NeedlesCuties · 16/01/2012 09:56

Hi!

I was coming on here to start another thread, Angel you beat me to it!

All the best for your scan, mine is still 2 weeks away >drums fingers impatiently<

capecath welcome to the August club, you're in good company. Your cravings are the same as mine :)

PoppyS34 · 16/01/2012 11:00

Wow, that's impressive we reached the limit. :)

Good luck for the scan. Mine's a week today. hurrah!

geekette I also hope you're feeling better, I don't have any advice but hope you find something to help.

Congrats to everyone joining the August boat. Wish you all a happy Monday.

hamncheese · 16/01/2012 12:05

oh august people HIHIHI Grin hope all your scans go well in the next few weeks!!

Lovemarmite · 16/01/2012 12:22

Hi hamncheese and capecath!

Wow yes we reached the limit... lots of talking. Thanks for all the support so far, really invaluable to hear what everyone is going through especially as I've not told many people yet.

geekette - hope you start feeling happy soon. I have been feeling lows and highs for the past 10 weeks and relate it to my tiredness too. I spent sometime in the fresh air earlier and it picked me up but I know this is personal and so I hope you find something to pick up to too x

Hope your scan went well Angel
Wow, I am looking forward to knowing when mine is booked for.
Happy Monday everyone x
p.s. my marmite theory worked this morning, one day on it, all sickies gone ... yeap definitely agree with you MrsMiggins

JParkson · 16/01/2012 12:36

Hi ladies, ooh nice sparkly new thread!

Apologies for deserting you for a few weeks?! days. I've been rammed at church, organising our annual dinner for our senior members. Now's all over I can go back to being a lady of leisure full time mum again. :o

I'm just popping in to say a quick hi before catching up on everything.

Just had my proper mw booking appt, and heard LO's heartbeat for the first time - squeeeee! Makes it seem so real now!

Angel786 · 16/01/2012 15:23

Thanks ladies!

so, all went well.... heartbeat was there and all seemed normal. huge sigh of relief! just looks like i am 10 plus 6 rather than 11 plus 6 as i expected. have to go bavk in two weeks for further scans to confirm dates and testing, but happy to do that if i get to see the baby again. needles i guess my dd become 7th august for now but could change again!

for those wondering - i did have the internal examination too as it measures the cervix but also blood flow to baby. thank goodness i'd "tidied up" a bit!

OP posts:
Vinolover · 16/01/2012 16:05

I think im finally ready to officially join :) have just had a scan and all is looking well. With my dates im 10+2 but scan has just dated me 10+0. Im so happy right now :) Baby had a gorgeous little heartbeat and was waving its arms and legs around, was so sweet. I should hopefully get my NT scan through soon so I will get to see little one again.
My stats are:

Vinolover (29) DC3 due 11/08/2012 (at the moment)

Angel you really made me laugh about tidying up! I did that too having not bothered for a while lol... I didn't have an internal scan this time but I did have a rather yummy junior Dr at the end of the bed!

sc0ttishlass · 16/01/2012 16:10

hi there - can I join? I am new to chat forums in general so apologies - I dont recognise some of the terminology :)

So I am just over 9 weeks... having a private scan next sunday - just to check. Havent received an official scan date yet from the hospital or an appointment for a discussion with midwife (which from reading the posts I should get?)

You seem like a really nice group ;)

my information is sc0ttishlass (34), due 15th August and this is my first...and am VERY VERY excited.

xx

voscar · 16/01/2012 16:15

I got my scan date through!!! Whoo hoo. I'll be exactly 12+2 by my calculations. I really hope I'm coming back on here to say all is well and good afterwards!

miaboo · 16/01/2012 17:07

My scans next Tuesday just hoping and praying baby pip is ok, I've felt so sick so far I couldnt go to work today and the heartburn is vile, I've turned into a moaning hormonal fart! :(
I move from one ache to an other and just want to sleep all the time, just want to be well and look forward to baby number 3 :)
It's really weird but with the last 2 I had bleeds at 6 and 7 weeks so had early scans so it's killing me having to wait this long!

blackcatsdancing · 16/01/2012 17:51

Angel786 was there a reason you needed an internal scan? You mentioned measuring cervix. I had very minor treatment on my cervix a few years ago , it was a question on hospital notes which i shall ask mw about this week . I've been wondering if it will be assessed by consultant at some stage.

blackcatsdancing · 16/01/2012 18:12

btw angel congrats on the scan!

voscar · 16/01/2012 18:23

You know how we all have our stats on the big list? Do you think it might be worth putting on our hospital or wider area? I was thinking it might be nice to see if there are any groups of us together/similar areas - could have a cake stuffing (have to make up for lack of wine) out faces session together?

NeedlesCuties · 16/01/2012 18:27

NeedlesCuties · 16/01/2012 18:31

voscar I posted the list just as you must have been finished posting about your idea!!! Grin

I am up for that, but some people might be a bit wary in case it 'outs' them.... we'll see what the general mood is and then add those details if people are keen for them. I do think it's a good idea, especially if cake is involved!

For the record, I will be having this DC in the Mater Hospital, Belfast, Northern Ireland. Same place I had DC1.

If people want to tell me their hospital or city I can add it to my list.

Lovemarmite · 16/01/2012 18:56

Hi - I'm up for it - although we may be far and wide apart...
I've opted for Eastbourne

Congratulations Angel on your scan :o

Vinolover · 16/01/2012 19:01

My hospital is RSCH in Brighton... Not too far from you Lovemarmite :)

blackcatsdancing · 16/01/2012 19:02

i've opted for Brighton!

blackcatsdancing · 16/01/2012 19:11

lovemarmite my new pregnancy book (What to expect) has mentioned that vitamin b6 can be helpful in treating ms. I'm catching up on last two months of pregnancy in book. I shall try some marmite on toast later tonight! I'm sceptical as I am already taking pricey vitamins with way over the amount of b6 we need, though i know supplements aren't as good as real food. on that note time for dinner.

MrsLister · 16/01/2012 19:11

Thanks for your comment in the other thread re bloating Angel - glad it's not just me! Also happy to hear your scan went well.

I went to buy new jeans today - what a depressing endeavour! Even two sizes up on my regular Uniqlo skinnies felt tight! :-( Tried on some maternity jeans but they felt too big - unsurprisingly considering I'm only 7+5!

Not really sure what to do...

Anyway - my local hospital will be Homerton in Hackney :-)

Angel786 · 16/01/2012 19:17

Thanks all.

blackcats it's standard hospital procedure at uclh. It's an optional scan but I had it last time, I did explain most likely I'll be a c-section so not to worry about the cervix too much ( for delivery) but the dr said they can get more details re my blood flow to baby that way.

needles well done with the list! My hospital is uclh, London.

vino always best to be prepared lol Wink at lEast I know I need to be sorted down there for the repeat scan in a fortnight!

Welcome Scottish exciting times ahead!

To all those waiting for scan dates, really hope they come through soon!

Angel786 · 16/01/2012 19:20

Just seen your post mrslister have you considered bump bands? I've got two from last time (a black and a white one) which meant I could wear my usual jeans and trousers (up until last trimesterish) you just leave the fly open and the band covers it (works well with same coloured shirt) and holds them up?

You can get them q cheap on bay or otherwise mamas and papas / mother care I think.

thatboysmum · 16/01/2012 19:25

Hi ladies,
I briefly introduced myself on the last thread but didn't contribute much more i'm afraid.
I am now (according to my calculations) 9 + 4 and have my 'booking' appointment with the midwife on friday. Hopefully will have my first scan soon, I am feeling anxious at the moment!
My stats are thatboysmum DC 2 due 16/08/12, medway maritime hospital.

Lovemarmite · 16/01/2012 19:38

Hey blackcatsdancing and vinolover - we're close!
I'm actually in between Brighton and Eastbourne - in fact Brighton is more convenient on travel anyway. Ooo that's a cake stuffing session there then! Fab x

Marmite - convinced the vitamin Bs are doing me wonders... hope it works for you too blackcats!

Thanks Needles for the list again too.
Welcome back thatboysmum, anxious, yeap me too... but glad we have a great group here!

MrsMigginslovespies · 16/01/2012 19:52

Ooh, evening all, like the new sparkly thread.

Congrats Angel on your good scan news. What a relief, well done! There is something too about feeling "decent" when having it done. I always shaved my legs and had a tidy up before any of my ops/scans etc. Felt somehow it was the least I could do Blush. Certainly plan to have a nice wax etc before I have the baby, as hate the idea of a nurse hacking away with a bic. Eeek!!

I think it's a good idea too about where we're all having our babies: I'm in the Scottish Borders, so it'll be Borders&General Hosptial for me (BGH). Should also mention this is my first baby and am v excited and a bit anxious, due to IVF etc. SO want it all to be ok. Have another scan tomorrow so fingers crossed. I do feel i'm being well-looked after so far, which is good, as am a nervous gal after all my ops etc. Feel SHATTERED today. Got up late, went for afternoon nap, still feel like could go back to bed. Will be 9 weeks tomorrow.

Agree too with you Angel and MrsLister about the bloating. I'm sure I'm starting to have a little pot belly, not helped by crumpets or toast with marmite. Hey ho!

Off to potter and read my new book before maybe a little napette!

Mrs M x
