeine? A few times I've felt like a headache has come on from caffeine but it's hard to tell as it also comes at the same time as other hormonal symptoms. Know it's not from not drinking enough at least. Just want to rule out the caffeine thing so I can still have coke/tea. If anyone else is having these too then I highly recommend the cold strips for the head (Boots own brand are just as good as migraleve and cover more) not a cure but for relief.

JParkson · 23/02/2012 17:09

I've heard a lot about Bravissimo, both about the quality and the price!

I would love to check them out, but thankfully we don't have one where I live. There is an independant lady who sells +size bras, but I haven't been to see her yet, as again, it can get quite expensive. My friend went to see her and came away having spent £70 and bought 2 bras and matching undies... um, a tad more than I can justify at the mo!

My neighbour was telling me about these sports type bras, genii or something? I don't think they'd be much use as nursing bras, but she really rates them for general comfort. Apparently they come in small, med and large, and it's about £44 for a pack of 3 (including p&p from one of these shopping channels). I haven't looked into them to any great depth, but if they're flexible enough to cope with maternity growth, I could be tempted.

Thanks everyone Grin

JP, where would I get Seabands from? x

Fantastic news Frilly :o

we've also got to move house as well, house hunting takes so much time. Hope we find somewhere soon.

MrsMigginslovespies · 23/02/2012 17:25

I've been off caffeine for ages now due to IVF etc. I allowmyself one cup of normal tea a day then the rest is decaff. M&Sor Twinings decaff tea is fine and I can't really taste the difference, unlike most of the others which taste awful. Am also on the gold diet coke. I find I get a headache if I've not drunk enough (like today) so try to stay hydrated (doesn't have to be water apparently).

I bought an expensive maternity bra from Harrods (don't laugh, their bra fitting service is second to none) which is actually ok, then a couple of cheapo ones from M&S in the sale but I do end up yanking them about a bit. I just like an underwire!! My Mum (who ain't a small lady in the old bosom department) has never worn an underwire and thinks they look like torture! Am going to get some support vest tops I think soon.

Off to make chilli for tomorrow's supper.

JParkson · 23/02/2012 17:47

augh! hit the wrong button and wiped my post out! Curse this baby brain!

Let's try again... frilly Most chemists should sell them, and probably a decent sized supermarket too. I'm not sure where DH got mine from, but they weren't terribly expensive, £6-£7 I think (that was 2 years ago mind)

And congrats on the scan too Wink

WelshLadyCDF · 23/02/2012 18:07

hamncheese if it's diet coke you're drinking it may be the sweeteners in it? Am not having any caffeine but still headaches more often than not these days.

Having blood test for MS tmrw, does anyone know when you get the results or if blood test is all they do at the first appointment?

Am 16+1

PictureThis · 23/02/2012 20:36

Therumoursaretrue we've been in Lanzarote, it was absolutely wonderful I have to say.

On the subject of nursing/maternity bras has anyone looked at the Hot Milk website. They have some gorgeous bras which are very tempting.

eightieshopaholic · 23/02/2012 20:50

Had my 16wk apt heard the heartbeat which was great!! mw said sounded strong.

On the bra front, went to Mothercare a couple of weeks ago just to be measured the bra lady went a little crazy told me off for still being in underwires apparently they can cause mastitus can't spell it sorry!! she told me to take my old one off and put the new one on straight away, she did seem a drama queen!!

MrsLister · 23/02/2012 21:32

eightes that's pretty much the reaction I got in M&S today. I actually asked her to bring me some underwired to try on and she just ignored me - hahaha.

Anyway - I will be the first to admit that my tits have been bloody killing me recently so if the non-wired over shoulder boulder holder works so be it!

They've got a great selection of maternity bras on Figleaves actually. Also got some nice swimwear on there too...

0FrillyKnickers0 · 23/02/2012 22:08

Hi Welsh! Re blood tests, I don't think the MW normally does them. It may be different with you as you are later on, but I had mine done at the hospital today with my 12 week scan. Did she say she'd do your bloods? The rest of the appointment will be urine sample and form filling in! Quite dull, but they may well listen for a heartbeat as you are so far along. It's a late first appt though...!?

Evening all, can't bellieve I've just found this thread and there was 3 pages to read!!!
Glitter there's a strap thing that extends your back panel and usually gives you a few more months in a bra, can't remember much about it but I know it exsists, sorry!
Also if you're shopping on Figleaves you can use your Tesco vouchers to buy Figleaves vouchers, works out really well!
I keep waking up at night on my front, it feels fine but is it hurting the fetus does anyone know?

0FrillyKnickers0 · 23/02/2012 22:21

Hi Tash. The baby will be fine, it has plenty of room and the only reason people stop lying on their fronts is because it becomes uncomfortable! Don't worry :)

Good news 80s and frilly

lovemarmite the bump bands are designed to hold your clothes up while you can't button / zip them and also cover up when tops get too short. The new look ones aren't bad but cone up a bit big I think, I bought small-medium which I've not q grown into yet , I bought so e from eBay before (mama2b or sth!) and those stay up more as a bit tighter on me. Overall strongly recommend them!

My boobs have def got bigger (thank goodness! Were like deflated pancakes post dd and smaller than pre pg!) but sore...

therumoursaretrue · 23/02/2012 23:56

Picture I'm sure that was lovely, I am very envious. Would love some sun!

I love the Hot Milk bras, the shop I go to for undies stocks them and they are so so pretty! I was so tempted but the lady assured me I didn't need them quite yet!

Hope everyone is well and looking forward to the weekend! Anyone got anything nice planned?

WelshLadyCDF · 24/02/2012 07:28

Hi frilly it's not first appointment I had the usual bloods and scan at 12 weeks. This might be additional because I am a little older (a young 40!)
So glad it's the weekend, DP away, am going to relax and see my mum. Xx

0FrillyKnickers0 · 24/02/2012 08:54

Oh I see, Welsh! Ignore me!!

OP posts:
Vinolover · 24/02/2012 09:21

Did you have the NT scan Frilly? I only ask because that involves having blood taken... I had my bloods taken from MW at 12 weeks and got the results at my last appt (15 wks). She has now told me I don't need to see her again until 24 weeks when I will have my next set of bloods taken.

Im so excited! I only have a 3 hour lunch time shift today and then im not back until wednesday! Bliss :) I have also just done my housework so I don't have that to do over the weekend either! Im just going to be a slob I think Wink. Only 2 more sleeps until I find out the gender too!! I think I may just burst any minute :)

Anybody else doing anything exciting this weekend?

0FrillyKnickers0 · 24/02/2012 09:53

No, we decided not to, but the sonographer said that the fluid was normal and we needn't have worried anyway!

Grrr move date put back to 10th....an extra week of trying to live around all the boxes, so cross!

On the plus side wearing bump band for first time today and loving it!! Trousers fully undone underneath which is sooo much more comfy!

Is anyone else struggling with the 'it's best to sleep on your left' advice? I have a stiff left shoulder but also keep waking up on my back, which is my preferred position. Has anyone tried a dream genie or similar and did it help keep you on your side? S xxx

technoduck · 24/02/2012 10:20

Hello everyone! keep popping in and out of this one so never really know what going on, 16weeks now scan went so well, was amazing seening little one. ginger Im moving house on the 10th of march so also trying to live around boxes.
Ive always slept on my front, so Im finding it very hard to sleep on my left side. I know Im ment to do it but does anyone know why I should sleep on my left side?

panpipe · 24/02/2012 11:34

Have all you moving ladies tried Freecycle for moving boxes? There's always some being offered on my local one.

technoduck apparently sleeping on your left is supposed to help with blood flow. I didn't hear anything about that until this week though!

Sticking with the boob talk (!) mine aren't doing anything. Not itchy, sore or any different in size. I have had implants (luckily not the dodgy French mattress ones) so not sure whether that's got anything to do with it. I'm just hoping that the very little breast tissue I had beforehand wasn't damaged during surgery as I'd love to breastfeed. MW says it doesn't automatically mean that I won't be able to; I'll just have to wait and see like everybody else.

I might need to investigate these wondrous bump bands over the weekend as I've got to the stage where I can't really close any of my trousers any more!

danmoore00 · 24/02/2012 11:35

Hi All,
Sorry I'm rubbish at posting - have been catching up with all your posts - glad to hear that you are having similar experiences. Feel like I'm 6 months already - feel huge.
Had 12 week scan last week - and all ok - have also had blood tests - anyone know how long til results - do they usually post them or will I have to wait until 16 week appointment? Also have another scan at 16 wks as have cyst on ovary that they want to keep an eye on. Anyone ever had this?

Thanks for all your advice on bump bands - have just purchased one from asos (love it) £6 - can't believe got to 3rd pregnancy without one - will keep you posted on results - might need advice once I have it. Scared my trousers will fall down!

Have now told DS (17 yrs old) that was scary - haven't told DD (5) yet - she has been poorly with chickenpox this week - hopefully all should be ok as I had when I was a child!!! There's always a drama.

Anyway nice to catch up with all your posts - keep well let's hope we all begin to bloom soon - I just feel fat and tired and look dreadful right now.

Good luck with the house moves to all of you that are moving. Enjoy weekends away - I'm jealous of those of you been/going away!

p.s meant to be flying at 29/30 weeks - reading that not wise to fly really - anyone ever flown this late?
